About the author

Charlaine Harris

Charlaine Harris has been a published writer for over forty years. Her first two books were standalones, followed by a long sabbatical when she was having children. Then she began the Aurora Teagarden book, mysteries featuring a short librarian (eventually adapted for Hallmark movies). The darker Lily Bard books came next, about a house cleaner with a dark past and considerable fighting skills.

Tired of abiding by the mystery rules, Harris wrote a novel about a telepathic barmaid that took at least two years to sell. When the book was published, it turned into a best seller, and DEAD UNTIL DARK and the subsequent Sookie books were adapted in Alan Ball's "True Blood" series. At the same time, Harris began the Harper Connelly books. Harper can find the bones of the dead and see their last minute.

When those two series wound to a close, the next three books were about a mysterious town in Texas, called Midnight.

A change in publisher and editor led to Harris's novels about a female gunslinger in an alternate America, Lizbeth Rose. The Gunnie Rose books concluded with the sixth novel.

She's thinking about what to write next.

I loved the Eric parts and prefered it to the tv series, I was disappointed by how they portrayed it on tv.

Ok

Good stories, but so many typos and bad formatting. It was hard to tell who was speaking many times, especially when quotes were omitted and lines ran into each other. Really needs re-editing consider the cost.

Better than others

This series seems to improve the further along you read. Don't know if that's because you get used to how bad they are or if there is an actual improvement! Have to say since Sookie has stopped mooning over Bill the character has become more likeable hopefully it will stay that way...

I loved the tv series. And wanted to read the books to keep it going. I love that there are some similarities yet so many differences. I love the book even more than the tv show.

This series is like my very own Humber bridge. No sooner do I get to the end I start again.
Much loved go to, when needing a little indulgence.

I simply love Sookie Stackhouse series , Its not because i am big Paranormal Genre Fan but because of the way Charlaine has portrayed her characters.

Normally we find the hero & heroines are holier than thou ... but here we have a simple barmaid with extraordinary gift . like in our daily lives she also goes through love , lust , greed , anger , and other issues. Even the other characters who might or might not go on to become the hero have been shown with equal amount of weakness and strength.

I also likes this series for its input of Vampires , fairies, werewolves , shifters & witches. For a person like me its a treat . Even after having these many different species the story line is not chaotic.

Actually stookie stackhouse reminds me of Stephannie Plum series.

Finally! I've been reading this book like crazy for the past week since it's already late and I have to return it to the library asap.

This TrueBlood Omnibus 2 contains books 4, 5 & 6: Dead to the World, Dead as a Doornail and Definitely Dead. Since they're all together I can't really distinguish the plots. They kind of melt all together.

These are good summer reads. I kind of like Sookie. I like her spirit. I expected to drool over Eric more but I really didn't which was a shame. I gave this omnibus only 2 stars because I found it a bit confusing and inconsistent.

I'll continue to read The Sookie Stackhouse Novels but I don't have high expectations.

A good series.

Let me rephrase that. This is a good series up until about book 7 or so. Ms Harris obviously dragged this series out and the quality quickly dropped with each extra book.

These novels are like meringue; not much substance but they're light and sweet. Which is an odd adjective for books about vampires and werefolk, among other oddities, but it fits.

Charlaine Harris' Southern Vampire Chronicles are a fun read that mixes romance, mystery and supernatural genres in a fascinating Southern setting. Not exactly a literary gem, but really interesting
