Prayer in Motion is basically about having a real and meaningful prayer life.

This book made several strong impressions:
• The cover art is stunning. I love how the woman’s hair on the cover is adorned with glossy florals, and how the title and decorative accents are embossed in gold.
• The story of Maewyn in the introduction was so uplifting.
• Once I started reading, I found it hard to stop.
• The artwork and decorative scripture verses are beautiful, the activities are fun, and the devotions are meaningful and stimulating.

Praying can mean noticing God in small things. It isn’t just closing our eyes and asking God for what we want or need. It’s not only about asking questions, asking for help or comfort, or asking for guidance. It’s much more than that. It’s staying aware of Him, talking to Him, and seeing Him in everything—from the feeling of the air after a summer rain to life changing events.

This is the most encouraging and uplifting book about prayer I’ve ever read. I appreciate its ideas, and it has helped me slow down and notice God more in my daily life, actions, and thoughts. It’s a wonderful book!

First Line: There’s an old, old, story that has been passed down through the centuries –a legend about a boy named Maewyn, who lived in England long before it was even called England, when it was just an island at the edge of the world.

I picked up Prayer in Motion with curiosity, and I found it to be a calm and refreshing read. It offers a different way of thinking about prayer—not just as something you say, but something you experience through your whole body. This idea felt simple but meaningful to me.

What I liked most was how the book connects movement with spirituality. It talks about using small actions like breathing, stretching, or even resting as a way to connect with God. I found this approach very gentle and easy to understand. It doesn’t feel forced or complicated, but instead encourages you to slow down and be present.

The writing style is warm and comforting. It feels like the author is guiding you step by step, without any pressure. I appreciated that the book focuses on everyday moments rather than big changes. It shows that even simple actions can become meaningful when done with awareness and intention.

The practical exercises were also a nice touch. They are easy to follow and don’t require much effort, which makes them suitable for daily life. I liked that the book doesn’t just talk about ideas but also gives ways to try them out.

At times, I felt the content moves at a slow pace, but I think that is part of its purpose. It encourages you to pause and reflect rather than rush through it.

Overall, I found this book peaceful and thoughtful. It’s a good choice for anyone looking to reconnect with their faith in a quiet and personal way. It gently reminds you that prayer can be a natural part of your daily life, not just a routine, but something you truly feel.

I believe health is holistic and that is how God made us to be--body, mind, and spirit/soul all work together for our best health. For that reason, I like Prayer in Motion by Jennifer Tucker. This is her third book and I previously enjoyed Breath as Prayer too.

Prayer In Motion helps me better understand and visualize what God meant in the Bible when it says to pray without ceasing. This book starts out with a story about Saint Patrick and how he started praying daily. I am enjoying working through this book. There is information on somatic praying, embodied prayer, prayer while walking, and so many other types of praying. I also especially liked her Nature Inspired Movement prayer as someone who finds her happy place in nature. Also, as I am a practical person, the grounding techniques, movement activities, and connection practices are truly helpful for me in easing stress and promote rest and restoration

Prayer in Motion is a book that will be on my keeper shelf along with Jennifer Tucker's other books. These books speak to me in so many ways. I like being able to refer back to her prayers and her practices. I also love to just look through this book as it is visually uplifting and calming for me. It has beautiful illustrations and prayer helps.

Prayer In Motion would make a great gift for Mother's Day, Graduation, or another special occasion. Jennifer Tucker's other two books, Breath as Prayer and Present In Prayer, would also be great. If it were me, I would love a complete set of these books that are both beautiful in design and in content.

I received a copy of this book from Frontgate Media. All opinions are my own.

Prayer in Motion by Jennifer Tucker.

This book has a plethora of modern techniques for dealing with things like anxiety and stress with a biblical focus. There are many great ideas to add prayer to your everyday routine. I found the suggestion to pray for specific things or people during specific tasks to be particularly helpful. For example, praying for your kids while you wash dishes or for your spouse while you fold laundry, etc. There are also Grounding Tools, Movement Tools, and Connection Tools. Some of these are methods I've tried and use regularly, such as the Body Scan and Progressive Muscle Relaxation, which are both really helpful to me for falling asleep. I have the author's first two books: Breath as Prayer and Present in Prayer. They are well-used and well-loved. This book complements the other two, and will be a great addition to my library.

5/5 stars. I found some familiar approaches in this book along with many new strategies for coping with stress and anxiety. Beautifully illustrated and would make a great gift. Highly recommended.

Thank you to NetGalley, Jennifer Tucker, and Thomas Nelson and Zondervan Gift for the opportunity to read the eARC. All opinions expressed are my own.

Reading Prayer in Motion by Jennifer Tucker felt like a gentle reminder to slow down and listen to my body.

This book explores the idea that movement and stillness can both help quiet the mind. Instead of complicated routines, it encourages simple practices like stretching, breathing, drawing, or even dancing as ways to reconnect with yourself and create calm in everyday life.

What I appreciated most was how approachable it felt. The exercises are not overwhelming and can easily fit into small moments throughout the day. It is less about doing something perfectly and more about noticing how your body feels and giving yourself permission to pause.

It is a peaceful, reflective read that encourages mindfulness, rest, and creativity. Perfect for anyone looking to step away from the rush of daily life and reconnect with a sense of balance.

I really appreciate on of the main points the Author makes in this book. She tells us that prayer doesn't require a designated stating and stopping point. It can be a continuous conversation with God. I really love this. While setting time aside to focus on prayer is important, you can also pray throughout the day. It then can become a wonderful habit that you are in constant communica6tion with God. This is a beautiful thing. I don't necessarily agree with everything in the book. I don't think movements or practices are needed or required. I believe prayers should be less ritual and more conversation. However, I do think the author makes so many great points and helps to guide you to strengthen your prayers and relationship with God.

This is a book I wish existed years ago. Through the years, I have learned so much about nervous system regulation and embodiment but not always from sources that connected these practices to my Christian faith. Jennifer Tucker connects somatic practices to ancient Christian practices and roots everything in Scripture and prayer. Her book is easy-to-read and easy to implement. It’s a book I would recommend to anyone struggling with their mental health, body shame, or a faith that feels disembodied. Anyone wanting to grow in Christian spiritual practices + nervous system regulation will benefit from this book!

This is a beautifully illustrated book with many creative ideas for engaging your body and senses in prayer. It has example prayers you can walk through on your own, along with explanations of how prayers like these can calm your brain and body. I am eager to try some of these out, and they would be fun to teach to children as well.

I loved this book! Such a well-handled merging of faith and science, brilliantly (and simply) demystifying what it looks like to live embodied faith through somatic prayer practice in everyday life.
