Determined to claim his share of the Rocky Point Ranch and build a herd of his own, Gil Yancy must go up against the woman who had seduced him and stolen all of his money--and his heart--years earlier. Original.
Janette's dream of being published came true in 2006 when Kensington Publishing acquired her first western historical romance, One Real Cowboy. Since then she's written five more western historical romances, and emotionally intense novels for Harlequin Presents.
Now the award winning author is expanding her career into hybrid publishing and will see the release of her first indie romantic suspense novel late 2014.
Janette lives the country life with her real life hero. She invites you to visit her website for details about upcoming novels, events and giveaways, friend her on Facebook, follow her tweets on Twitter, or visit her website at JanetteKenny.com
Interestingly enough, this book come after another one of her books and I did not realize that. Gil is featured in the other book, One Real Cowboy. Will have to see if I regret reading them in reverse order.
All right so Gil's friend sells him a share of his ranch and hires him to be a trail guide for a new venture - making their ranch a getaway destination for ladies from the East. Gil is in for more than one surprise upon arrival though, most notably the death of his friend and the presence of a woman who loved him, robbed him, and left him 12 years ago. Josie had her reasons and has her reasons now for needing Gil, as unexpected as his arrival is. As they attempt to start fresh, they'll dig up secrets and yearnings and drama all around. Should be fun.
I mean all-in-all, not shabby. Josie's a tough cookie without being annoying. And Gil can be so clueless sometimes. Some characters could have been expanded on better; their stories/arcs fell a little flat. But hey, I wasn't here for a literary masterpiece (I mean look at the cover). It was enjoyable. It was Western. It featured some firecrackers and had some excitement. Good times.
Picked up on a whim, I enjoyed this a lot. Gil and Josie are engaging characters. Both are running away from their past and end up making a stand together at Rocky Point Ranch. No hiccups or stumbles. Well done.
I thought the storyline was interesting with enough twists and turns to keep it interesting. It had a truly evil villain and some of the content might be a trigger for survivors of rape and incest.
I had a feeling that I had read this one before, before I started listing all of the books I've read on goodreads and I must not have kept it either or it would have been listed. I remember thinking that it was pretty good though.
Gil Yancy (H) has finally arrived at the ranch were an old friend had sold him a third of, he's come to claime what is rightfully his. He doesn't want to be bought out or anything he just wants to live there and be the trail guide. Who does he find when he gets there, the whore who sold her body to him only to knock him out and rob him blind twelve years ago and she also happens to own a third of the ranch.
Josie (h) couldn't believe it when she saw Gil Yancy at her door. What was she supose to do, he has every right to hate her but she needs him to leave. And leave before he finds out that she still has something of his..... his daughter Sarah Ann.
It is a typical western historical romance except it had the courage to touch upon sensitive issues that in my years have not been touched up in other similar books! Hurray for the courage of the author. The story has its twists and turns and it flows well keeping the reader interested and turning the pages. A good read!
Not the reason for my 2 star, but if you buy the Kindle edition note that there are no "page" breaks and the reading becomes difficult. A scene flows into an other and the switch in pov or subject confused me lot.
