Little Nightmares: Tales to Keep You Awake

Rate this book
Welcome to a chilling collection of short stories that drag your deepest fears into the light... and then switches the lights off.

Within these pages, you'll encounter whispering ghosts, lurking clowns, and spiders that move with unnatural intent.

You'll be buried alive, drown in your dreams, and wake only to die again in an inescapable time loop.

Entire towns vanish without a trace.

A mall Santa hides something far more sinister beneath his velvet suit, and is that... horns?

Each tale is a tightly wound nightmare, perfect for reading with the door locked and the shadows checked. Dare to turn the page?

Be warned, some nightmares don’t end when the story does.

David W. Adams is the author of 18 dark and atmospheric novels spanning horror, sci-fi, and dark fantasy. Born in Wolverhampton, England in 1988 and raised in Telford, David took a non-traditional path, leaving formal education to work full-time, before discovering his passion for writing.

His debut collection of haunting short stories was published in early 2021, born from the isolation of the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, his work has been praised for its emotional depth, chilling atmosphere, and cinematic storytelling.

In 2024, his sci-fi horror novel Horizon won AudiobookReviewer.com's award for Best Dystopian Novel, thanks in part to the gripping narration by frequent collaborator Brandon J. Peterson. A partnership that the following year resulted in Emergence winning Best Team Up.

David now lives on the Isle of Portland in Dorset with his wife, Charlotte. In addition to writing, he designs book covers and reviews books on YouTube and TikTok, where he shares insights into the craft and the indie publishing world.

⭐ "Return to the Dark Corner" by David W. Adams is the perfect sequel that kept me on the edge of my seat, earning a solid 4 stars!

⭐ As a follow-up to "The Dark Corner" series, this book delivered on all fronts. It seamlessly continued the thrilling and mysterious journey that had me captivated from the very beginning.

⭐ What truly impressed me was the clever intertwining of narratives and the cleverly placed easter eggs from the first book. It added an extra layer of enjoyment for readers who had already experienced the first instalment. The way Adams masterfully connected the dots between the stories made the reading experience even more engaging and rewarding.

⭐ Much like the first book, this collection of short stories had me eagerly awaiting what would happen next. The suspense and intrigue in each story were palpable, leaving me constantly wondering and yearning for more.

⭐ "The Dark Corner" & "Return t0 the Dark Corner" are not only excellent standalone reads but also serves as a fantastic introduction to the world of "Wealdstone." It provides glimpses into the lives of the main characters and sets the stage for what promises to be an exciting journey into the full novel.

An amazing read by a talented author, 3 short stories, each one involving a different nightmare.
Not my usual type of read but I have sworn to read literally everything that this author writes.
His ability to involve you in the story with the way his writing flows is immeasurable.

Zombies, teen angst, and clowns... coming soon to a christmas near you 🤣 The short stories in this collection are intense and unputdownable, vivid and wild at times. Cause of death: not what you expect.

Ho, ho, ho.

Brilliant set of short story horrors. You don't have to have read the first book of short stories to read this one - though there are some Easter eggs if you have read book 1! I'd recommend reading both book 1 and 2 of short story horror. The collection of stories are well written, vivid imagery and friendly to new readers of the horror genre. 5/5 stars.

Beta-reader review! This collection scared me more than some of D W Adams' previous stories, particularly the spider one! Different from his other work in that these stories are set in the UK with no apparent ties to his previous work (i.e. the dark corner literary universe). Brilliant for a quick spooky read 📚 👻🕷🕸🌊

Brilliant short story about misplacement, can't go into details as it will give away the story, but all I can say is I looked at my mirror in a whole new light after reading this story.
