When life has let you down every time it picks you up, how do you accept the good without a constant fear of what’s lifting you up becoming the exact thing that tears you apart all over again?

Trevor…..

The world gets really dark when you’re wallowing in self pity after having all of your dreams ripped away from you.

How do you see the light when the life you were supposed to be living is moving on without you in it? When everything around me reminds me that it was all for nothing, I can’t find a light to hold onto.

At least I couldn’t - until I met the sun. The only issue is that life has convinced her she’s a shadow. She relit my world and now I’m on a mission to do the same for her in any way she’ll let me.

Lydia…..

I’ve been working my knuckles to the bone my whole life to keep this ranch afloat, though I don’t know why. It’s not like anyone has stuck around to see it survive.

My life has been a roller coaster with far more downhill slopes than upward climbs and the imbalance of it makes me afraid to look up. The higher you climb, the harder you fall so I keep my head down.

But after a lifetime of accepting this imbalance as my reality, how can one night with a stranger have me wanting to throw the scales of life in my own favor for a change? Am I brave enough to look up?

If I could give more stars than I would. I read this book in a day, ignored my bedtime because priorities lol. I felt every emotion; I cried, giggled (a lot), kicked my feet and probably woke my husband up a few times. I will be rereading the series and craving more. Thank you for creating this world and allowing me to be a part of the arc team!

Dang it Wren, just when I thought I was going to get through the whole book without sobbing… you threw me a screwball in the epilogue.
Brandt and Stevie were my favorite by far but Lydia and Trevor’s relationship was just such a warm fuzzy feeling. This was the absolute most perfect way to end the stone valley series. I hope we read more about them just here and there in your next series!
