Scarlett has a talent for picking all the wrong men. To leave behind her baggage, she starts over in a completely different state and moves in above her uncle’s bar with one stipulation for her new life: no more men. Unfortunately, her place puts her right into the path of the restaurant’s frustratingly sexy regular. A grumpy, tattooed biker who also happens to be one of her uncle’s best friends.
Ryker doesn’t do relationships. Between his dangerous job and even more dangerous history, settling down is not meant for him. Yet he can’t get his mind off the stubborn, sharp-tongued vixen that sashayed into his life and took residence above his favorite bar. A vixen who’s also the niece of one of his closest friends, and therefore off-limits.
However, like a moth to a flame, their quick-witted animosity explodes into a frenzied clash of passion that burns bright, crashes hard, and keeps them coming back for more. A secretive, no-strings-attached arrangement can only last so long before the crackle between them demands more, but walls of unhealed trauma hold them at a distance precarious to them both.

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of Clashing, and it was honestly such a joy to read. From page one, Jaide Harley’s writing swept me straight back into the world she creates so effortlessly full of heart, heat, and characters that feel like they could be your friends (or maybe your biggest temptation).
I loved reading about someone so relatable. Scarlett’s personality, her struggles, and her strength really resonated with me on a personal level. She’s the kind of character you can root for because you see pieces of yourself in her.
I’ve been so grateful to follow this story first on Patreon and now again through this ARC release. Experiencing it in both forms has only made me love it more. I truly hope everyone gets the chance to pick this up when it releases and enjoy it just as much as I have.
If you’re looking for a romance that blends passion with genuine emotional depth and leaves you smiling, swooning, and maybe a little teary? Clashing is one to add to your TBR immediately.
Before I begin, I was given an ARC for an honest review.
First, there is a lot of spice, so if that isn’t your cup of tea, do not read this. Scarlett and Ryker are two of the strongest MC. They both have really hard past traumas (check your TW) but the way Jaide wrote about it? Breathe taking. I personally feel like she did a wonderful job. There was no sugar coating, but it wasn’t over done. The characters are also very relatable. I feel like the situations they had, are not exaggerated. They deal with very real life problems.
Scarlett is very relatable. She is independent, strong, and charismatic. Also the New Mexico representation? Hello.
Ryker? Give me that man. Sorry, Scarlett. 💀 I know he’s the bad boy that no one can have, except Scarlett. He’s the type that “touch her and you die”.
During my read, I was going through some personal issues, so it took me longer than I would have liked to read this. That was not Jaide’s fault. The writing is done well. It was like a movie in my head the entire time.
This book is full of passion, banter, and growth.
I did not read this on Patreon, so I’m not sure what it looked like before. But this final copy? Loved it. The story was amazing. I’ve only ever read Jaide’s “Romantasy” so this was a nice change for me. Seeing that this author can do more than paranormal was amazing. I’m so proud.
This is an up and coming author that I absolutely adore!!! This story is engaging from start to finish and I couldn’t put it down. Would recommend to all and any contemporary romance fans! Also we love an inclusive protagonist! 🫶🫶🫶
Thank you to Jaide Harley for choosing me to receive an arc of Clashing. I was immediately hooked from the playlist. The fmc and mmc had an instant attraction to one another shown through immediate shameless flirting with on another. The representation shown through Scarlett and Ryker individually and in their relationship was beautiful. They welcomed, encouraged, and accepted the rough parts of each other and together helped each other take the steps to heal. I also loved Rykers dogs.
This book is going to take you on a roller coaster of emotions. The FMC moves in with a family friend after a horrific event and is recovering when she meets the MMC. They have immediate chemistry but they are both so damaged. There is miscommunication and lots of drama but damn the spice is worth it. First read from this author and can’t wait to see what else they write! Great read!
This book was sooo good. I was hooked right from the start by how intense and vulnerable Scarlett and Ryker were with each other. What really made it stand out for me was seeing them grow—not just together, but as individuals too.
Jaide did such a good job making them feel real. They were messy and flawed in all the best ways, and their growth actually felt natural. Like, you could really see them learning and becoming more self-aware as everything played out.
By the end, it was just so satisfying to see how far they’d come.
It’s honestly rare to find a book where the emotional growth feels this real. Highly recommend!!
Clashing is so electric, sassy, healing and sexy. Had me gasping for air half the time from laughter and clutching my pearls the other half. Scarlet and Ryker’s dynamic is so passionate, raw and wholesome and their banter is top tier. Jaide tackles mental health and trauma so delicately, it makes for a refreshing and cathartic read. Utter rollercoaster ride of emotions.
I want to thank Jaide Harley for giving me the chance to be a arc reader!
This books is really fast past and is a perfect dark romance for those that love alot of spice/sex scenes! This is a very fast paced, fast burn, touch her or you die kind of book.
You have the FMC scarlet (scar, sugar) and you have the MMC Ryker. They have a connection almost from the start of the book and they have their ups and downs etc. the connection between the characters is beautiful but unrealistic at the start but you start to love them throughout the book as well as there relationship even though they’re very hot and cold to each other.
I would’ve loved more of a plot but it was enjoyable either way however it is very heavy on the romance and the graphic spicy scenes which I’m not used to with this authors style of writing which was unusual for me, however I think it was still written beautifully and had some good plots.
I loved the PCOS and Endometriosis representation in the book and it was explained slightly in the book which I liked as a pcos/endo girly myself. I felt I could relate to the FMC a lot! I also think the author portrayed PTSD very well and it kind made you almost feel you were living that moment within the book!
Please do read the warnings of the contents of this book before reading as it does have some heavy themes throughout 💜

This isn’t a romance that whispers sweetly; it slams into you with fire and desire. The chemistry between Scarlett and Ryker in Clashing is so intense it feels almost tangible. The fact that their relationship is completely off-limits only makes it hotter.
They’re messy, so real, and complete opposites. Watching them clash and slowly help each other heal in such a raw, emotional way made their romance feel completely alive.
Jaide blends passion and vulnerability perfectly. I didn’t just read this book; I felt it deep in my bones.
I feel incredibly grateful to have had the honor of reading this as an ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily. Be sure to check out Jaide Harley’s Patreon for more of her amazing work!
When I first read this book, I couldn't put it down, reading it again as an ARC reader has reminded me that it is one of my favorite books and i again couldnt put it down until finished. I love the connection these two have with each other and especially love the spice 🥵. I'm in love with Scarletts sass and Rykers' protectiveness. Jaide is honestly my favorite author. I have enjoyed watching her grow from wattpad to patreon to publishing two of her books. ❤️
I’ve followed Jaide since 2020 and loved all her work! It was so fun to read her first published book! Clashing is such a good romance that really hooks you from the start. Scarlett is such a great and sassy FMC and watching her grow and develop in her romance and out is worth the read!
This book is for the angst lovers. The ones who love two messy people, who find the one person they want to be the best for. This book is majority angst, but there is a HEA that reminds you people make mistakes, but they can apologize, they can be better, they can put in the work to grow.
Please check the content warnings because some of the topics in this book are very heavy.
Even better than the first time I read it on Wattpad! Scarlett and Ryker are so great together, both despite and because of their individual traumas. Their banter and flirting make this such a fun read that I couldn't put down!
Truly the complete package of spice, love and growth.
I cannot emphasise enough how having the female character be so strong yet hiding a part of herself so vulnerable from everybody made me shatter a little bit from the inside when reading Scarlett's POV. All her vulnerability is free with Ryker, her demands, her demons, her difficulties. She tries to hide them but like twin flames, he's the only one that manages to see through her.
Ryker on the other hand, he's a looker that's for sure, but the pretty ones have more history to them. Despite him being a "bad boy", he's quite the gentleman which left me wondering where can I get a guy to braid my hair? His tattoos, his whiskey, his muscles and his dark style, all try to cover the softness that doesn't take long to reveal itself in the book.
Both the characters having separate POVs let's us understand them more which is why I love Ryker as much as Scarlett if not more. It's rare to see books with such fleshed-out characters, people that you might meet in real life, a normal love story that could happen to everyone, one that lets you dream of finding a Ryker or being a girl boss like Scarlett, and the art background was just the cherry on top. A perfect mix of slow-burn, healing and romance, like all good reads should be.
Scarlett is a strong willed 22 year old artist whos inherited her mother's bad taste in men. When that lands her in the hospital she knows she needs a change of scenery, She finds that by packing up and moving states away to live in the apartment above her uncle's bar. Having sworn off men Scarlet sets out to not only find her independence but make a name for herself in the art community.
Ryker is an exmilitary, motorcycle riding, bounty hunting bad boy and when Scarlett runs into him at her uncle's bar its lust at first sight. Maybe instead of swearing off men Scarlett can just swear off relationships. Clashing is a spicy adult romance that not only checks all the smutty boxes but makes you catch feelings, shead tears, and cuss Jaide because it really feels like she just wants to hurt us then turn around and try to rectify it with a HEA ending... which yes, yes it makes it better but why do you always gotta be making me cry.
I received an ARC copy of this book from the author, and it is truly remarkable! The characters are incredibly relatable, and their journeys are utterly captivating, drawing you in with every turn of the page. The plot twists are expertly crafted, keeping you on the edge of your seat and eagerly anticipating what comes next. The author’s writing style is both vivid and eloquent, creating scenes so vividly that you feel as if you are right there alongside the characters. Themes of friendship, resilience, and self-discovery are seamlessly woven throughout the narrative, providing both inspiration and introspection. I wholeheartedly recommend this book to anyone in search of an engaging and heartfelt read; it’s a story that will linger in your mind long after you’ve reached the final page.
When I read this a couple of years ago I LOVED it!!! And now that I've had the opportunity to read it as an ARC reader reminds me of how much this story touched me. Ryker and Scarlett's love story is one of my absolute favorites. Theres banter, spice, and so much growth from both FMC & MMC. They grow together as well as on their own and its beautiful to see. I can't wait to have a hard copy of this masterpiece on my bookshelf. And I can't wait for others to enjoy this book just as much as I did. When I first started reading Jaide Harley's work on Wattpad I knew she had a gift for writing and I am so happy that she's slowly starting to release her work for the world to enjoy.
Three years ago, I found Jaide Harley on Wattpad and binge-read every single one of her stories. I’ve had the honor of watching her publish her first book… and now we’re here celebrating her second. To say I’m proud is an understatement.
If you love a dirty-talking, tatted biker and an FMC who loves just as hard as she fights meet Ryker and Scarlett in Clashing.
Ryker will ruin you in the best way, and Scarlett? She’s the kind of FMC who stays with you long after the last page.
So do me a favor and snag this book and read it ASAP!!!
I was fortunate enough to receive an ARC of this book. Though I’ve read it already from Jaide’s wattpad and patreon, re-reading it still gives me the feels that I know the author wants me to feel. More than the steamy (and it’s very steamy) encounters of Scarlett and Ryker, I thoroughly enjoyed Scarlett’s relationship with Dan, her positive vibe, and her ability to BE beyond her past (you go, gurl!). A very pleasant read. So go get your copy now!
Jaide has written a beautiful story here. the characters are engaging and well developed. She made me cry, laugh, get frustrated and think. In short a full range of emotions.
She has produced another book that will leave you wanting more.
The story was good, I enjoyed it. The pace was a bit slow for me, there was a lot of back and forth, 2 steps forward 3 steps back type thing between the main characters, and it was a bit annoying for me.
I first read this book on Wattpad years ago and was OBSESSED! I am sooooo happy Jaide decided to publish this. Such a good book with a great plot, amazing banter and characters! Highly recommend!
