I received a free copy of, Summer Camp Sleuths, by Bethany Latham, from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Connor loves solving mysteries and puzzles, he has to go to summer camp, but is hopeful he will have mysteries to solve at camp, and hopefully friends to meet. This was a cute story, I enjoyed the mystery and Connor and his friends at camp.

Thanks so much to Jolly Fish Press/North Star Editions and Netgalley for the ebook to read and review.

Cooper goes to camp hoping he can find cases to solve through the summer and maybe even some friends. On his first day he gets a case and makes two friends. Then soon a bigger case appears involving the rival summer camp.

Such a fun summer camp mystery story, I really liked how the mystery’s unfolded themselves, they were really simple but perfect for a young child to solve. It was great that they were constantly finding things to solve but that lead to a greater and bigger mystery.

I also really liked that the two camps were forced together after their troubles with each other. I liked how they had to solve a crime together and almost become friends in the process. It was a really fun and sweet mystery book, perfect for younger readers, the mystery may be easy to solve but they were still enjoyable and very cute.

Summer Camp Sleuths by Bethany Latham and illustrated by Marianne Constable

This is a beginner chapter book that will delight any child girl or boy.
Cooper's idols are Sherlock Holmes and Detective Dan. He has always dreamed of being a detective, but the children at school make fun of him and don't take him seriously.
Cooper goes to summer camp and starts writing down cases in the journal Mom gave him. He makes friends with Max and Calab and calls them his Watson. Together that summer they solve a number of cases at the camp and get very popular.
This gives Cooper the confidence he needs.
This is a book about chasing your dreams, friendship and teamwork.
This is a great chapter book and very enjoyable to read.

I received an electronic ARC from North Star Editions | Jolly Fish Press through NetGalley.
Delightful and fun story about a young boy who wants to be a detective. The book is set up as a diary as he records thoughts and information from his time at summer camp. After solving his first mystery, he makes two friends who join with him to become the Summer Camp Sleuths. Together, they help campers and staff locate missing items. The culprit is a bit of surprise though astute readers may recognize the clues along the way.
A fun read for mid-elementary level readers. Could be a read together or a read to themselves. Looking forward to more in this series.

- I received this book from NetGalley -

Summer Camp Sleuths is a great early chapter book. The chapters were not too long, and it was able to get the message across with out a lot of descriptive words.

Cooper is on his way to summer camp, but what he really wants to do is be a sleuth, like his favourite Sherlock Holmes! He finds a mystery right off the bat, and while solving it gets forms two new friendships. They even are able to solve the case!

Hopefully they continue with this series, as it is a good segway into chapter books, and the story makes it not so daunting to finish. Especially if they are always able to solve the case!

This is a cute story about a kid who loves puzzle and hoping to use that as a way to make friends. Luckily he did, and they came across a big case for them to solve. They have to work together and be brave to solve the mystery.

It's a sweet story. I would say, the book was listed for middle grade, but I feel like early elementary school age can enjoy this as well with adult assist.

Thanks NetGalley & Lux /Jolly Fish Press imprints/North Star Editions for the ARC.

Summer_Camp_Sleuths is a great option for kids just moving into chapter books. It's a simple read with different mysteries, characters and even some interpersonal conflict. The mysteries are easy for advanced readers, but this book would be a great one to read out loud together and discuss theories before finishing the chapter. The final mystery ties earlier ones together and resolves the interpersonal conflict with the other campers. Everything ties up nice and tidy in the end.
