Vainglory #2

Vainglory 2: A LitRPG Adventure

Rate this book
An action-packed LitRPG Fantasy full of mystery, danger, and rising power.

Ward Dyer survived Nevkin the Warlock—but the price of victory is still unfolding. With Haley at his side, he journeys to Westview, a treacherous port city where whispers of cults and forgotten gods echo through the alleys. Their goal is secure passage aboard a living ship to the water-world of Springsea.

But death finds them first. A ritual murder draws Ward into an investigation that fuses his hard-won detective instincts with his awakening magic. The deeper he digs, the clearer it the cult’s reach extends far beyond Westview…and back to Nevkin himself.

An ancient tower—one of the feared Vainglory Challenges—looms over the city, promising secrets, power, and peril. Drawn inside with new allies, Ward and Haley must navigate deadly traps, unravel hidden truths, and confront forces eager to claim their souls. All while a primal, animalistic bloodline stirs within Ward, threatening to reshape him in ways he barely understands.

From Plum Parrot, bestselling author of Victor of Tucson and Cyber Dreams, comes the second thrilling chapter of the Vainglory saga—a world where mystery coils through every shadow and survival demands courage, cunning, and a will to change before the darkness does it for you.

Book 2 in this new Fantasy LitRPG Adventure by Plum Parrot, where the line between hero and villain blurs as the MC must take on a seemingly impossible series of challenges.

Plum Parrot is the pen name of author MC Gallup, who grew up in Southern Arizona and spent much of his youth wandering around the Sonoran Desert, hunting imaginary monsters and building forts. He studied creative writing at the University of Arizona and, for a number of years, attempted to teach middle schoolers to love literature and write their own stories. If he's not out walking his Airedale Terrier, you can find Gallup writing, reading his favorite authors, or playing D&D with friends and family.

I honestly probably wouldn't have picked this up if it hadn't been Plum Parrot's name on it. Fortunately, I had a great time anyway. The slippery slope for this Isekai'd cop is getting more and more slippery. I mean, what's with a little lycanthropy to spice up your day? Soul stealing? Horse mutilation?

He's a good man! Good friends. Law abiding and law aiding. Who cares if he rarely takes in prisoners now? They were all coming for him and his buds!

Ah, the glory still awaits. Take just another step.

Great!

I feel like this series came into its own with the sequel. The world building and characters might be my favorite from Plum Parrot yet.
