The Inheritance: A Cozumel Island Adventure

Rate this book
Approaching thirty, Bex life takes an unexpected turn when an inheritance leads her to a Mexican island, where she'll find romance, deception, and a mystery awaiting her.

Raised by her aunt since the age of ten, Bex believed she knew everything about the woman who raised her. After a tragic accident, she discovers otherwise. Hidden among her aunt's secrets is a letter asking Bex to spend a year on the island, immersing herself in its culture and stepping outside her comfort zone before receiving her inheritance.

Reluctantly, Bex trades her routine city life for turquoise water and sun-drenched streets. The island quickly works its magic. She is welcomed into a lively circle of friends, discovers a world beneath the sea she never imagined, and a charming stranger quickly captures her attention. For the first time, the life she left behind begins to feel far away.

But as her feelings deepen, Bex realizes the man she is falling for may be hiding something important.

When one of their friends suddenly disappears, the group is left searching for answers. As suspicion grows and loyalties are tested, Bex must navigate shifting relationships and unsettling truths while standing beside the friends who have become her new family.

Exploring themes of taking risks, facing fears, and embracing change, The Inheritance blends friendship, romance, and a touch of mystery against the backdrop of island life.

A love story for Cozumel

What I loved most about this book was how deeply the author clearly loves Cozumel. The island doesn’t feel like just a setting. it feels alive. Adrienne Baerny writes about it with so much warmth and respect that you can practically feel the ocean air and hear the rhythm of daily Island life. It’s like she’s inviting you into a place she knows by heart. The way she describes the people, the pace, the hidden corners of the island you can tell she really understands and cherishes the true spirit of Cozumel, not just the tourist version. The island actually ends up being a huge part of the main character’s emotional journey, almost like it’s guiding her. If you love stories where the setting matters just as much as the plot, this is one of those books; just be prepared find yourself booking a flight to the island.

Fun Beach Read

The author paints vivid pictures of the characters and locations. I can’t wait to hear what happens in Book 2.
