This book is part of my general attempt currently to read things that I'm likely to disagree with. But I have a lot of respect for Hunter and what he's aiming to do within evangelical politics.
Hunter calls for conservative Christians to refocus their political energy, and to realize the danger that comes with aligning so strongly with a single political party. He argues that the current vogue of Christians-as-Republicans has proven incredibly damaging to the church and Christians alike.
What's missing to me - as usual in something like this - is a genuine analysis of power, or a real examination of the motives behind making strictly controlled gender roles such a major tenet of both Christian faith and politics.
Still, I'm curious to know how those who are really in Hunter's target audience (which is not me) respond to his ideas.
