Superbly written! The first few chapters were heavily meteorologically based, which wasn't easy for me to keep up with. But the story was so compelling, the characters so authentic and the setting aptly described that it blew me away! Bravo!

An outstanding meteorological mystery/thriller

Initiation: The Horizon Directive, book 1 is about storm chaser Beck Maddox documenting aberrant tornado behavior and something he is hitting on is setting off alarms in the government. First, its storms behaving completely in contrast with established models. Then his submissions to the NWS start going missing. Then his private data is corrupted. Teaming up with atmospheric researcher Samantha Reyes, who is watching the same anomalies, they set out to find the truth, regardless of where it takes them after a a single night saw mass casualties in 4 states with no warning.

This is a hugely enjoyable book in a genre that never gets the attention it deserves: meteorological thrillers! The writing is superb, with complicated characters, uncertain motives, a plot that makes the impossible seem everyday, legitimately researched science, and just enough chemistry between Maddox and Reyes to keep things interesting. This is probably the best meteorological thriller I've read and ends on a massive cliffhanger that will have me downloading Book 2 as soon as I hit 'submit' on this review!

Overall, 5/5 stars! Highly, highly recommended to weather geeks like me and anyone interested in an excellent read a bit off the beaten path!

Old School vs high tech conflict carries storyline of run amuck weather.

Fascinating character study of weather storm chaser Beck Maddox and Stephanie Reyes who are trying to protect the public from unusual weather systems.

I really like the character study more than the plot. An interesting and engaging thought provoking study of manipulation and control,

But it is ends on a cliff hanger. Not convinced that I will follow through to see where this goes. A bit too fantastic to think that tornadoes can be used as weapons.

I'm a sucker for tornado stories. This one read like a movie script and to be honest I would definitely watch it.
