What do you do when fate throws a missed connection from your past into your orbit all these years later?
Spencer Hale moves to Meadow Springs, South Carolina after his best friend's dad offers him a lead architect position at his construction company. But commuting between two jobs doesn't leave much time for dates— not that he's interested anyway.
At least, that's what Spencer believes until a woman he met one night in college slides into the booth next to him at the local diner. When he sees the engagement ring on her left hand, he squashes the small bit of hope flaring in his chest.
Emmaline Jones feels like her life is perfect. She's finally engaged to NFL Tight End, Chance Collins and recently moved to Charleston where she works as an ER Nurse.
Now being only half an hour from her hometown of Meadow Springs, she's ready to start wedding planning with her mom and best friends.
That is until she comes home sick from work to hear moaning from her bedroom and realizes Chance is in their bed with another woman. The only thing Emmaline can think to do is end her relationship, move back home to lick her wounds, and figure out what this means for her future.
Emmaline's ex becomes increasingly unpredictable, and Spencer grows tired of fielding advances from the single women and their mothers in town. So, to get everyone off their backs, the two hatch a pretend to date one another.
An easy friendship blooms between the two. But how long can feelings from the past stay buried when the lines of what's real and what's fake, start to blur?
Let me start off by saying that I have never seen a “Dicktionary” glossary before, and I loved it! In this book, we get fake dating, slow burn, small town, found family, and he falls first. Great tropes, which gave the book potential. What I didn’t like, was how a lot of aspects felt almost over explained and it effected the flow of the story for me. With all the added filler, it made the book feel longer than it needed to be. The dynamic between Spencer and Emmaline was cute! I liked how they both were very much there for each other, had great communication, and did things for each other because they genuinely cared. Overall a cute debut! Thank you, Luna Literary Management and the author, for allowing me to read ARC in exchange for an honest review. 2.75 stars
This was tough because a lot of the puzzles pieces I love were here - right person, wrong time, fake dating, friends to lovers, some mutual pining, a little "who did this to you" but it just never came together for me.
You can tell that this book is trying to set up a longer series because there just were more and more characters being introduced at every turn, but it never felt organic and there were tons of set ups for tropes in future books. Sometimes, I noticed inconsistencies in maybe location or timing or places where we're kind of thinking Spencer's parents weren't living in the small town and he had moved there for a job, but then he's going over to his mom's house to fix a sink and she's trying to set him up on a date? There was a lot of telling the reader about things, but not showing the reader things and that got a little frustrating as we kept getting to know these characters. I didn't want Spencer to TELL me he didn't like saying women were crazy (and then say it), I wanted him to just not say women were crazy.
Which brings me to maybe my biggest beef - all of the women in this small town (who weren't main characters) were painted as marriage hungry, love starved, man traps. Which then sets up the FMC (and all the future FMCs of the obviously planned series) to be "I'm not like other girls" kind of cool girls. All the older women were just trying to set up their daughters who were all obsessed with marriage and babies and getting a man - even down to pre-teens - so that they could get grandbabies, regardless of whether the man or woman (but it was always the man who didn't want to be set up) in question actually wanted to be set up. The bit where Mia says she can't flirt with Beckett anymore when she finds out he has a girlfriend because "I'm not a homewrecker" was a red flag. Beckett is the one in a relationship with someone, not Mia, and if a girl flirting with him pulls Beckett away from that relationship - that's on HIM, not Mia.
And then there's Spencer and Emmaline. Spencer is written as a god among mortals, the best of the book boyfriends and Emmaline is a door mat people pleaser who seems to be dumb somehow? She's blocked the ex on everything but he's still sending texts with dresses she should wear? And, that ex treated her like crap (before he became abusive) and she only ended things when he cheated on her multiple times and a friend encouraged her to hear him out?? I just get the idea that the author just doesn't really like women. I don't know. This was just not the vibe.
Where do I even begin!!! Obviously I’m biased bc one of my best most treasured friends wrote this book, but dammit if it wasn’t beautiful and wonderful and perfect.
Emmy and Spencer were so sweet and patient with each other and their friendships and relationships with their families really made the whole thing so special 😭 it took more than half the book for them to finally bone but I didn’t even care bc I was equally invested in their friends and families! The found family aspect of their friendships feels so genuine, and the way their two circles overlap feels so natural. And the family drama of it all! Can’t wait to see how everything unfolds as the series goes on.
ALSO I cannot stress enough how much I enjoyed the third act conflict not being between the two of them.
Ultimately this was such a cozy and refreshing read, and such a solid start to this series! I think Emmy and Spencer and their story have laid such a dreamy foundation for everyone else and I can’t wait to see where it goes!
Emmaline is the FMC and she’s engaged to Chance, a NFL player. He’s an arrogant jerk and when she comes home early one day, the stuff hits the fan. She goes home to her parents…
Then the real MMC, Spencer shows up. They actually met years ago and talked all night at a Halloween party. He’s actually been sort of pining after her.
In the meantime, Chance is getting really weird and stalkerish…
This is the author’s debut novel, according to the acknowledgement at the end. It’s so fun! I really enjoyed it. The characters are lots of fun and people you’d want to be friends with!
KU read, and a very solid four star read. This was really good.
Don't let my rating discourage you from picking this book up!
I loved that you got a detailed description of each character. The author really tried to make each character relatable and real. And 100%, Mia was my favorite side character. She has such a big heart and no filter. Made me smile every time.
I did have a problem with the drawn-out conversations between the main characters. It's very descriptive but just too long for me.
All in all, it's a good read. Great pallet cleanser between deep feeling books. If you're into fake-dating, he falls first, and open-door romance, this is a book for you.
Spencer is such an ideal book boyfriend . I liked this book a lot. The only downside is there are a lot of friend characters and it’s hard to remember who is who. I’m dying to learn more about Mia and if she gets with B!
Great debut book! Loved it !! Super good spice too
First of all , congratulations on your debut novel! I’ve never been so proud of a stranger - from having a dream of writing a book and to making that a reality is definitely something to be proud of!
Emmaline and Spencer’s love story was one of a kind .
They were the cutest fake couple . They had great chemistry, passion and mutual attraction .. and sexual tension ? On FIRE!! Hillary kindly provided the dicktionary at the front of the book - so THANK YOU for that !
Spencer was a true gentleman. He knew how to support and give Emmy everything she needed and wanted . He was a green flag. He was caring , sympathetic and a whole opposite to her ex . Fake dating with a girl he’d been crushing on had never been easier .
Emmaline had a lot of issues with an angry ex that was harassing her and with the help of those around her she was able to to gain confidence from the shell of a woman she was forced to become . She was a victim in many ways but her strength was something I admired . At times I did think she was a little too exhausting for Spencer but honestly he took everything in his stride and he was ready to show her they belonged together , whilst letting her set the pace
I will admit as much as I loved the friendship group and family of all of the characters it did feel a little overwhelming to be thrown a lot of names . I know this was done to set up the characters for their own books. I can’t wait to have updates on these pair through the series .
If you’re looking for a cosy , small town , sweet read (a little angst ) with fake dating and heaps of spice then this book would be perfect for you! I’m used to red flag MMCs so it was definitely refreshing to have a swoon worthy Spencer that manages to take care of ALL Emmaline’s needs and worries
……..
I did find this a little harder to read . Something was missing , I think maybe the pacing of the story I’m not sure. There seemed to be more than one storylines and that did throw me off and made it a little harder to connected .. For me a relationship should be balanced and although Emmaline managed to drop her guarded walls and allow herself to love and be loved it was Spencer that gave more . All the dates , all the effort all the support that came from him ..
“You lose , Daredevil!” , “ Actually , I think I won , Buttercup.”
✨ Thank you Hillary Leigh and Luna Management for this arc in return for an honest review ✨
Oh my gosh, the way I DEVOURED this book. Literally…ATE. IT. UP. I could not put it down and wanted more immediately. I am at a loss for words that this is Hillary’s first book – it was filled with so many of my favorite things. First being that it’s a “he falls first” down bad MMC… that one gets me every time. Then you pair that with a second chance romance with a side of fake dating and found family and I am an absolute goner.
Spencer is every single thing you would want in a man and one that will always show up. Emmaline is in a toxic on the rocks relationship and ends up moving back home. After a run in with her past… her Daredevil, she is instantly right back in all the feelings and memories. With her confidence shattered, fresh off the heels of her cheating ex/breakup, she offers a fake dating proposition to Spencer. She was not prepared for the way he engulfs her completely in the best ways and allows her to see she deserves it all and so much more.
I loved that he ended up being a safe place for Emmaline in many ways. One being that in her previous relationship she didn’t feel empowered to voice what she wanted sexually, and her needs were not a priority. I was OBSESSED to see how Spencer encouraged her to tell him what she wanted and helped her feel comfortable in her own skin to initiate and experience new things. I loved seeing this, and would love to see more of this out there.
Saving the best for last…this book might have the BEST GIRL GANG OF ALL TIME. The chokehold these side characters have on me is next level. I fell hard for Mia almost immediately but was in DEEP after seeing her angsty banter and confrontational interactions with Clark (aka Beckett). I am beyond invested in all of them and desperately need more.
This book was a 10/10 for me and Hillary is a 100% auto read author for me now, do yourself a favor and read this book!! Thank you for allowing me ARC read this book it was an absolute pleasure!!
What to expect: ✨Fake Dating ✨Girl Next Door x Cinnamon Roll ✨Slow Burn ✨He Falls First ✨Found Family ✨Small Town
I was really looking forward to this as I love he falls first its my favourite troupe. I did struggle getting into this and nearly DNF'd a few times. I would like to preface this review that 2 out of 5 is not too bad a review as 2.5 is average for me to score and I know this is a first time author.
Firstly these might be a me problem however I dislike multiple characters with similar names we have twins in this Colette and Cori so off to a bad start for me. Also hate when people are referred too as different things by different people i.e. the MMC is Jay to his brother and Spencer to everyone else. Lastly multiple nicknames just stick with one we don't need buttercup and short stack just pick one.
As this is the first book you expect a bit of getting to know you and this was done ok however name consistency would be helpful.
Emmaline was ok she was in a pretty rubbish relationship with Chance I am not 100% sure why she had said yes to a proposal as it seemed like the relationship wasn't serving her at all however she did and then caught Chance cheating. I really wish she had confronted him a little more or fully ghosted him I didn't like the in-between she landed in. I felt like Emmaline could have been a little stronger I get she kind of strayed away from confrontation however I would of liked her to stick up for herself a little more it felt a bit wishy washy.
Spencer was really quite sweet and patient possibly a little too sweet for me. Their whole relationship felt very surface level everything was 100% perfect for them and it all worked out there was hardly any conflict and the story line with Chance was disappointing.
I like the second chance we might have with Theo and Collette and the Mai and Beckett developing relationship I just worry that we saw a fair amount of both relationships in this book and you don't want to read repeats.
“You lose, Daredevil!” “Actually, I think I won, Buttercup.”
Big congratulations to Hillary Leigh on her debut novel! This was such a cute and cozy read, filled with some of my favorite tropes: Fake Dating, Right Person/Wrong Time, Protective MMC, and more. Spencer was truly an ideal book boyfriend! He consistently rooted for Emmaline, listened to her, and helped her see her own worth. We love a man who lifts his heroine up!
That said, there were moments where the story didn’t fully land for me. A few elements occasionally pulled me out of the narrative, which made it a bit harder to stay immersed. For example, Emmaline’s ex-boyfriend’s character arc sometimes felt overly dramatic for the age range of the characters, and while I recognize that immature men like this exist, his behavior occasionally came across as exaggerated. Additionally, since this is the start of a series, I understand the need to introduce supporting characters, though at times those introductions felt a little clunky or distracting from the main storyline.
Still, I really enjoyed Spencer and Emmaline as individual characters and as a couple. Their Halloween meet-cute, Daredevil and Buttercup, was delightful and delivered those swoony, giddy romance feels.
Overall, this is a strong debut and a solid start to what I’m sure will be a wonderful series. Now that the foundation has been set, I have no doubt Hillary Leigh will continue to grow as an author and give readers even more to love in the books to come.
Thanks to Luna Literary and Hillary Leigh for the Arc!
"You Found Me" was a very cute book. It had so many tropes that I love including small town romance, he falls first, faking dating, and found family. The romance between Emmaline and Spencer was so precious that it always had me smiling and feeling warm and fuzzy. I loved the friend group as well!! All the banter and diverse dynamics among them all was amazing and fun!
Emmaline is an engaged woman who doesn't feel like her love is reciprocated by her fiancé. She feels invisible to him and doesn't know when it all went wrong. When she decides to end things and move back home, she never expected the dreamy Daredevil to waltz back into her life.
Spencer is the perfect cinnamon roll boyfriend! I love how much he cares for Emmaline and sees her for her. He is constantly looking for ways to show her how incredible and strong she is. He tries to suppress his feelings at first, but when he realizes how much he really cares, he has to come clean.
I loved the drama with Emmaline's ex but it would've been nice to have a little bit more. I felt like the story was building up to something big happening and felt a little sad when their final confrontation wasn't what I was expecting. I also felt there was a lot of added information or elongated information that made the story seem longer than it was. I had a hard time getting through some parts because it just felt like too much information.
Overall, I enjoyed Spencer and Emmaline's story. It was fun story to get into and I am grateful for the ARC read from Luna Literary Management and the author.
Hey, this book really said “we’re gonna soft-launch your feelings and then wreck you just a little” and I liked it.
Emmy and Spencer’s story is cozy, sweet, and has just the right touch of chaos to keep you hooked. They’ve got history, they’ve got chemistry, and now they’ve got a fake dating arrangement that fools literally no one but themselves. The tension????? Pristine. The pining??????? Unmatched. And the eventual payoff????? Worth every second of slow-burn suffering.
Spencer is a walking green flag, patient, steady, and the kind of book boyfriend who knows when to step up and when to let Emmy breathe. Emmy’s journey back to herself after heartbreak is messy and real, and watching her slowly open up again made me root for her even harder.
The friendships, the overlapping families, the found-family chaos, all of it makes Meadow Springs feel like a place you want to get stuck in, even if just for the gossip. There are a lot of names to keep up with, but honestly, I know every single one is a breadcrumb for future drama and I’m eating it up anyway.
Fake dating, unresolved tension, small-town drama, and a swoony MMC who sets the bar unreasonably high. A strong, sweet start to what’s clearly going to be an addictive series.
You Found Me, the first book in the Meadow Springs series, follows Spencer, an architect, and Emmaline, an ER nurse, as they reconnect after Emmaline’s disastrous breakup. They had previously met in college, but Emmaline was already dating her ex. Spencer had always harbored feelings for Emmaline, but she was with her ex, so he remained friends with her. After the breakup, Spencer and Emmaline started to grow closer and hatched a plan to fake date to deter her ex and his meddling family members. However, the fake dating didn’t last long once their feelings were revealed.
I really wanted to like this book, but it just fell flat for me. I enjoy long books, but this one felt like it dragged on, and I had to take several breaks to finish it. The story felt jumbled together, with things either repeated too much or overexplained, which affected the narrative. Emmaline and her friends also felt a bit childish for their age, almost as if they were still in college in the way they talked. There was a lot of telling the reader about things rather than showing them, and there were a lot of characters that popped up all over the book.
Overall, it was a cute story, and I did enjoy Spencer and Emmaline’s relationship as they grew closer together. However, I just wanted a little more succinct detail of the plot. Thank you, Luna Literary, for providing me with the ARC for an honest review.
- such a cute and spicy small town romance! Really good book to read if you want close knit family and friends with lots of personality that you would read their books. Emmy mets Spencer at a diner back in her home town but they have realised they have met before at a college Halloween party. Sadly Emmy is engaged to a dickhead but of course it doesn’t take long and finds him cheating on her and leaves to live with her best friend and next to Spencer. Things start of slow, like a small friendship with him always being there for her and taking care of her. They start fake dating to help him away from being set up by her mum and her showing her ex she’s moved on but if course over time this changes. They are perfect for eachother, they are soulmates and just need eachother. Spencer is amazing and attentive and has already fallen for her. Of course the spice is spicing. Both can’t keep there hands off eachother and love getting it on in all the places. Really enjoyed this book! Only thing I did think lacked was the build up of conflict with her ex, it looked to be building to something with more drama but ended with a confrontation and that’s pretty much it, did expect more but still enjoyed the book.

I honestly didn’t expect to enjoy this book as much as I did and I can’t thank Hillary enough for writing this small town romance 😭 The fake dating trope always gets me but this novel had me getting giddy in my seat! The found family between Emmaline and her friends was so comforting, I felt like I was apart of the group! The witty banter to the sexual tension of the characters felt like the book flew by leaving me wanting more.
I thought this book was the perfect length as other factors kept the plot moving apart from the love interests. Chance is a real douche-canoe… but Spencer is the cherry on top for book boyfriends - @hillaryleigh he’s made the top 10!
Anyone who is wanting an easy romance with a side of troubled of exes is in for a real treat and I can’t wait to read future books set in this town. I’m already thinking of B and Mia 😩
Coming out 27th August so pre-order now or be sure to purchase it on release! You won’t want to miss this read 🥰
Tropes: 🧇 Fake dating 🌻 Slow burn 🧇 Small town romance 🌻 Found family 🧇 He falls first 🌻 Girl next door x new guy in town
Okay, listen. For a debut? Hillary Leigh said: let me toss all your favourite tropes into a blender and serve it with extra swoon. And it worked. Fake dating ✅ Missed connections ✅ Small town + supportive friend group ✅ A hero who is basically the human version of a golden retriever ✅
Spencer and Emmaline had a chance once and missed it, but fate clearly ships them harder than we do. When life throws Emmaline back home (with a broken engagement and a whole lot of ex-drama), Spencer steps up in the sweetest way possible. Their fake relationship? Yeah… no one was buying it. Not even them. 🤣 The slow build from comfort to chemistry was the best kind of payoff.
And can we talk about the friend group? 😍They gave the story this warm, found-family glow that makes you want to pull up a chair and stay awhile. You can already tell this series is going to have that bingeable, “just one more chapter” energy.
If you enjoy these tropes, then you need to pick up this book!
🪻Fake dating 🌷Missed connection 🪻Friends to lovers 🌷Found family 🪻Cinnamon-roll hero
Thank you, Luna Literary Management and Hillary, for this gorgeous romance ARC. I'm so excited for more!
I don’t hand out five stars often, but when I do, it’s because a book truly made me feel all the emotions—and that’s exactly what Hillary Leigh did with You Found Me.
This is the first book in the Meadow Springs series, and it was such a wonderful start. After calling off her engagement, Emmaline returns to her hometown to be close to family and friends. While back, she crosses paths with Spencer—the guy she shared an unforgettable night with at a college Halloween party. Sparks fly, and soon a fake-dating arrangement sets the stage for something much more.
The author not only created amazing lead characters but also gave us side characters that feel just as alive. I found myself constantly curious about Collette and Theo’s story and eager to see what’s ahead for Mia and Beckett. I can already tell this series will be one I’ll want on my shelves.
A huge thank you to Luna Literary and Hillary Leigh for the ARC of You Found Me. I absolutely loved it and can’t wait for the rest of the series!
SPENCER HALE THE MAN THAT YOU ARE. Like he literally does the bare minimum for our girl Emmy, but more than most he goes above and beyond. I am ABSOLUTELY jealous right now. Another fictional male that has my standards going higher and higher. So glad he finally found his Buttercup 🥹🥰
And Emmaline Jones. The spitfire woman that she is. I am so glad to have seen her become comfortable in her skin again and not second guessing everything like she did in her past relationship. She finally found her light...and with that camera her Daredevil 🥹
I love this book so much! I hope to find a love like Emmy and Spence in the future. To have someone in my corner supporting me through everything and letting me just be me 🥹
I also cant wait for more books in the future!!! I can't already tell that Colette and Theo are getting one, Quinn and Grayson, Mia and Beckett, and Cori when she finds someone she cant stop thinking about 😭😭😭 IM SO EXCITED !!!!!!
This was a fun read! You Found Me has some of my favorite tropes: 🩵 Fake Dating 🩵 Girl Next Door x Cinnamon Roll MMC 🩵 Slow Burn 🩵 He Falls First 🩵 Found Family 🩵 Small Town Romance
I really enjoyed Emmaline and Spencer’s story—their chemistry was sweet and the spice was great! Spencer especially was such a cinnamon roll, and I loved watching him fall first.
That said, the book did feel a little overcrowded. There are a lot of side characters, subplots, and random connections happening all at once, and sometimes it distracted from the main romance. I found myself wishing the focus had stayed more on Emmaline and Spencer instead of juggling so many extras.
Still, if you love small-town romances with found family vibes and a packed cast of characters, this one might be right up your alley!
ARC Review You Found Me is the debut novel for Hillary Leigh, and it didn’t disappoint! We meet Spencer and Emmaline. They met in college, but never saw each other again until Spencer moves to her hometown. Sparks fly and you can feel their chemistry flow through the pages. The problem? Emmaline is engaged. Well engaged until she catches her fiance in bed with another woman. Now single, will Spencer make his move and let Emmaline know how he really feels?
The book had everything I could’ve hoped for. The group of friends in this book are so close, and really make the book what it is. This was such a great and quick read! I can’t wait to read the other books in this series.
Add You Found Me to your TBR now! As always, check for trigger warnings before reading!
This book was all kinds of fun! The girls friend group was hilarious and the guys were so funny as well! I’m so excited to get to know them all more in this series🤩🥰
Spenser is the ultimate book boyfriend! He’s so incredibly patient with Emmaline. I just adore how he treats her and always puts her first no matter how her feelings are coming out! He puts up with a lot of her issues from her ex and just keeps supporting her and being there! Emmaline just got out of an awful long term relationship and has to move home. Her Ex won’t stop bugging her and harassing her so she comes up with a plan to keep him away. Well little did she know that plan would end up with her in love with Spencer 💗🖤💗 What a great debut novel! So so good I’m excited for this series!
Tropes: ❤️fake dating 🏡small town romance 😻girl next door x cinnamon roll MMC 🌶️slow burn spice well worth the wait 🫶🏼he falls first
5 out of 5 stars for this sweet and cozy small town romance with all the giggles, cute nicknames and slow-burn aching spice debut novel!
Spencer was a sweet angel muffin and Emmy, Ugh! I was ready to ride at dawn in her honor but we already know our cinnamon roll MMC has got that covered.
One of my favorite things throughout the book was the little acts of service and how they each showed love in different ways. Those acts made a huge impact and really showcased how well they really meshed into one another's lives.
I cannot wait to see where the rest of the series takes us!
Okay... I'm adding Spencer to my 'hope to get a boyfriend like...' list!
In this emotionally grounded romance, Emmaline is still picking up the pieces after her fiancé’s betrayal. Enter Spencer: thoughtful, steady, and the perfect shoulder when she suggests a fake-dating arrangement to keep nosy family at bay. Soon, their staged relationship blooms into something comforting, real…and surprising.
You Found Me is the kind of romance that feels like a soft hug: comforting, quietly sweet, and earnest. It doesn’t rush; it heals. Perfect for those moments when you need a gentle escape with realistic emotions and relatable vulnerability.
-- Thank you, Luna Literary for this fantastic ARC. What a way to get to know authors! This review was written with honesty.
A solid debut novel! A small town romance with fake dating, spice, great side characters and all the feels. I do feel like maybe TOO many side characters were written into this one, but its nothing that cant be smoothed out in the rest of the series. I did like that there is conflict with the FMC's ex and not drama from another woman. I hate reading OW drama. Spencer was a solid green flag MMC. He was kind, thoughtful, total golden retreiver. Emmy was so lost and such a shell of the woman she once was, but it was so good to read her character arc and see her find herself again. The spice was great and this is definitely a slow burn with a good payoff! Thank you Luna for the early copy to read and review!
This is my first book that I have by Hillary Leigh and I really enjoyed this book so much.
I really enjoyed reading Emmaline and Spencer story so much I didn’t want it to end.
Emmaline is a nurse and she is engaged to a not so nice guy named Chance who is a football player and when he cheats on her she ends up leaving and going back to Meadow Brook Springs but Chance doesn’t get the hint that they are over so this is where Spencer comes in he pretends to be her fake boyfriend just to get Chance off her back.
Spencer is a really nice guy and lives next door to Emmaline when she moves back to town. They do the whole fake dating thing and it ends up being not so fake as they both really like each other and Spencer does things to Emmaline body that Chance could never do.
I was pleasantly surprised by this book from this first time author. As an avid read who tends to stick with the authors I know well, I tried this out and am happy I did. Emmaline starts out in a rough relationship after accepting negatively for too long. We are taken through her emotional thoughts and feelings as she gets back to her roots and learns to trust again. She learns to stand on her own. Then she meets Spencer. He is patient, kind and loving. We see the sweet part of him until he is in the bedroom with Emmy and things really heat up fast. Something I wasn’t expecting. This is a quick read because you stayed glued to it. I finished it in two days. I highly recommend this book.
I did really enjoy the book and all the characters involved, it was really well written and a nice small town romance. It did loss a star as I felt it just kind of dragged on with no extra stuff happening. Don’t get me wrong hate when a book just cuts off but this one just kept going and was lovely to see there relationship developing but felt it need something like extra drama from the ex. Thought it would escalate more than the shouting and slap. Spencer was just the man for her, gentle, kind but also sexy. She need someone to make her more confident and see her self in a nicer way. Her friends were great can see a friends to lovers with piper and Callum and a fun one between her crazy friend Mia and Beckett. 4/5 🌶️

I have been waiting for this book for SO LONG and I am so excited for other to get to read it so very soon as well.
Emmy is for the girls who were broken down and built back up again. Hopefully everyone gets a chance to get their own Spence because he is PERFECT.
If you want a book filled with ✨found family ✨fake dating ✨slow burn ✨small town romance ✨he falls first ✨girl next door x cinnamon roll this book is for you!
Not to mention meeting characters that you will fall in love with and become instantly invested to know their stories. (Begging Hillary to give me Beckett asap).
So basically- you 100% need to read this amazing debut novel!
This is this author’s debut book and it is a pretty good start to this series. Spencer and Emmaline had a missed connection back in college but when he happens to see her again, she is engaged. When Emmaline moves back home after her engagement falls apart, she and Spencer reconnect and start fake dating when her ex becomes too much and Spencer gets tired of all the advances from women.
The way the friendship turned into a relationship was my favorite thing about this book. Emmaline had been through some stuff and I loved how she was able to find herself again after a broken heart. Spencer is the sweetest, with the way he supported her.
