Rate this book
Soul The Unexpected Gifts of Grief and Connection to Those in Spirit is a heartfelt and deeply personal memoir that invites readers on a journey through love, loss, healing, and transformation. At its core, this is a story about the human spirit—how it endures, evolves, and finds light even in the darkest moments.

When faced with an unexpected and devastating loss, Gina Kitzmiller embarks on a path of grief that challenges every part of her being. Through poignant storytelling and raw vulnerability, Soul Walk delves into the complexities of grief, the power of connection, and the ways in which we navigate the profound pain of saying goodbye while still holding on to love.
Along the way, the narrative weaves together moments of deep sorrow, surprising joy, and the quiet revelations that come with healing. Through dreams, signs, and a renewed sense of spiritual awareness, Gina discovers that the bonds we share with our loved ones are never truly broken.

Soul Walk is more than just a memoir; it is a testament to the resilience of the human heart. It offers readers a sense of hope and a reminder that even in the midst of loss, there is beauty to be found in the journey forward. This is a book for anyone who has loved, lost, and searched for meaning in the space between.

Book Review

Grief lays bare the fragile threads that bind us to the people we love, and in Soul Walk, Gina Kitzmiller invites readers into the sacred, shattered space of that unraveling. What begins as a story of youthful love and connection evolves into a brave and unflinching account of her husband’s battle with illness, his passing, and the quiet, unsteady march toward healing that follows.

Kitzmiller’s prose is lyrical yet grounded, weaving moments of heartbreak with spiritual reflection in a way that feels both deeply personal and universally relatable. Her voice does not hide from the darkness—instead, it walks straight into it. She captures the disorientation of grief with raw the numbness, the longing, the silence left behind. And yet, Soul Walk is not a story of despair, but of persistence.

What sets this memoir apart is Kitzmiller’s spiritual lens. Through signs, synchronicities, and dream-like connections, she explores how love continues beyond the physical. Her reflections offer comfort for those who believe in something greater—and even for those who aren’t sure what they believe anymore.

More than a memoir of mourning, Soul Walk is a story of survival and rediscovery. It honors the truth that loss doesn’t end love—it changes it, shapes it, and ultimately strengthens the one left behind. This book is a gentle companion for anyone navigating grief, a reminder that even in absence, there is presence—and even in sorrow, there is soul.

Reading Soul Walk felt like being gently guided through grief by someone who truly understands it. I cried more than once, not because the book is sad alone, but because it feels honest. Gina Kitzmiller captures what it’s like to lose someone you love and still feel them in everyday life. I finished it feeling a little lighter, like I wasn’t carrying my own losses alone anymore.

Raw, real, and deeply moving. This book doesn’t hide from grief—it walks straight through it and somehow leaves you with hope on the other side.

Priya, 52
This memoir spoke to the part of me that believes love doesn’t end with death. The signs, dreams, and quiet moments described in Soul Walk felt familiar and comforting. Whether you see these experiences as spiritual or symbolic, the message is powerful: connection continues, even after loss. It made me reflect on my own journey with grief in a new way.

I found parts of this book really moving, especially the early sections about loss and adjustment. At times the spiritual elements weren’t personally my thing, but I can see how meaningful they would be for others. Even when it wasn’t fully my perspective, I still appreciated the sincerity and emotional truth behind it.

I don’t even know how to sum this up properly. Soul Walk is one of those books that sits with you after you finish it. It’s about love, loss, and somehow still finding light in everything that breaks you. If you’ve ever lost someone, this will hit deep.

Thomas, 60
This is not just a memoir of grief, but a quiet map through it. Each page feels like a step—sometimes heavy, sometimes tender—toward something like peace. Kitzmiller writes with a softness that does not avoid pain but transforms it. Soul Walk is, in every sense, a conversation between absence and enduring love.

To Sum It Up:
‘A deeply moving memoir of love, loss, and healing that reveals how grief can open the heart to unexpected connection, enduring bonds, and hope beyond loss. A FINALIST and highly recommended!’ The Wishing Shelf Book Awards
