FIRST IMPRESSION VIDEO HERE: https://youtu.be/Vr6n0HQNxoE

This is easily one of my favorite things I've read all month and has easily lived up to all my expectations and MORE!

I'm not even sure where to start because there were so many elements that I found deeply refreshing!

Maybe since this is sort of thrown in with villainess manga, I would say I LOVED that Francesca did not follow the whole reincarnated storyline of trying to keep the plot the same (minus the "red flag" ending for herself), but instead purposely changed it so she could hopefully make friends outside of the potential love interests. Yes, FRIENDS! Not so she wouldn't meet her doom at the very end at the hand of the villain, but instead so she could have a normal and peaceful life!

I admired her for that as well as how cool she was! And when I say cool, I mean in that, yes, she is such a cool and awesome heroine, but also cool in that she is not panicking when she's kidnapped! She literally does her best in every situation of staying calm when her life could be on the line, and was incredibly blown away by that!

However, her fiancé *wiggles eyebrows* is indeed her weakness because I love how angry and flustered she gets around him! LOL! He's a very interesting character, and I loved how dangerous he was, but also wanted to equally hide away because of how scary he was! LOL! He's a great male lead and deeply enjoyed his antics, especially in that bonus short story!

One other thing that vividly stood out to me that I deeply appreciated about this story is that it's an enemy-to-lovers series I can get behind! I feel I have a really rough time with this trope, because from my experience, most stories seem to be built on physical attraction, yet they are being extremely intimate despite hating each other's guts. I like a good enemy-to-lovers, but that's not something that I'm drawn to reading, so I loved how our leads are attracted to each other, but not necessarily because of their looks. Leonardo definitely does think Francesca IS cute, but I feel he is mainly intrigued by the way she acts and the things she says. Francesca, right now, is just trying to avoid him (and failing horribly, I might add LOL), so I can't say anything there, but I think she is falling for him based on that ending!

Overall, I loved everything about this! The mafia aspect was fantastic, all the characters are so cool, and I enjoyed finding myself on the edge of my seat with the next moment laughing! Truly, it was a wonderful reading experience and I will for sure be getting volume two!

Highly recommend!

Reincarnated into dating sim games are just so fun (for the first few chapters at least).

This one is mafia focused, in a world with five powerhouse families, and people have “skills” aka magical powers.

Art is nice, amount of text on panel is appropriate, pacing is fine, and I’m down to continue reading more!

Recap: FMC dies, reincarnates, avoids early game conflict but that means she’s now in new game territory.

Good enough to want to read the next volumes.

It’s kind of sad, the MC h just wants to make friends. She’s not trying to romance the love interests, she just wants to live a normal life and her family and fiancée are, unintentionally, preventing that.

It’s also sad because her family in her past and second life really do love her and I can’t imagine the heartbreak her family in her first life experienced when she died so violently in front of them.

I’m…on the fence about her fiancée. The things he says makes it seem like this is the “he fell first trope” is going to happen. Even if he is saying all of those things in jest, eventually if you say something often enough, it becomes true.

However, he’s also the don of a mafia family and he also threatens her, soooo…not exactly romantic.

4, I bought the next one and pre-ordered the third volume, stars.

I love this manga! The art is so good, the characters are fun, and the plot—while the same old, same old—is still really enjoyable. This is a reread but I've forgotten most of it so v excited to catch up on new chapters

In Summary
It’s a Mafia-themed dating sim isekai whose protagonist, Francesca, has one goal: leave the world of organized crime for a normal life. But even though her goal is simple, her circumstances and setting are complicated. Like, really complicated. By the time the narrative is done explaining her past and present life, the political situation, the magic system, and the trajectory of the game, a third of the volume is over. And when the villainous male lead does enter the story, he’s more confusing than compelling. Dating sim-type stories are generally a fun romp with a herd of eye candy, but so far, only two potential love interests have appeared, and digesting all the details is taking work.

The Review
17-year-old Francesca Calvino is not merely the daughter of the don of one of the kingdom’s most powerful criminal families. She’s the reincarnation of a yakuza boss’ granddaughter. And having been reborn as “Francesca,” the main character of a popular Mafia dating sim, she’s determined to use her knowledge of the game to get the normie life she never experienced in her previous existence. Unfortunately, her attempts to escape the world of organized crime hit a snag when the game’s chief villain, Leonardo Aldini, sets his romantic (?) sights on her.

The setup for the story is similar to many game reincarnation isekai. The protagonist gets reborn as a character with an undesirable fate and has to use her knowledge of the game to avoid said fate. However, Francesca’s not so much out to escape a “Bad End” as she is to escape the role she was born into. While many stories in this genre gloss over the protagonist’s previous life, Reincarnated in a Mafia Dating Sim devotes 15 pages of the opening chapter to the protagonist’s friend-starved existence in a yakuza household. In doing so, the narrative establishes two things. First, her organized crime smarts, which the overly sheltered “Francesca” of the video game did not possess. Second, her desire to escape the mob life, which motivates all her actions in the story.

Also introduced in this initial chapter are, of course, the premise and particulars of the game, which are kind of complicated. People use guns over swords, and those with noble bloodlines can use magic. The setting is a European-style kingdom where the monarchy is supported by five noble houses that also control the Underworld. Logically speaking, I don’t get how criminal families would cooperate in a monarchy system this way (unless the whole system is rotten), but in our protagonist’s previous life, her grandfather was supposedly an “honorable mob boss.” So the entire work romanticizes organized crime quite a bit. And because it is a dating sim, the protagonist’s love interests all come from the aforementioned noble mobster houses, and their interactions take place in an academy setting.

Because of all the backstory and explanations, our male lead, Leonardo Aldini, doesn’t make his dramatic entrance until page 60. And once he hits the scene, there are more explanations about him. He is the head of the Aldini family. He assumed leadership at age 10 when his father and older brother were killed. He has a reputation for genius, charisma, and ruthlessness. And due to an old promise between their grandfathers, Leonardo and Francesca are engaged. However, the game storyline pits him as Francesca’s enemy, so their first interaction is his kidnapping her the day before school starts for nefarious purposes.

But because Francesca doesn’t act as he predicts, he falls for her… I think. Despite the ton of information provided about him, it’s hard to tell what he’s really after. I believe it’s an attempt by the creator to make him mysterious, but he just comes off as baffling. Francesca’s attitude toward him is also baffling. She describes him as the kingdom’s greatest threat but goes way out of her way to lend a hand when he gets into a dangerous situation. On top of that, chemistry is lacking between the two. The romantic scenes feel more prescribed than heart-pounding, which is somewhat problematic for this genre.

By the way, Francesca is the only named female character so far, which isn’t too surprising for the genre. However, only three male characters have been introduced, and one of them is Francesca’s doting father. Because this world is based off a dating sim, I’m guessing more guys will eventually join the cast, and hopefully they’ll be less confusing than Leonardo.

Artwork is about average. Panels are packed into the pages, and the very tiny footnotes are barely visible in the panel gutters. Despite the crowded layout, action scenes are not difficult to follow. Extras include first four pages printed in color, afterwords from the creators, bonus story (in text), and bonus manga.

By the same author as 7th Time Loop , and honestly, it feels very similar so far. I had to keep checking the names to confirm the manga artists are different, because the art aligns a lot as well.

Still, it's fun so far, and I'm already wishing Tokyopop would go ahead and license the light novels. Manga takes a lot more volumes to get through the story, and has a habit of slowing down or fizzling out before reaching the end, and it would be pretty annoying to only get a partial story...

Anyway, unlike Time Loop, this is more of a traditional isekai - specifically, reincarnating into a mobile game world. I'm not sure if there's a genre label for that, although it's so common now there should be. So all of the usual tropes are here, with the main character knowing all the plotlines she has to either follow or defy to reach the ending she wants.

Like in Time Loop, the heroine's primary goal is to (a) live a relaxing life - in this case with lots of friends (b) save the world from the brutal actions of the Main Villain, an incredibly handsome and charismatic man who starts out as her fiance.

Since this is a reincarnation story, it begins on kind of a depressing note. "Francesca" was originally the granddaughter of an "honorable" yakuza family; she loved her grandfather and all the scary-looking guys who adored and protected her, but none of the girls at school would speak to her because they were afraid of her family. She started playing a popular dating game in hopes that she could strike up conversations over it, but that didn't work either, and she ended up being shot in the chest by someone who was trying to take out her grandfather.

So she died, leaving her whole family behind, and reincarnated into the world of the game she'd only gotten partway through playing. This is one of my issues with isekai, I guess...the backstory in this one was fleshed out a little more than usual, so now I just feel really bad for the family and the life she'd lost. Especially since her grandfather must really blame himself for what happened.

But now she's the daughter of another mafia family...and determined to not follow the same friendless fate in this lifetime.

Parts of this don't make a ton of sense to me. For example, when she enters school at age 17, she hides her name and claims to be the daughter of a count from a neighboring country. She's afraid that she'll be ostracized at school again if they know who she really is. But "yakuza" and "mafia" are simply not the same. In the setting she's in now, there are five "mafia" families that are the branches of nobility that support the royal family. And the school she's attending is the royal academy.

So...she's upper tier nobility. Not a crime family? Her family literally works for and supports the royal family. Why would anyone be afraid of her? They'd all want to get into her good graces...

I mean, all the girls at school are fawning over her fiance, Leonardo, who's the 17 year old head of one of the five families. They're a little bit scared of him because he's kind of intimidating, but one of the girls is literally telling him that her family wants her to marry him for the status, so...a lot of the worldbuilding doesn't really work so far.

Francesca is fun, though; like Time Loop's Rishe, she's smart and brave and independent and able to stand up to her scary fiance in a way that intrigues him. It's likely he has some sort of tragic backstory that will be unveiled as the plot goes on; I highly doubt he was responsible (at ten years old) for the murder of his father and older brother, but I'm not sure how him rising to the head of the family would've benefited anyone else.

Honestly, the most intriguing character to me right now is Francesca's childhood friend, Graziano, an orphan (of noble blood, via a prostitute and a marchese) who's taken in by her family and raised to essentially be her bodyguard. If he wasn't firmly slotted in as "her little brother" and someone who wasn't playable as any sort of love interest, I would probably be swayed in his direction. He just has by bar the most depth of any of the characters so far.

I'm sure I'll grow to like Leonardo, though. I doubt he'll be as evil in reality as he's set up to be in the game - I dropped another popular yakuza series because I absolutely hated the male love interest, but Touko Amekawa doesn't seem the type of writer to take things in that direction.

Ever since reading Touko Amekawa’s novel 7th Time Loop, I’ve been desperate to get my hands on more of her stories, because I absolutely adore 7th Time Loop’s story and characters! So when I found out that Reincarnated in a Mafia Dating Sim was getting an English Physical release for the manga, I was ecstatic, and after having read it I can proudly say that I am hopelessly hooked into yet another wonderful masterpiece written by the brilliant Amekawa-Sensei.
The story is similar to many other’s with the typical reincarnation into a video game that the main heroine of the story is very familiar with because of course they played the video game in their previous life and they know everything that’s going to happen - and of course they plan on changing it. Which is where the lovely Francesca comes in. She is the only daughter to a very handsome crime lord (which by the way, why is her dad such a hunk??), in a world that’s ran by 5 different crime families all under one monarchy. Of course Francesca is very similar to Rishe from 7th Time Loop, in that she just wants to live a normal peaceful life and to make friends who aren’t afraid of her and her crime lord family. Unfortunately, I don’t think that’s going to be easy for her to do, especially since she’s engaged to the ruthless villain, Leonardo.
Leonardo is an interesting character, who for right now is unpredictable and unreadable. For the moment though, after having read through this first volume, my first impressions of him aren’t very good. His very aura screams villain and he’s not very nice to our Francesca, even threatening her at times, but I don’t know if that was his way of just trying to scare her or if he was actually sincere with his threats… I need to read more about him before passing judgement, but I am curious to learn more about him and to see his and Francesca’s relationship evolve with the story.
I did however really enjoy Francesca’s character. She has a deep kindness for others, especially for the poor and downtrodden, and I loved reading about her relationship with her protector and friend Graziano. She sees the people of this world not as characters in a video game, but as actual people, which I find to be so refreshing in a reincarnated story. Also, the way she still remembers and cares for her family in her previous life is also very touching to see.
I found myself laughing out loud at times while reading this book and overall I enjoyed the read and am strongly anticipating the release of the next volume!

This is the exact type of cringe edgy otome romance that I've been looking for; honestly, a favorite genre of mine- and this one starts off pretty good. A yakuza heiress who wants nothing more than to just be a normal girl is killed and reincarnated into the heroine of a mafia otome game that she had played in her previous life. It gives trashy romance which is what I'm here for >:) but the main(?) love interest Leonardo I genuinely don't like (and maybe there's trauma there and maybe we'll learn to like him, but I just find him insufferable). The brother is nice tho- I just hope it doesn't turnout to be one of those weird incesty relationships and just stays a pure cute sibling relationship. I don't have much to say on the heroine yet- she's kinda a mary sue but she's nice- I hope we see more personality as the manga progresses :) I'm excited to see what the other male leads are like ^^

Volume 1: (Chapters 1-4)

aka: The Beloved Daughter of a Crime Family Was Reincarnated as the Daughter of a Gangster in an Otome Game: Highest-Ranking Villain, That Doting Is Unnecessary!

After her sudden death at the hands of an assassin, the former granddaughter of a Yakuza boss reincarnates in a otome game as the heroine.

The game is, of course, set in the time of early European mafia (but with magic and other special abilities somehow), specifically a kingdom where the royal family is supported behind the scenes by five major gangster!

Please God, whyyy, I only wanted to life a normal life!

At first, I wasn’t the biggest fan of the art in this series, however it did quickly grow on me! I really am a fan of yakuza romance stories, and so of course I would enjoy a mafia romance!

While I wasn’t exactly sure how I felt about the relationship between the two leads, I did slowly grow to enjoy it more and more as I read on. There is a good amount of world building that takes place throughout the entire volume, so we get quite a bit of relevant lore! The more we learn about the story, the more enjoyable the character relationships became, and I found myself wanting to learn more and more.

I liked this manga and I’m looking forward to the next one. The end scene between the two leads was quite the cliffhanger. I can’t wait to see the relationship between the two main characters progress and to meet the other family’s children/heirs.

The only reason I couldn’t give this full stars was because of the predictability of current chapter. Hopefully as the story progresses we get more ingenuity.

PS. I just realized that this manga is from the same light novel I’ve been reading. Maybe that’s why as of now I feel like there is predictability with how the story is moving. Maybe it’s because the main character here reminds me of Rishe, the main character from the author’s other novel/manga.

This was such a fun spin on things. Yakuza! Otome-esque game! A fiancee who is the villain... but is he really or is there something going on there? A sad backstory on how the MC got isekai-ed. Skills (and I am curious what our MC's skill actually is). Kick-ass battles (because yakuza and our MC (and her fiancee) is often targeted). And I am just rooting for our MC to find friends in this life, friends she can talk with.
I also loved the bonus extras. The dad who is more than willing to help his daughter make friends (and since he is a boss you can imagine what his plan is) and the guy who protects our MC.
Pretty art as well, the MC's fiancee *fans herself*.

Doch davon will die Heldin nichts wissen.

I dive in without any expectation I just like the art style and decide to read it, it's interesting and I like it so far. I want to know where the story going especially after knowing it's from the same author of 7th time loop. I'm curious to see the development of the ml in the next volume, he's still so mysterious and you can't let your guard down around him not even a little bit. Meanwhile the childhood friend is so capable and kind, I also love her relationship with her grandpa and grandpa's people in her previous life, it was heartwarming.

There were parts I enjoyed and was interested in with this series, so I might give the second volume a try if/when my library gets it. I did like the art, but deep down I'm not really sold on the story which is probably more because this is not my usual kind of read.
If this series had been about MC's life before she got reincarnated only... I would have been more hooked. It seemed like that part would have been a "cozy" yet interesting storyline in itself.

I'm not usually a fan of gangsters and similar media but I thought I'd give it a try since I seem to like otame themes and isekai. I was pleasantly surprised by what a cute story it's turning out to be. Has a very similar origin story for the heroin as the anime Yakuza fiance. I wonder if it's going to continue to have similarities with it. I don't think I'd mind personally since I'm waiting for the second season of that one to come out lol.

I found the intro to this isekai awfully hard to follow. I had to lean on the knowledge that it's an isekai to get me through it. Even then, it felt like a clumsy way of doing it. While she's rather typical (purposely being contrary to the known storyline), the MMC is rather intriguing. He actually seems like a proper bad guy, which is rare. I mean, he has to be hiding something that makes him likeable... Right? If I were to continue on, it would simply be for him.

this was a really solid start to the series - intriguing ML, strong and interesting FL, and a great cast of side characters so far. I loved the hint at her special power near the end. can't really get a totally solid read on the ML yet. the art is GORGEOUS, especially those full color panels at the start!! definitely in for vol 2!!

I really impressed my son's friends by reading this :)

It was OK - I'm finding romance manga to be rarely good, but some are really good so I keep reading them. Unfortunately though I think only 2 of the books have been translated into English yet and there are only 4 in the series so I may check back later.

3.5 stars. Heroine is interesting, and we get more background and motivation for her which grounds the narrative. There seems to be a bigger mystery at play with lots of mysteries abounding. Fast read.
