This book was wonky as far as timelines. She knows then she’s planning revenge on her second anniversary then she’s at a ball and she doesn’t know until she follows her husband and over hears. Then she’s still planning and it’s her 3rd anniversary vow renewal party. Then she doesn’t know she knows. Then she’s still planning revenge. Then she doesn’t know. The progression is confusing af!

2.5 ⭐️ A quick read! Cassie finds out her husband has been sleeping with her sister their whole marriage and sets out to expose them.

It definitely could use editing. Character’s names are literally different on the same page, and sometimes the timeline was way off? Like in one minute she’s basically calling out her sister and then they don’t know she knows anything? Her sister mentions not seeing someone for a few days, but then also the divorce was final which would’ve taken months?

Besides that, I did like how Cassie took her revenge. I think that part could’ve happened sooner, but I like that she took her power back.

I also like that she didn’t jump right into another relationship but healed herself too.

To be betrayed by your own sibling is soul killing. Why people who desire affairs simply do not divorce their spouse has always been a puzzle to me. You 'love someone and do not wish to hurt them' and proceed to do just that in the most brutal way possible. The sister had no redeeming qualities and even thought she was entitled and justified her behavior as her sister's life should have been hers, zero moral compass with below zero personal charactics.

The H was a weak, confused loser who never grew up regardless of his age or income.

Story needed editing and some tightening up.

Clearly AI

It seemed like there were alot of weird missteps in the story. She called her sister the mistress to her face and the sister admitted it, then the next chapter the mistress and husband speak about how the wife doesn't know. To me this looks like AI writing. This shouldn't exist without an asterisk stating it being AI written.

DNF This was complete garbage. Clearly AI written which, ok if you’re going to use AI, at least read what was written before publishing it. The h “discovered” the cheating about 6 different times. They all said breezy, cryptic things but never really said anything. Complete waste of time and I feel dirty for giving the author even a penny for my partial KU read.

Bad plot, bad writing

The plot is all over the place, first she knows, then she doesn't, they suspect she knows, then they know she knows, then they suspect again... Nonsense, that and the lack of a coherent line of feelings from everyone. Bad book.

Like many other reviewers already stated, I don't know why this went into print. The sad part is that it has the right elements to be a real good story if author had not screwed it up. And that my friends makes no sense to me.

Why bother writing something and not check your work? I don't know if AI wrote this thing as many folks stated but it feels like each chapter either was written by someone else or author kept writing chapters & plots randomly as if she wanted to go one way with the story, only to change her mind and go another and then flip-flop over and over again until it lost any semblance of sense and plot.

For instance, from the first chapter, FMC learns her hubby is cheating on her with her own sister and has done so from the night before they got married to their entire 2 years of marriage. So she plots her revenge where she will out them for the world to see what skanks they both are at their 2 year vow renewal ceremony in a few weeks or months. But in another chapter she is not sure of their cheating (even though she heard them making out & seen the video where they were having sex) and needs proof.

She then plot & plots with her besties to get all the evidence she needs for this party and in the mean time she plays a cat & mouse waiting game with her hubby because her revenge will be at this party and not before. But first it is supposed to be a 2 year anniversary but then changes to 3 years, only for it to flip-flop back to 2 and so on.

Then we have FMC saying how she gave him all of her heart - every piece of it - but the next minute she states how she was unsure about their relationship before she agreed to marry him and so on.

Anyway, before this grand revenge reveal can happen, FMC & hubby attend a family dinner where she rips into her sister at the dinner table that she knows she is her hubby's mistress. So revenge plot foiled, right? Nope. We get no reaction from hubby or family. It's like conversation never happened and next page everything proceeds as if she didn't let the cat out of the bag and hubby & OW are still clueless that she knows. 🙄

Chapter after chapter later has hubby & OW still carrying on with the affair thinking FMC is still clueless yet after the revelation at that dinner she also had a spitting contest with OW/sister where she reveals to her that she knows about their affair. She knows they have been f*****g since the night before she got married and for the entire 2 year of marriage. She lets OW know that she will get her revenge. So cat out of the bag now? Nope. Yet again, we are left like conversation never happened because hubby is still clueless and OW acts like they never had this spitting match.

So while FMC is doing the waiting game & hubby is feeling guilty (though not enough to stop sexing up SIL), the vow renewal plans proceed even though they are no longer living together or even talking. No POV, curiosity or discussion from hubby why his wife is no longer sleeping at home or pulling away. Why would he assume things are okay and the vow renewal should proceed if his wife is no longer home? Again, plot holes galore because characters are too dumb and not properly developed at all to understand anything.

Then we have an OM come into the picture who is now the new MMC and even though FMC is still technically married, she too now cheats with OM both emotionally & physically even though it's just a kiss. And here again, no development as to why OM is "all in" with FMC when after one or two brief conversations and they are in love. 😒

Then the big reveal happens where she finally outs the cheaters out and suddenly she has become a star & celebrity of women's rights and all that crap. First MMC (aka hubby) is now regretful as he realizes he loves his wife and that he is a terrible human being. He seeks therapy and helping the less fortunate because his reputation is on the skids and the loss of the wife he never treasured left him with a hole in his heart. The sister of course is still loathsome up to the end and doesn't really get any comeuppance, the families don't give a shit and she & OM now get together and have HEA with children. The End.

So you can see here why the whole revenge plot sucked. Author should have not had FMC reveal that she knew about the cheating before the main event. She should have continued to play them and mess with the cheaters heads. She should have stuck to one plot and not all that flip-flopping mess.
She needed to develop the characters and all the relationships. For example, for most of the story, she slept in the same bed with the hubby even though she knew about his cheating and we never see them have sex. But once she got together with OM, we have a sex scene and marathon sex with him. So it leaves readers to think - did she & hubby not have a sexual relationship? Was he only getting some from OW and none from wife?

As for the reason for his cheating, that too became very lame & pathetic as his excuse didn't jive either. We are never shown any real love & affection between them to make reader feel for FMC's hurt. For example, what was their relationship like before she found out about the cheating? Why did she love him? Why did he start up the relationship with sister when he told FMC in a flash-back that he felt nothing for the sister? What "comfort" did OW give him and why did he need comfort from her in the first place and not from his wife who he said loved, supported & championed him? What did OW give him other than sex? Why did sister hate her so much? Why didn't Hubby's Dad who seemed to be on FMC's side stand up and smack his son upside the head for ruining his marriage? Why did the MIL from hell prefer the sister for her son over the FMC?

So many questions and so many plot holes and so much of a mess. The writing is awful and I wish people who publish something can be held accountable and feel the shame. I know if I were to put something like this out for the world to read, I would be beyond embarrassed. In any other profession, this would be an epic fail and dismissal of shoddy work but I guess in the literary world, standards & decency don't count for anything.

One star only because I want it counted. Zero for everything else and wasting my time.

Different

A different type of betrayal story with a different ending

The author took a story of betrayal and gave the wronged MFC healing, strength and a new beginning. I wouldn’t call it an HEA but contentment. The MMC was not given even peace and that is where the story failed. They both deserved to heal and get a second chance

Vows of Deceit, part of the Billionaire Lies & Vows series, was about Cassiopeia "Cassie" King (Sterling), heiress to the Kings Grand Hotel chain, her husband, Damien Sterling, heir and CEO to Sterling Ventures, and Grayson Collin, a very rich and powerful entrepreneur.

Things had been strained between Cassie and Damien for some time, but when she overheard him talking to her sister, Kelly, on the phone during their 2nd anniversary celebration (something he had forgotten and had not given her a gift for), she didn't break. When she found the evidence that the affair had started the night before her wedding, she was done, and she started planning the end of their marriage, and the downfall of her husband and her sister.

Before their second anniversary, Damien had suggested that they renew their vows. At first, she demurred, but after learning about his affair with her sister, she decided to make that her target to expose them for what they were. Soon, everything for Damien began to fall apart, including losing the confidence of Leo, his best friend, because Leo knew about the affair and told Damien he needed to stop hurting his wife.

Unlike some of the other books I've read by this author, this story actually had a tremendous amount of angst, drama, and an emotional rollercoaster full of the usual twists and turns.

When sh*t hit the fan for Damien and Kelly, and both of their worlds imploded, Damien took responsibility for his share of wrongdoing, but Cassie's sister never did. She played the victim card right up to almost the end of the story. It was nice to see the wrongdoers get the comeuppance they deserved for a change.

While there were two MMCs, only one of them needed to show any growth, and that was Damien. Grayson was already well-developed and mature, and everything that Cassie needed. For her part, Cassie did some growing too. Damien managed to do some deep soul-searching, but in the end, well, he may have matured some and learned from his mistakes, but he still had to face his karma.

I gave this story a three-and-a-half-star rating, rounded down to three. It had a lot of things that needed tweaking, but it was decidedly better than other books by the same author.

Cassie, Damien and Grayson

It was a different take sndbi enjoyed it very much. Not so much a romance, we see Damien betray his wife Cassie, from the very beginning. It was sad because Cassie loved him and tried to make him happy but when she finds out she doesn't look away, doesn't scream and shout. She plots. And the end result? Epic.
Highly recommended

Wttpad quality writing (in the worst way)

Now I actually know there are a lot of really good Wttpad stories, which is why I know this isn't one. I honestly won't be surprised if a chunk of this book is written by AI. It doesn't help that the cover very obviously is AI generated.

✅ Jumping timelines
✅ Characters saying/doing one thing in a chapter and the next chapter is as if that never happened (this happens SO many times, esp before the affair reveal party)
✅ Wrong character names (including for Kelly, who is one of the major characters in the book)
✅ Same exact lines repeated over and over in a few chapters

Also, the prologue tells us about a revenge plan. We only finally see the plan executed at 63% (which means there is SO much build-up) and it happens for literally 2 pages. So it's not a crazy elaborate plan with multiple steps and a lot of layers. It's literally just playing a video of the affair in front of guests.

Another thing I find ridiculous and too childish is how exaggerated the MCs' importance is. The guy is some CEO, the girl is a hotel heiress. They're not celebrities or royalties, they're basically rich business people. And yet, their vow renewal is branded as "the most watched event in the world", their affair reveal is worldwide breaking news headline, AND for weeks following the fallout it's still being speculated on the news. (Remember the Coldplay jumbotron affair scandal? How long did that trend for? Like, a week?) And the FMC is immediately hailed as a modern global feminist icon. Even the FMC's new relationship is breaking news worthy. Unless if they're the richest two people in the world AND are also big public figures the way Zuck, Elon, Bezos etc are (which the rest of the story doesn't seem to indicate), it is just impossible that the literal whole world care that much about them. It truly is as if in this world everything revolves around these characters, which makes it feel like the writer is either a bit full of themselves or, more likely, simply too juvenile that they think their characters are that important 😅

There are so many other things like that (including footage somehow magically existing of inside a private office or penthouse bedroom where logically there should be no camera), where you kinda need to turn off your brain entirely to suspend your disbelief to enjoy the story.

The fmc prepares a big and secret revelation of the duplicity of her husband and sister in which the media is involved, and on the other hand, before this event, at a family dinner she tells her sister that she know she is her husband's mistress, in front of the whole family. In this point, where is the secret she plans to reveal? I can't understand why her family has no reaction when fmc makes the revelation of the affair at dinner and seems totally shocked when it is publicly revealed with evidence of their betrayal.
It was very difficult for me to follow the timeline in this story.
The fmc kisses a business partner at another event, before the big reveal, then we are told that two weeks after she filed for divorce, the two are involved in the inauguration of a hotel that involves long nights of discussions and planning, only to later be told that the kiss happened three days ago.
In chapter 33, at one point a character named Sienna appears, but I came to the conclusion that it is a mistake and that Sienna is actually Kelly, fmc's sister.
In conclusion, this story was not satisfying for me and I wonder how it has such a high rating, but in my country they say that tastes are not discussed.

Betrayal is my new favorite trope…

This story has several of my favorite tropes, including betrayal, cheating, and husband having the affair with his wife’s sister. This is such a huge betrayal that I’m always amazed by the level of arrogance and stupidity that has to occur for this to actually happen.

Damien was the husband, and Kelly is the sister. And she goes after him because he actually fell in love with Cassie and didn’t want Kelly. At least that was the initial idea. Then for some reason the author turned away from that and now I don’t know why he kept cheating other than he must have wanted to. Kelly is just an awful person who clearly was jealous, and she’s convinced herself that she’s who Damien always wanted.

This should have been a solid four star read, but the reasons that things happened kept changing. So it was never really clear why they did it. The really good thing was that Kelly got what she deserved, and Damien took a good look at himself and knew he had to change.

KU read, and as I said, this should have been four stars, but the writing got muddled.

LOVED CASSIE....

I loved Cassie, but the writing style was NOT FOR ME. It was weird and kind of disconnected. Felt like we were reading through notes and not a complete story. So, the storyline jumped around a lot and sometimes it was hard to figure out who was talking and what they were talking about. Not my cup of tea when it comes to writing styles.
I loved that Cassie was one of the few FMCs that chose herself instead of forgiveness. I'm tired of women forgiving people when they essentially treated them like trash. I'm tired of the scorned woman being the one expected to take the morally high ground. It's ok to walk away and realizing you are/were wrong doesn't always lead to a welcome back into the fold.
Damien was a trash person. I don't feel bad for him at all. He was a grown man who made his decisions with open eyes and he continued to make them decisions for two whole years. I don't care that he went to therapy and finally grew a backbone. I don't care if he realized he messed up royally. He KNEW what he was doing when he continued to do it. So I have ZERO remorse.

I loved this book....

We meet Cassie King, who has been married to Damien Sterling for two years, but he has been cheating on her the whole marriage with her sister, Kelly.

Cassie stays calm and remains the perfect wife even though she has learned the truth about her husband, her marriage, and her life. She doesn't shy away from the truth; she embraces it and lets it fuel her for her moment of truth... The vow renewal with her husband, their so-called power couple legacy, but what she is really planning is a speech of betrayal, choosing herself over the husband who had lied before he even said his vows.

Vows of Deceit was by far the most graceful book about betrayal, moving on, choosing yourself, and then finding love with the right person.

2.5

Editing errors are sprinkled throughout and at one point the sister's, Kelly, name was Siena but immediately went right back to Kelly.

Very surface level book that good for a quick filler read. If it was flushed out more, it has the potential to more. I also love when betrayers get their due and Damien and Kelly got what they deserved. Well, Damien got off easier in the grand scheme of things as men typically do, especially men in the upper echelons of society. I wouldn't have been sad to see him crash and burn harder but I will say that I liked that he sought out therapy. Another thing I liked was that the author didn't have the girls' parents prioritising and diminishing the deeds of the Kelly. We only get a blip into how they handled it and that blip was refreshing.

I love an awesome "Your man is banging your ho bag sister" drama/cheating story, but this story was so stale and boring. It was like trudging through quicksand. The only thing that breathed a little bit of life into this story was the evil sister. It's not good when I read a story and I can understand EXACTLY why the hubby would cheat on his boring ass wife. When the big revenge part actually happened to the cheating couple, I was very disappointed. The story was just meh.

what in the messed up timeline?

At this point I’m pretty certain this was either written by AI or a middle schooler. This timeline is so messed up, several things are out of order. The descriptions of clothing and such are weird and stilted. The vow renewal still happening after what happened at the dinner party made zero sense, and the oldest’s age description and the timeline for the wedding do not line up with the other details of the story. If this is written by a human, it’s in serious need of an editor. If this was written by AI, it still needs an editor but a better/not free version of AI might be helpful.

The book is short (less than 140 pages). In one sense it is formulaic - h discovers signs that her husband is having an affair with her sister, gathers proof/evidence, after two years her husband begins to feel guilty about deceiving his wife, the h plans to publicly reveal the affair at a vow renewal, the husband realizes he loves his wife too late. The chapters are short. Short sentences and phrases keep the story moving and the tension building. There are a few memorable quotes but not a lot of nuance.

what the heck?

Most of the book was Cassie planning to expose her husband and sister’s affair. She’s super composed blah blah blah. Harper couldn’t figure out whether she was team Cassie or “that’s too much don’t you think?” Damien magically realizes he loved Cassie even though he decided to start an affair with the sister the day before the wedding and kept it going until they were exposed. Icing on the cake were the name changes at the end of the book. Glad I got it with kindle unlimited.

I like to read random KU books but the AI cover should have been the first red flag. The actual writing is most likely AI too. The timeline doesn’t make sense. She’s preparing for this revenge yet the husband and mistress already know she knows? And she knows they know? Yet they still do like 5 more chapters of her preparing. And every dialogue had to feel overly dramatic and every chapter ending had to feel overly dramatic.
Personally I think you shouldn’t be allowed to publish anything AI but if you’re going to it should at the very least be stated in the description.

Inconsistencies Galore

Don't get me wrong. The scorched earth route is one I wholly support. Cassie uses her wits and her determination to rise from the ashes that are left after she reveals the truth to the world.

But.

There are glaring inconsistencies throughout the book. A mention of someone agreeing to help Cassie, only later in the book the conversation repeats and the dialogue and facts change? Happened a few times, actually. Along with the weird timeline at the end.

Still. I am here for the scorched earth games. Well done Cassie. 3 stars.

AI WRITTEN maybe?

I highly suspect this is AI written. The story jumps around/ changes key factors constantly. It's a short story, they change from they were sleeping together a week before the wedding, to only one day before the wedding, to the whole time, she just didn't want to commit. They're changing names, they're changing when the FMC reveals she knows. This is just poorly written with so many key plot changes that matter for a short story.

redemption

I like that Cassie got her happy ending and Kelly got what she deserved. But at the end I felt sad for Damian so I wish for a redemption story for him. He has learned from his mistakes and with therapy has found himself. So I would like for you, the author, to consider writing his story.

good

Story was very good. It would’ve got five stars because it seemed to get a bit jumbled towards the end as though the chapters have been muddled up and putting the wrong order things happened but then it was the next chapter before it had happened. Didn’t really make sense sort of The ending, but then it carried on until they ended again. It was okay.

The writing is choppy. Needs improvement! It's a series of short scenes narrated without any timelines. The main scene when she outs her husband and sister is anticlimactic. All of the chapters about planning, plotting and everything in all the chapters and the main scene of the revenge is described in just few lines.

True love

I saw the reviews and this was not written by AI.
It was cleverly mastered with grace.
The loss is unbearable and captured well. Sisters that are cruel is shown as the narcissistic perspective without calling it out.
I think it did not delve deep enough for the emotions bit it hinted at it with action and completion.
Worth reading.

Short, but confusing

I liked the plot. The book had potential. But the book seemed like the author rushed through to finish it. You get multiple POVs but in some chapters it gets confusing and you get more than one POV. With editing and maybe more context in the chapters this could he a really great book.
