I’m kind of sad that this series took such a plunge after the first book. I was hoping this one would be better than the second but it just got even more over the top and just plain strange at times. The only thing that kept me reading is that I really enjoyed how the legend of King Arthur was woven into the story.

I got as far as 25%, and it was a tough ride to push it there.

#1 had an interesting plot but the writing style was giving me major upset stomach.

#2 seemed to have improved writing (maybe it was just my imagination?) but the plot was going downhill.

I really hesitated on buying #3. I really should have listened to that hesitation.

HOW IN THE WORLD is this book so highly rated?! The writing is awful, the story line is weak at best. This is airport trash.

Problems with #3 (for as far as I read, anyway)

It was all too much for me. Life is too short for bad reads. I want my $4 back.

Fun series but there are some loose threads at the ending. Doesn’t feel complete.

I was provided this pre-release via NetGalley for review, here are my unspoiler-y thoughts.

You can also read this review (and more!) on my WordPress

So, here's the thing.. the story was interesting. It actually reminded me a lot of those other treasure-seeking movies and books that are super popular right now.. hence the title "The Lost Chalice".. hence the series title "Relic Seekers". Mind you, these types of movies and books really excite me, so I was definitely looking forward to trying this series out. I will admit that throughout this novel I could see it being adapted into a movie and being very popular among the general public.

Unfortunately, I struggled to fully pay attention to this novel. I'd find myself getting really interested then really bored, over and over... Many times I found that I was forcing myself to keep reading, and sometimes I had to force myself to walk away and do something else, then try again a bit later. Not really sure why, because to be honest it was pretty well written overall, but there were definitely some scenes that (at least to me) that seemed unnecessary and/or didn't really make sense. I hope that they're revised before publication, but if not, I'm sure others will approach it from a different perspective.

I think that if you've read the first two novels you'll be happy with this novel, I believe a lot of questions have been answered and it does seem as though the ending gives us an idea as to how the series will eventually end. To be honest, I'm not really sure if I'll read the next book (if there is one), but I'll definitely be keeping an eye out on other peoples reviews.

My three star rating is for my attitude after reading the book, it had good over all content but it just failed to captivate me as a reader.

5 STAR action packed romantic adventure

The third book in Anita Clenney’s Relic Seeker series is full of action packed intrigue and romance. There are lots of twists and turns to the plot but she does an amazing job of keeping the reader clear headed and not confused about what is happening.

The secondary characters of Raphael, Marco and the Reaper will keep the reader on their toes with some surprising revelations and a large presence in the storyline. Another secondary character is introduced, Gregor now I wonder if he is going to be a villain who joins forces with the Reaper or goes after the Reaper.

Kendall’s personality continues to expand creating a captivating character that will hold your attention throughout the book. I do love how strong she is and how she tries to rationalize her feelings for both Nathan and Jake. But I have to say both Nathan and Jake‘s characters have grown more defined in this book as well causing a dilemma for me as to which of the men she should choose.

In this book the mystery behind her long-lost childhood love Adam is solved and I am happy to say that is was who I was hoping it to be. Also the mystery to who is the child of the Reaper is solved. It was not who I thought. I do love a book that isn't easy to solve.

This book isn’t just about her relationships with these two men. It is an action packed adventure with a wow factor ending that I did not see coming but REALLY loved. This book answers the question of why Nathan's eyes change and he becomes super human. I look forward to the next book in this series.

A copy was gifted in exchange for an honest review via Netgalley.

I give it 5 STARS and recommend it for everyone.

This time around Kendall, Nathan, and Jake are searching for the 3rd powerful relic - the holy grail. They learned in the last book that the Reaper wants/needs the grail to use it with the Fountain to achieve immortality, and they must prevent that from happening. Kendall's visions start to lead her (and Jake) to believe that the three of them are King Arthur, Guinevere, and Lancelot reincarnated, but why is uncertain. Kendall uses her powers to try to track down the grail, but it is Nathan recovering some of his memories as Adam that finally lead the group to where it is hidden. Of course, the Reaper tries to get his hands on Kendall and the Grail, and Brandi is still around trying to destroy the relics too.

I started getting a little annoyed with this 3rd book. Kendall's character started to bug me a bit - her dialogue, her weakness vs. strength, her indecisiveness when it came to admitting to what she wants especially from Nathan and Jake. Perhaps that is what annoyed me most about this book - the love triangle. I'm not sure if it is because I've read a few reverse harem books lately, or what, but I was annoyed that for 3 books now Kendall has been agonizing over her feelings for both Jake and Nathan and thinks she has to choose between them. The boys admit that they love her, and she loves them, and the boys even respect one another. So why do they have to be in competition with each other??

I also feel like this book didn't satisfy me as much as it should have with regards to the non-romantic plotlines.

This 3rd book was published back in 2015, and I don't see anything on the 4th book, so I guess the story is done?? That's disappointing.

The Lost Chalice
3 Stars

In the aftermath of the discovery of the Fountain of Youth, Kendall Morgan, Jake Stone and Nathan Larrraby continue their quest for the Holy Grail to prevent the nefarious Reaper from gaining control of the relic and through it to eternal life and power.

Important note: This is the last published book in the series and ends with many threads unresolved. While the author has stated that she intends to write a fourth book in the series, she has not yet done so. As this book was published in 2015, I am not optimistic that it will ever be written.

After investing time and effort in this story and the characters, it is disappointing that there is no closure to the ongoing arc and the relationship between the three main characters.

In terms of this installment, the search for the third relic, the Holy Grail, is very interesting. Clenney's research is top notch and the inclusion of historical and legendary elements adds to the immersive atmosphere of the book. Moreover, the revelations regarding the pasts of the three main characters are also compelling.

Unfortunately, much of this is undermined by the unnecessary and infuriating love triangle. This trope, which was limited to the background in the previous books, is in full force here as Jake and Nathan vie for Kendall's affections. Kendall's indecision when it comes to her feelings for the two men is irritating in the extreme as it comes across as her leading them both on. She wants to have her cake and eat it too.

Overall, this series had such wonderful potential, but the lack of any resolution makes it all feel like a waste.

I LOVE this series. I generally finish a book a day, but I forced myself to go slow with this one. I simply didn't want to be finished with it. Now I have the long wait for the fourth book. Sigh.

I would definitely recommend reading the books in order. While they are all written as a stand alone, it simply doesn't make as much since without all of the books. Anita writes wonderful characters with great depth, and all of the books are needed to see the character progression. I loved to see the character development for Jake and Nathan and even Raphael and Marco. However, I would of liked to have seen more character development for Kendall. I loved her in the first two books and I still do, but she kind of fell flat for me in this one. I think the love triangle is becoming a bit much for me! There were parts of the story that bothered me... Hopefully, all of my questions are answered and the love triangle is solved in the next book.

Overall a great read. I am impatiently awaiting the next book!

Thanks to Montlake Romance for the eARC I received via Netgalley!

I normally write quite a bit in my reviews; however, this one is going to be on the shorter side.

I was beyond excited when I saw that The Lost Chalice was available "Read Now" on Netgalley - I really enjoyed the first two books, giving the first 4 stars and the second 4.5 stars. I had high hopes for this third book in the series based on the first two. Unfortunately, upon reading it, I was immensely let down.

My biggest problem with The Lost Chalice is that it should have been the last book in the series. To clarify, what I mean to say is that I thought it was going to be the last book in the series, and I was really annoyed when it was not.

Besides not being the series finale I expected, I also felt that The Lost Chalice was a bit anticlimactic. What I expected was a fast paced, action packed story about finding lost relics (as the first two books provided); what I got was a somewhat unexciting search. Occasionally there was something that pulled me in, but for the most part, I felt like the story was pulled a little too long for what actually happened. My main memory of this book is that there was a lot of walking around.

All in all, I will definitely still read the next book in this series - I am really invested in what happens with these people! I hope that the next book (possibly the actual finale?) goes back to being as action packed and enticing as the first two books for. It's just unfortunate that this book was a bit of a lull in the series.

This was my most anticipated read of the first 1/2 of 2015. I had been waiting for this book for-evah. Which, might shape the review.

I'm cutting it in 1/2. The first half of the book was a disappointing, slow 2-star read. If I wasn't really invested in Jake (yup, Jake's the character I'm all about and he definitely is, to me, still the most sympathetic) I might have put it down. I think it took as long to read the first 1/2 of the book as it took in real time. I did appreciate the couple pages of backstory since it has been so long.

The second half was far better. This is where the "fast paced" reference must be coming from. BUT, I needed far more inside Kendell's head about the guys. The fact that she wasn't really thinking it through at all felt...heartless. These guys are in love with you. At least think about more than how hot they both are.

I'm team Jake all the way. His decision at the end of the book I think is far deeper than being just about his feelings for Kendell. When it comes to honor, I think he's the character whose depths will surprise readers.

Also, this series is exactly why I hate reading series before they're finished. Over a year between books for a series with intricate details and plots? #frustrating.

Overall, 3 stars...but not a resounding YAY!

I WOULD ADD: #4 is an auto-buy for me. I'm taking this as a bit of a mid-series slump and excited to see where the book goes from here.

I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review

In order to review this book I read the previous 2 titles to get a better insight on the series, and I was not disappointed. From the get go the story is witty and snippy, romantic as well as heartbreaking and runs at such a speed that it will take you a while to get used to the pace but once you catch up it's a whirlwind of history, adventure, intrigue and love.

In "The Lost Chalice" the characters are beginning to accept their roles, their pasts and their futures so you will see many questions answered, many secrets revealed and plenty of conclusions. As usual there is a cliffhanger ending which will I assume lead to the final book in this series, though only the author can confirm that, but one thing is for sure, I am hooked and am really wishing that the next book was already out.

The Lost Chalice (The Relic Seekers Book 3)

The characters in the story had many surprises and some mystery’s solved in their continued quest in finding the lost chalice the monks were once guarding. Our hero’s and heroine continued their quest while fighting an evil character called The Reaper. This story has an Indiana Jones style and is enjoyable. These stories are PG. The love scenes do not get into details as other books on the market do.

This is the third book in The Relic Seekers series. I loved it!

Kendall Morgan is a wonderful character. However, I sometimes wanted to shake some sense into her right from the start. She works for a billionaire as a relic finder. She has a special gift that allows her to track down, as well as know things about, the artifacts she procures for her boss. When her boss, Nathan Larraby, asks her to locate four powerful relics, little does she realise the danger she will face or the secrets she will uncover. Nathan's reclusive nemesis known only by the name of Reaper (as in Grim) is also after the artifacts. But Kendall is also fighting her attraction to her co-worker, Jake Stone, and her handsome boss.

This is an urban fantasy romance with a twist. I started reading the story and was instantly hooked. The story is told through the view points of Kendall and Jake for the most part, but as it progressed, other characters, namely Nathan, also has his say.

I found myself on a roller coaster of emotion as the story unfolded. I enjoyed getting to know the characters better and we are introduced to quite a few new ones too.

The story continues from the end of book two and the reader gets to delve deeper into the Protettori and how and when it was established. This means that we also get to find out more about the Guardian, Raphael, and Marco, the keeper of the relics for the Protettori. We also get to know a little more about the Reaper and his relationship to not only the Protettori, but to one of the other characters. There are other surprises that are revealed too.

The story is just as exciting as the first two, and the author brings two myths together - that of the fountain of youth and the chalice once used by Jesus before he was crucified. However, I still found myself wondering about the trio's relationship and growth (or lack) of it into a threesome. There is definite chemistry between the three; Jake and Nathan don't find each other attractive so much, but they both have feelings for Kendall. I could see the potential for a threesome, but the author seems to have shied away from committing them to this type of relationship. Yet. I don't know if the author plans on continuing with this series, but I hope she does as it feels unfinished to me. The ending was left a little ambiguous, which made me feel disappointed as well as hopeful. If this series will not have at least another book written to conclude it, then I will be most aggrieved. I really want to go on another adventure with these three, and to see whether their relationship grows further.

Anita Clenney has written an intriguing paranormal romance full of action and adventure. I love her fast paced writing style and the flow is wonderful. I would definitely consider reading more books by this author in the future, and there is a high probability that I would add her to my favourite authors list too.

Due to scenes of a sexual nature (which are not explicit), as well as some violence, I do not recommend this book to young readers. However, I highly recommend this book if you love paranormal/supernatural romances/romantic suspense/urban fantasy/action/adventure or myths and/or legends genres. - Lynn Worton

This book is a fascinating story. I've always loved the legend and lore of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. The concept of the Prottetori is intriguing, much like the Knights Templar. Keeping secret powerful relics that would be dangerous in the wrong hands out of a sense of honour and duty and in Raphael's case, shame and guilt. It's such a good read. In this third book of the story many questions have been answered about our trio of main characters including identities. We learn Raphael's story and discover who Marco is but still not his motivations. The most interesting part for me is the small but hugely impactful interaction between Luke and Jake. I'm more excited than ever to finally find out what happened to Luke and why has done the things he's done to find the relics. Is he not the straight up evil bad guy or was he himself wronged, plunging him on this journey?

King Arthur lives?

Kendall and the gang are hunting again and the stakes are higher than ever. Nathan struggles to control his power and his jealousy over Jake. Kendall tries to make sense of her visions, could our three heroes be the Arthurian legend repeating itself. Jake and Nathan discover that everything they believed was a lie. Raphael, Marco, Fergus and Brandi aid and sometimes hinder their efforts and the secrets keep piling up. Is Nathan really Adam? Who is the Reaper's son? Could the Reaper be Kendall's father? Who is the Keeper of the relics? We get the answers and I did enjoy the book but felt the ending was rushed and I really wanted a proper conclusion to the story, which is why I only have it 4*. I listened to this book for free with Kindle Unlimited.

What a disappointment

So I started this knowing it was a 3 book series. In most series the books can stand alone. Not in this series. And now I find out that the series isn't over. The author didn't finish the story. I'm so irritated that I'm being left without an ending. The book is have been less interesting as The story goes on. I'm still reading them because I feel invested in the story. Don't waste your time or money.

I liked how the author intertwined the stories of King Arthur. I also liked the connection between Jake, Nathan and Kendall. I hoped she didn't have to choose either guy. You finally get answers to all their pasts and how they were connected to each other. The end was a bit of a shock and i don't know if there are going to be anymore books. I feel the ending left it open and because of that 3 stars.

Not sure if I liked the ending. It left things hanging with the appearance of another book coming, but I don't believe that there is one. Bummer. Oh, wait, I went to Anita Clenney's website and there does appear to be a fourth book coming out - The Hidden Scroll. Not sure about a release date but it says coming in 2017. Guess we will see.

I don't know what it is about this book but I needed to finish it because I really enjoyed the first 2 books. It was a very slow read and very repetitive. If it wasn't the last book of the trilogy I don't think I would have finished it.

Although I'm enjoying the books the three some theme is getting a bit boring and taking up a lot of the story in each book.
