She ran from a life she never chose and straight into the arms of a man who never expected her. He didn’t ask for a bride, but now that she’s here, he’s never letting her go.
I escaped in the middle of the night with nothing but a fake name, a one-way ticket, and a promise of tacos.
No, seriously—tacos.
I didn’t know who I could trust. I just knew I had to run. From the compound. From the leaders who watched me like I was next. From the life that had already taken too much.
So when a man named Logan said he’d keep me safe, I believed him.
Only… he didn’t send those messages.
He didn’t expect a bride to show up on his doorstep, half-starved and ready to collapse. And he definitely didn’t expect to feel anything when I did.
But I see it now—in the way he looks at me. In the way he holds me like I’m breakable and precious at the same time. He didn’t ask for a wife.
But that won’t stop him from keeping me.

Finley (Renee) ran from a cult when one of the men, Zachery, began thinking about adding her to his collection of wives who normally were selected at the age of 14. She chose to become a mail-order bride rather than have her life decided for her, and after an exhausting trip, she finally was staring at the long gravel driveway that would take her to the cabin of the man she would marry. He had even promised her a favorite meal of tacos, chips, and salsa! She was starving and exhausted, hadn’t slept in almost two days. But she felt safe here, certain the cult wouldn’t find her. She barely had strength to ring the doorbell or knock. No one responded at first, so she kept trying, feeling dizzy. When the door finally opened, the attractive man wore only a towel, his hair dripping wet. Her groom had paid her plane fare, arranged a rideshare, and promised her favorite foods. But instead of a greeting, he barked out “What”? She answered, “I’m here”, but he had no idea what she was talking about. Then he suddenly asked if she was a mail order bride sent by Bobbi. He offered to drive her down to the inn where Bobbi would take care of her. Then she passed out on the porch.
He wiped a cool cloth on her face after he put her on the couch. She was a beautiful angel. She told him her story, but was dismayed to find that Logan had never texted her. Again, he grumbled out Bobbi’s name. He fixed Finley a snack and went into town to get her the tacos she had expected from him. Finley is entranced by the handsome and kind Logan, the mountain man she thought she would be marrying. He makes her feel safe. And it seems he is starting to have feelings for her as well. Will Logan and Finley decide to spend their lives together forever? He never thought about finding a wife, but the idea seems perfect now. Or will the cult track her down and destroy their dreams?
Finley was born and raised in a cult. The rest of her family is content with the rules and living conditions at the cult, but she's always wanted more. This is even more true now that a leader seems to be taking an interest in her...as his wife.
Once when groceries were delivered, she was able to smuggle out a note asking for help to escape. That woman submitted the information to a secret email address. During her weekly trips to the library, she's been able to check for emails and has exchanged emails for several months with Logan. She agreed to be his mail-order bride. He paid for her airline ticket, arranged her rideshare, and agreed to house and feed her when she arrived. He even promised her tacos and chips and salsa for her first meal.
She was finally able to pack her belongings in an old battered suitcase and escape. It took her two long days of travel to reach Logan's cabin. She'd barely eaten or slept during her journey. When she finally made it to his door, there was no answer to the doorbell or her knocking. She's certain she's at the correct address.
Logan was in the shower when she arrived at his door. When she announces that she's his fiancée, he tells her that he's not only never heard of her, but he also never plans to marry—anyone. He's certain Bobbi is still up to her matchmaking and she brought Finley to his door.
It's at this point when everything catches up to Finley and she faints. When she comes to, she seems to be more upset about no tacos or chips and salsa than anything else.
She's the most beautiful woman he's ever seen. The least he can do is to make the trip into town for the meal he evidently had promised her. He'll just feed her and send her on her way...

Finley’s story isn’t just about falling in love. It’s about breaking free. After growing up in a controlling cult where her future was never her own, she makes a choice that takes everything inside her: she runs. With the help of a mail-order bride agency, she escapes just days before she’s meant to be forced into marriage — and heads for a new life with the man she’s been secretly corresponding with.
Only… when she arrives on his porch, asking for tacos and hope in her eyes, her “fiancé” has no idea who she is.
Logan didn’t sign up for any of this. A rugged mountain man with a past full of betrayal, he’s built a quiet life in the woods after his world fell apart years ago. He has no interest in marriage — or strangers showing up at his door. But Finley? She’s not just any stranger.
She’s sweet, sharp, brave as hell, and she looks at him like he might be the safest place she’s ever found.
What follows is a slow, tender unraveling. Finley doesn’t beg or push. She just stays — and slowly, Logan begins to see what they could be. He listens to her past, helps her reclaim her future, and shows her that real love doesn’t control — it cherishes.
There’s warmth here. Laughter. Heart-melting vulnerability. The tacos and chips are just a bonus. This isn’t a love story built on insta-lust or drama — it’s built on healing, trust, and two people quietly deciding that maybe fate did get something right.
If you love runaway brides, grumpy mountain men with golden hearts, and the kind of story that weaves trauma and tenderness into a truly unforgettable romance — Mountain Man’s Mail Order Runaway will absolutely steal your heart.

Tacos with chips and salsa, and maybe ice cream with chocolate syrup for dessert
Mountain Man's Mail Order Runaway is the fifth book in the Wildwood Valley Brides series. I really enjoyed this short, sweet, emotional, slight drama, and a lot of passion story. It finds Finley arriving at the cabin of her Fiance, a man she has never even seen a picture of before. She has travelled for two days to get to Wildwood, as she fled her family home in Nevada. She grew up in a cult and is the youngest in the family at twenty-three years old. She had not wanted that life and had wanted out, luckily she got some help doing that. When Logan opens the door let's just say they are both surprised but for very different reasons. Logan is wet from a shower wearing only a towel and what a man he is. Logan was not expecting anyone and is surprised by the curvy beautiful younger woman standing on his porch with a suitcase, only to discover she is his mail order bride. Plus he was supposed to have tacos with chips and salsa waiting for her. Finley faints and that is all it takes for this big, broody, and never getting married mountain man to literally melt the ice around his heart. It seems Bobbi has been meddling once again and she may be having some help on the inside of all the mountain men.
Get ready to dive into the delightful fifth book of the Wildwood Valley Brides series, “Mountain Man’s Mail Order Runaway!” Bobbi is back at it, working her magic with mail-order brides, and this time she’s bringing together Finley and Logan in a wonderfully charming way.
Logan, like the other guys, thought he was better off staying single forever. But everything changes when Finley arrives at his doorstep and instantly collapses from exhaustion. After she wakes up, she excitedly asks about the tacos, chips, and salsa he promised her. But here’s the twist—Logan doesn’t know a thing about Finley being his mail-order bride or her craving for snacks! As Finley starts to worry that he might send her away, she wonders if there’s still a chance for them.
Now that Finley is in Logan's life, will he let her walk away, or will he finally open his heart to love? Just like the other books in the series, this story is a joyful read that’s hard to put down. You’ll find yourself rooting for Finley and Logan as they share their sweet, sizzling chemistry. It’s the perfect, fun escape to enjoy right before bedtime!

She’s running from danger. He’s sworn off love. Until her.
Finley (h) has one chance to escape the life she never chose. Her journey leads her to a remote mountain cabin and the man she believes will give her safety and a home. But Logan (H) never signed up for a mail order bride, and the last thing he wants is someone dismantling the careful walls around his life.
What starts as an uneasy arrangement takes an unexpected turn over shared tacos, quiet nights, and moments that chip away at old fears. Logan’s protective nature collides with his vow to stay unattached, and Finley’s new freedom pushes her to take risks she never imagined. Between hard-won trust and feelings neither planned for, they have to decide if they’re ready to let someone in.
Finley grows from a sheltered and fearful young woman into someone who embraces her independence and builds a life on her own terms. Logan shifts from a solitary man shut off from love to one willing to open his heart again. Together, they turn uncertainty into deep trust, mutual respect, and a partnership built on safety, love, and shared dreams.
A steamy, age gap, instalove, mountain man, unexpected bride, small town romance, exploring love, freedom, trust, healing from trauma, self-discovery, and new beginnings.
A runaway bride, a protective mountain man, and a romance that grabs you from page one!!!
Renee’s escape isn’t just dramatic—it’s desperate. Fleeing in the dead of night with nothing but a new name and the hope of freedom, she’s prepared for danger… but not for Logan. He never signed up for a bride, but when she arrives at his door exhausted and in need of protection, instinct takes over.
What follows is a heart-pounding mix of suspense and swoon. Logan’s gruff, guarded exterior hides a fiercely protective heart, and Renee’s journey from fear to trust is as satisfying as the fiery chemistry between them. The forced proximity makes every interaction crackle, while the age-gap dynamic adds a delicious tension to their insta-love connection.
Fast-paced and brimming with heat, Mountain Man’s Mail Order Runaway delivers exactly what it promises—an addictive, one-sitting read with an alpha hero, a heroine worth rooting for, and a happily-ever-after that feels like a warm blanket after a storm.
If you love protective lumberjacks, strong-yet-vulnerable heroines, and romances that balance danger with devotion, this is your next one-hour escape.

Love Changes Everything - Finley thought her life was about to get better after escaping the cult to be a mail order bride, but she was disappointed when she arrived to find out her groom to be knew nothing about her. Logan had made a decision to remain a bachelor all his life, but unbeknownst to him, the town matchmaker had set him up with a mail order bride. The first interaction between Finley and Logan didn’t go well, as she blacked out after discovering the truth, but he turned it around her and made her feel better.
Spending time with Finley heightened Logan’s attraction for her, especially after learning about the life she had escaped from. Fortunately, after Logan enjoyed one mind blowing night with Finley, he knew there was way he was letting her go, which led to them proceeding with the happily ever after they were meant to have. I really enjoyed reading this heartwarming romance story, with wonderful characters, a well-written storyline and no major drama, that kept me entertained as I turned the pages. Grab a copy of this book and you won’t be disappointed.

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 A breathtaking escape, a heart-melting hero, and all the feels!
Lilah Hart has done it again with Mountain Man’s Mail Order Runaway—a deeply emotional, slow-burn romance that tugged at my heart from the very first page. Finley’s story is equal parts heartbreaking and hopeful. Her desperate escape from a life of fear and her brave leap into the unknown had me hooked instantly. And then there’s Logan—strong, silent, protective, and utterly swoon-worthy.
Their chemistry is undeniable, but what truly stole my heart was the tenderness and trust that built between them. Logan never asked for a bride, yet when Finley shows up fragile and scared, he doesn’t hesitate to become her safe haven. Watching them find healing, hope, and love in the quiet corners of Wildwood Valley was simply magical.
This book is a perfect mix of emotional depth, suspense, small-town charm, and sweet, slow-burning romance. It left me with a full heart and a huge smile. If you love protective mountain men, brave heroines, and stories where love truly conquers all, this one’s for you.

This was a great dive into the Wildwood Valley Brides. Someone, namely inn runner Bobbi, has been matchmaking everywhere. It just turns out this time she has some family help in setting up Logan.
I have such respect and admiration for Finley. She has escaped a life much of us don't want to hear, let alone have to have lived through it. She thinks she's coming to meet her mail order husband, with a side of chips and salsa. something she's dreamed about.
Reality comes crashing down when she makes it there, dead on her feet, and he has no idea about her, where she faints, and just wants safety and the promise of tacos, chips, and salsa. It's a recurring joke that really makes the book stand out.
I love how Logan doesn't even realize how quickly he fell for Finley after opening his door to her. These two open up in a deep way, and allow Finley to have a chance at a new life, and a new love.
Its got humor, sarcasm hits great even if its unintended, and a beautiful HEA.
Finley needed to escape from the compound where she grew up. A place where it was only a matter of time before she would be forced to marry someone who didn't even care about her. So when she met a man online who promised to keep her safe, she left in the middle of the night and she didn't look back. But when she got to her fiance's house, he had no idea who she was. Logan didn't know who this woman was, but she was beautiful. And she looked like she was about to pass out. He couldn't help but want to take care of her. Give her whatever she wanted. He hadn't wanted a wife, but maybe he should thank whoever set them up. This was a good story, with a woman escaping a bad situation, and the man who found he wanted nothing more than to keep her safe. Sometimes the best thing to happen is the one you don't see coming.

Although this is a really quick read, it was really an awesome read. I just wish it was at least 20 pages longer. lol. Finley was dropped off at the cabin of the man that she was going to marry. In this installment of the Wildwood Valley Brides, Fin has been running on fumes for days and meets Logan Reid, her groom. However, Bobbi once again did her thing and Logan didn’t know about the whole thing. However, feeling bad for the poor woman, he got her the food that was promised her and took care of her and found himself feeling things he was very confused about. Looks like Bobbi was right once again, lol. From there on out, Finley and Logan talked and then things progressed to where they fell for each other and had a HEA. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

Running away from the only life she has ever known, Finley arrives on Logan’s doorstep. She’s exhausted, on the verge of collapse, and she desperately wants a taco. To say Logan is shocked when he first sees her is an understatement. This woman obviously thinks they know one another and for some reason really wants Mexican food. Oh, and she also thinks that he wants to marry her. Him, self-professed bachelor, Logan Reid. As ludicrous as the idea initially sounds to him, the more he looks into her beautiful eyes, the more the idea has its appeal. This is a fast paced novella and number five in the Wildwood Valley Brides series. There is lots of steam as well as a HEA. I recommend this novella for mature audiences only due to sexual content. I received this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.
This was another fun and quick addition to the Wildwood Valley Brides Series and focuses on the unsuspecting Logan and his future bride Finley. I enjoyed getting to know these two characters and seeing how their story came together and am also looking forward to reading the next book about Trey.

Finley has been corresponding with Logan for months and believed that if she could escape the life she was living he could offer her a better one as his wife. She shows up hungry and exhausted at his door only to find out that not only wasn’t he expecting her but he knows nothing about her.
Logan’s first instinct was to send her to Bobbi, the woman behind the arrangement, however having her faint in his arms changes everything. His need to protect her only increases once he learns her backstory and now he wants her to stay.
You can’t help but feel for everything that Finley has endured to find her way to Wildwood Valley and once Logan got over his surprise he gave her the life she had always dreamed of having.
This book is both heart wrenching and heartwarming, Logan is certain he doesn't want a wife, is happy with his solitude and logging crew, but the second Finley falls into his arms, everything changes. She is both fragile yet brave, sweetly innocent and dangerously hopeful. All she wants is a better situation than she was in, to feel safe and to hope that somebody might finally give a damn......and that sweet innocent hope is what cracks the ice and stone around Logan's heart. I love seeing him want to protect her, care for her and provide a safe place for her, but my favourite moment has to be the tacos! I read this on Kindle Unlimited, I have missed the earlier books in this Wildwood Valley Brides series, but will be going back to read them.
This one definitely was a first for me, in terms of who/where/why the FMC was running from. In a cult. She was in a cult. Wanting to escape being the cult leader's next wife, she ran. Well, that and promise of food. Anyway, if you were in this situation, and you ran into someone that was going to help you, Logan would be the best one to run into. And lucky for Renee, no. Sorry. Findley (Why would you ever pick a pseudonym like that?) she did just that. This quick and spicy read was a fun read. Because of its' length, some things that I wanted to know more about was unavailable, but the story was still quite engaging and entertaining.

I absolutely loved this one. Not that I don’t love them all but this one was heartbreaking to start out. Finley from Nevada came to Wildwood Valley on the assumption that she was getting married. As she went up to the door, exhausted and ready to pass out she rang the bell twice then knocked. Still no one answered the door. She was ready to ring the doorbell again but the door flew open and there she saw the most beautiful man ever. She asked if he was Logan Reid to which he replied yes he was Logan Reid. Finley said she was here. He had absolutely no idea what she was talking about. Then he realized that Bobbi was playing matchmaker again. While she was standing there talking all of a sudden… 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰💜💜💜💜💜💜😊😊😊😊😊😊

Finley escaped from a cult by secretly becoming a mail order bride. When she appears at Logan’s doorstep, he, at first, is clueless until the pieces come together. He figures Bobbi is at it again of setting eligible mountain man for mail order brides. After Finely tells him her story, the attraction builds and he doesn’t want to let her leave. When Finley ask him to be her first, will he agree or say no? Could they have a HEA? Wonderful story! The chemistry between the characters and the plot were well-written. Highly recommend. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Bobbi continues to play matchmaker, and this one had the potential of danger written all over it. Finely's background was that of being reared in a cult and longing for a regular life. Logan long ago swore he would never give his heart away again... and he meant it. While Finely's story was touching, there wasn't really any connection between the MCs and the story went from freezing to flames in seconds. Now, we don't really read these quickies for the plot, but it's nice when there is something to support the connection aside from physical drawl. Eh, maybe that's just my opinion. Draw your own conclusion.
Book five in the Wildwood Valley Brides series has alot tropes I really love, an ex military hero, a mail order bride, the age gap and a heroine finding courage. In this book Finley risks everything to get away from her past. She signs up for a mail order bride service without knowing exactly what to expect. She ends up at Logan’s cabin. He’s a gruff former military man who likes his time to himself and who didn’t expect to find someone like Finley. The spark between them is instant. The story moves fast with tense moments and sweet moments. I really loved watching Finely and Logan's love story develop. It was quick, it was romantic, and it was satisfying. I absolutley love this series!!!!
Finley is on the run from a religious cult and finally after chatting with one "Logan Reid" for a while, mustered up the courage to run away and meet him. Logan is caught completely off guard, because of course it was Bobbi who has been setting it up all this while and not the real Logan. Why is Bobbi setting up all the men in town? Is Logan going to turn Finley away?
I love the author's short sweet and steamy stories. They are always well written and easy, fun entertainment. You can never go wrong with one of her books!.

Finley is pushing herself as hard as she can, looking forward to Tacos with chips and salsa. Carrying all she had and so happy to be almost to the man who said he was going to marry her and have her favorite meal waiting on her. Exhausted and starving, she was happy to be someplace safe. The Mountain Man’s Mail Order Runaway is a great read. I enjoyed the storyline and the characters, combined they made an excellent story. Grab this story and the rest of the series and enjoy!.

Mountain Man's Mail Order Runaway is book five of the Wildwood Valley Brides Series.
Finley has esaped her bad home life and is on her way to a new life that she has created for herself. She is to be a mail order bride for Logan, but he doesn't know it yet.
I loved how protective Logan was for Finley when the meet and she needs help. He also does what he can to make her wishes come true. They fall instantaneously in love and have sparks flying out of the cabin with their chemistry.
-This is a sweet, steamy, and heartwarming insta-love with charm and a touch of humor. I received a free copy and am voluntarily sharing my honest thoughts. Finley flees a cult and collapses on Logan’s doorstep—uninvited but not unwelcome for long. He swore off love, but her tacos-and-trust approach chips away at his walls.
A delightful mountain man romance about second chances and unexpected beginnings. Bobbi strikes again in this fun addition to the series.
