Lustiges Abenteuer für Groß und Klein mit wunderschönen Illustrationen!
Kater Muffin, ständig leicht entnervt, am Verhungern (wo bleiben die Snacks???), schläft am liebsten. Aber wenn der Zauberer, bei dem man wohnt einem sein letztes Törtchen ausversehen in ein ständig Chaos-stiftendes Kaninchen verwandelt und die Katzenklappe statt in den schönen Garten in gefährliche Abenteuer führt, muss er wohl oder übel da durch. Diesmal führt das Abenteuer zu den Wikingern, die die beiden für Trolljäger halten...
Für Katzenliebhaber jeden Alters und alle Abenteurer absolut empfehlenswert. Einfach nur goldig.

A laugh-out-loud book about a magical cat door and a kitty who unwillingly goes on a lot of magical adventures!
I already had my eyes on this one since I saw it in Dutch at a local bookstore! Imagine my delight finding the book at the library a bit later! I read this one in Dutch but decided to write my review in English so more people would know about this hilarious, delightful, fun, silly graphic novel (or at least mostly it is graphic novel).
Meet Murray. A cat who loves food (he has top x for a lot of things, from fish to sweets). He just likes to snooze. Likes to chill. Likes to have a calm day. But his master is a wizard, and not one who is the best at things and so Murray ends up with a hyper friend who used to be a cake (yes really) and is called Bun. And that isn’t even the biggest thing, oh no. One day the wizard accidentally magicked Murray’s cat door and now the door may lead out to the garden and a lovely sunspot orrrrr it may lead to adventures. Murray is always hoping for the sunspot by the way. He won’t be in luck in this book though, in this one he has to escape his kitchen (magic accidents ahoy) and finds himself in Viking time. With his little sticky buddy they are commissioned by the Vikings to find their friend, oh yes, and if they could just tackle some trolls along the way? I had such a big belly laugh when they entered this era and to see what their quest was. I mean, you got one little cake friend and a cat who wants to nap or eat, it is not the best combo to rock and rumble with some trolls!
I was very curious on how the story would continue and I can tell you, it was a lot of fun and there are so many fun twists along the way! Because Murray does meet the trolls, but are they really that bad? And what is that awful smell that is lurking around the woods? There was never a dull moment, only just 100% fun ones, and I just flew right through the book, I just couldn’t stop reading. I just had to know how this adventure would end, if Murray would find the person he needs to find (and in Dutch his name is so on point with what this person likes that it made me laugh when I found out). Plus, would he be able to get back home? And what did Murray make at the smithy?
I loved the illustrations, there is one section that consists of several pages of just a long long boat, and while I was worried it would go on a bit too long in the end it was perfect and it made me laugh.
I also liked finding out more about Murray’s family, because his family is apparently full with fantastical cats!
All in all, this is one adventure I would highly recommend to everyone. It will make you laugh so hard!

Dit wordt je nieuwe favoriete duo: Ollie en Wop! Soms komt Ollies betoverde kattenluik uit in de tuin… maar meestal leidt het naar avontuur!
Wanneer ze door het kattenluik stappen en in het land van de Vikingen terechtkomen, krijgen ze daar een zeer belangrijke opdracht: ze moeten naar het Trolleneiland om Eierik de Viking te redden… áls hij tenminste nog niet is opgegeten door de trollen…
Ollie de Viking is het eerste deel van een nieuwe kinderboekenserie, geschreven en geïllustreerd door Adam Stower, bekend als illustrator van de boeken van David Walliams.
De leuke kleurrijke cover van dit boek springt meteen in het oog en je krijgt dan ook direct zin om met dit grappige duo op avontuur te gaan.
De schitterende zwart/wit illustraties zijn veelal paginagroot en geven het verhaal goed weer. Op elke pagina staan slechts een paar regels tekst en je vliegt dus echt door het boek heen. Sommige woorden zijn dikgedrukt en/of uitvergroot, zodat duidelijk is dat daar even de nadruk op gelegd moet worden. Zelfs kinderen die uit zichzelf niet snel een boek oppakken zullen veel plezier beleven met de doldwaze avonturen van een heldhaftige kat en een kleverig konijn.
De paar leuke interactieve grapjes in het boek zorgen ook voor een grote betrokkenheid tijdens het (voor)lezen.
Ollie de Viking is een super leuk verhaal boordevol actie en hilarische situaties waar jong en oud van zal genieten. Als extraatje vind je achterin het boek de bonus van Wop: een tekenles met tips om zelf Ollie te leren tekenen, grappige familiefoto’s en nog veel meer.
Voor kinderen vanaf ongeveer 7 jaar die van avontuurlijke en grappige verhalen houden. Leuk om zelf te lezen, maar stiekem ook erg leuk voor volwassenen om voor te lezen!

A hilarious, laughing-out-loud series, perfect for reading aloud during family time or independent activities. I love that there is always a chicken in these illustrations and it's so funny.
Each book is a standalone adventure and this one is a Viking Quest. It's time to save Eggrik the Viking from the Trolls. Awesome illustrations and humor. Fast reading bit easily one kid will reread over and over.

the first adventure from Murray and Bun (German: Muffin und Tört) is just as amazing as the cover let's you know.
The pictures are just so cute, the jokes make you giggle and in the end you just want to read the next adventure.

Kater Muffin mag viele Dinge. Er mag Ruhe, Ordnung, leckere Snacks, sein Bett mit seiner Kuscheldecke Gürkchen und – an allererster Stelle – süße Törtchen mit einer Kirsche obendrauf. Was er dagegen gar nicht leiden kann, sind Abenteuer. Tja, blöd nur, dass er bei dem Zauberer Tatterich wohnt, der seinem Namen alle Ehre macht. Tatterich zaubert nämlich nicht wirklich gut. Um genau zu sein, zaubert er ganz fürchterlich. Als mal wieder einer seiner Zaubersprüche danebengeht, verzaubert er ausgerechnet Muffins bestes und letztes Törtchen in ein Kaninchen. In ein ziemlich klebriges, quirliges und fröhliches Kaninchen namens Tört. Tört liebt einfach alles, vor allem Abenteuer. Die magische Katzenklappe kommt ihm daher gerade recht. Denn diese führt nicht immer in den Garten, sondern manchmal auch direkt ins Abenteuer. Eines Tages landen Muffin und Tört im Land der Wikinger, wo sie eine gefährliche Aufgabe erwartet: Sie sollen zur Troll-Insel reisen, um Wikinger Eierich aus den Fängen der gefräßigen Trolle zu retten. Murrend (Muffin) und begeistert (Tört) macht sich das gegensätzliche Duo auf den Weg. Ob ihre Mission wohl erfolgreich sein wird?
Von Adam Stower habe ich bereits seine König Guu-Bücher gelesen und absolut geliebt. Auf seine neue Kinderbuchreihe habe ich mich dementsprechend sehr gefreut und was soll ich sagen, Adam Stower hat bei mir mal wieder voll ins Schwarze getroffen. Was für ein herzallerliebstes Kinderbuch! Schon allein das Cover verzaubert auf den ersten Blick und die Geschichte dahinter ist wirklich ganz genauso.
Mit viel Liebe zum Detail und einer ordentlichen Portion schräg-charmantem Humor erzählt der britische Autor und Illustrator das erste magische Abenteuer seines ungleichen Heldenduos. Gleich die ersten Seiten, auf denen man Muffin und Tört kennenlernt, laden zum Schmunzeln und Weiterlesen ein. Die beiden sind aber auch zu niedlich. Während Muffin sehr garfieldmäßig daherkommt, sprich geruhsam, verfressen und ein bisschen mürrisch, ist der kleine Tört der reinste Sonnenschein und ziemlich aufgedreht und erlebnisfreudig. Ihr könnt euch sicherlich denken, dass es dadurch zu lauter urkomischen Szenen kommt. Langweile kommt hier garantiert nicht auf, es macht einfach richtig Spaß diese zwei (teils unfreiwilligen) Mini-Abenteurer ins Land der Wikinger zu begleiten und gemeinsam mit ihnen auf Trolljagd zu gehen. Auch als Erwachsene hat man seine helle Freude daran und selbst der größte Lesemuffel wird hier garantiert am Ball bleiben. Dafür sorgt neben der ereignisreichen Handlung vor allem die originelle Innengestaltung.
Für Leseanfänger und Wenigleser*innen ab 7 Jahren ist dieses Buch ideal geeignet. Die Schrift ist sehr groß und die kurzen Textpassagen werden von zahlreichen schwarz-weiß Bildern mit Comic-Elementen aufgelockert. Die Illustrationen von Adam Stower sind wie gewohnt ein besonderer Genuss. Unheimlich knuffig und witzig ergänzen sie den Text und unterstreichen die Situationskomik ganz wunderbar.
Abgerundet wird das Ganze von mehreren Bonusseiten, auf denen man unter anderem mehr über Muffins Familie und seine Top 10 Picknick-Leckereien erfährt und in einfachen Schritten lernt, wie man Muffin zeichnet.
Ganz hinten im Buch wird dann noch der zweite Band für Juli 2025 angekündigt, welchen man nach diesem vielversprechenden Serienstart kaum erwarten kann. Muffin und Tört bei den Rittern, das verspricht auch wieder richtig toll zu werden.
Fazit: „Muffin und Tört! 1: Bei den Wikingern“ von Adam Stower, übersetzt von Leena Flegler, ist ein gelungener Reihenauftakt für alle ab 7 Jahren, der große Lust mehr macht. Ein aufregendes Wikingerabenteuer mit zwei unvergesslichen Helden zum Mitfiebern und Gernhaben. Köstlich-unterhaltsam, liebenswert-verrückt und süßer als ein klebriges Törtchen mit einer Kirsche obendrauf. Ich bin begeistert von Adam Stowers neuem Kinderbuch, mein Herz haben Muffin und Tört im Sturm erobert! Dem nächsten Katzenklappe-Abenteuer fiebere ich schon jetzt voller Vorfreude entgegen. Von mir gibt es 5 von 5 Sternen!

Die Schrift ist sehr groß und die kurzen Textpassagen werden von zahlreichen schwarz-weiß Bildern mit Comic-Elementen aufgelockert. Die Illustrationen von Adam Stower sind wie gewohnt ein besonderer Genuss. Unheimlich knuffig und witzig ergänzen sie den Text und unterstreichen die Situationskomik ganz wunderbar.
Abgerundet wird das Ganze von mehreren Bonusseiten, auf denen man unter anderem mehr über Muffins Familie und seine Top 10 Picknick-Leckereien erfährt und in einfachen Schritten lernt, wie man Muffin zeichnet.
Ganz hinten im Buch wird dann noch der zweite Band für Juli 2025 angekündigt, welchen man nach diesem vielversprechenden Serienstart kaum erwarten kann. Muffin und Tört bei den Rittern, das verspricht auch wieder richtig toll zu werden.
Fazit: „Muffin und Tört! 1: Bei den Wikingern“ von Adam Stower, übersetzt von Leena Flegler, ist ein gelungener Reihenauftakt für alle ab 7 Jahren, der große Lust mehr macht. Ein aufregendes Wikingerabenteuer mit zwei unvergesslichen Helden zum Mitfiebern und Gernhaben. Köstlich-unterhaltsam, liebenswert-verrückt und süßer als ein klebriges Törtchen mit einer Kirsche obendrauf. Ich bin begeistert von Adam Stowers neuem Kinderbuch, mein Herz haben Muffin und Tört im Sturm erobert! Dem nächsten Katzenklappe-Abenteuer fiebere ich schon jetzt voller Vorfreude entgegen. Von mir gibt es 5 von 5 Sternen!
