An Uplifting Inspirational Romance (Holiday Haven Book 1)
Book 1 of 2: Holiday Haven Can a holiday arrangement turn into a forever family?
Though a messy divorce has crushed her spirits, Summer Jones is determined to give her children a memorable spring break at her childhood vacation spot. But the Holiday Haven Guesthouse isn’t as welcoming as she remembers, and they’re nearly turned away by the owner’s grumpy son. Wary of guests taking advantage of his elderly father, Jake Wright reluctantly agrees to let them stay in exchange for free housekeeping. Soon, Jake finds himself falling for the single mom, her kids—and her idea to revitalize the guesthouse in time for Mother’s Day. But when a family secret threatens everything, they’ll need to overcome the past to build a new life together… My favorite quote is “So can we stay the week?” The sun glinted on Summer’s hair. For the first time since losing his wife, Jake felt the pull of attraction.
He stifled it immediately. He’d made a firm decision to stay away from women after what he’d done. This was the first time he’d felt any inkling of wanting to break that vow.
But he guessed he could handle Summer and her kids’ presence for a week.
“You can stay,” he said, “if your references check out.”
I recommend this book. A Home for Mother's Day by Lee Tobin McClain is a 5-star book. I am looking forward to reading more books by Lee Tobin McClain. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions shared here in this review are my own. When their life falls apart, single mom, Summer Jones, takes her two children to the place her family had vacations throughout her childhood. The Holiday Haven Guesthouse may be taking online reservations, but they haven’t entertained visitors for months.
Summer works out a deal to help around the guesthouse for the week she and her children have reserved, but they end up staying longer. Summer is working hard to bring the guesthouse back to it’s former glory and reopen to the public.
Jake Wright isn’t sure what to make of the single mom and her two children, but they seem to be bringing his father back to life after the death of his wife. While he's been brought up to be gracious to guests, Jake wonders if Summer has some ulterior motive.
With twists, surprises, and lots of heart that kept me eagerly turning pages, this phenomenal story showcases how God takes flawed humans who make mistakes and works things out for their good and His glory. Inspiring and uplifting, this story of forgiveness, grace, and second chances is a lovely tribute to mothers around the globe.
"Oh what a tangled web we weave..." There are several tangled webs in this story by Lee Tobin McClain. Summer Jones and her two children have learned that their father and so called husband has another family and the man quits making payments on their home! Summer takes her children to her childhood "happy place" for a week only to discover Holiday Haven Guesthouse is not the happy, fun place she remembers. She persuades the depressed older man and his son to allow her to stay there in exchange for cleaning the place up. The son, Jake Wright, does not trust Summer even though he is attracted to her. Then he realizes that Summer is part of a secret from his childhood that his mother shared with him before her death. A Home for Mother's Day will keep you turning pages! I really enjoyed this book and recommend it to others! I received a complimentary e-book from the author. This is my honest opinion.
A very good book about second chance romance and forgiveness. I loved every minute of it! I finished it in a couple of hours because I tried to savor it but I ended up devouring it instead. Wow! I really felt for Summer! Those poor kids! My heart broke for them. I didnt care for Jake much. He was too muchbof a hard head. Yes, pain and losing a loved one can hurt but it shouldn't turn to bitterness and hard headedness. These two characters amazed me as the story continued however. I think forgiveness especially forgiving oneself is the hardest thing to do. Especially for me. I'm gonna give this story 5 stars for a job well done! Second chances is my favorite thing about this story My thanks for the opportunity to read and review. I was NOT required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine.
A great start to a new series by Lee Tobin McClain. I loved meeting Summer and her kids. She is trying to give her kids a fun spring break by taking them to a place where she had happy memories growing up. Jake was determined he wasn’t going to let them stay, especially around his elderly father. This was a great story. In addition to the main characters, the secondary characters were great, and I can’t wait to meet them as the series continues. There was romance, family secrets, and growing friendships. I really liked this book. I received a copy of this book from the author and was not required to write a positive review.
First in the Holiday Haven series, in which divorced Summer Jones returns to Holiday Haven Guesthouse in hopes it will bring happiness to her children as it had her when she was a child and visited there with her vagabond parents. There she encounters the son of the owners, who isn't sure he can trust her. What really does she want there? And he has no intention of trusting her when his own father is so vulnerable after the death of his wife.
But what is revealed brings the two groups closer than any of the individuals anticipated and makes for an intriguing combination of relationships that is almost more than they can manage.
In this book you will read about secrets that are devastating to families. Summer is in shock when she finds out the secret her husband kept from her. When Summer and the kids go to the Holiday Haven Guesthouse she is shocked to see that it is no longer in business. When Jake sees her there he tries to get her and the kids to leave. Watching what happens with this situation will keep you on the edge of your seat waiting to see what happens next.
A Home For Mother's Day by Lee Tobin McClain is a great 1st book of a new series called Holiday Haven. It was a page turner I didn't want to end. Summer takes her kids to a guest house where her family vacationed when she was young and it was a happy place. Jake doesn't want them to stay. Soon he's falling for the single mom and her kids. Its a must read.
Wonderful Inspirational Romance Book! A Home for Mother's Day by Lee Tobin McClain is such an amazing and inspirational book with wonderful characters I highly recommend this book I was given a compilatory copy and this is my own honest opinion!
I ENJOYED THIS STORY. THE CHARACTERS WERE RELATABLE AND FELT LIKE FRIENDS. THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE TWO MAIN CHARACTERS WAS WELL DEVELOPED. CANNOT WAIT TO RETURN TO HOLIDAY HAVEN.
This was another enjoyable read by Lee Tobin McClain. It's the first time that I've read a Love Inspired book that deals with polygamy. Infidelity is another topic included in this novel.
