Did Not Finish

I have tried, and I have tried, and I have...yep...tried! I got to page 140 before I said, "Well, I'm still not really into this."

I am keeping it with the hopes of magically trying it again next Fourth of July and it being the perfect fit! I love the characters. Wait, I love the OTHER characters. I'm not a fan of grumpy/grumpy as a trope. I think that's my problem!

Also, the plot doesn't quite make sense. Why are they pairing up contestants in the "Most Eligible" contest? Isn't the whole point that they're single? And why does Cash need Mylie to explain community service to him? Can't he look it up? And doesn't he know what it is? And why is he SO obsessed with his sister, who seems heck-bent on keeping him at arm's length?

So...I really did LOVE the first one, but maybe not this one. I'll still try Tia's book when it comes out!

Mylie Saunders and her family use to vacation in Ripple Creek. She loved her time there. So when she became a lawyer, she decided to move there and run for mayor. She is trying to improve the small town without too much change. She decided to do the Mountain Country Most Eligible Pageant. If she wins she can start her Club 75 for the senior citizens. It will allow them to be more involved in their town.
Rancher Cash Holiday and his siblings are trying to make their ranch profitable again after their father ruined it and put them in debt. They started an event company. It’s taking off. They are also hosting the pageant and his family secretly signed him up. So he is only doing for his family. He doesn’t have time for a life of his own. It’s all he’s ever done was take care of his younger brother and sister, since his parents checked out.
When Cash and Mylie are together, they usually have heated debates. Cash really enjoys them. As the two end up being paired together, the sparks start to fly. He sees that Mylie really just wants to do good for the town. She sees that his family is everything to him. Who will win? Will it be Cash or Mylie? Will someone else win? Cash really has Mylie’s back when she has two of her constituents trying to recall her. They just want to cause trouble. She’s never had anyone have her back, not even her family. She’s a disappointment to them. The characters are wonderful. The townspeople are rallying around the Holidays and their Mayor Mylie. I love that about small towns. Cash and Mylie both deserve to win but most of all they deserve to find love. Cash needs to realize that he did his job and raised his siblings as best as he could. They turned out fine. He has to let go. Kylie needs to let people help her. I didn’t want to put it down. Worth the read. I received this book for my honest review. I give it voluntarily.

I loved this! It may have helped that I read book one in the series, so I already knew how at odds these two were and I was waiting and waiting, for their story!

Mylie needs to learn how to slow down and share the reins in life… letting others in. Cash needs to learn to take the reins of his own life and steer toward his own destination instead of constantly guiding everyone else’s path. You see what I did there? Rancher lingo?!

Anyways, Mylie and Cash are continuously at odds… but when the Singles pageant arrives, both are signed up to compete. She could use the winning prize for a club that needs funding. He needs it to help his sister. These two are not each other’s biggest fans, but both could use positive publicity, so pairing up and helping each other is not a bad idea… unless you realize that you’re falling for your rival and only one can win the prize!

These two and their growing chemistry were perfect, and the dance practice, yes please. Cash’s protective nature was totally all over the pages and I loved it, although his level of helicopter parenting with his siblings could be a lot at times. This community has been so fun! I am looking forward to Tia’s story as well as seeing where the newest character will play in future books.

I gave this a 4.5, rounded up to a 5 star read.

I received a complimentary copy. This review reflects my honest opinion.

This story is the second story in the “A Holiday Ranch Romance” series. It is a light-hearted read about a rancher and the town Mayor who can’t seem to do anything but argue.
Cash Holiday is the rancher (aka Cowboy) in the family. He is very protective of his siblings because he raised them in the absence of their parents, so he tends to accomplish more when he works together with them. His favorite activities are competing and winning. He can’t trust anyone with his heart because he was hurt badly by his former fiancée. His sister needs money, so the Mountain Country Most Eligible Pageant seems to be the answer to his dilemma.
Mylie Saunders is the Mayor of Ripple Creek. She works best alone and is not considered a good team player. She liked Ripple Creek when she visited as a child because she could be herself. Her parents have high expectations for her. She needs to improve her image as a collaborator because there are people who don’t want her to succeed as Mayor; the Mountain Country Most Eligible Pageant seems to be a way to achieve her goal.
Cash and Mylie love to argue with each other, and each of them wants the final word. When the pageant begins, it is each person for himself. However, as the pageant goes along, they learn more about each other and begin to help each other out. Will their determination to win the pageant hurt their relationship or will their win be their mutual feelings for each other? You need to read this entertaining story to find out! I look forward to reading Tia’s story in the next book!
I voluntarily received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. I was not required to write a positive review, and all opinions expressed are my own.

I would like to thank Anna Grace and Harlequin Heartwarming for the E ARC of this book.
This is the 2nd book in the Holiday Ranch series. Cash Holiday is not happy to discover that he has been entered into the Mountain Country Most Eligible Pageant, that the is being held on the ranch. What makes things even worse is that Mayor Mylie Saunders is also competing. The two of them do not see eye to eye, so being partnered with her does not make Cash any happier.
As the various events happen and the more he spends time with Mylie, Cash starts to in many ways enjoy himself. Can this pageant bring them closer and give them their own happily ever after?
I really enjoyed this book, great characters, plotline and setting. I enjoyed learning more about the family, the town and the towns people. Looking forward to book 3.

Another in the Holiday Ranch Romance series, in which rancher and big brother Cash Holiday is roped into competing in a Most Eligible Pageant of singles. To make matters worse, he's paired with Mayor Mylie Saunders, who has been nothing but a pain in his backside with her insistence that the event planning business he runs with his brother and sister follow the rules re: safety and more.

What neither of them knows until the very end of the contest is that they've been set up by a pair of matchmakers and Cash's siblings who rightly spotted how Cash really feels about Mylie and how she really feels about him, in spite of their insistence that they could never be a couple.

How this all gets worked out with the help of an alpaca, a donkey and a few dogs, too, is a worthy read.

I love this story. The chemistry between Mylie and Cash is fabulous. The interactions with all the characters and the wonderful animals are awesome. Some animals love attention and have to be the star of the show.

The descriptions are very visual, and you feel like you are right there with the characters. You can feel their heartbreak and feel their joy.

This story is very well written.

This was my first book by Anna Grace. Mayor of a small town meets rancher who's father had a bad reputation. Both end up entering Mountain Country Most Eligible Pageant. Who will win? Will it be Cash, the rancher or Mylie, the mayor. This was a fun, quick read and is released May 26th.

Such a delightful story!! I loved the dynamic between Cash and Mylie, the party crashing alpaca and the air of mystery surrounding Tia. The end of the story left my heart with that warm, gooey feeling of satisfaction from a HEA. If you are looking for a heartwarming romance with no spice, I highly recommend this one.
