Falling for the captain of the hockey team my father coaches was never supposed to happen… especially after he hires me as his new nanny.
Living at home without a job is not how I imagined my life after college would look. But just when I think I’m all out of options, one of the hockey players my father coaches finds himself in need of a nanny. Caleb Ford–captain and star center for the Aston Archers and widowed single dad. I jump at the opportunity, knowing it’s a simple job I can use as a distraction until I figure out what I want to do with my life. It’s a temporary arrangement, so I know there’s no reason for me to get attached. Except there’s one little problem… Caleb Ford is nothing like I thought he was.
Beneath that frosty exterior lies a patient, funny and kind man–a man so fiercely devoted to his daughter with a softness he keeps hidden from the rest of the world… but not from me. The longer I’m around him, the more I see the cracks beneath the surface–the grief he still carries with him and the guilt he refuses to talk about.
He says he’s not ready for anything more, and neither am I. But when we’re alone, there’s a magnetic pull neither of us can ignore. A heat that feels dangerous and a tenderness I never could have prepared myself for.
Falling for Caleb was never part of the plan. And neither was risking everything for a love that just might break us both.

MIa and Caleb (and Tella) stole my heart. They just snatched it right from my chest and held it captive the whole book.
I swooned and cried on repeat reading this one, and Caleb might just be my new favorite Archer. There is just something. About love after loss that just does me in and this one.. I was sobbing at parts.
Calli is such a comfort author for me and this series and this book I’m particular just wrecked me.
✨ Hockey Romance ✨ Single Dad x Nanny ✨ Love after loss ✨Forced Proximity ✨ Coach’s Daughter
Caleb and Mia put me through it let me tell you. Their chemistry was so good from the very beginning, and the tension and push and pull between them…’chef’s kiss. The way Mia was patient with Caleb when he struggle and so easily bonded with Tella made me root for them so hard Caleb’s grief and balancing the lover he still had for his late wife with wanting to find happiness for his future was so well done.
I loved the found family vibes in this and this group of guys will forever live in my head. This was a perfect slowburn that hit every mark and I could not put it down.
"She’s doing things to me I never imagined would be possible again. She’s making me feel things I never thought I’d be capable of feeling again."
✨️Thank you so much to Cali for this ARC for my honest review! This book tugged at my heartstrings. This is definitely a slow burn, they take their time and form a friendsip before hes able to open up. He has struggled to open up to women since his wife died. But once he does it's 🔥. I love Mia and Tella's bond and how Mia can relate to so much that Tella is going through since she also grew up without a Mom. This was emotional ride but you do get a HEA! 🫶 I definitely recommend it!
💭 The final book in the Aston Archers Hockey series completely stole my heart. Being inside Caleb’s mind? Utterly breathtaking. You feel every ounce of his raw pain and lingering grief, and then, slowly, the warmth of his growing love for Mia. His journey to let go of the guilt after losing Amelia is tender, emotional, and so beautifully written.
Cali Melle truly outdid herself. Caleb, Mia, and little Tella are characters I’ll carry with me for a long time. And how she wrote about Amelia, pfew… tears… 🦋 I felt every emotion so deeply. This was the perfect ending to a series that means so much to me.
Hands down the best in the series to this point. And I’ve proper enjoyed the other 4 that came before as well. Cali Melle has a pure talent for writing about women who are both strong, independent, mature and reflective. While the men are the most loving, caring, possessive creatures. If you love a hockey romance, this series is for you!
“Sometimes we find people when we aren’t even looking.”
My heart absolutely breaks for Caleb. It’s been breaking throughout the full series, but with this book at absolutely shattered. It had me publicly sobbing.
“She would want me surrounded by love and light. But how do I achieve that when the only love and the brightest light I’ve ever known ceased to exist?”
Then Mia comes sliding in, saving him from his thoughts, his fears, his grief and anxiety. Even though he’s a work in progress, together they stand stronger and stronger as the days go by.
“If you get lost in your head, I’ll come find you.”
Caleb will forever have a piece of my soul. He’s so strong. And Mia is so strong for being strong with him. Thank you so much for the arc Cali Melle!
“Fear isn’t always real. Sometimes it’s just a thing our brains make up. Fear can be good at times because it keeps us safe, but sometimes it can stop us from doing things that might be scary. Sometimes it can get in the way of living our lives.”
“Just remember to always find the joy in life. Laugh and love, always.”
Another book in the Aston Archer series that I read so quickly, but this one was definitely a more emotional story. After losing his wife, Caleb never thought he'd find someone to be a part of his life again and was so focused on just raising his daughter, Tella. But doesn't the perfect person enter our life when we are least expecting? And that is exactly how Mia entered their life and brought so much more joy to Tella & Caleb. This was so sweet and I loved the way that Mia is so understanding of Caleb's struggles as he navigates his feelings.
What to expect: -Hockey romance -Coach's daughter -Single dad x nanny -Forced proximity -Love after loss
Thank you to Cali Melle for letting me read/review an ARC of this book!
I’ve waited for Caleb’s story from the very beginning and it was so worth that wait! I couldn’t put this book down and I wasn’t ready for it to be over! Mia couldn’t have been better for Caleb and Estella and she was perfect fit in all ways. I love this whole series but this one is my favorite! I recommend anything that Cali Melle writes!
Cali, are you kidding me?? Make Your Shot is hands down my new favorite in the Aston Archers series. Caleb, Mia, and Tella stole my heart — and I don’t need it back. I absolutely loved this with my whole heart! This story was so emotionally deep and evoked so many strong feelings. You can truly feel everything Caleb and Mia feel for each other and within themselves, and it just made reading this 1000x better!!
From the very beginning, I was hooked on everything between Mia and Caleb. I loved seeing their attraction, tension, and chemistry grow. My heart aches for Caleb — seeing what he’s gone through and how it’s impacted him. But I loved watching how he lights up for Tella. He’s such a caring, down-to-earth dad who truly wants the best for her.
Then there’s Mia, who fits perfectly into their lives. She has such a heart of gold, cares so deeply for Tella, and shows so much empathy toward Caleb. I loved watching her grow comfortable with the Ford family and fall for Caleb. Obviously, their relationship was never going to be just casual — but the spice and chemistry between them was so hot! They’re so in tune with each other and work so well together. Mia has brought so much light and life back into Caleb's life. So it was very sweet getting to see him allow accept love in his life and love Mia. They have to be my favorite couple in this series.
The Aston Archers series just gets better and better as you go through it. It’s become one of my favorite hockey romance series and something I’ll always recommend to my friends. If you ever pick up this series, I hope you love every story and character just as much as I do.

Struggling to move on from the loss of his wife, Caleb is stuck with options for someone to help with his daughter Estella. Mia, who is unsure what direction to take her life, offers to help Caleb as a temporary arrangement. She’s the coach’s daughter what could go wrong?! 🤭
But when Mia creeps into Estella’s heart and makes Caleb start to wonder what a different life could look like, both of their walls slowly break away
This was a beautiful story of finding love after loss and falling for someone when you don’t feel whole yourself.

Bonus points for Caleb thinking he was able to resist everything Mia but I reckon he was done for the minute he invited her into his home 🤣
I cannot believe this series is over! What an ending! 👏🏼 I love this series so much — a bunch of NHL players down baddd for their women? YES PLEASE. You need to read this series if you haven’t yet!
Caleb 😭 something about a broken man.. he struggles, and it hurts. My heart was going through it for him. “𝘐 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘭𝘦𝘵 𝘨𝘰 𝘰𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘴𝘰 𝘐 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘩𝘰𝘭𝘥 𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘰 𝘩𝘦𝘳.” His story and where he gets to at the end is probably my favorite of the whole series. And he’s the best dad 😭 don’t mind me just sobbing again over how precious he is with Tella, and his time with Tella.
I loved how Mia fit in with them. She is so loving and understanding, and her relationship with Tella was the cutest!! I just loved them all together — it made my heart so happy. This one is an emotionally beautiful story, and definitely depicts love after loss is a raw, and real way!

Do you ever pick up a book and just immediately know it’s going to be like receiving a warm hug from your mom after a rough week? Because I swear every time I pick up one of Cali’s books, I get this feeling.
Another incredible read and I’m so sad to see the Aston Archer’s series come to an end. I loved this group of WAGS and Hockey Players. There were so many different stories and backgrounds.
I ADORED Mia so much. It’s honestly so relatable to not know where you want to go with your future. To have a degree but hate the field. I related to her in so many ways because I remember going through that exact same thought process of… “now what?”.
Caleb’s journey of healing was so perfect. The scene at the cemetery had me so unwell.

Thank god this book is done. I RARELY like the nanny troupe and this book is just the perfect reason why I don’t like it. There is no chemistry between Mia and Caleb. Caleb needs therapy, he isn’t over Amelia (which I don’t blame him!). He never properly grieved. This book was just all over the place and I never once cared. The ending was weirdly rushed. The pacing of this book was terrible. I hated how Caleb called Mia ‘pup’ I cringed every time. I don’t even think we got a proper chapter of them being a couple. It just felt like a set up to a spin off series (sugar hill or wherever the horses are with Willow and her brothers). I am so glad this book is over and I can FINALLY move past this series. It just wasn’t for me, my 9 highlights really speak volumes. Nothing criminally bad just not good to me. Anyways I am glad it is over.
All the Aston Archers hockey guys have their happily ever afters now and that makes my heart so happy. Still dealing with grief of the loss of his late wife, juggling being a single dad to an inquisitive girl and maintaining a successful hockey career, Caleb is struggling a bit. He receives relief when his coach’s daughter, Mia, becomes his nanny. This was an emotional story showcasing the ability to love again after loss, while still grieving, but that was balanced with some cute and humorous moments. I liked how the slow-burn romance between Mia and Caleb wasn’t portrayed as a forbidden romance, and spice was well placed and still steamy but not overdone. Such a great story, and a great series. Thanks to the author for the eARC.
4.75⭐️ 3🌶️ A single dad and his nanny - sign me right up! This book was sooo good and definitely left me teary-eyed throughout. Caleb is working through the loss of his wife and navigating parenthood when he hires his coach’s daughter to be his new nanny. There’s an attraction but they both know they shouldn’t act on it - she’s too young with her whole life ahead of her , and he’s emotionally unavailable. There was so much tension and build up while he does all these little things to show he cares. I loved the bond between Mia & Tella - his “two horse girls”. This was so sweet and so swoony; I love this series!!
🏒🐴💚 ughhh my heart broke for caleb with all the grief and guilt he felt…you could feelll all his emotions and internal conflict he was going through. he had such a good support system and a great wake up call to ease his fears and finally let himself be with mia. oh and the lead up to them giving in was sooo gooddd, so much tension and small stolen moments. and estella was adorable and i loved the way she was with her dad and seeing her relationship grow with mia. and as always the spice was spicinnn between these too…wooo so hot 🥵 can’t wait for cali has in store for us next!!!
tropes: 🏒 hockey romance 💚 single dad x nanny 🏒 coach’s daughter 💚 love after loss 🏒 forced proximity 💚 slow burn
This book was one that I was eagerly anticipating. Having watched Caleb in the background of the previous Archers books, I knew his story would be an emotional one. It was emotional. It was also fabulous, and I loved the relationship between Caleb and Mia. It wasn't just that relationship that I enjoyed though, it was also the bond that Mia had with Tella.
I absolutely devoured this book, and it just felt right that Cale was the last to have his story told. Loved these characters, as well as the setting. I don't want to say goodbye to them, but I know Cali will create another group that I will fall for just as hard.
Meh not my favorite. I HATED the nickname. The timeline with birthdays and how old characters past and present were made zero sense. I feel that love after loss tropes are very tricky to write. I wish we got more build up to the spice. There was zero growth within the relationship. I get that he was closed off to the idea of someone else and that’s why. But, I just craved something more. I felt the end was so insanely rushed. We go from him asking her dad’s permission to date then radio silence. I figured her dad would have more to say to him other than go get your girl. But, she also took him back so insanely fast. I wish there was more fighting for her.

4.5/5 ⭐️. Thank-you to author Cali Melle and team for a gifted EARC. I loved this book. It features a single dad who is a bit of a grump who is in desperate need of a nanny for his young daughter. Mia just graduated college and was searching for a purpose to life. She is the coach’s daughter and is in Caleb’s orbit. Caleb ends up hiring Mia . Mia is 7 years younger than Caleb . This book has a bit of a slow burn as well. When the two main characters interact it sizzles across the page. I loved this book!!
He’s a grieving widower who needs help with his sweet daughter Tella.
I love stories where one character really blooms to life when the right someone comes into their life. Caleb’s character development was really interesting to see his emotional side change from an ice cube grump to really sweet and caring. And Mia makes her way into his heart and the heart of his daughter. Their chemistry was building through the book and so expect a slow burn from this one.
I loved this story with my whole heart. I loved getting to feel all the emotions. Cali always seems to hit me in the heart and gives me a good time all in one book.
Mia, Caleb, and Tella's story is so full of sweet moments, heart ach, humor, growth, acceptance, and love. The family they create after some hard self reflection is absolutely beautiful.
Caleb is such a great dad, but his is also such a broken man. His heartbreak and struggles hurt. I cried so many times for him and his daughter Tella. I loved his thoughtfulness of Mia and her dietary needs. He did more than the basics. The heart on this man is so big and beautiful. Love waching him, grows, and accept his feelings.
Mia, what a gem she is. She was so supportive of Caleb and Tellas relationship. She treats and falls in love with Tella so effortlessly and has a sweet relationship her. But the way that she shows up for Caleb gives him space and understands his needs. Her empathy is beautiful. She brings happiness and light back into this family.
The chemistry and tension with these two had me sweating. They were made for each other.
Cali has stolen my heart with this series. I absolutely loved the journey through all 5 books. Each one is a stand-alone, but the found family vibs hit best when you get all the stories.
Thank you, Calli Melle, for this ARC. These are my honest opinions and feelings.
Adorable! Absolutely in love! She’s his nanny and the coaches daughter so she’s the definition of off limits. He’s still figuring out how to move on after the loss of his wife and raising his daughter on his own, that is till she walks in. She may just be the key to his happiness
4.75⭐️ Absolutely loved finally getting to be apart of Caleb’s story and understanding him and his background more! You learn about him through the other books, but this one really was so so special to finally read from his POV! And I also LOVEDDDDD that he was with Mia🥹
mia and caleb!!! i loved them so much!! i’m a big sucker for a single dad x nanny book and i had so much fun with mia and caleb
this was such a wonderful book about love after loss. caleb was still actively living in his grief, and moving forward was hard for him. he didn’t let his fear win and i’m so happy for him <3
i also really loved mia’s relationship with tella! she was so good for/to her. our horse girls gotta stick together!!!
i’m so sad that we’re officially finished with the archers, but i’m excited for whatever comes next from cali!
I wanted to like this more than I did, but it just felt a little flat. It also didn't make sense that Caleb is 100% all about his daughter and seems super organized, but waited until after the season started to find a new nanny even though he knew for months that his previous nanny was retiring.
I had also hoped for more of Mia with horses. When I learned that Mia had actually wanted to find a job with horses, but didn't and then we learn that Tella rides horses, I thought Mia would get back in to that world while attending Tella's riding lessons.
I'm probably being nitpicky, but the little things added up enough that I wasn't enjoying myself too much.
