What if volunteering is everything and nothing like you expected?
Liam had always been ostracised for his sexual appetites and despaired of ever being able to be his true self – until he discovers the Human Bovarian Hybrid Transformation program.
He was sure that being transformed into a hubull would solve all of his problems, and he might have been right if his contract had been won by the right breeding facility.
Unfortunately it wasn't, and Liam's transformation is grossly mismanaged.
D'Von avoids direct interaction with hubulls wherever possible – their presence a reminder of what he's sure he'll never have.
But when Liam is rescued by Resbis Breeding Facility, he needs special handling, and D'Von is the only one who can help him.
Can D'Von help Liam recover while keeping his heart intact? Or will they succumb to the attraction burning between them?
Liam is the third instalment of the Hus of Bovaria series. It is a high heat, bright kink, sci-fi, MM, MF, MMF, hucow/hubull erotic romance story that involves humans being transformed into cow-like alien hybrids and used for breeding purposes.

Sam writes bright kink erotic romance - all the kinky goodness, with minimal dark themes. Sam currently lives in Australia, which may explain any idiosyncrasies you find in their writing.
Good evening, everyone! I'm Christopher, and tonight we'll be diving into the book: Liam by Sam Aaxle. I am thrilled to have had the chance to read this book as a E-Advanced Reader Copy (E-ARC), graciously provided by BookSirens in exchange for an optional honest review. This book is the third in The Hus of Bovaria Series. The story is currently available exclusively on Kindle and free with a Kindle Unlimited subscription with a file size of 4.0 MB. While I appreciated the digital access, I personally prefer owning physical copies of books. It's a bit disappointing to think that digital versions could disappear with a few clicks or account changes, unlike a tangible book I can hold onto indefinitely. 'Liam' is scheduled for publication on July 25, 2025. This book spans 124 pages told using 14 chapters that also has an Epilogue. The book is all narrated from a mix of both liam's and D'Von's first-person perspective. I found the book's clear identification of the point-of-view character with each shift to be incredibly helpful, creating a seamless and immersive reading experience. This direct approach allowed me to effortlessly follow the narrative without any confusion. Additionally, the inclusion of Liam's timeline within a chapter title was a thoughtful detail that further enhanced my understanding of the timeline in the story.
Summary: Liam always felt like an outsider, his desires misunderstood and condemned. He yearned for a place where he could truly be himself, a yearning that led him to the Human Bovarian Hybrid Transformation program. Convinced that becoming a hubull would finally grant him the freedom he craved, he eagerly signed up. However, fate had other plans. His transformation was tragically mishandled, leaving him broken and adrift.
Review: -I appreciated the narrative's choice to introduce Liam and his motivations before he even joined the program, allowing me to connect with his journey from the outset. While the depiction of abuse was undeniably heart-breaking, I found it handled with a sensitivity that avoided overly graphic or dark details, which I believe broadens its appeal to readers who might prefer less explicit portrayals of trauma. I appreciate the book's core messages of the journey of embracing oneself, navigating and conquering societal biases and hardships, building resilience, and recognizing the crucial role of supportive connections in the healing process. I found the world-building in this erotic romance novel to be exceptionally immersive, unique, and well-developed, especially considering its genre. The author masterfully crafted a fascinating, and at times chilling, alien society complete with a distinct culture and compelling societal pressures. While I wished for more extensive world-building, I recognize that additional details might have been present in the first two books of the series, which I haven't read. As a standalone, I don't feel compelled to read the preceding F/M erotic romance novels due to my personal preference as a gay man. However, I am interested in reading the upcoming Book four, as the author has indicated it will continue Liam's and D'Von's story. I appreciated the trigger warnings provided at the beginning of the book, finding them to be a considerate and responsible inclusion. The narrative itself was well-crafted, offering an easy and engaging reading experience. While the details regarding characters and settings were present and appreciated, I preferred a bit more depth in those areas. As someone who typically enjoys more comprehensive stories, I found this book to be a concise and swift read. Although its brevity wasn't a significant issue, I believe a slightly extended length would have allowed for deeper character exploration and an even richer immersion into the story's world. I found the book's initial pacing to be quite slow, but the latter half significantly picked up, offering a more accelerated experience filled with increased tension, compelling plot twists, and engaging action sequences. While these elements kept me somewhat engaged, I believe a more even distribution of action and revelation throughout the novel would have greatly enhanced the overall reading experience. Trimming some of the earlier chapters could have helped maintain reader engagement before the major plot points unfolded, leading to a more consistently captivating narrative. I found myself drawn to this story, particularly enjoying the brief appearances of characters from other books. These cameos sparked a mild curiosity within me to explore their individual narratives, though not a compelling urge to immediately pick up those books.
-I found the book to be a delightful read, offering a satisfying romantic storyline enriched by its "spicy" elements. I particularly valued the emphasis on consent, clear communication, and the deep emotional bond between the characters, which significantly enhanced my enjoyment of the narrative. While the initial "spice" was well-integrated, I would have appreciated a bit more of it in the later stages of the book to maintain that consistent level of intensity.
-I find that listening to audiobooks while reading enhances my comprehension and engagement, particularly as someone with autism. This method provides a more immersive experience and aids in maintaining focus. An audiobook version of this book would be incredibly beneficial, potentially assisting others with disabilities or learning differences in a similar way. I would be eager to revisit the book again in this format while reading along with the a copy of the physical book if it becomes available.
-I found the climax, though thrilling, concluded rather abruptly after such a prolonged development, which limited the exploration of its emotional impact and a thorough resolution I had hoped for.
I rate each story I read out of 10 and for this one, I give it a 7.2 Remember this was what I thought about the book personally and I suggest that you give it a go for yourself.
I received an ARC of Liam: Hus of Bovaria and want to thank BookSirens and Sam Aaxle for the opportunity to read it ahead of it's release!
Liam: Hus of Bovaria is the third installment in this series. Like the one before it, it’s a short, erotic sci-fi read. The beginning takes place around the same time book two wraps up (I believe), and then time skips forward about a year for the main part of the story. D’Von, a recurring character from the previous two books, is one of our main characters, and we’re introduced to Liam, a brand-new (to us) character.
Liam, our human/hucow MC, is attracted to the perks that come with undergoing the transition to being a hu.
D’Von is a recurring character from previous installments in the series. Formerly a hubull handler, he now avoids interactions with bulls as much as possible due to the Bovarian government mandating that all citizens must contribute to repopulating their species. D’Von wants to father a child—but finds himself more attracted to bulls than cows.
After Liam’s transformation is mishandled by another company, Resbis buys his contract and rescues him. Liam finds comfort in being handled by D’Von, and despite D’Von’s hesitance, he decides—for the good of Liam and Resbis—that he will take on the role. Neither of them expects the feelings that begin to grow between them.
After doing an ARC read of the second book in the series, seeing Liam: Hus of Bovaria available made me extremely excited. I always say I’m not here to yuck anyone’s yum, and this isn’t necessarily my yum—but I keep returning to Aaxle’s work when it’s available for a reason. Their “bright” writing style, applied to material that’s typically more taboo or dark, makes the content much more approachable. The imaginative way Aaxle handles the hucow kink allows the series to lean further into sci-fi than similar work, and I think that really sets it apart.
When it comes to Liam: Hus of Bovaria, I feel like Aaxle is really getting into the flow of their writing. In a review for a previous installment, I mentioned that the time skips—while necessary—left a lot to the imagination. I feel like Aaxle handled the passage of time off-page much better in this one! At the beginning, we skip about a year, but before that, we’re painted a clear picture of Liam’s lifestyle at the first breeding farm. There’s one more time skip later on, but again, Aaxle paints a strong picture of Liam’s day-to-day life at Resbis, so it didn’t take me out of the story to lose a few months. This improvement is huge for me as a reader and makes me more excited to read Aaxle’s future work.
Additionally, I loved the further exploration of Bovarian culture in regard to LGBTQ+ matters. Liam seems to be pansexual, and D’Von has more of a romantic lean toward males. Aaxle’s exploration of sexual repression and ostracism was handled extremely well in Liam: Hus of Bovaria. I’ve been wanting to see more of Bovaria, and getting to explore a cultural aspect of the planet really hit the spot. I also think that—given the times we’re in—seeing LGBTQ+ themes handled in a positive light is so important.
All in all, I have to rate this one five stars. Aaxle has shown great improvement upon already solid writing, continues to deliver “bright” kink in the face of taboo, and serves up frequent releases that keep people coming back for more. I can’t wait to read the next part of this series!
Once again, thank you to BookSirens and Sam Aaxle for giving me the opportunity to read Liam: Hus of Bovaria ahead of its release and share my thoughts!
This is my first time reading a book with a male hucow (or, well, hubull!) lead, and I have to say—Liam took me on quite a journey. It’s the third book in the Hus of Bovaria series, set on the planet Bovaria, but you can absolutely read it as a standalone (I haven’t read the first two).
The Bovarian world is fascinating (and a little chilling): due to a fertility crisis, most Bovarians can’t reproduce with each other anymore. So the government set up a breeding program using transformed humans—hus (female) and hubulls (male)—as the main way to keep their race alive. Every Bovarian is expected to “do their part” for the population, and any love or desire that doesn’t help with reproduction is considered wasteful, even if it’s not actually illegal.
The story starts dark: Liam leaves Earth, hoping to finally find a place where he isn’t shamed for his sexuality. Instead, he ends up horribly mistreated in the Salgar Breeding Facility. The body transformation, medical manipulation, and the relentless ache in both body and soul make the first third of the book hard to read—but it’s intense in a way that makes you desperate for Liam’s escape and healing. (Content warnings are essential: dubious consent, non-consensual drugging, body transformation, medical procedures, milk kink.)
Everything changes when Liam is rescued and brought to a friends breeding facility, Resbis. He is greeted by DeVon, a specialist at hubull transformations. DeVon is another outsider—same-gender love isn’t forbidden, but it’s complicated and frowned upon. I loved how the author explored the pressures Bovarians face, especially through DeVon’s eyes. His boss, M’Rin, deserves a special mention for being a rare beacon of acceptance and humanity in a world obsessed with “breeding quotas.”
What follows is such a beautiful shift: DeVon helps Liam heal, and the trust and warmth that grow between them are both tender and incredibly steamy. I fell in love with their connection, and the way DeVon supports Liam through his recovery—emotionally and physically—made all the dark, difficult parts of the book worth pushing through.
I especially loved how the author balanced the high-heat scenes (and there’s plenty!) with real emotional vulnerability. The MM relationship is absolutely the heart of the story, and the ending is both sweet and sexy—no cliffhanger, just a happy sigh.
If you like your romance on the kinky, imaginative, and healing side—with plenty of sci-fi world-building—definitely give this a try. Just be prepared for a dark start before you get to the light.

a wonderful story line about a human male Liam who has a very high sexual appetite and who doesn't want relationships just variety so he applies and is accepted to the bovarian hubull breeding program to help the aliens with their fertility problem. sadly the facility that buys his contract mishandle and abuse him during his transformation so while he keeps his consciousness, he becomes difficult to manage because of their mistreatment. eventually his contract is bought out by another facility which tried to buy him in the first place because the director knew him and his twin brother. D'Von is a male bovarian who prefers his own sex but is forced to take part in the breeding program. He becomes Liams handler in trying to undo the damage that was caused to him and stabilize his transformation. While doing so he develops feelings for Liam which are returned but neither think they are allowed so hide it. This story details how not all relationships are traditional and how anything is possible with honest communication and understanding, patience and a willingness to accept each person for who they truly are. I received an arc copy from book sirens and this is my honest voluntary review.
I went into this one pretty much blind. I had a general idea what to expect, but it was a first for me in terms of hubull trope.
This was a short and sweet MM Romance! I originally thought this was a MMF, but I was NOT disappointed to find out it was really a MM Romance. There was one scene at the end where there was MMF... At that point, my interest was in the MM plot. I do love a good love story between two MMCs! Liam and D'Von were deliciously sweet to one another and there was plenty of spice to keep my interest! I found myself just swooning over their interactions, especially as D'Von, became the caretaker for Liam who was abused at a previous facility.

I loved both MMCs and their connection to one another. There was solid plot : spice in this read. The writing was solid throughout and I will definitely consider reading more from the author (@ Sam AAxle).
I was thrilled when I had the opportunity to read this book. It is fantastic! There are not enough good things I can say about Liam, D'Von, and this entire series.
I loved the insight into the process Liam went through to become a hubull. Not only do you get to see him when he is on earth, but also while he is transitioning at his first farm, and later when he's transported to Resbis.
The abuse Liam suffered at the hands of his first breeding facility was heartbreaking, though not overly graphic or dark if that's something you would prefer to avoid.
After the torment Liam has experienced, D'Von's care and compassion are exceptionally sweet. I loved their attempts to restrain their love for each other as they cautiously navigate a budding relationship. Both men, bulls?, have fears to overcome before they can be together, and watching them come together with the support of their found families was perfect.
Now, if you're looking for spice and not all of this sweetness, then you're in luck because this book was HOT, with plenty of spicy scenes to keep you flipping through the pages.
It was delightful to visit the planet Bovaria again, this time from a hubull's perspective! I enjoyed Liam as a character (and of course everyone loves D'Von), and it was interesting to explore the unique culture of this world through his point of view. This author has a simple, direct, and balanced writing style that is easy to read, and doesn't get in its own way. It's the perfect tone for a story set in this bovine-oriented world. Without giving anything away, I will say that following Liam and D'Von in their unusual romance is greatly satisfying, and well worth the epilogue! I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Loved it! This one was a little more kinky then the first 2 books , with a hubull instead of a hucow this time. Interesting to see the process and hu facilities from the other side this time. It was also more emotional at times and more plot that builds the characters and makes the eventual “mating” very satisfying.
Really liked reading about how Carmen and Yvette are doing and getting to know more about the business side of the hu system.
Definitely enjoyed it and would read a 4th book in a heartbeat!
This was a good quick read, it has spice but also a developing romance between the MMCs to keep your interest. I appreciate that the abuse is not described in real time. The two MC's just seem to fit so well together. The story builds toward a well-earned HEA. and I love getting to see the characters from the other two books.
Even though it’s part of a series, it reads perfectly as a standalone . the world building of Bovaria is immersive without ever feeling confusing.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This is the 3rd book in the series and is a MM romance/erotica. It was a good read, but I definitely preferred the first 2 books a little more.
In no means was this a bad book, I just feel the "relationship" part was a little rushed or blunt. But again, great erotic "hu-bull" breeding short read. It does have MF (hu-bull/hu-cow) as well as a MMF pairing.
To me, this was a solid 3.5/5 but I can't rate in halves so I'll rate it a 4.

Liam and D'Von This is the third book in this series and I must say it keeps getting interesting! Here we have a another settings, until now we got Hucows and no we have a Hubull, Liam. He Never fealt like he fited in his society, he had a lot of apetites that werent considered normal so he applied to be a Hubull but things didn't go as planes and he ended up being rescued but another facility. There is where he meets D'Von who helps him reviver and be who he was meant to be. This is a very hot book and there are MM, MF and MMF scenes.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. I really didn't know what to expect when I read the description of this book. I went into it with an open mind and without creating many expectations. I was afraid of feeling something strange, but incredibly, it's just another erotic book, as long as all the suspension of belief is applied! It wasn't the best book I've ever read, but it was far from the worst. I was able to connect with the characters and even understand the world created by the author. Entertainment guaranteed.
Still a fun & interesting world created here. This is definitely a MM romance, with MF/MMF sex thrown in. Similar to Yvette, we see how different facilities treat their hus & how M’Rin is really doing it best! It was also fun to see this from a male’s perspective vs. the female one of the last two novellas. Fewer cameos than Yvette, but some updates on the other couples too! I’m grateful for this ARC & an enjoying this unique series.
This was a very unique read. Great worldbuilding and a lovely story. Liams journey is not what he expected but it turned from trauma to sensual eventually.
Not my usual style but it was interesting. The human cow/bull hybrid theory is different and I had a little bit of a hard time trying to see what they would look like based off the descriptions. Could have gone further into the relationship of Liam and D'Von as I felt it had just started.
I received an ARC from Book Sirens for my honest review.
This genre is sorely lacking in softer elements, particularly around consent and I loved that this story is not at all like that. This story is heavy on consent and handles sensitive subjects like abuse well. This is also the first male lead I've read about in this genre. While male leads aren't really my thing this book was so well done it didn't detract from the story at all for me.
Sam gives us yet another incredible glimpse into the Bovaria and the life of hus. This time in an outstandingly unique perspective of Liam and D'Von's relationship. As usual to the series, this can be read as a standalone but does tie in other hus. Out of the two that I've read this is absolutely my favorite so far. The character development was outstanding and did a fantastic job of remaining realistic even with the heavy sci-fi themes. It was delightful to watch this relationship unfold and grow as the story progressed. The there's pinning and delicious tension, which makes the spice that much better. The plot was similar to the others which felt almost like coming home but still managed to remain as unique as Liam's personal journey.
Oh my gosh. The whole series is awesome, but Liam is my absolute favorite so far. It is everything I wanted and have been hoping for since I read Yvette. Thank you for not making us wait too long to read Liam and D'Von's story. There was a nice balance of sad and happy moments. (A lot of which, many bisexual/pansexual people or the LGBTQIA+ community as a whole, experience in real life). For instance, when Liam admits to D'Von that he enjoys having a lot of sex, regardless of gender, and he doesn't mind the idea of having multiple partners to fulfill his needs. From what I have heard and seen, the concept of polyamory is not very accepted or fully understood by the majority of society. On top of that, I have come across a question that a lot of bisexual people get asked which is, "why can't you choose?" Pick to be attracted to one gender or the other. There tends to be just a ton of confusion which leads to judgement.
A positive in this story was how the discussion of wanting children was thought through and managed. Everyone was comfortable, on the same page, included in the process etc. There was a plan in place to reach the desired outcome. Even if something someone wants feels impossible to obtain, there are usually ways to work around hurdles. This was an important reminder to think outside of the box, and not give up right away if a first attempt at something doesn't go well.
Thank you for providing me with an ARC of this book for free. These are my honest thoughts and opinions about Liam.
I grabbed this thinking it’d be a fun, steamy quick read — and it totally was — but it ended up giving me way more than that. It was what I’ve come to expect from Sam Aaxle: a really hot & spicy read that also has a satisfyingly romantic storyline. I really enjoy Aaxle’s writing. Their evocative storytelling makes Bovaria a sci-fi world you don’t just read about — you experience it.
This erotic M/M novel follows Liam, who’s transformed into a breeding human bull (hubull). After being mistreated by the company that first purchased him, his life begins to change for the better when he’s acquired by Resbis and placed in D’Von’s care. From there, the story builds toward a well-earned HEA.
Even though it’s part of a series, it reads perfectly as a standalone — fully immersive without ever feeling confusing. Thanks, Sam Aaxle, for another great read!
I went into this book completely blind. I had no idea what hucows and hubulls were.
The story was short and to the point. However I felt like description of characters was lacking. I would have liked more world building and character building. I never could picture the characters and understand them.
There was minimal plot and really just was a short story.
Maybe this genre just isn’t for me.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This was a good quick read, it has enough spice to keep your interest. The two MC's just seem to fit so well together and I love getting to see the characters from the other two books. The writing is just getting better from book to book. I will defiantly checking out more books from Sam Aaxle.
