Robert Wess has done it again

As with leadership secrets of a tell of the hun, Wess Has taking the historical figure of Attila the Hun, Dressed him up And brought his teachings to the 21st century. This is a refreshing read and it's insights or invaluable. I highly recommend this book.

I read the hard cover edition sometime around 1993. I remember changing planes at DFW when a grandmotherly lady ask me if I had learned anything from "at-a-la the hun". I chuckled and told her "yes, I had". And you would learn something too. Even after, what, 15 years, I recall this book. It is a simple read with a great underlying story.

It uses a historical context with a general understanding of the strategies of Attila the Hun in building a powerful nation of Huns, and then gets into details that are clearly the authors perceptions of how Attila implemented his strategies. You can see how this is simply a synthesis of popular strategy books that have preceeded this one.

Dr Roberts examines the leadership traits that Attila the Hun probably used to unit several barbarian tribes into one massive unit. Attila was an expert at getting others to follow him towards his goals.

Really hokey premise clearly intended to hook potential readers, and comically transparent. However, there are some good tidbits on leadership amongst the bumper sticker statements.

A second volume of leadership secrets, related as though Attila the Hun were addressing his chieftains around the campfire.

As in Leadership Secrets, this is good for beginning managers, not so much for more senior managers.
