Scrapbook Page Maps takes the guesswork out of where to begin by giving plenty of design ideas for their scrapbook layouts! By referring to the sketches in the book, you can select photos, papers and embellishments and then bring the page together quickly and easily. Helpful resource information such as a supply list and photo sizes are included on each card, along with page information cross-referencing the sketch back to the book. Scrapbook Page Maps is the essential book for beginning scrapbookers as well as those short on time. And you get more than just an inspiring, design-filled idea book! Also included is a deck of laminated cards that includes a thumbnail of many of the sketches in the book along with corresponding finished layouts.
Oh my Gosh, I can't say enough good things about this book. If I could give it 20 *'s I would. Becky's book is absolutely the best sketch book I've ever bought - and I have them all. Her designs are as simple or complicated as you want them. I like them because they are not just a bunch of boxes thrown on a page but well thought out designs with an eye for the proper use of embellishments. She utilizes the 1/3 2/3 design principle and also the use of 3's to draw the eye across the page. I've been reading each page from top to bottom so as not to miss a single tip or suggestion. Having the cards in the back to slip in a page kit was the most awesome time saver anyone could have thought of. I like that you can turn the designs left or right or even upside down and get a completely different look that is still balanced. Becky Fleck has thought of everything for this book, from the binding, to the great weight of the paper, the designs and tips inside, shopping lists and the special gift of the cards in the back. I can hardly wait for her next book. Don't forget to check out her blog and online sketches too. http://www.pagemaps.com/ Happy Scrapping.
I had this book sitting on my wishlist for quite some time. I heard and saw great reviews but wasn't sure if it was going to be able to live up to the expectations the reviews placed on it.
Just within an hour of flipping through the book, I found it to be great and had no disappointment of purchasing it. I think this book re-confirmed my belief that Becky Fleck, the author, is an amazing layout sketch artist and great scrapbooker too. The book isn't just the sketches and interpretations of the sketch(which I always appreciate seeing "out of the box" takes on sketches but that the "out of the box" still recognizably connects/resembles the sketch)but also tips, "eye spy" and technique ideas too. I personally love reading and discussing design tips/rules and the "eye spy"/tips/layout descriptions sprinkled through the book really help in not just viewing and liking a layout but taking a more critical look at the layout and understand why the layout works so well.
I think the sketch cards and holder in the back of the book was a clever and unique element to add to the book and think it is nice to be able to have a medium in which to just look at the sketch all on its own and flip over for "suggestions" if necessary.
I have not scrapbooked in a very long time and knew I was going to have a difficult time getting started again but I am sure this book is going to make getting started scrapbooking again easier and fun. Best sketch idea book published to date in my opinion.
I bought this book because other people were recommending it. It's the best scrapbook I've seen in along time. I stopped buying them because after awhile they all seem the same. This one is different. I love how in the back you can pull out smaller cards to take with you if you want to go to a crop. You don't have to lug the big book with you. I think this was money well spent. I don't say that much about scrapbooks anymore.
I love Becky's book so much I even gave it away as a blogcandy on my blog. Great maps/sketches which can be adapted to make gorgeous cards. It comes with a small box (you need to assemble it) and cards so you can have those maps with you at all time.
If you feel a bit blah and have lost your craft mojo (and that happens often with me) just give this book a read and you'll see you'll come all inspired and ready to scrap some more.
I think this may turn out to be the best scrapbooking idea book I've ever purchased.
Everything about this book has been well thought out, from the fantastic sketches to the beautiful color examples to the fact that the book is spiral bound so it can lie flat on your work surface. The punch-out (and therefore portable, for shopping purposes) mini layout cards at the back of the book are an excellent bonus.
I anticipate getting a lot of use out of this one!
clever use of the little cards inside. perfect for when you're seeking inspiration for a specific page. I continually turn to this book for layout guidance! The thing I love about this book is that its good for a new scrapper, or a veteran scrapper. It's so hard to find scrap books that skip the "Basics of Scrapping" intro and this one does. Well done!
What an awesome book! I'm so inspired to work on some new scrapbook pages! I love the card that come in the back. You can just pop them out and put them with your project if you are heading off to a crop and don't want to care the entire book. Loved it!!
A lot of practical designs with plenty of examples of every style. I especially liked the litte flash cards. I have started subscribing to the Page Map blog.
