Mads is the second duet in the Cash City Omegaverse series. While it can be read on its own, some of the characters were first introduced in Ondine Vol. 1 and Vol. 2.
Mads is a regular man, who knows very little about the alpha/omega population, but he soon finds himself between three bonded alphas and the omega they seek.
After a life-changing, devastating attack a year previous, Mads a beta, is now physically disabled, financially ruined, and dealing with a debilitating fear of alphas. He's trying to get his life together, but the first job he interviews for is with a pack of three alphas, who decide that they won't let his fear, or refusal, get in the way of what they want.
Acadia, a 24 year-old omega, recently ended a contract with a pack of older alphas after finding out they rejected their daughter because she was a beta. Acadia enrolls at the Alpha-Omega Placement Institute with only one preference--the pack has to have a beta.
Mads is a delicious, sexy, heartwarming story about found-family and self-discovery with a touch of mystery and grit. It is an invisible string story with a carefully woven plot.
Whether you are new to the omegaverse or a seasoned fan, Shasta de Leon's take on the genre is sure to have you invested and captivated. The spice is top-notch and complements the story's subtle themes of sexuality, social expectation, emotional relationships, and self-discovery.
The world of Cash City is populated by a cast of diverse characters with distinct personalities and struggles. The thoughtful representation of a queer identity, positive masculinity, disability, and mental health makes this book a real stand out to readers. It is impossible to read this book and not fall in love with Mads, Acadia, and the rest of the Soto pack. Each and every member of the pack will feel like a friend by the end of the book.

Now, he has to pick up the pieces of his life, while dealing with chronic pain and a debilitating fear of alphas. Yet, the Soto pack keeps dropping into his life, changing his views and offering him things he cannot refuse. But to join them, he’ll have to say goodbye to the omega he’s been seeing. He can’t just say goodbye, can he?
Thoughts: TLDR; An incredibly moving and gritty story about broken people finding their pieces in each other; perfect for fans of Pack Darling and Lola and the Millionaires.
The way I feel about this book is the exact same way I felt about Pack Darling, part one. I knew then, as I know now, that this duology is going to alter my brain chemistry and understanding of omegaverse for forever. I am obsessed with this story and am now holding on for dear life to read part two.
The first thing that I love about this book is that there is a well developed beta character that is the key to this pack’s cohesion. Beta characters can be so underrated in omegaverse romance, and even when they are present in the pack, they aren’t always developed to the level that Mads is in this book. I adore the depth the author gave this character. He, and his story, are everything to me. He very well might be my new favorite beta.
The second thing I loved was the way this pack cares for each another. There’s room left for possible romantic inter-pack relationships outside of those with Cadi, the omega, but beyond the romantic ties, there is love between these characters that I feel I haven’t seen in any other omegaverse. It’s something that transcends romantic or familial love. Something that melds the love of family and the possession of partners into a primal, emotional, protective bond.
Next, while the Soto pack is already developed when Mads and Cadi enter the picture, there are major build-a-pack vibes that work so well and had me absolutely on the edge of my seat to see how things would unravel. The strings of fate were working overtime to weave these characters together, and it had me by the throat.
I adored that Cadi is more of a dominant omega, which is absolutely perfect for the Soto pack; I can’t wait to see her work these men in part two. I think she and Mads are going to absolutely rock these alphas’ worlds. A dynamic duo in the making.
As always, I try really hard to not pick pack favorites, but aside from sweetest baby Mads, I have so many feels for Kol: the alpha that suffers from rut episodes and sometimes needs a muzzle because he gets bitey. This is another thing I haven’t seen done this way in omegaverse before, and I am FERAL for it. He’s absolute, primal perfection.
Between all of the emotional and sexy pack forming, there’s an overarching plot that involves traumatic pasts, dangerous mafias, and a super atmospheric, gritty vibe that paints this story in such a moody light.
In conclusion, I cannot recommend this book enough and I am frothing at the mouth for part two. My gods.
I was lucky enough to read this as an ARC reader and I can honestly say it was an honour. I adored so much about this book and demolished it in a day.
Mads is our broken Beta who is at the heart of the book alongside Acadia who we were introduced to in the Ondine series. Mads has suffered greatly at the hands of Alpha’s and as a result, his trust in them is zero and I think it’s safe to say he would rather eat glass than spend time any time at all with Alphas willingly. In walks the fabulous Oscar, Locke and Kol. All 3 alphas are fantastic and I didn’t wanna punch any of them during any point on the book which is a rarity! All 3 have their own issues they are trying to work through (I won’t say anymore and spoil it for you) but they are all equally loveable. Also an alpha in a leather muzzle? YES PLEASE! The cast is brought together by the lush Acadia who I wanna be when I grow up. She’s confident, fearless, empathetic and mature which is really refreshing! I cannot wait to see where book 2 takes us. I will be counting down the days to its release! 5 stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
“She quiets all the noise. The hunger. The fear. The anxiety.”
I love the tone and vibe of the Cash City omegaverse series! It is gritty and passion-filled with complex characters! There is an interesting balance created between fast paced action and events, and a slow burn romance.
These characters have so much depth. I feel like I really know each and every one. Of course, I have fallen for the sexy, haunted, beta Mads. It is impossible not to want to wrap him up in a big bear hug and cuddle him on the couch. I love the courting that happens to try to woo Mads into joining the pack without blatant romance. The pack-building is so perfect!!!!
What’s inside? 💙Omegaverse 💙Muzzled Alpha 💙Physical Disability Rep 💙Why Choose 💙Multiple Partners 💙Touch Him and Die 💙Win His Love 💙Fated mates and scent matches 💙Slow Burn 💙Cliffhanger Ending (to be concluded in Mads Volume 2- Jan 2026?)
Yes, there is a cliffhanger. It is a tough one… I’m going to be jumping on volume 2 the moment it comes out (the ‘zon shows a January date)
Mads is the second duet in the Cash City Omegaverse series. While it can be read on its own, some of the characters were first introduced in Ondine Vol. 1 and Vol. 2, I definitely highly recommend reading Ondine first.
⭐Overall 4.5/5 Stars⭐
I was gifted a copy of this book by the author. My opinions are my own. Thank you!
OMG this was so freaking good! I did not read the first duet (Ondine 1&20 and jumped right in to Mads' story and I loved it! Mads is a beta and has been through some rough things. He becomes the glue that pulls pack Soto together. I freaking LOVED how they were all connected without realizing it! Acadia knows Mads and Kol but separately, Mads knows the pack alphas, the alphas are looking for an faceless omega that Locke saw from a distance at a party, the alphas are enrolled at the "Institution" (essentially a dating service for alphas and omegas) and so is Acadia and they're all looking for each other without realizing how close to each other they are! Its so freaking sweet!
What else you can expect: *MFMMM *Disability and Mobility Device rep *Pack lead in his mid 30s (and he's a virgin) *Muzzled Alpha (has a rutting *Slow Burn *Courting *Cliffhanger for part 2
I couldn't put this down: the story, suspense and especially the Omegaverse dynamics were so interesting! I really felt Mad's trauma and it was written very well: that fear and hurt really got to me and I cried for him.
Everyone in the pack are different and I like how they all actually balance each other: their relationship isn't perfect but it's improving and I like how they won't give up on each other.
I really enjoyed reading this and definitely recommend it for an emotional and beautiful read with the Omegaverse genre.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
1Wow! I went into this cautiously and was completely blown away. The vivid writing, the tender characters, the charming story. I LOVED it and Mads and everything! Gp read this right now!
Mads…. Mads has burrowed into my heart and carved out a special place. Pretty sure his character and this pack in general will live rent free in my head forever. The pack dynamics and how everyone came together towards the end was beautiful. Mads has some pretty severe trauma and is terrified of alphas but the way Kol, Oscar and Locke showed him how they care and how they want to be with him gave me goosebumps. This is part one of a duet so it does end on a cliff hanger and it was not the cliff hanger I was expecting. Now when does part two come out because I need it!!! Thank you to BookSirens and the publisher for providing me with an advance review copy for free! I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Tropes: Omegaverse Paranormal Romance, Dom/Sub, Fated Mates, Why Choose?, Touch Him And Die, Slow Burn, Cliffhanger
I’m going to be really honest with you and let you know that I read this book because of the sexy cover. And I’m not even embarrassed about it, because look at it! This was a fun, quick read in the omegaverse. It is not the first book in this universe, but you do not need to read the others to enjoy this one. There is a nice little recap at the beginning of the book, which I appreciated.
There are five main characters in this book, and we get POVs from all of them, but my favorite was by far Mads. What he has been through is horrible, and I just really wanted someone to take care of him and treat him right. And wow, do we get that! He has so much trauma and PTSD that I was like, “Leave him alone!!” at first, but then you get to know everyone and you are like, “Okay, take care of this man!”
With omegaverse books, I am usually turned off by the primal alpha and omega urges and all that stuff, but I just kind of went with it in this book, and it worked! I know you are probably thinking, “Why in the world are you reading those books if you don’t like those tropes?” and you would be one hundred percent correct! It’s a mystery (but the answer rhymes with “rut” - see what I did there?). Each of the characters had their own quirks, and I loved reading about each of them. I found myself wanting them all to have their HEA. The one we do not get too much on, just snippets of, is probably Locke, but I know we will hear more from him soon.
I listed Slow Burn as one of the tropes because I did not expect it to take so long for these people to come together. Mads is the center of the story, so he kind of gets his time with them, but I was expecting an explosive meeting or reunion between them all and we just… did not get that. And then it ended on a total cliffhanger! I was warned about it and knew what I was getting into, but honestly, I wanted more smut—and there was already a lot of it!
Overall, this was a fun, quick read in the omegaverse that had such lovable characters with their own trauma and quirks, but they all fit perfectly together! I definitely judged the book by its cover, and it paid off. I can’t wait for the next book to come out!
Mads is a beautifully crafted story that delves into themes of healing, acceptance, and the power of found family. Mads, a beta grappling with trauma and fear, finds himself entangled with a pack of three alphas and an omega named Acadia. Their journey is filled with emotional depth, sizzling chemistry, and a compelling plot that keeps readers hooked.
Shasta De Leon's writing is both engaging and thoughtful, offering a fresh take on the omegaverse genre. The characters are well-developed, and the dynamics between them are both tender and intense. The book also touches on important themes such as disability, mental health, and queer identity, adding layers of complexity to the narrative.
Whether you're new to the omegaverse or a seasoned fan, Mads is a must-read that promises an unforgettable experience.
I dove into this story head first. Even though I can only put up waiting for parts of series in some rare peculiar cases. The wait for book 2 will be worth it, even if it's only half as good as part 1.
I loved Mads from the first page. Tears were on the surface half the book. The other half I was smiling.
Do yourself a favour and read Ondine first. You don't need to. But you'll understand better my following praise for the author.
Unlike some other omegaverse series creators, this Author managed to build up a second 2 parter that doesn't have a similar base story plot set. Cash City is the constant, not the tropes (except for Omegaverse). The people have different lives than the people in Ondine, different backstories, needs,... It's refreshing to read a series that brings so many different characters to the front.
I can't wait for part 2. Like really, can't wait for it...
Give me all of the angsty dark omegaverse books with pack formation out of necessity but also because they all feel something that they can’t describe that just says they belong together. I love an omegaverse that has a group of alphas, searching for their omega, but it isn’t as simple as smelling each other and instantly falling. Yes, I think that there are some fantastic scent mate stories that I will reread over an over again. And this story does have some scent mates in it. But what I love about this story is that the alphas truly have to work to get what they want. They have found the omega they want and need, but she won’t entertain any pack without a beta because she doesn’t want to be with any alpha that might reject a beta child. This book is part one and ends on such a fantastically suspenseful cliffhanger. It is actually the third book in the series, with the first two being a duet that is connected to the characters in this book. These are absolutely wonderful omegaverse characters that bring such depth to the story and make you fall in love with them.
Mads is the title character as he should be. He is my favorite character out the whole group. He has been through something horrible that has left him disabled and made him not trust alphas. He is broken and it is so perfect to watch his journey. Acadia is an omega that has just left a situation with two alphas that she thought was going to be her pack. She also has trust issues with alphas, even though she wants a pack, but they have to have a beta. And then there is Kol, Locke, and Oscar. They are probably three of the most perfect alphas out there. They each have their own reasons why the need to find an omega to bond with ASAP, causing a desperation in their pack. They interact as a pack and work together to take care of each other.
This was such a great, gritty, dark, angsty omegaverse that ends on a cliffhanger and will have you on the edge of your seat waiting for the nest book. Because it is an omegaverse there is some spice, but this was actually fairly low on spice compared to a lot of omegaverses. That is mostly because it is a slower burn and this is only part one. I can’t wait to see where this story goes in part 2.
If you like the darker and more animalistic implications of the omegaverse, this author is for you! Mads was my first read by Shasta De Leon and it did not disappoint.
Avoiding spoilers and summarizing, Mads is a beta man whose recent life has been eventful to say the least. After a traumatizing event involving alphas, he swears off dating and alphas altogether. But a guy still has to have a life, right? Enter Acadia, the quirky, single, non-bonded omega who steals our boy's heart. While Mads deals with some of the fallout from his own life, Acadia realizes that Mads is the net that's slowly bringing her own life together.
This book is a slightly dark, meandering tale of a man who needs support but doesn't want it. She describes him as a black cat more than once and it's apt. Mads seems at first like he would rather remain alone… except he doesn't. The slow crawl to convincing himself to take a chance on other people again is painful and heartfelt, and rightfully so.
In the end, I loved the book and it left me feeling a little unsettled and pensive about what this world might really be like. It's framed in a very normal and contemporary way so that by the end, I was thinking hard about how much I enjoy the genre and how we gloss over the way that omegaverse is literally animalistic and that would come with serious problems. The only negative thing I have to say is that I wish the focus had remained on Mads a little more. He has a great story to tell and the other characters begin to steal the focus of his journey a little more than I wanted. That, and the alphas were a little too forceful with him on more than one occasion but that may be because I was feeling a little mother-henish about our boy by the end. So full credit to our author there!

Whew, this book had me excited and frustrated in equal measure. Mads little snippet in Ondine’s story hooked me deep—I was intrigued, devastated, and by the end, my heart was bleeding for him. The way his ordeal unfolded at the beginning of this book had me nearly in tears. All I wanted to do was scoop him up, pamper him, wrap him in a fluffy towel, and fuss over him like he was the most fragile of omegas. And don’t even get me started on that insurance company—I was mad enough to throw hands. Thank the stars I live in a country with free healthcare.
Cadi, though—I really liked her. Her personality came through strongly, and I got a clearer sense of who she is compared to Ondine. And truth be told, I’m enjoying Mads’ story more than Ondine's. There’s meat on these bones, a reason to lean in. All these Alphas? Broken toys, each one cracked and scarred, but finding healing in each other. Mads, and finally Cadi, are at the center of that.
Kol? My favorite Alpha, hands down. He can bite me any day of the week—I’ll gladly volunteer. Something about a masked man just does it for me. Oscar and Locke? Love them both. Locke especially—total sweetheart. I want him to be a House Alpha so bad, and I am praying Book 2 gives them all the HEA they deserve.
Yes, this one was a slow burn, setting the stage, introducing the players—but once it caught fire? (fans face) That scene in the old Victorian house was pure filth, and I devoured every word. I am strapped in, locked down, and awaiting Vol. 2 with bated breath.

I love a good omegaverse story and this is top level. It has a great story line and drama. The characters are developed well and we get a great idea of the backstory, but there is still enough that needs to be filled in to make part 2 worth the wait. I loved all the alphas and Mads story both pulls at your heart, but you are able to see him find his family which I love.
This book is part of a greater universe, but I didn't feel like I was missing any major content - the story gives you all that you need for these characters and while I am sure it likely is spoilers if I read the other series now, I don't mind. I love a strong omega, and Acadia didn't disappoint. She knows what she is looking for and I love it- I also can't wait to hear what the rest of her backstory is. This story gives you everything you are looking for in the alphas and I love how we get honesty and vulnerability from all the characters.
Of course it ends on a cliffhanger and I absolutely hate that we don't know where things are going. I am excited that I don't have to wait long for the next book to come out in December.
I really hate Legs, so you know that is a well written character because even though we haven't had any interaction with him, the visceral hate I have for him just lets me know the drama in the next book will be good. Plus I am hoping to see Locke and Mads really step into themselves and their strength because they are great characters and you know they deserve the best - all of them.

"She quiets all the noise. The hunger. The fear. The anxiety."
Wow what a fantastic read and what a cliffhanger ending. There are so many different things going on in this story.
We have an Omega who requires a beta in her future pack after an issue with a previous pack. She has decided to try dating a Beta.
We have Mads a Beta who was brutally beaten by a pack of Alphas because he was dating their Omega. An Omega who told him they were okay with it. Now he is broke, jobless p, in perpetual pain and terrified of Alphas.
Locke is an Alpha who has been traumatized and he is coming upon a deadline that is quickly approaching. Can he meet the details that will offer him and his lack freedom?
We have Kol who is a nearly feral Alpha with a biting problem. He is currently obsessed with sex and needing to bite. He wears a muzzle in public or sexual situations so he doesn't accidentally bond anyone else to their pack.
Last is pack lead Oscar who is 100% inexperienced. As in not even a kiss in his past. He is waiting for the Omega who will complete their pack.
I loved watching this pack start out with something that is rarely done but they know its the only chance they have and they know he is theirs. Courting the Beta afraid of Alphas is fantastic. I loved how they each approached Mads differently though they all want to care for him. Such a wonderful and new aspect for an Omegaverse book.
I loved all the different things that bring this pack together. However, I desperately need to know what happens next.
There's something really different and unique about author Shasta De Leon's writing style, I don't really know how to describe it, but it's very refreshing & engaging. I genuinely enjoy their characters & the story they weave. I very much enjoyed the Ondine duet, and the first part of the Mads duet is off to a strong start. I also love the realistic representation of trauma & disability. I'm really glad I reread Ondine before starting this so I could catch the mentions of Mads & Acadia, even if they were small it was still a nice connection. Plus it's no hardship to reread Ondine haha. This book was really good, so much so that I am practically salivating for part 2. The characters are fun and relatable, and who doesn't laugh at an endearing (key distinction) bite happy alpha haha. But man do I hate cliffhangers... book 2, please?? Haha
The chemistry? 10/10!!! The characters? So lovable it hurts!!! The plot? AMAZING!!!
I genuinely can’t wait to read any / all future books this author writes!!! This book was so well written and the plot / conflicts were so well thought out!! The characters all have their own problems, but they love, respect and protect each other. The romance and spice were amazing in this story, and I would absolutely read it again!!! Now it’s time for me to start book 2, which looks like it’s going to be even better and spicier than book 1!!
I would recommend this book to anyone that loves omegaverse, reverse harem or MFM!!!
Book 2 looks like it is going to have FF and MM, so if you like that, you should definitely read this duet!!!
I hope everyone has a great day and enjoys this book!!! - Lexi
My first experience with Shasta’s world. I knew the book was a cliffhanger and I was not ready for the temporary ending. I enjoyed everything about the pack coming together. All the personalities were great to experience. Mads is one of the best people to be around and then you find out what changed him. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. Oscar sounds dreamy. Locke seems interesting and I know his backstory is challenging. Then you have Kol and he’s very interesting. All four of these men are drawn to an Omega. Wait until you see the sides of their courting. Enjoy the steamy scenes.
Love it! I am a huge connoisseur of omegaverse and I gotta say this was a unique world that has a contemporary setting with a gritty feel. It has sweet moments as well as some darker moments.
My favorite part is the amazingly thoughtful characters that you just fall in love with. Each character has so much depth and individuality. They all have some pretty messy pasts and/or baggage but still manage to be relatable.
I cried with Locke. I raged for Mads. I feared for Kol. I wished for Oscar. I admired Acadia (Or Cadi as she prefers to be known)
I knew a cliffhanger was coming but I couldn’t stop reading and can’t wait for the next book
OMG let me start by saying I have not read the previous books. This one pulled me in from the very beginning. It literally almost made me physically ill what happened to Mads. I quickly fell in love with pack Soto, especially Locke and Kol. I adore Acadia and the fact that she's strong-willed but compassionate. That cliffhanger is going to keep me up the rest of the night; I would love to know when the next book comes out.

As someone with physical limitations due to something that happened to me... damn. This story hit me hard and had me in my feelings. Mads can do no wrong in my eyes. If you have negative things to say about him... no you don't.
And the alphas?? God, what a group of absolute angel babies??? I absolutely loved this build-a-pack story and how much time we spent with the alphas. They all have complex stories and it made this such a satisfying read! The cliffhanger had me HEATED and I am dying for Vol. 2.
Once I got into this book I couldn't put it down. it was soon good!!
I loved all the characters in this book, while titled Mads it focused on each of them throughout it getting to know them and the love they have for each other.
Cadi is the glue they need and time is running out. I'm glad Mads jumped aboard the Soto train.
That ending though, I'm definitely jumping into the next book ASAP, I need Mads and Locke to be ok.
I was so excited to beta read this and then arc read it after and Shasta did an amazing job!! I loved this book so much! I really loved the characters and I just wanted to snuggle Mads and Cadi! Nevermind, I really just want to snuggle them all!! I just loved their relationship as a pack. i cant wait to read the next one!! highly recommend!!!
Oh what a mad mad world is turning to. I live it already. Mad is so well written and how worrying and life seem to really set everything into okay. I love cadi And I Cactus very enough of out pack
The whole story is so well written that I can't wait to read the conclusion . Dang this cliff hangers
Omg wow. I could not put this book down. I started yesterday and now it's 7a.m. and I'm dying for book two. I love them all. I think this is the group I would want. So freaking good.
Wow. This was so good. Check the TWs because there are some brutal moments at the beginning, and some PTSD representation. (Which was well done.). Good spice… and that cliffhanger. So many questions left, and the fallout from those questions being answered is going to be intense. I’m looking forward to the next one! Some tension, some violence, but it seems the second part will be more about that than this one. I could not put this down!
