"You think you’re too damaged to be loved." "I know I am," he said. "Then let me prove you wrong," she said softly.
Myra has never been wanted—not by her birth parents, nor the ones who raised her. So when a letter full of kindness arrives from a Colorado rancher, she dares to hope. But the man waiting isn’t the one who wrote her… “You’re not what I expected,” she says. “Neither are you,” Leon mutters.
Leon learned long ago that needing anyone ends in pain. A limp from the night his parents died—and guilt he can’t bury—keeps him distant. But now there’s a baby on his porch, a woman in his kitchen, and a life he never asked for. “You’re not staying,” he tells her. “We’ll see,” she says, folding the baby’s blanket.
As the baby brings them closer, so does danger. When a shadowed neighbor has questions about the child, they must will they cling to old wounds, or fight for the future they never thought they’d have?
A babe between, a porch, a cry, A second chance they can’t deny. Through danger near and pain once deep, They find the kind of love worth keep..

I’m a lover of nature in the mornings and a writing soul at nights. My name is Nora J. Callaway and I come from Nevada, the beautiful Silver State.
I hold a BA in English Literature and an MA in Creative Writing. For years, I’ve wanted to get my stories out there, my own ‘babies’ as I like to call them, as inspired by my own experience leaving out West and my research of 19th-century American history.
All my life I have been breeding horses, cows and sheep and I’ve been tending to the land. It’s time to tend now to my inner need to grow my stories, my heart-warming Western romance stories, and share them with the rest of you!
I’m here to learn and connect with others who enjoy a cup of black coffee, a humble sunset and a ride with a horse! Bless your hearts, as my nana used to say! Come on, hope in!
This is a really great story. When Myra fled to Colorado as a mail order bride for Leon it was because she didn't want to marry a man old enough to be her dad or maybe grandfather, not to mention he was a good person anyway. When she got there she not only found Leon, who didn't know she was coming, his sister Ruby and a baby who was left on their doorstep. This really was a very good story.
This is a tale of a very stubborn brother that didn’t want a mail order bride, and she was only her as a last resort to keep from being forced to marry and old man who only wanted to marry her because of a business deal with her adopted father. He agreed to allow her to stay as a nanny and housekeeper to watch over their doorstep child. You will enjoy the excitement and adventure with a bit of humor thrown in for good measure. You will enjoy the read.
This story about Myra and Leon has so much going on in the book. Right from the beginning there is betrayal for a good reason and a package at the door. Will the child bring everyone together or will it split people apart. So well written from start to finish
I haven't had a chance to read in a long time! But I am so glad to have been able to pick up another book by the great Nora Callaway.. Myra and Leon's love story was one of the best yet.. I don't like spoiling so I won't say too much lol can't wait to start reading the rest of the books I have to catch up on! Thank you for this awesome read.
A good story about a young lady who was adopted, raised by a couple, was promised in marriage for money. She ran away to Colorado, being a mail order bride, only Lon didn’t know she was his bride. Enjoy, great story
