Good For An Anthology of Women's Rage celebrates women's rights - and women's wrongs.
Filled with rage, revenge and retribution and featuring stories from writers including Ai Jiang, RJ Joseph, Hailey Piper, Candace Nola, MJ Mars, Leigh Kenny and SH Cooper, Good For Her is not only pure catharsis - it supports a great cause, with 100% of profits donated to Sisters Uncut.

She has written four novels - YOU INVITED IT IN, YOU NEED TO LEAVE, DON'T LIE & FOUND YOU - edited BLOODY HELL: An Anthology of UK Indie Horror, and has co-edited GOOD FOR HER (alongside Shauna Mc Eleney and TC Parker of Nefarious Bat Press).
If Sarah isn’t working (or writing), you can find her with her nose stuck in a book, travelling with her partner, or sweating it out in the gym. She is a mental health advocate, coffee-addict, and loves all things spooky and/or creepy.

Anyone who identifies as a woman in 2025 has a lot to feel angry about, so this anthology of dark tales of feminine rage is incredibly timely…and a decent read too!
Across the 17 stories gathered here, you can feel the fury, understand the anger, and by the end you’ll feel even more determined than ever to smash the patriarchy.
While not every entry here worked for me, there were plenty that I enjoyed and so wanted to shout out those ones in particular.
Patient by MJ Mars: men in the USA are getting pregnant via contaminated eggs in 2036. Clever idea for a bit of commentary - a little preachy in parts but generally very effective.
Babs by Anna Orridge: witchy weirdness in Wales…this one was fun with some nasty scenes at the climax.
Plague daughter by SH Cooper: fun tale of revenge and allowing women to choose for men, instead of the other way around.
The savage other by Leigh Kenny: weird folk horror set in Roman times, with celts and Britannia and such - lots of jizz and boobs too.
A suitable punishment by Lisa Hutchinson: aftermath of a mine explosion. A little thin but more than made up for with the amount of gore and blood, which was stupendous!
Teacups by Candace Nola: a seething and very effective poem.
Boss bitch by Megan Stockton: a crazy day in a literary agency, with a fun twist
Return to Sender by Shauna McEleney: simple but effective tale of vengeance and revenge.
Mandragora by TC Parker: creepy and surprisingly quirky bit of folk horror to finish, nicely done.
Not only do you get a cracking anthology, buying this book will also support a great cause: 100% of the profits will go to Sisters Uncut, a feminist group taking direct action against gender-based violence.
This one is out on 30 June - huge thanks to the editor Sarah Jules for a review copy!
Tales of the female experience, the coercion, humiliation, trauma, pain, the double standards, the cruelty and sheer unfairness of living in a world where the control of womanhood and societal pressure to conform wound us all. Here the power is taken back with a vengeance and it is so satisfying.
Everything here from forced pregnancy, a witch balancing nature, homeless protection, an angel gathers pain, a sister’s revenge, an awakened Goddess, a captive fights back, motherhood or bust, picking up the pieces, tending to the garden, the savage sacrifice, the bereaved strike back, a sisterhood on the hunt, burning rage, a toxic workplace, a satisfying consultation and a weekend away takes an unexpected turn!
Sliding boldly through different genres of horror - supernatural, unexplained, human, body, dystopian , crime, folk and revenge. A sensational showcase of female rage from the best women authors in indie horror!
We have 17 stories from authors who are all women. All their stories are, as you can guess are about women who have been wronged, suffered, sacrificed, bleed, wept, and suffered pain. These stories are about feminine rage, whether it be against men, women, monsters, or even God's.
These women are angry and be warned 😠😠😠 best move aside!!!!
Each story was unique and excellently written, I could not swipe quickly enough. Each story held my attention. I actually loved seeing what the women would do, getting their revenge, or ready to spill another person's blood.
I had a fantastic rollercoaster of a ride reading this book. I couldn't fault it. I could write a little bit about each author, but I won't. A couple of my favourites were picking up the pieces, which actually gave me a nightmare, lol 😆. Return to Sender also was another favourite of mine.
I thoroughly enjoyed this anthology, as it's been a while since I've read one. I highly recommend this read. You won't be disappointed.
This was such a fun read, as well as heart wrenching, rage inducing and alongside many other feelings I was often pumping my fist or exclaiming ‘hell yeah’.
Sarah Jules has done it again, with a variety of stories to suit every taste in this horror anthology. Good For Her pulls together work from a variety of talented writers and as always has shown me new names to follow.
I’ve always agreed with the statement ‘if you’re not pissed off, you’re not paying attention’ and this book was almost cathartic to read. Highly recommend to everyone, especially if you’re full of rage like me!
I absolutely loved this. it feels almost the perfect time for this book to come out. female rage is here, full force, and here to stay. The stories were amazing written, found some new authors I'll have to check out more of.
Good For Her is not only pure catharsis - it supports a great cause, with 100% of profits donated to Sisters Uncut.
I absolutely love reading about women getting revenge and retribution. 17 women from the indie community let their rage flow through them and wrote a very powerful and very cathartic book. Each story was absolutely fantastic and I loved the whole thing.
"Good For Her" contains sixteen stories and one poem, all by women, all original to this volume, except a Hailey Piper reprint ("A Change in Universal Flavor,” first published in 2022). The authors are all easily recognizable names: for example, besides Piper, there's Ai Jiang, Candace Nola (one story and a poem), MJ Mars, S.H. Cooper, Megan Stockton, Leigh Kenny, and the editors themselves, Sarah Jules, TC Parker (two stories) and Shauna McEleney. The volume also has a short introduction by Sonora Taylor. The theme is women addressing injustices against women, ranging from domestic violence to discrimination and sexual harassment in the workplace (including bullying by women against women - see Megan Stockton's "Boss Bitch," a "Devil Wears Prada" satire, and Candace Nola's "Picking Up The Pieces"). Proceeds of the book go to Sisters Uncut, "a charity supporting women and gender-variant people at risk of domestic violence".
All the tales are gems, but, by far the strongest story for me was the opening tale, MJ Mars' "Patient": a vigilante women's rights group in 2036 manages to get men pregnant against their will. Mars paints a disturbing picture of male rage, men in power feeling violated, others wanting to keep the baby, yet others pressing for abortion rights against laws which men themselves imposed on women. Mars' attention to detail in this story is outstanding - this should be reading material in seminars.
Other favorites include: S.H. Cooper's "Plague Daughter," told in letter format (a daughter adressing her parents), developing the anthology's theme into a terrific revenge tale of witchcraft; Elizabeth J. Brown's "My Pretty Little Psycho" tackles kidnapping and trafficking, giving the victim her own voice - and then some; Sarah Jules' "To Love and Obey" builds a society on the familiar prejudice about motherhood ("a woman who wasn’t a mother was worthless"), giving it an original spin which leave people speechless (at least it did me!); Candace Nola's "Picking Up The Pieces," another revenge tale, this time about a mother bullying her daughter, with an ending celebrating female empowerment; Ai Jiang's "Roses For His Garden," an allegorical tale about pregnancy, brimming with fairy tale atmosphere; Leigh Kenny's "The Savage Other," a fantastic folk horror tale of a Christian missionary meeting his match among the pagan (and women-led) Celts; and finally, Lisa Hutchinson's "A Suitable Punishment," a story of widows and fatherless daughters acting together to get revenge against power-hungry men.
This trailblazing anthology deserves wide recognition both for the high-quality fiction it includes, and the message it broadcasts, against discrimination and hate towards women. So much is taken for granted- time to rock the boat a bit!
Review: Good For Her: An Anthology of Women’s Rage
Utter perfection and immensely powerful. This anthology starts off strong with my favorite of the bunch, “Patient” by MJ Mars, which takes place in the very near future. Abortions have been banned, but an anonymous group has found a bioengineering workaround to making men pregnant, and subsequently uses this to impregnate multitudes of men without their knowledge or consent. I found myself grinning at the amount of hypocrisy and mental gymnastics the male lawmakers demonstrated while trying to find loopholes in their strict anti-abortion laws, since the language wasn’t gendered (and thus they were stuck under the ban too).
Other favorites of mine included Picking Up the Pieces by Candace Nola, To Love and Obey by Sarah Jules, and Return to Sender by Shauna McEleny. Every story in this anthology was superb!
Overall, this anthology was very satisfying and cathartic, and each story is especially relevant given these modern times. Reading this will also go to a great cause, as 100% of the profits will be donated to Sisters Uncut, which supports women + gender variant individuals at risk of domestic violence.
Thank you to Sarah Jules for the ARC!
“‘Good For Her’ sees women suffer, but they are not sacrifices. Instead they are angry, and everyone who wronged them is sacrificed instead. There are a myriad of wrongs against women in the stories that follow, and a myriad of punishments exacted on those who wronged them.” -Intro blurb, Sonora Taylor
Synopsis: “If you're not angry - you should be.
Good For Her: An Anthology of Women's Rage celebrates women's rights - and women's wrongs.
Filled with rage, revenge and retribution and featuring stories from writers including Ai Jiang, RJ Joseph, Hailey Piper, Candace Nola, MJ Mars, Leigh Kenny and SH Cooper, Good For Her is not only pure catharsis - it supports a great cause, with 100% of profits donated to Sisters Uncut.”
With the current state of the world, women—at least most of the women I know and love—are angry, and getting angrier. With injustice seemingly everywhere we turn, and rights gradually getting eroded all over the world, it feels like a great time to read some stories about feminine rage, vengeance and victories. Enter this new anthology from Nefarious Bat Press, Good For Her.
Chances are any fan of indie horror will be intrigued solely on the authors contributing—names like Leigh Kenny, MJ Mars, Megan Stockton and Candace Nola are no doubt auto-reads for many—and there are excellent contributions from editors Sarah Jules, TC Parker and Shauna Mc Eleney. I was most excited to read the story by Ai Jiang, author of the fantastic Linghun, and I wasn't disappointed—a quietly devastating garden metaphor for relationships, that squeezes some real emotional heft out of its short length.
This collection is more varied than I expected. Male oppression and motherhood are focused on most often, but attacks on the homeless, folk horror, monstrous transformations and a mining collapse are all used as a backdrop for vengeance and vindication, exploring many ways women may overcome adversity to get what they want. With 16 stories and 1 poem I don't think anybody could feel short-changed, but with all proceeds going to Sisters Uncut, a feminist group opposing domestic violence cuts in the UK, this is a must-buy for anyone interested. Supporting a good cause and maybe just finding a new favourite author at the same time? Sign me up.
I needed this book. With everything going on in the world, I needed this book.
The constant barrage of world leaders talking down to women, talking about women, making laws against women- it's too much. It feels like we have been left out of the conversation. The laws being made against women, mentally, physically, and spiritually, feel like a constant attack. That's why I needed this book.
GOOD HER HER: AN ANTHOLOGY OF WOMEN'S RAGE is more than I thought it would be. I went into it expecting one thing but came away from it feeling supported, heard, and understood. Yeah, there's a lot of rage it in, but there's also a lot of beauty in this anthology. Touching on themes of reproductive health, poverty, violence, and even masculinity, this anthology was really written for all of us.
I did have to pace myself going through this anthology because the stories felt too real, which I am grateful for. There were stories about gender roles and reproduction that really made me think about everything in my life, like TO LOVE AND OBEY. There were also stories that I completely plowed through because it felt so good to read, like BOSS BITCH. Every single story just hit home and that felt so good.
Firstly. thank you to Sarah Jules for giving me the opportunity to read this book pre- release.
Now I love a good horror anthology and wow this did not disappoint one bit.
Every single story contained within it such intense levels of emotions. I'm finding it hard to put it into words the feelings l had once I finished each story. I was filled with rage. fear, sadness. disgust and there were points where literally thought to myself 'good for her'. No matter how short the stories were. the impact they had was immense.
I really don't want to give too much away, this is a book to go into knowing as little as possible. But i can assure you, you won't be disappointed with the range of stories that are told
Through this book I have also discovered some new authors who l will definitely be checking out their other work in the future. The other great thing about this book is 100% of the profits are being donated to the charity 'Sisters Uncut' who support women and gender-variant people at risk of domestic violence.
If you like a horror anthology. if you like feminine rage. if you like revenge stories. then this book is definitely the one for you.

This book is a must read for any woman who is angry about aspects of the world we’re living in (I have yet to meet one who isn’t).
Thank you to Nefarious Bat for a copy of Good For Her. This anthology delivers 17 powerful stories - with proceeds raised going to Sisters Uncut - if you needed another reason to read this, well there you go.
This collection of stories brings women’s rage to the forefront in a raw and unflinching way. From horror to dystopia, supernatural to crime, we’re given an insight in to tales of trauma, injustice, revenge, and a reclamation of power. Every story grips, shocks, and resonates, leaving you satisfied, and often suitably shaken, long after the final page.
Good For Her is not just an anthology. It’s a rallying cry.
To start, this is a charity collection for Sisters Uncut which is an amazing group that offers support related to domestic violence. That being said, this is a well organized and emotionally charged collection that will leave an impression. Each story, whether ghostly, revenge or even mutation related is well thought out and shows these authors put their heart into their work. Some stories dwelled on rage or frustration while others echoed revenge or even the very fears that some people take for granted. No matter your type of story you like to read you will find each of these tales pulling you in.
This anthology is full of women indie horror authors. Some that I have heard of like MJ Mars, Sarah Jules, Leigh Kenny, Candace Nola Elizabeth J Brown, Megan Stockton and Hailey Piper. It also has female authors that I haven’t heard of like Lisa Hutchinson, TC Parker, Anna Orridge and a few others. This anthology features a diverse range of stories, including those about forced pregnancy, revenge, survival, motherhood, workplace issues, and unexpected events and more. This collection features female authors in indie horror, exploring themes of rage and fear across multiple genres, from supernatural to crime and more.
Review of “Good For Her: An Anthology of Women’s Rage”
Good For Her is a powerful and empowering collection of short stories that channels women's rage into unforgettable tales of revenge. Each story brings a fresh, bold take on justice—sometimes brutal, sometimes darkly satisfying, and always unapologetic. The variety of voices and creative twists make this a standout read for anyone who loves stories about women taking back their power. As a bonus, all profits go to Sisters Uncut, adding real-world impact to this fierce fictional ride.
In a time when the world seems to be taking steps backwards this book feels necessary. It’s full of stories ranging from pure rage to a nirvana like state.
Every tale has its own unique voice, a beautiful collaboration of women supporting women. Long, short, dreamlike poetry and angry prose; this book will make you mad but hopeful.
If you still aren’t convinced, 100% of the money raised is going to Sisters Uncut, a charity which supports women and gender variant people at risk of domestic violence.
This is a brilliant selection of stories that are very varied in topic, but all focus on women's rights, and the revenge and retribution when women are wronged. Its a wonderfully cathartic read, and there are some of the best known indie authors telling their tales. Plus with 100% of profits donated to Sisters Uncut, I highly recommend this book!
This anthology includes 17 dark short stories themed around feminine rage and revenge against injustice, and it was such a fun and satisfying read! A lot of great stories from authors I have read and loved, and some that are completely new to me. The best part is that all proceeds from the book go to benefit the organization Sisters Uncut! A great book and a great cause! 4.5⭐️
