A quick, love inspired Christian Fiction romance. Zane returns to his hometown and to the woman he never stopped loving....Molly. Molly lost her husband years ago as he was killed in the Army. She blames Zane for her husband ever going into the Army and to this day blames him for his death. She is not happy to see Zane again....it sets the stage for a book of regret, hope, grief, and rebuilding trust. I loved the moments between him and our main girl Molly's son, those were precious as I love a good single parent story.

Where I struggled a bit was with Molly’s long‑held resentment toward Zane. Her grief is real and understandable, but the way she blames him for her husband’s death felt more like misplaced anger than a fair reflection of what actually happened. Zane didn’t force her husband into the army, and at times her bitterness made it harder for me to connect with her as a character. Specifically where her anger went on for the majority of the book. Still, I could see what the author was aiming for, a woman wrestling with loss and learning to let go and let the Lord in....and by the end, it lands in a hopeful place of faith and new found love.

A good, quick love inspired read I enjoyed.

Thank you to the author for a copy of the book to honestly read and review, all thoughts are my own.

✨ mid-book review // pg. 95 ✨

almost halfway into the rancher’s stolen past, and i’m interested to see how all the drama plays out 👀

the last person single mom molly jacobs wanted to see, much less work with all summer, is zane kingsley. she can’t forgive him for the role he played in her husband’s death and would prefer if he just left her alone. unfortunately, the zane who returned to tamarack springs is not the same one who left, and he’s determined to make amends…

i’m sure this will be an uplifting story of forgiveness, but i’m really hoping molly doesn’t hang onto her anger for much longer… feelings aren’t always logical, yes, but holding zane solely responsible does seem a little overblown. i do enjoy a good second-chance though, and zane so desperately wants to prove that he’s changed. hopefully, her six-year-old son luke helps to soften her heart because the relationship that’s forming between him and zane is super cute; i’m really enjoying their moments together.

all in all, a solid start so far. the story’s set up for hope-filled growth and a sweet romance.

(is it embarrassing to admit I had some trouble figuring out exactly who the titular “rancher” is? zane’s on the cover and referred to as a “cowboy,” but it’s molly’s family that has the ranch…)

✨ final thoughts ✨

⭐️⭐️⭐️ (“liked it.”)

an overall sweet romance!

i will say that i sometimes have a hard time with romances where the characters knew each other years ago and are now reconnecting. so much of some of these romances tend to rely a past connection, overcoming past drama, without developing the present as much. and by the end of the rancher's stolen past, i wanted to see just a little bit more of the present-day justification of romantic feelings between molly and zane. still, it's heartwarming as they find their way to forgiveness and a second chance.

✨ considerations:
—language: none
—spice: kisses only
—faith: mentions of God and prayer
—content: mentions of loss of spouse/parent and past delinquency

Tabitha Bouldin takes us to fictional Tamarack Springs, North Carolina and introduces us to two broken characters who are in desperate need of forgiveness. Molly Peterson is a grieving widow raising her six-year-old son and carrying a huge burden; she can’t forgive the man she holds responsible for her husband’s death. Zane Kingsley is finding that coming home is more difficult than he imagined and earning Molly’s forgiveness seems impossible. He’s never had anyone who’d stand by his side, he’s struggling to make sense of his friend's attitude, and needs direction in dealing with his grandfather’s deteriorating health. Looking up at both of them for direction and understanding is Luke, a child who doesn’t know about their struggles. Can they put it behind them for his sake?

Points about forgiveness that I appreciated:
✔️Forgiveness shouldn’t come with conditions
✔️Don’t let the thief of joy into your heart
✔️Forgiveness is a daily choice

Bouldin explores the cowboy code, the struggle to trust, the depth of forgiveness, the need to apologize, and the chance at reconciliation.

What I’ll remember:
✔️“I haven’t always been there when you needed me. I’d like to change that.”
✔️Don’t “carry your failures around like trophies.”

I was gifted this copy and was under no obligation to provide a review.

The Rancher’s Stolen Past is the first book I have read written by Tabitha Bouldin. It brought a fun cowboy romance with faith elements.

Zane comes home to help take over his grandfather’s business. He keeps running into Molly, who blames Zane for the death of her husband. Her husband and Zane were best friends. Molly blames Zane for her husband's enlistment and ultimately death. Molly is now a single mother to her son Luke. Raising him on her own, she feels the weight of it all.

Zane finds himself helping at the summer riding camp alongside Molly. Luke is drawn to Zane, and Moly can’t seem to stay away from Zane. Slowly, Molly learns to forgive Zane and heal her heart as they work together at the ranch.

This forced proximity, second-chance romance was perfect and sweet, dripping with tension, with kisses only.

Seeking forgiveness for past misdeeds, asking others for their forgiveness, and granting forgiveness to others are just a few of the threads that tie the characters in this book together . . .

Molly Peterson is still grieving the loss of her husband, Brandon, six years after his death in a military action. She is working hard to move forward in her own life while raising her inquisitive, energetic young son, Luke.

Zane Kingsley, childhood friend of Molly and Brandon, has returned to town after many years to assist his elderly grandfather in his law office. He has matured from the troubled teen that created chaos in the small town in North Carolina to an experienced lawyer and man of faith.

Zane knew it wouldn't be easy to assimilate back into his former community, but I don't know if he predicted how difficult it would be to reestablish his rapport with Molly. When they were young, the three of them were best friends. When Brandon suddenly joined the military, Molly blamed Zane for encouraging the young husband and father to leave his family. Her angst toward Zane only grew after Brandon's death.

My heart ached for Zane time after time during the story as he tried to make amends with Molly only to be humiliated in front of other people and pushed even further out of her life. For the most part, Zane's heart remained set on his goal of gaining Molly's forgiveness. I felt like this character displayed courage each and every time he approached someone whom he had wronged in some way in the past.

Luke was a delight and brought humor and whimsy to the story. He also asked tough questions of his mother, Zane, and other characters in the story. As children often do, Luke immediately bonded with Zane after he found out Zane and Luke's father had been best friends.

A large family group, two active canines, lots of horses and equine care and training techniques along with a special riding school for children served to embellish the plot.

There is a faith thread running throughout this story, and the book is completely clean in language and content.

I received a copy of this book from the author through JustRead Publicity Tours. All of my thoughts and feelings shared here are solely my own.

The heart of The Rancher’s Stolen Past by Tabitha Bouldin lies in its portrayal of how unforgiveness can change a person. Molly has always been the sunshine in her family, but Zane’s return to her life completely strips it away. He wants and has asked for her forgiveness, but she blames him for her husband’s death. Molly believes that Zane talked Brandon into joining the Army which led to his untimely death. She thinks that this gives her permission to hold onto the anger she feels towards Zane. She knows that God commands us to forgive; however, Molly seems to think she gets a pass on this one.

Zane and Molly are thrown together as riding instructors for summer camp. It’s not what either of them expected to be doing, but having a few instructors quit at the last minute leaves the camp in a bind…which Molly and Zane can solve. Their forced proximity only solidifies the feelings Zane has had for Molly since high school…feelings he stuffed away when Brandon and Molly became close. Molly stubbornly holds on to that unforgiveness through much of the book. It not only hurts Zane, but as I mentioned, it changes Molly. When her family starts mentioning it to her, she begins to realize that holding on to that feeling allows her to keep a barrier between Zane and her. If the barrier comes down, she’ll have to acknowledge that she’s fallen for Zane.

I enjoyed this inspiring romance. Zane’s love for Molly really shows in how he treats her in spite of how she treats him. I loved Molly’s son, Luke. He was the typical little boy, and he craved a father’s love. This is a very quick read, and I recommend it to all of you who enjoy Love Inspired books!

The Rancher's Stolen Past by Tabitha Boulding is a great contemporary inspirational romance. This book is the third book in the series and I would definitely suggest reading the previous books so you can be familiar with the previous characters' relationships so there are no spoilers. I admit, when I started book two, I did not realize there was a book that came before it, and I still have not had a chance to read Callie and Brody's story. That said, each book is a stand alone story.

The connection between the books is the Jacobs siblings. Brody is the MMC in The Cowgirl's Last Rodeo, Tenley is the FMC in Forgiving the Cowboy (which I did read), and Molly is the FMC in this newest book. I love that we get to see these previous characters in the new book and get a peek into how their lives have been.

So, let's focus on The Rancher's Stolen Past. Zane has moved back to the town where he grew up. He's there so he can help his grandfather, but he also hopes to seek forgiveness from those he wronged as a young man. He had been friends with Brody and his sister Molly, but had left several years earlier. Molly is a widowed single mom of a young son, Luke. She has been blaming Zane for her husband's death all these years and just can't bring herself to forgive him.

As they find themselves working together at a summer riding program there is a lot of tension and Zane can't figure out what he needs to do to gain Molly's forgiveness and get her listen to the truth of what happened. I realize she has a lot to work through and not only will she have to forgive Zane, but she is also going to have to admit she was wrong, but she was quite bitter for most of the book. And there were times when it looked like they were growing closer, but the struggle for truth keeps them apart. I was really rooting for Zane though and wanted to see their relationship move beyond the past.

I have to say, my favorite character was little, six-year-old Luke. He was drawn to Zane right away, longing for a father figure in his life. He was such a cutie. This of course causes a conundrum for Molly as she really does not want Luke getting close to Zane.

I also loved the animals in the story. The dogs and the horses, and seeing the relationships between the children and the horses in the riding program.

And yes, faith played an important role in this story, which I always like to see. We see the importance of forgiveness and redemption. Here's a quote that caught my eye.

"'You once said that forgiveness is a daily choice. Some days are harder than others.' Brody spun his hat around in his hands, his overgrown hair sticking out over his ears. 'Day by day, little sister.'

Tenley rocked her hip against Molly's. 'That's my motto, especially when things get tough. Day by day, by the grace of God.'"

I highly recommend this book, and this series.

I received an e-copy of this book as a member of the launch team and was not required to write a favorable review. These are my own honest thoughts.

My favorite quote is
Granny thumped their way, her new cane tapping with every step. “Well, I’ll be a cat’s whisker. Look who’s finally stopped by.” She yanked Molly down for a neck-cracking embrace and patted her cheeks. “Good to see you, dear.”

“Granny, I was just here yesterday for work.”

“Well, sure. But that’s different.” Granny bent to tweak Luke’s nose. “Glad to have you in for a visit.”
I recommend this book.

Loved and Zane and Molly's story!! Zane and Molly were best friends, along with her deceased husband, Brandon. When Zane realized that Molly had fallen in love with Brandon and not him, he stepped back, and then he left town. Now, he's back to help his grandfather and take over the family law business. He also wants to ask forgiveness from ones he hurt, and show that he's changed. Molly hasn't forgiven Zane. She blames him for choices that Brandon made, and now that he's back, she faced with her grief and unforgiveness. The more time they are around each other, and the more she sees him interact with others, she realizes that she's been wrong, and that since she was wrong about a few things, she could be wrong about more. Zane knows that God has forgiven him and others have, too, though it's Molly's forgiveness he wants most of all. One of my favorite parts of the story is when Molly's son, Luke, asks Zane if he's a real cowboy, and Zane tells him he's not sure, since there are parts of the cowboy creed he hasn't always followed. Love how everything comes together!

This story was a page turner, from the moment I started it... I was hooked! I loved the instant tension between Zane and Molly. That level of tension just said different things about their feelings for each other way before they ready to admit it.

Zane comes back home to take over his grandfather’s business, knowing he will have to face Molly. They used to be close, but after her husband’s death (his best friend) which she blames him for, everything fell apart. He wants to explain himself and make things right, but Molly isn’t having it.

Molly’s son being drawn to Zane makes it almost impossible for them to avoid each other, which keeps pulling them back into each other’s space. It all is very confusing for Molly, part of her wants to push away from Zane and not forgive, but it may be her not wanting to admit her true feelings for Zane.

There’s a lot of yearning and unspoken feelings that made this such a great read. I loved the build up, but the admission of feelings and the first kiss didn’t quite land as well as the build up did for me. I just wanted a little more from that moment. Maybe it was the pacing... but that may just be me. All in all a great read!

I received a complimentary copy. This review reflects my honest opinion.

Such a lovely story of forgiveness and redemption! Childhood friends Molly and Zane were reacquainted when Zane returned to Tamarack Springs to help his grandfather with his law practice and make amends for past misdeeds. Molly held a huge grudge against Zane for what she believed was his role in her husband’s death. There were lots of wonderful characters mentioned in this book, but I had a hard time liking and connecting with Molly. She was described by relatives as being full of “sunshine” but it took a while for that to be revealed. I really liked Zane’s humility and steady personality which made him a compelling main character as he strove to make amends for past behaviors. The novel’s prevailing theme of forgiveness was inspiring as it impacted several characters. This is the third and last book in the series and can be read as a stand alone; however, now I am super curious to read the back stories of the other two couples.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author through a giveaway. A positive review was not required and these are my own and honest opinions.

Molly is a widow with a son who is deeply grieving her late husband. So much so that she has set all of her anger and blame on his best friend, Zane, due to the fact that she blames Zane for her husband signing up for the military. Her husband was killed while Zane never ended up going. Unfortunately, bitterness has taken root in her heart. I also found a conversation that she had with her father interesting when she told him that she was choosing to blame Zane instead of God. I really felt for Molly, however I really felt for Zane too.

Zane loves Molly. He was a bad boy growing up. He wishes that Molly's husband was still alive. However, he needs to come back to his hometown to help his grandfather. Not only that but he would like to make amends and if at all possible, win Molly and her son's hearts. A deeply moving story of letting go of bitterness and forgiving.

I was provided a copy of this novel from the author. I was not required to post a positive review, and all views and opinions are my own.

I really loved this slow burn of 2nd chances for Molly and Zane.
They are my favorite couple of this series. They were a delight in getting to know.
I loved every minute of this sweet story. I didn't want it to end.
I did my very best to savor this book but I enjoyed it so much that I quickly devoured it.
Horses are my most favorite animal.
I enjoyed going along on the trail rides with the kids.
There's a mystery too and that's what made me keep turning the pages to see what happened.
Secrets do have a way of coming out. You can't run from the past because it always comes back to haunt you.
I enjoyed this faith based journey of forgiveness and 2nd chances. No matter what we've done or didn't do, we all need forgiveness even if it's for our own peace of mind.
Can Molly and Zane find the love and peace they deserve?
You'll just have to pick up this wonderful story to find out.
5 stars for a job well done!

When it comes to a good read, there isn't much I love more than a book that can deliver so much tension that I feel it all the way to my bones! From the very first few pages, I found myself riveted to my seat, enjoying every moment between Zane and Molly. You can tell there is a lot of history there that buries some strong feelings!

Molly was a little harder to connect to because of my deep support for those who choose to join the military. Her blame of Zane was a little misplaced, but I also know that grief can cause such things!

But as life would have it, it throws a curveball for Molly when her son, Luke, develops a connection to Zane. I adored how it forced them to be in each other's world while fighting their feelings -- past and present.

Full of forgiveness, second chances, and a lot of humility, this book was such a delight. The storyline pulled me in, taking me on the trail rides, into the scenic moments, and most especially, the healing that helped everyone move forward.

The Rancher's Stolen Past is a moving story of forgiveness and reconciliation. Zane Kingsley has returned home to Tamarack Springs, North Carolina, to prove he is a changed man searching for forgiveness. For six years, Molly Jacobs has clung to the belief that Zane was responsible for her husband's death. Can they ever make peace with the past and find hope for the future? Although the plot unfolds a touch too slowly, I remained invested in the characters and enjoyed the journey it took me on. I especially appreciate the faith thread that takes an honest look at the challenges and rewards of forgiveness. It is a read well-worth your time. Note: This Is the third book in a series but can be read as a standalone. Reading the other two books first, however, will give you valuable background information and a better connection with the characters.

Another excellent book by Tabitha Bouldin!

Molly is rocking it as a single mom with a smile until Zane walks back into town.
Then she realizes her sunny disposition can’t compete with the anger and rage she’s buried toward Zane.

The Rancher's Stolen Past makes you look long and hard at your own heart. It’s all well and good to stay you believe in forgiveness, but are you able to actually do it when that person is wrong with you when you hear the whole story are you able to let that person change or do you still hold them in that spot Tabitha Bolden beautiful writing and storytelling brings about this journey with tenderness and grace and a few kicks in the pants. The Rancher's Stolen Past is book 3 in the series and you’ll want to read all to get a full picture of what so special about the Jacobs family

Such a good story! Once I started there was no putting it down. Author Tabitha Bouldin developed such good characters that I felt as if I knew them. Both Zane and Molly are dealing with past hurts that would be really difficult to hurdle. Zane feels abandoned and guilty. Molly is angry and grieving. Both need to move ahead and let God heal. But can they?

I loved the setting of the horse ranch and riding program. And Molly’s son, Luke, added the icing on top. He’s enamoured with cowboys so takes to Zane immediately. Which makes Molly very unhappy. But he was such an enjoyable addition to the story, as were the secondary characters. You’ll love Granny!

A book of second chances and redemption, I highly recommend it.

This book was full of emotional moments. I loved how the theme of forgiveness was woven throughout the story. "Forgiveness shouldn't come with conditions. It's all or nothing. I can't let myself hold a grudge. It's too painful."

I am so glad Zane could find a place where he belonged and that Molly was finally able to forgive him and open her heart. It truly was an inspirational story.
I am sad this is the last book in this series, but I will remember the characters, and I can revisit their stories whenever I want. I received an advance copy of this book, and I willingly chose to write an honest review.

Molly, Brandon and Zane used to be best friends. They did everything together, then when Molly and Brandon got married and were expecting a baby Zane left.

Zane was a bit wild and reckless and got in some trouble so his Grandfather wanted him to join the army to straighten him out. When Zane told Brandon about it and stated that he wasn't going, Brandon decided he was.

I really enjoyed the book and this is the first one that I have read by this author, and it will certainly not be the last one.

When you are hurting, can y ou forgive those that hurt you? Are you open to the truth, or only what you believe to be the truth? When Zane returns to town, these are the exact questions Molly has to face up to in The Rancher's Stolen Past by Tabitha Bouldin.
Book #3 of a series, this book features horses, great characters, faith building story lines and-of course-romance. My favorite thing about it was the reminder that our pain does NOT give us the right to hurt others and one of the characters' mottos: When the going gets tough, it's day by day, by the grace of God.

Very sweet story about the power of forgiveness and the beauty of humility and second chances.

Enjoyed the family relationships, sibling dynamics, and the complicated history between the main male and female characters. I love secrets and second chances ... especially between people who used to be best friends.

Highly recommend if you're looking for a safe, wholesome, enjoyable love story with some serious wisdom sprinkled throughout.

The Rancher’s Stolen Past by Tabitha Bouldin is a sweet story about forgiveness and redemption. I liked the characters, especially Zane. Zane is not the same rebellious teen who left town many years ago. He wishes to apologize for his past misdeeds and seeks forgiveness. He is hoping Molly Jacobs will be willing to listen to him. The story shows that forgiveness benefits more than just the one who gives it. Molly’s son, Luke is adorable. Kids have a wonderful way at looking at life. Zane’s grandfather is a delight, and he adds humor to the story. I like the thread of faith woven throughout the story. There is chemistry between Zane and Molly, but it will take time for romance to bloom. The narrative concludes with a well-executed and fulfilling resolution. I do believe I would have benefited from reading the first two books in the series (Forgiving the Cowboy and The Cowgirl’s Last Rodeo). The Rancher’s Stolen Past is an inspiring story with unresolved rage, a curious child, horse riding, a chaotic office, a blue building for a bakery, and finding forgiveness.

THE RANCHER’S STOLEN PAST by Tabitha Bouldin is the fabulous story of Zane Kingsley and Molly Jacobs. They will have to maneuver through the past in order to work together at a summer riding program for kids. In the process, they may even learn to forgive and move forward – together.

Zane was a troubled kid. Abandoned by his parents - left for Gramps to raise. When he wasn’t in trouble, he was looking for it. Without Gramps, he hates to think how his life might have turned out. He finally grew up, worked hard, graduated law school and went into criminal law. He’s now back in Tamarack Springs to help his Gramps at his law firm with plans to eventually take over his general practice. He’s also wants to work with the youth, helping kids that are like he was, preventing them from going astray.

Molly became a wife, widow and a mother within the space of one year. Shortly after marrying, Brandon joined the military. He was killed before returning home. His death was something she blamed Zane for. He’s the one that put the idea into Brandon’s head to join and then he backed out. Just like him–start trouble, and in this case cause great heartache, and then cut and run. Luke, her 6-year-old son, is her pride and joy. Working several jobs to get by while trying to save as much as possible. Molly’s dream is to open a bakery. She’s even picked out the building for it. So far, it’s still a dream. She’s agreed to work in the kitchen at Wells Riding Academy summer program for both income and knowing Luke would greatly enjoy program.

Molly never dreamed that Zane would move back to town much less volunteer at the same riding summer program. At least she won’t be working in the same area as him – until plans change. Can they work together for the benefit of the kids? Will Molly get the chance to confront Zane about Brandon? How can Molly prevent her son from getting attached to Zane? Will Zane be able to show Molly how much he’s changed? With each carrying so much pain, can they manage to let it go and to see the actual truths? Is it possible for them to be friends again?

THE RANCHER’S STOLEN PAST is a phenomenal book proving that while past hurts can weigh one down, the truth and forgiveness can set one free. It’s a book you will find impossible to put down and one that will touch your heart. Tabitha Bouldin gives us a story of friendship, loss, grief, forgiveness, romance, redemption and wraps it in a wonderful thread of faith. THE RANCHER’S STOLEN PAST is FIVE-STAR reading at its best and I highly recommend it!

Zane comes home to support his family and work on the ranch, doing so brings him face to face with his best friend's widow. Molly is hesitant to trust Zane, but her young son has fallen in love with riding, so she agrees to work with Zane to pay for her son's riding lessons. Can a shared past, help heal their future?

A heartwarming read, with likable characters and good interaction. I liked how Zane and Molly reconnected and rekindled their friendship after many years apart. Luke is a smart young boy, I liked how he and Zane bonded over Luke's father and the horses.

Both Zane and Molly are Christians, but are challenged to grow in their faith. I really liked the ranch setting, and how wonderful and supportive Molly's family is.

Overall, a heartwarming romance, with strong characters, a cute kid, and an engaging plot. A faith filled read, full of friendship, healing, family, and giving love a chance.
