A good girl gone bad? Not exactly the case with Nikkia Miles. She just had to find things out the hard way. Nikkia came from a good family, was raised in the suburbs of Fox Hill, & had a promising future ahead of her. Dark ebony eyes full of kindness. An irresistible personality. Sweet natured. A beautiful mind with a mane of wild curls. Nikkia was a good girl…she just made some bad decisions. Dre Carter, the new kid with the bad reputation, had stolen her innocent heart. While Nikkia paid no attention to her parents’ warning, she gave up her dreams, goals, aspirations and life as she had known it. She clung to the silly belief that love was all she & Dre needed to survive Hell’s Hood. Dre, however, could not resist the allure of the drug game or the quick money. As his power grew, Nikkia realized she had lost him, a piece of her heart, and herself. Leaving Dre had been a difficult decision but a necessary one. Nikkia had a daughter to think of. What kind of example was she setting if she stayed in an abusive relationship? No, she could do bad on her own. Life was a struggle and surely not what she had expected. With a little luck, she managed to get back on track. She was making it. Then the devil walked in & introduced himself as Tavius Jones. Tavius was a successful businessman; to Nikkia, he appeared larger than life. He talked oh so sweet, courted her & showed Nikkia all the finer things life had to offer. Tavius would soon reveal his true nature…deadly. When the smoke cleared, Nikkia had nowhere to go. Matt Collins, a former marine with a cabin near the mountains, offers her sanctuary & personal protection. Slowly he chips away at the hard layers Nikkia had built around her heart. Matt opens her mind to the possibility of loving again despite their obvious differences. He shows her nothing but adoration, affection, acceptance and what it is to feel cherished. It seems as though her twice-broken heart is mending. It seems like she’s ready...
Great job! I enjoyed this read with minor errors. Nikkia had her life all planned out before meeting Dre. I was a little upset with her parents with how they treated her though. Nikkia had to learn the hard way just who Dre truly was. Once getting herself together she met Tavius and I thought for sure he would be the one. Mr. Michaels was a major help and stepped in to help Nikkia in more ways than one. Alright Matt! I actually liked how he stepped in to help Nikkia and glad they were able to form a relationship. As far as Mrs. Miles, that chick truly was something else and couldn't believe she still had some slick things to say. I'm hoping Matt won't hurt Nikkia but the information at the end had me like whoa. I'm ready for part 2 though! Where's Dre, what is Tavius plotting, should Nikkia be worried, and is Matt's reason for not revealing his real occupation justifiable?!
I enjoyed this read. I liked and disliked the Nikkia's character.I liked that she was smart and very strong, and when it came to decisions about her kids, she mad the right ones. What I didn't like was some of her choices in men, and how quick she was to fall. Both Dre and Tavius had me fooled. Neither were what they appeared to be. I love the characters of her landlords and the Michael's, it's nice to know there are good people left in the world. I despised her parents, and I love Matt, I just hope he doesn't disappoint me in the next installment. All in all, this was easy to get into, pretty good editing, and a cool read. The only thing I disliked was how quick certain scenes were. I would definitely recommend
The first page held your attention I could g wait to find out what had Kia over it and Matt .. Dre and Kia relationship was cute in the beginning I liked how he sought her and needed help but like all relationships they had their problems . I side eyed her parents when they wasn't their for her .. Her relationship with Tavis was rushed and she didn't know him .. Hopefully she can look past the mishap with Matt and live happily ever after I'm anxious to see what happens ..
I really enjoyed reading this book. I was disappointed with the way Nikkia's parents treated her. It took a few years but they eventually came around. Nikkia's choice in men was also questionable until she met Matt. He was everything she wanted in a man, but he had a secret.
I can't believe you left the ending like that. Not even a hint that this would be a series book.....ugggghhhhh!!!!!!There were some typo's and missing and misplaced words but all in all a pretty good story
This is a really great grown-up love story, about the choices we make and the steps we take to correct the mistakes. The writer has a good command of the story, that it doesn't get away from the mystery or the romance.A very good solid read.
Nikkia is a very hot tempered being. She needs to stop sometime and think before she reacts. This was a good book. Nice job Heather Rae, can't wait for the next one....
Felt that you could read and get right into the thick of the characaters. Was upset that the parents gave up on their only daughter when they found out she was pregnant. Overall a great read and will be reading part 2.
Just shows you that the third time is the charm. It took going through two losers to a good dependable man that can love you and your children. Well worth the read.
