Living in Melbourne it's interesting to see early Melbourne, and I LOVE the close ups. The 'ghosts' of people (those who move when the photo is taken), pets (lots of pups!), a few women, but mainly men. The condition of the streets, the urinals in the middle of the road, PARKING in the middle of the road, a flooded Flinders Street, and ratting - for entertainment, apparently - eek! (no photos thank goodness, it's just the IDEA of it).
Also interesting, the clothes (hats), shop fronts and what they put out to show customers (includes carcasses). Oh, and the neatly piled horse poo along the road for pick up. Imagine the pong!
Some familiar buildings that remain today, and those that have been lost to time, like most of the people in the photos, lost to time.
