With a background similar to the author’s, I found Predator Proof to be an important reminder that everyone, women and men alike, needs to stay aware of their surroundings.

The book highlights realities that many women face daily, often without others realising. I was reminded of an incident where a man out running tried to pass a woman ahead of him; each time he sped up, she did too. It wasn’t until he recognised that she thought he was chasing her that he backed off and changed his route.

That small moment of awareness made a huge difference and this book can help more men understand how their behaviour, even unintentional, can impact women’s sense of safety.

Thought-provoking and practical, it’s a valuable read for everyone.

I bought a copy of this at Jo‘s book launch earlier this year. From start to end the book is accessible, grounded in evidence, full of practical knowledge, tips, and strategies gained through professional experiences as a former police officer. I have recommended this book to a number of universities to promote the safety and well-being of all students whilst on campus.

This genuinely feels like a book every woman should read before she needs it. If you’ve ever ignored your gut feeling to avoid awkwardness, this book will politely and firmly, tell you to stop doing that. Your safety > everything else
