I want to thank Liz Isaacson, author and Kindle Unlimited Program for the eBook Kindle copy of His Second Chance: A Hammond Family Farm Novel ~ Ivory Peaks ~ Book 2 that I borrowed.

Matt and Gloria are from a small town in Wyoming and they have a history from twenty years earlier to overcome, plus they have the demands of busy everyday life working together on the Hammond Family Farm. Add Matt's two children and his younger brother and his daughter moving to the ranch and Gloria and Matt find it hard to find time for each other. Lack of communication and keeping deep feelings to themselves adds another layer of problems. The ending is sweet and one that I loved with the thoughtfulness on both main character's part.

His Second Chance is a story of a renewal of an old love. You can feel the hesitation in both Matt and Gloria after 20 years of being apart. Matt had married and had two children and found out that his wife was addicted to alcohol and put the children in danger. So Matt divorced her and got custody of both children and dropped her off at the rehab center as he left Montana. She has never contacted the family in almost 2 years. Matt is educated in agriculture and works with the crops.
Gloria worked with her father on his farm and being the only child was expecting the farm to come to her at his death. He had hired a cowboy named Ender to help on the farm and Gloria fell for him. They were engaged but her father died and she found that at the reading of the will the father left it all to Ender. She took him to court to sue for the farm and unfortunately lost. So she left Montana in her rearview mirror. By accident she ran into Matt and was hired onto the Hammond's farm. She is a great horse trainer and works with Pony Power.
When they finally start dating all is not hunky dory. Jealousy on Gloria's side causes her to ask to "take a break" which causes hurt for both Matt and Gloria. But, Matt has a lot on his plate with trying to control a "hormonal" teenager and a young daughter suffering from fetal alcohol syndrome which requires a lot of therapy and now his brother Boone and his daughter Gertie has come there to work in hopes that being with family will heal his broken heart. Not everybody can be number 1 on Matt's list everyday. Even Matt needs help with handling all these problems and thinks that he and Gloria could handle more together than just Matt alone.

His Second Chance: A Hammond Family Farm Novel: Ivory Peaks Romance Book 2 is by Liz Isaacson. This is an intriguing book that keeps adding problems throughout the book.
Matthew Whettstein had moved from Montana to the Hammond farm when he put his wife in an asylum for her drinking. He moved his two children, Keith and Britt, away from her to protect them. At fourteen, Keith wasn’t thrilled about the move; but he had made friends and was relatively happy now. Britt just accepted the move. Britt wasn’t quite all right; but Ben couldn’t see past his child not being quite right. He had her re-diagnosed and the doctor said it was a case of fetal alcohol syndrome that wasn’t introduced until after the first trimester so it was a light case. He began getting her help in school and at the farm and she began doing better. Keith was going through his teens normally. He was getting ready to turn 16 and was ready for a car. Meanwhile, he was discovering girls! Matt was racing to keep up with both his kids and to try to romance Grace from the farm.
Grace worked at training the horses for Pony Power Equine Therapy. She worked closely with Molly Hammond and the horses to provide horse riding for impaired children. Grace and Matt had been high school sweethearts who broke up and went separate ways. The Hammonds brought them back together. A romance seems to be building; but only if the kids would agree. Matt was afraid to ask them.
The more you get into the book, the more intense and mixed-up it became. Unravelling it was fun.

This is a GREAT book, it is clean, I believe it can be read alone, though you will enjoy it so much more if you read Molly and Hunter's story first, but I do not think it is necessary. So this is Matt and Gloria, they work on a farm that does horse therapy for children. They both have broken pasts, they dated 20 years ago as teens. We are not give a LOT of details about it, but they have a history. Matt has two kids, and they play into the story a lot. I found this a really great book that swept me in immediately and I became so invested in the characters, I struggled to put it down, I wanted to see how this would resolve. This is a continuation of the Hammond brothers series, but it is not at all necessary to read those first. BUT they are wonderful too!! I was thrilled for this book to come out and cannot wait to read about Matt's brother Boone, who were introduced to in this book. BUT there was not a cliff hanger, just a tease into the side characters of this book. I recommend this book and this author to anyone who like clean romance with sweet cowboys!!

I didn’t realize how much I was missing the Hammonds until I dived into this book and was surrounded by them again. Matt may not be a Hammond, but he has the same strength and nobility, and has been working for and with them for long enough to have been absorbed into the family. I loved that his and Gloria’s story was a second chance and the way it showed that there’s no time limit on love or on doing, being, better than you were before. I think perhaps my favorite part about this author’s work is how every series becomes a sweeping, multi-generational family saga. It introduces us to the leading characters of the books to come, and sets the stage for the challenges they’ll have to overcome. I can’t wait to see where the author takes us next.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author.

Liz Isaacson novels, and the world she builds with her words, are such a beautiful escape. A piece of Liz Isaacson’s charm in her writing is getting a sneak peek at future main characters. I love that side characters get a chapter or two, so readers can feel connected to and already begin rooting for the next couple to make their romance work.

In this second “Ivory Peaks” installment, we witness and second chance romance. Matt and Gloria dated decades ago and recently found each other again at work with several life changes. The focus of them being friends first as they each healed from past hurts was a beautiful example of a healthy relationship. Matthew’s parenting techniques with Keith, a growing teenage boy, and Britt, an elementary-aged girl with movement and speech disabilities, are realistic and encouraging. No one’s perfect, but all the characters want to grow and do better.

Matt and Gloria dated twenty years ago. Gloria went on to get cheated out of her inheritance by a smooth talker. Matt fell in love got married and had two children. When his wife’s drinking problem endangered their daughter he had had enough. Now both Matt and Gloria work for the Hammonds and the old spark is still there. A scene I loved in the book was at Hunter and Molly’s wedding when his father, uncles and cousins danced down the aisle. This is a very enjoyable book that has not only the Matt and Gloria romance but also has snippets of the Hammonds lives too.

I was given this advanced copy for free, and am leaving this review voluntarily.

Such a fun and unique wedding scene! I loved it. I loved learning more about the running of HMC. I liked the journey Brit is on, the equine program, the teenagers in this story, the troubled backstories of what our mains have gone through… and so much more! I simply love these characters and all of the ones we grew to love in past series. One big huge family that is ever growing. I absolutely cannot wait for the next book!! One of my favorite, albeit heartbreaking, backgrounds for a heroine. Ah! It better come quickly!!

I received an ARC of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Oh, my, it is a good thing the characters (and author) can’t hear me yelling at them. Both Matt and Gloria were so busy protecting themselves or others they forgot each other. I loved this book. Liz Isaacson so accurately portrayed the dynamics of being a single parent and being part of a larger family group. Matt is so busy trying to be the parent his children need, the brother Boone needs and the employee that the Hammonds need, he forgets that Gloria needs a place toward the front too. Gloria forgets to speak up and let her needs and wants be known. Thank heavens Boone and Keith wake them up. I look forward to Boone and Cosette’s story.

Matt's 1st Priority is his 2 children; Can Gloria learn to ❤️ them too?

Both Gloria & Matt carry major Trust Issues, from a past heartbreaking Relationship. Can Matt have a 2nd Chance at a Lifetime 💗? Can Gloria learn to Trust a man's 💗, with God's help?

They dated many years ago, back in their hometown. See how God heals each of their hearts, & gives their 💗 a 2nd Chance; in Liz Isaacson's Engrossing, Inspiring, Western Romance, "His Second Chance". I ❤️ed that LI shows how God can heal broken hearts, & create a new Family. I Highly Recommend You 📖 This Outstanding 💎, to find out how rollerblading fits in the Story. ❤️📖 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Second chances pays off

I love a good Christian contemporary cowboy romance stories based in Texas, Wyoming, Colorado and Montana where you find working horse and cattle ranches along with those single dad's and their great kids.

Falling in love again is not easy for them especially when it comes to Matt's heart and the well-being of Keith and Britt. But Gloria has lost everything, she's broke and despite for a job. Can Gloria and Matt work together long enough to rekindle their love?

What's there not to love about this author and her forever love stories. This is why I give this story ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐. Happy reading!

Gloria and Matt knew each other years ago but broke up as they were too immature then. Now they're both in the same place again, changed people, Matt is divorced from his alcoholic wife and Gloria was let down by her ex-fiance and her father.
Ivory Peaks is home to the Hammonds, whom Gloria and Matt both work for, she helps run and set up the equinine therapy, which Matt's daughter is able to take advantage of.
Lots of misunderstandings and family time get in the way of their HEA.

Another great read from Liz

Generations Continue

We are following Matt's Life and family more than Hunter. At this at this time And I have 1 wondered that is how the first book was about why are we following Matts. I expect if molly gets pregnant Hunter will be back in full force. Matt and Gloria Barely make ends meet now they don't live on farm and both are super employees they apparently need better pay. Their shortness in pay is mentioned a couple of times. Hunter and family are billionaires, I'd think he most valued employees would be paid more

What a great story of love and giving others more than one chance. We all don’t get everything right on the first try. We all have to learn and try again, especially on things that hard for us. What is hard for one person is not always hard for the next person. That is not saying to let someone take advantage of you over and over. If they are honestly trying their best to do and be better than give them a chance to prove that they are a better person then they were.

Such a beautiful story of forgiveness

The Hammond’s have been one of my favorite storylines for a long time now. This book incorporated a newer family in to the Hammond Farm - Matt, Keith and Britt who were in Book 1 of this younger Hammond Children series. Matt starts to renew his relationship with Gloria from 20 years ago and they have a lot of things to work out but the biggest thing of all is forgiveness.

Good People.

If you want to feel better after you read a book, then you should read this! Good people trying to do their best and finding love when they've lost a little bit of hope for their future! I love the multi generational interactions and showing how one generation builds on another!! This year has been hard and I simply can not read about anything discordant and chaotic anymore! Thanks for a soul satisfying read.

Another great story by Liz Isaacson. Wonderful characters including all the Hammonds. Matt and Gloria both have a lot to deal with, both from their pasts and their present issues. Britt is an amazing girl who is bravely struggling with her medical problems. Hunter’s wedding scene is hilarious. I really loved it. This book is a very enjoyable story.

Hard Topics Dealt With Graciously

Liz Isaacson doesn't shy away from dealing with real-life hard topics. The characters deal with their issues, and we're there right along with them. We see the effects of alcoholism, divorce, injustice, and death of a beloved spouse. The romance is clean, sweet, and not without problems. It's a good series, set in beautiful Colorado, and on a ranch. The book has a happy ending, so I was happy, too.

Follow the Rules of LIFE

Matt, and Gloria both had terrible beginnings soothing didn't work out the first time through. Both needed time to mature and learn to forgive. As they got older they learned the rules of life and so were able to make it work the second time around. Got a little lost at times with different family members and what purpose they served at this point in the story. For the most part I really enjoyed the book.

A story that has characters that are well described and a story line that goes into all the different nuances of second chance relationships. Matt and Gloria were dating during their teens. Now they’re both starting over, Matt has divorced and Gloria has begun a new life after the loss of her father and the ranch. There are many difficulties that need to be overcome when they decide to renew their relationship, don’t miss out!

Another great cowboy romance

Another great cowboy romance by Liz Isaacson. I loved how real her characters are and how easy they are to relate to. I loved the real-time portrayal of teenage issues and the difficulties of a second marriage.

There are no swears or alcohol and level 1 non-descriptive kisses only. Dual POV with a few chapters in the POV of different characters who will have or have had their stories told.

love this story of Matt and Gloria and how they have a second chance to be together. I loved seeing how Britt was getting stronger and how Keith was falling in love. I really enjoyed all the other people in the book, and how they built such a great support group with just about everyone!
( I received an arc copy of this book from the author. This review is completely my own opinion.)

I had an Advance Readers Copy of this book, but this is my voluntary and honest opinion. This is another great book in this series by Liz Isaacson. Second chances, trust and putting others first, plus problems caused by alcoholism, and an equine youth program are all part of the plot of this book. I enjoyed seeing characters from the other book in this series, and the Whiskey Mountain series.

I loved this second chance love story. After 20 years Matt and Gloria met at the farm owned by Hammond family. Matt divorced with two children in his custody and Gloria jilted of her inheritance by her own father (this I couldn't believed leaving his will to the fiance of his daughter). They both tried not to get involved but I was happy that they figured out they needed each other.

Matt and Gloria

I loved reading as Matt and Gloria got reacquainted. It was touching how much Gloria loved Matt’s children. I like how Matt and Gloria’s relationship had to grow and blossom although they had known each other before. I liked how Keith and Britt were an integral part of the story.

whew! I didn’t know if they would make it

Matt has a lot of responsibilities with raising kids, managing the farm, and loving Gloria. Gloria has lost her family and home and finds herself at the Hammond Farm where she gets a job as a horse trainer. There she rekindles her love for Matt.

Another great story in this series.

This is such a wonderful story. I love seeing Matt and Gloria find their happily ever after. Of course, it was not an easy path but with patience, love and faith they were able to overcome those difficulties. I really enjoyed this story and am excited for the next in the series. I love how the story flowed and it kept me wanting to read, not putting it down. Highly recommend this book.
