Dane and Bones are back with a bang. I love these origin novellas, just long enough to enjoy in a day and become immersed in the Maddock universe. This book has all you expect from David Wood....action, humour, bad guys that deserve their comeuppance and mixed with a great narrative of the story. This book is co-authored with Rick Chesler and I think their writing styles really blend well together.
Did you ever wonder what happened to Amelia Earhart and her Electra aircraft? Dane and Bones are sent on a secret mission to find it and more. They find a mysterious island, many really bad guys and a really well trained shark. Don't miss the adventure and fun! This is a wonderful book!
This was another great read from this author. Dane and Bones never fail to enthral and thrill. This Origins series is great because it allows us to see how these two characters got together and how their friendship bond started. This time they were sent to find Amelia Earhart’s Electra plane and “rescue” bio weapons and photos she was carrying. A lot of thrilling events and the obligatory mercenary forces who try to prevent them from doing so. I just can’t get enough of these two!
A tiny island, an historic mystery, two SEALS. What could go wrong? With Maddock and Bones . . . everything.
Not quite James Bond, not Indiana Jones, our intrepid duo are going to be risking their lives almost from the opening page. Lots of suspense. And lots of fun.
I really enjoy the plot and how the action unfolds. Starting to get tired of the two main characters and how they interact. A bit too ho-hum more of the same banter as the other books in the franchise. Still I would recommend it to escape ...
Despite some poor editing this was one of the better books as far as the storyline. I appreciated the humor and action, but I thought it fell short of five stars.
Electra is an adventure story by David Wood starring Navy Seals Dane Maddock and Uriah “Bones” Bonebrake.
Dane and Bones are at it again, trying to beat a couple of dolphins in a training exercise. Oh, wait, the story is about finding Amelia Earhart’s plane. Our guys are sent undercover to dive for a company that rescues historic aircraft and thinks they have found Earhart’s plane. It’s underwater close to an atoll in the South Pacific. The mission is to confirm if the plane is, in fact, Earhart’s. The reason is because there may be sensitive government items on the plane. One problem, a Japanese company has tried to claim the atoll to build a resort. They were not happy about losing a lawsuit to gain ownership. They take steps to aggressively try to take the atoll.
Filled with humor, conspiracy theories, and action, this story is very entertaining. It’s kind of a lightweight story, but that’s OK, we need those sometimes. The interaction between Dane and Bones is fun and lighthearted but they do get serious when needed. Read it for a little fun. You’ll like it.
Action, adventure, mystery, conspiracy, explosions, treasure, navy seals, scuba diving, planes, boats, dolphins but no kissing.
It was a refreshing change from all the chick lit I've been reading lately. An exciting tale full of twists and turns. I got caught up in the story and devoured the book in a day.
This is the sixth book in the series, but the first one I have read. It stood up well on its own and I didn't feel like I was missing any vital information. I listened to the audiobook edition which I received free in exchange for an honest review. The narrator was fabulous. He spoke clearly and at a good pace. Jeffrey Kafer's narration was well suited to the book, expressive and deep, without being all "Barry White" come hither.
In this book Maddock and Bones are diving for Amelia Erharths lost plane. It is a little bit weird that I like these books as much as I do, but I think they are a kind of guilty pleasure. Also, they are potato chips books, as in you always want one more. The characters of Maddock and Bones are very, very stereotypical ex navy seals, and somewhat one dimensional. Each book is based on a historical myth, and they are sometimes a little bit repetitive. But the action and adventure is great and very fast paced, and the books are enjoyable.
Who doesn't love an old mystery? Who doesn't want to know what happened to Emelia Earhart? How can someone and their plane simply disappear and even today with all our modern technology...... still no answers.
Dane and Bones are called to go undercover as part of a dive team to determine if an Electra plane found off an island is really that of Earhart. Of course, nothing is simple when Dane and Bones are involved.
Is everyone on the dive team on the up and up? Pirates? What is the secret discovered on the plane?
I believe that this is the best of the Origins books.
Can't get enough of Dane and Bones. Wonderful series.
This is the sixth book in the Dane and Bones Origin series and by far the best one yet. It has the perfect blend of historical mystery and action. David Wood and Rick Chesler did a great job of drawing you into the mystery behind the disappearance of Amelia Earhart. Electra also continues to explore the development of Dane and Bones eventually friendship. It is great to watch them on this journey. If you like historical intrique, underwater adventure and plenty of action, I highly recommend Electra and all of the Dane and Bones novels.
Dane and Bones are at it again, in another Origins book. Has Amelia Earharts plane finally been found? It would appear so...Dane and Bones are tasked with infiltrating the salvage team to confiscate items that could be damaging to the US. As usual nothing goes easy for them! Set in the South Pacific Dane and Bones handle all the ups and downs of their adventure with the usual wise cracking humor.
Another home run for David Wood, these books just whet your appetite and make you want more and more and more...
I enjoyed this book, but I have to say, not quite as much as Hell Ship. I particularly enjoy the relationship between Maddock and Bones. Their teamwork, resourcefulness and can-do attitude help propel the story along. I love that these guys are as much about brains as they are about brawn. One caveat: I read this as a before-editing beta-read, and I found quite a few editorial errors. However, David is always very gracious about receiving information like this, and I'm certain he would not release the final version until all the errors were correct.
I really loved the plot for this one. Basically anything involving Amelia Earhart pulls me right in. The true story is such a mystery that it lends itself to a Dane and Bones origin story. I really enjoyed seeing the guys deal with their undercover mission. Tons of humor comes out of their struggles. The authors did a great job with the setting, as I could imagine each and every aspect of the story vividly.
This is the sixth book in the Origins series and I have to say it is certainly one of the best. Dane and Bones are up to their usual tricks stating off trying to outwit a couple of Dolphins then the search is on for Amelia Earhart's lost plane and the action pace and banter increase> well written read mixing enough action adventure and historical references to keep everyone happy.
Book six has Dane and Bones involved as undercover agents of the government working with a team of civilians who have been hired to validate the find/wreckage of Amelia Earhart's plane. There's plenty of expected and unexpected twists and turns, danger and a new spin on what exactly happened all those years ago. Conspiracy at it's best! I love these characters and so will you!
The 6th book in the Dane and Bones Origins series, sees the boys sent on a secret mission to remove sensitive items from the long lost plane of Amelia Earhart. This is a good book, that moves at a nice pace. It does not really offer any real new insights into Dane and Bones, but is worth a read just as an adventure story.
I always enjoy the adventures and interplay between the two main characters of this series and this story was no different. A search for life threatening items leads them to join an expedition whose goal is to find Amelia Earhart's lost plane....then the fun begins!
Short but exciting read. Lots of humourous banter between Maddock and Bones, and an interesting story. I'm very much enjoying these early adventures of the duo.
*I was given an advance copy by the author in exchange for an honest review*
Fantastic undersea adventure featuring two of my favorite heroes doing what they do best: finding historical treasures and fighting off bad guys. For more detail on Electra, please check out out my full blog review at Michael Dunne - Writes!
As with the other Dane and Bones stories, I enjoyed this one too. Easy to read and full of adventure. The stunts they pull off were believable with a lot of luck thrown in. And, my most favorite part was the end, I'm not giving it away but it was interesting.
The storyline was interesting. Earhart stories always are. Bone and Dane are fun and keep things exciting. Perhaps the plot is a little farfetched. I enjoy these stories without profanity but wish they were longer.
A very creative story with enough detail and background to be interesting and believable but not too much to bog down the story and sap the excitement. I'll look for more by these writers.
