The chocolate is melting, the ovens are heating up, and Ginny Malone is about to discover that some suppliers deliver more than just ingredients...
Life in Moonstone Bay is finally hitting its stride for Ginny Malone and her feisty cat Shortcake. Her bakery is thriving, her coastal bungalow is slowly becoming home, and her relationships with grumpy-but-lovable P.I. Vince Rinaldi and hammer-wielding best friend Lois are deepening. Even her talented baker James seems to have found his groove—until a heated argument with a sketchy supplier turns deadly.
When the supplier's body is dumped outside Ginny's bakery, James becomes the prime suspect. But Ginny knows her gentle employee couldn't hurt a fly. As she and Vince dig into the victim's shady business dealings, they uncover secrets that someone is willing to kill to protect.
Between perfecting new recipes and keeping her bakery running, Ginny must race to clear James's name before the real killer strikes again. But when the investigation heats up, Ginny and her friends find themselves in more danger than they bargained for.
With teamwork, determination, and maybe just a pinch of luck, can Ginny serve up justice before her sweet life in Moonstone Bay turns permanently sour?
Author Nova Walsh writes culinary cozy mysteries full of humor, shenanigans, and friendships that last a lifetime. She mixes in a healthy dose of amateur sleuthing, some slow-burn romance, and a pinch of comedy in every book she writes. Nova is a former chef/caterer who still loves to cook but loves to write even more. She’s an enthusiastic, if not totally successful gardener who loves travel, wine, and hanging out with friends. Nova grew up in the southwest, and now lives in Galveston, Texas, with her husband, son, and dogs. When she isn’t writing, she’s often cooking, spending time with family, or reading a good book with a pup by her side.
I am enjoying this small town cozy mystery series quite a lot. I like the budding relationship between Ginny and Vince. And another possible get together between Lois and James. I guess we'll see how it all works out very soon.
Although it's more fun to read this series beginning with book 1 and then going in numerical order, this book can be read as a standalone. It is Rated G as far as subject matter and language, so anyone can enjoy. Oh! Except the murder.
Perhaps if you're thinking of allowing a child to read these, be sure to read them yourself first to make sure they're ok for that age group. The murder scenes are not graphic or descriptive, so if you feel those parts are fine, then you'll feel the whole book is fine too.
Alright, onto the next book! See you in my next review!
I am loving the Moonstone Bakery Mystery Series. Nova Walsh you are definitely a great story teller. The characters are wonderful. You are making me want to live in this small town of Moonstone Bay. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.
Loved this book. Great read. The trio comes together again to help solve multiple crimes. I loved the history of the area as well as an introduction of a new character. Can’t wait for the next one.
