Solid Epilogue & Introduction…

How was the epilogue better than the entire event put together?! That felt like it had way more time shenanigans, explanations, and impact than the rest of the event combined!! We left the official part of the event with time completely broken and a bunch of remnants of time displaced heroes and villains JUST left in OUR time. Now this issue immediately works to start correcting that, as it turns out time is attempting to reset itself automatically. The watchtower is a mess and now completely out of the leagues control people are just hopping in and out of time. One second an early version of Harley asking where Mr J is jumps in ready to smash heads with her mallet…a moment later she is gone. Some people shouldn’t be in as big of a rush to get back home though…looking at you Abin Sur! And it’s not like Grodd can do anything about it, this is completely out of his control. Superman, Wonder Woman, and Superman even dipped out to a safe location to not risk any interaction with their past selves, which in hindsight seems like a bad idea as they leave everyone else to deal with the time trapper and word forger when they show up moment later claiming they are here to take action!
It would also be helpful to have Mr terrific there, but along with Ted Kord and a time displaced version of himself, they have retreated t Terrifictech to desperately try and get airwave back. While I do agree that is very needed, Mr Terrific is currently very emotionally invested in this and is now a little prone to outbursts because of how much he blames himself. It actually looked like his past version figured out how to do it…but faded away before he could give them the answer! Yeah…it’s a rough day. Terrific can’t understand how his younger self could see it but he can’t, it’s not like he’s grown dumber over the years and he just can’t get the image of that poor kid out of his mind. I’m so glad Ted is here as a third party, he sees the problem in Terrific, he’s too emotionally invested. Mr terrific is at his best when he is solely focused on the cold equations, he needs to lock that out for a moment and do what he does best!
Back on the watchtower the world forger and time trapper begin to explain that now is the time to act before all of time unravels, the omega energy grodd tampered with his now growing and infesting all of time. The challengers got a first hand experience with that in their solo series, but as the two gods show them…it’s gotten way worse. But they may have a way to fix it…they just need to take a vivisect grodd!! Something no one is wanting to see happen, Grodd especially but everyone else wants to make sure he pays for his crimes the right way. But our gods don’t see it that way, at the end of the last issue they saw the effect omega energy was having on time. Since absolute power this universe has been disconnected from the rest of the multiverse, thus it is a sealed system and contains all permutations of omega energy and stops it from leaking out into the rest of existence. But with how small of a scale it is on, the omega energy now acts as a cancer eating away at the laws of reality. As they can see…even the flow of time! So they need to take the remnants of omega energy out of grodd and study and counterbalance it to find a way to reverse everything before it’s too late. Already the time backlash is getting worse, just like in the all in special when booster disappeared and time suddenly reset as if it never happened and the league forgot about him, as the Justice league begins to fight against these gods to prevent them from taking grodd..times starts to reverse upon itself and play back! It’s completely hopeless and in the midst of the chaos the gods throw up an impenetrable tachyon dome aroins themselves to prevent any of them from getting in. Time continues to fluctuate, one moment Abin Sur and Robin are there. The next moment nightfall Azrael batman is there and the amazing man right as he is about to join the all star squadron! Supergirl pulled a fast one and broke through the ground under their feet…which they didn’t protect with a shield. Unfortunately time trapper was able to stop her, sending her into a kaleidoscope of different versions of herself. Dan Mora…you are a genius. In the midst of this chaos, Grodd sees his opportunity to strike a deal. He attempts to show these gods that they would better use him alive, he has all the knowledge of the omega energy in his own mind. They need his knowledge on how to tame it more than they need a lab specimen. As flash tries to point out, they can’t trust him…but the trapper doesn’t see another choice and instead promises to throw Grodd into the Sun if he tries to betray them. With that the gods and grodd teleport away. But hope is not lost Prof fron the challengers and the atom thibk they have a way for the challengers to follow them. They get to work immediately.
Back with Mr terrific he figured out what he needs to do. The answer was in his face the entire time, Ted told him he needs to focus…but so does air wave! He just needs something for all of his scattered energy to focus on. He needs a tuning fork to hone in on! They left it on for quite a bit, fighting through the pain of the vibrations, but it didn’t seem to be working. But Michael realizes what they are missing, it’s putting out sounds…just not what airwave needs to hear. Michael pushes himself forward and grabs into the fork, and begins to speak to airwave. Telling him that he doesn’t need to feel ashamed, they know he was tricked and only believed what he was doing was right. They forgive him and need him and want him to come back! In one of the most epic moments with Mr terrific I’ve ever seen as his hand reaches out into the vibrations…suddenly the lighting from airwave forms into its own hand to grab onto Michael! Suddenly airwave is fully formed and embracing Michael! WOOOHOOO! Airwave is back and we couldn’t be any happier!
The watchtower is wrecked, and not all of the time displacements have returned. During all the chaos it was hard to keep track of them, but they think they have everyone accounted for. Seems that Jonah Hex (who is used to this by now, lol), Amazing man (so good to see him!), huntress, Marilyn Moonlight, and Batman Beyond (TERRY!) are still left behind. But what the league doesn’t know is that Ultra the Alien and the monster hybrid between metamorpho and bizzaro last issue are still out there and in the run! As the issue comes to an end we meet up with the trinity in the original league HQ. As the round table of the JLA sits boldly in the middle of the room, batman brings their discussion to the table. In their rush to assemble a new league…they have made a catastrophic error. WHAT ERROR?! Is there something else, or is about membership. Behind batman the images of everyone in the league is projected around the room. Are they going to propose stronger background checks or something because of airwave. Honestly you should probably kick Hawk out if he is in the league, lol. Also bring Killer frost back, she is “chill” now, I swear. Please don’t disband.

No parece que el último embite de un Gorilla Grodd embrutecido con la peligrosa energía Omega se solucione tan fácilmente. En la Atalaya, los héroes siguen gestionando la presencia de diversas variantes de aliados y enemigos de diversos puntos del tiempo y el Multiverso DCita. Esta situación se descubre realmente acuciante con la llegada de un dúo de entidades a cargo del buen desarrollo de la existencia. quienes buscan encontrar la solución... en el mismo pellejo de Grodd.
Este número se vuelve interesante por la parte de Mr. Terrific tratando de encontrar al desaparecido Air Wave. Descubriendo un encarozonador sentido a su frustrante desconocimiento por parte de su portentoso intelecto a una solución que recupere a este joven héroe tan traicionado y vilipendiado. Igualmente, Mark Waid parece querer seguir acudiendo al pretexto del embrollo espaciotemporal para que las encarnaciones pasadas de los héroes gestionen el cómo sienten que sus futuras contrapartes estén sumiendo al Multiverso en el caos total. Algo que por supuesto parece que se ligará a lo que ocurra en cuanto se entrecrucen tramas con ese Universo Absolute regido por Darkseid... Pero la verdad es que me parece la salida creativa menos interesante por parte de un autor tan ducho como es Waid acompañado por el talento gráfico de Dan Mora.

An enjoyable issue. This one had more emotion and more cohesion than the big crossover that preceded it, and the art continues to be kinetic and fun. It’s nice to enjoy a Mr. Terrific focus in conjunction with the Superman moving coming out.

The highlight of this issue is definitely Mr. Terrific. I love that he has to open up emotionally and be vulnerable to solve the problem in this comic instead of solely relying on his intellect like he's used to. Great way to challenge the character.
