Sutton Bay #4

Our Long Days

Rate this book
Florence Sadler is fed up. Behind her quirky, wild-child exterior, she cares deeply, feels everything, and is desperate to get out from under the shadows of her three older brothers to find her passion in life. After months of fruitless job hunting, she’s at the end of her tether. Then, an unlikely solution to all her problems blindsides her when her brother’s best friend offers her a job and a place to live. If only she could forget the mind-blowing evening they shared. Impossible, especially when her new boss makes it his mission to reignite her lost spark.

Dexter Moore has it all: a home, a successful business, loyal friends, and a loving family. The only thing missing is someone to share it with, a reality Dex accepted long ago. But when Florence struts into his life, a beacon of light he didn’t know he was searching for, he’s suddenly rethinking every decision he’s ever made. Torn between his head and his heart, Dex is powerless to resist the pull they’ve both fought for months.

Hot summer afternoons and balmy starlit evenings drive Florence and Dex closer together, and “one night” becomes the first of many. Their magnetism is undeniable, but will untold fears and decade-old vows end their future before it even begins?

Our Long Days is the final book in the Sutton Bay series. A series of interconnected standalone stories set in coastal New England, with lots of feelings, swoon and spice!

3.7⭐️ but I feel generous so I'll go with 4⭐️.

Both MCs struggle with their own conditions (see the trigger warning below). The FMC feels she’s not enough and is dealing with these thoughts, while the MMC believes he can’t have what he truly wants because of his disease.

Random thoughts:

➥ I liked seeing how their relationship developed and how they slowly opened up to each other and supported one another (even though it took the MMC a while to get over his fears).
➥ There were a few times I wanted to shake the MMC, but I also understood where he was coming from. And when he finally opened up to her, my heart just broke for him.

“You say you want everything? I doubt you’d want to be tied to a man whose future is unpredictable. It hurts, but losing you would destroy me.”

➥ I liked that he was the one chasing the FMC, and he was desperate for her even when he was trying to push her away.

“If needing you is my damnation, then send me to the depths of hell, because it can’t be worse than having you within reach and not holding you whenever I want.”

➥ I also liked that the FMC wasn’t desperate or a doormat! Especially when the MMC was trying to push her away, she called him out on his behavior. She knew what she wanted and was honest about her feelings.
➥ The FMC got a tattoo dedicated to the MMC but at that point they were still in a secret relationship (it wasn’t even official yet!) I think she rushed into getting that tattoo before knowing where their relationship was actually going. Then the third-act breakup happened… The FMC had a small accident at work and the MMC couldn’t hear her at all. He panicked and felt desperate, thinking she deserved someone better because of his disease, and that he didn’t want to be a burden on her, so he tried to end things to “protect” her. In that moment, the only thing I could think was: what’s she going to do with that tattoo if they don’t get back together?! So yeah, I didn’t like that she got a tattoo for him when she wasn’t even sure about their relationship. (Don’t get me wrong I like the idea of her tattoo, it’s really cute but I think the timing just wasn’t right! + the MMC also gets a tattoo of her at the end 🫶🏻).

Overall, it’s an easy and nice read.
______

Book info:

— Age gap (11): H (35) / h (24)
— Brother’s best friend (they’ve known each other their whole lives. They’re basically family).
— ONS
— Boss x Assistant
— Secret relationship
— She falls first but he falls harder
— Thoughtful, protective, possessive MMC
— Neighbors
— Small town

Safety:

Safety is fine

— The h always had a huge crush on the H over the years (she wasn’t desperate though), while the H never really saw her that way, not until their ONS! He’d always seen her as his bff’s little sister.
— About the MCs’ past:
╰➤ They were both with other people while knowing each other (no big details).
╰➤ Before their ONS, the h has been celibate for a while. No info on the H last time.
╰➤ Experienced H but I didn’t get manho vibes from him. There weren’t many details about his past, except that he doesn’t do relationships and just has occasional hookups/casual partners.
╰➤ He never loved anyone before the h.
╰➤ Experienced h, she said she was with a handful of guys who were sweet and considerate and they all treated her with respect (thankfully, no double standards 👏🏻).
╰➤ They haven’t mentioned anything about their celibacy since their ONS (it’s been 6 months), but I think they’re both celibate.
— No ow/om/cheating:
The H got jealous of one of his coworkers when he tried to make a move on the h, he couldn’t stand seeing OM close to her, so he interrupted them.
— No scenes with other people
— 3rd act break up (only one day)
— Push and pull from both (mostly from the H, but also he is the one doing most of the chasing)
— HEA (years later, with three daughters and another baby on the way)

Trigger :

— The H is hard of hearing as a result of Ménière's Disease and wears one hearing aid (he can experience violent attacks that cause severe dizziness and temporary hearing loss across both ears / on-page)
— The h has ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder).
— Loss of loved one (the h’s father)

I enjoyed this one! I have only read the third book and now this one and can say that I did not feel lost that I had not read others. I appreciate that books can actually be standalones. Anywho- I liked Florence and Dexter. I loved the mental health rep in this one. I liked their connection and chemistry. I liked that we got glimpses of their one night stand but then had to sit in the angst wanting more until they gave in. Dexter was a different man in the bedroom! His confidence was off the charts. I enjoyed how much they both supported each other and how they helped each other lower their walls to realize they were deserving of love. My only “issue” with this one is that I felt like it kind of dragged. There was resolution with what was going on with Dexter and then it flipped which just felt like an extension of the book. What I did enjoy about that time was the ways that Dexter showed his love for Florence. Can I also say that I liked that neither of Florence’s brothers went caveman on Dexter for being with their sister!

Florence has had a crush on Dexter since he gave her attention all those years ago. But she has always been like a little sister until tonight. New Years Eve. She decides to give in to her feelings and go after what she wants which is Dexter. They agree to one night. No strings. No future, and they share a HOT night. And now Florence has to pretend nothing happened when her body and heart want more. Well now she finds herself not only working for Dexter but living next door. She fights the pull towards him as long as she can but it is so strong. And when they finally give in, it’s more than it was before. Because now they are acknowledging their feelings. They are exploring the possibilities of them. And it is magical. Florence feels seen and understood and worshipped. But then she learns that their beginning might not be what she thought it was and it makes her spiral. But then Dexter proves his feelings over and over again and Florence realizes that they are the real deal until the end.

Dexter has never really seen Florence differently until tonight. Tonight he is willing to cross all the lines to get to experience her. He knows nothing can ever be. He is too worried to have a partner with his impairment. He doesn’t want someone to go through that with him. So he lives in the now which is Florence. They agree to one night and he pushes her. He does everything he wants to do and it is SO hot. And now he has to act like nothing ever happened. Which is much easier said than done. He keeps seeing her and it’s like his resolve gets weaker every time. And now he has hired her, and she is living next door. He has to say though she is like sunshine in his world. She brings order and laughter and fun. So he finally gives in. He gives in when she sees what he deals with. He gives in when he can’t take the thought of her with anyone else. And now they are doing this. A relationship. And all is well until she spirals. She goes in her head and he doesn’t know how to get her out. But then it all clicks. So he provides. He worships from a far. He treats her like the queen she is and hopes that she believes him when he says she is his forever.

This was a great conclusion to the series! I liked the setting. The characters. Getting to see the previous couples. And the epilogue was great! I appreciated what these two worked through to make it. I appreciated that Ronnie showed us love is work. Looking forward to reading what’s next :)

Thank you to LoveNotes PR and Ronnie for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review :)

"Love doesn't have to be heard."

THIS BOOK WRECKED ME.

I can’t think about “our long days” without crying. And I’m not even being dramatic.

I loved absolutely everything about this book. I relate to these characters so deeply that it feels impossible to put into words; it’s like they opened my chest and looked straight into my heart.

This relationship meant so much to me. Florence and Dexter are one of those couples that make you believe in soulmates, the kind of love that you root for with your whole being. They’re truly meant to be, and together they’re nothing short of extraordinary.

Florence has my entire heart. She is me, and I am her. I’ll never move on from her story. Her feelings, struggles, beliefs, and insecurities mirror my own, and seeing them portrayed in such a beautiful and heartbreaking way made me feel understood , even healed, in ways I can’t describe. Watching her growth, her acceptance, and the moment she finally starts believing in herself felt like a warm hug to my soul.

And Dexter? He lives rent-free in my mind. I was so excited for his book, and I still can’t believe how it ended. He’s such a layered, complex character — getting to know him so intimately was truly amazing.

And that epilogue? I’m not okay. I refuse to believe this series is over. I wasn’t
prepared to feel this emotional about the ending, but Florence and Dexter, and all of South Bay, will stay in my heart forever.

“Reserved for Ted.”
And yup… I will never move on.

one day i will read books that don't all feel like a 3.75 or a 4, today is not that day

what a lovely conclusion to the sweetest series!! randomly stumbling upon the sutton bay family has been such a fun journey, its also made me need a trip to maine desperately. all four sadler siblings have had the best love stories, if you're a small town romance fan and you haven't picked these up yet, get to it. i honestly didn't realize how connected to everyone i was until we got to the epilogue, saying goodbye to them and the family they created was bittersweet.

this was florence and dex's story, i have been WAITING for them pretty impenitently because i love a brothers best friend story. all the representation in this book was written so well, as an adhd girlies i get florence so much. these two had he best connection, we could've done with a bit more buildup, i don't always love romances that start with a hookup but this was written well so i didn't mind. dex really stole the show for me, like where are the men in the real world who will build me a house???

What a perfect ending to this series 😭 I’m sad to say goodbye, but I can’t wait to see what’s up next for Ronnie!

I really just wanted to hug these two so bad 🥹

It broke my heart how Dex felt like he couldn’t have what he really wanted, not only Florence but a certain kind of life 🥹 and how she also constantly felt not good enough 💔

I love how they found their way to each other, and how they fought for one another when things got tough. They gave one another the space & support that they needed, and are such a perfect fit 🥰

While we don’t have all the same traits, I did see a lot of myself in Florence (as a late-diagnosed ADHDer). I felt seen in so many ways 💜

I’m definitely a sucker for a brother’s best friend romance, and this definitely solidified why I love that trope so much.
I absolutely LOVED how her family reacted to them being together, and the friendships among the “sisters.”

♾★

happy happy release day @author.ronniemathews !!
the end of an era. and what a journey it's been🥹 florence + dexter's story is hands down my favourite in the series so far, this book was everything i could've asked for as a sutton bay stan! ronnie mathews, you seriously out-do yourself every. single. time 💕

dexter moore, the man you are🤌 his thoughtful actions stood out magnificently all through this book, the personification of actions speak louder than words !! this man raised the standard to new heights, his love for florence was just so wholesome to read about😭💗 i really felt for him for all that he'd been through, but his character arc in this one>> also the mouth on this man 🥵❤️‍🔥

florence sadler, my sweet girl🥹 i haven't related to a character this deeply in such a long time, she made me feel so seen and tugged at all my heartstrings with her inner monologue for real. her struggles with ADHD with believing in herself hit way too hard, and seeing her develop into the brilliant, confident woman was so healing❤️‍🩹 her love for dex knew no bounds and if there's one thing i've learned from her it's to show up for the people you love no matter what. i'm so glad she found someone who would be there by her side to brave the storm always🤍

to be an arc reader for this beautiful series has been an absolute honor and i'm so so grateful for the opportunities♾️ from the bottom of my heart thank you @author.ronniemathews 🥹
to everyone reading this review, i hope you're convinced to give this series a shot if you haven't yet because it's so damn worth it. you'll feel EVERYTHING along with the characters with a complete sense of wholesomeness and above all, being loved by the end of it💌 y'all best believe i'm never leaving sutton bay and that i'm gonna be raving about it for quite a while🙈

I am not ok. This book wrecked me in a good way. I have loved every second of this series and never wanted it to come to an end.

Dex and Flo are quite literally the perfect pair. We meet Dex and Flo throughout the Sutton Bay series and I, like many others have been eager for this book. Ronnie once again provided a heart-warming, emotional ride of a beautiful romance sharing our main characters vulnerabilities with care and compassion.

The support they bring to each other was something so special and as a reader, it fully immersed me and my feelings into the book. I absolutely adore their little animal family and it was such a cute but funny add on.

Flo’s one liners were incredible! but her determination was inspiring. Dex is such a strong but silent type, not believing he could have the future like his best friend but he was so wrong and Flo made him realise this. He's just a big ole softie but oh so bossy in the sheets.

The plot was very focused on our main characters and their respective journeys and how each of them could rely on the other, but also giving them the push in the direction for professional help. We didn't get a typical 3rd act breakup, more of a understanding of independence moment.
It was all then tied up in the most perfect ending with a snippet of all our fave Sadlers and their life now in the epilogue. I sobbed so hard

Ronnie’s books cannot be slept on, she is an amazing and very talented writer and her books deserve ALL the hype. I will forever recommend the 5 star series that is Sutton Bay!

Sutton Bay may have come to an end but my support for Ronnie hasn't! I cant wait for what the future brings.

I'm so sad to say goodbye to this series. Ronnie has created such loveable and relatable characters over these four books and after snippets of Florence and Dex throughout this series, I was so excited to get their story. And I think it's my favourite.

I found Florence incredibly relatable. Now, I don't have ADHD but a few people in my life do. And when I tell you that they way Ronnie wrote this... wow. I had tears in my eyes more than a few times because it made me put myself in my friend's shoes and I just had all of these immense feelings. Florence was real, raw and so beautifully vulnerable. Florence had so much love to give, and I'm so happy she gave it to Dex.

Also.. Dex though? Like... HELLO LUMBER-DADDY! Can we say that? 11 years older then his best friend's little sister but like her soul mate? He was such a big softie underneath all those tattoos and the way he was patient with Florence and he had no qualms about letting her know how perfect her big, beautiful brain was. His MOUTH took me by surprise but I bloody loved it. All the sweet, swoony moments between them were so perfect. I appreciated the way Ronnie handled Dex's hearing loss, too. Someone extremely close to me suffers the same thing as Dex, and it hit close to home but it was heartwarming to see Dex embrace this side of himself.

Oh here I go again, rambling. But Dex and Flo were everything! I thoroughly enjoyed this read and a special shout out for the way Ronnie wrote the epilogue. A wee catch up with each set of characters was a really special way to send off this series!

Add to your tbr if you like:
- small town romance
- brother's best friend
- age gap (11 years)
- boss x assistant
- forced proximity
- "only one night"
- mental health & hearing disability representation

Thank you to Ronnie and Love Notes PR for the advanced (yes, I'm late) copy of this book! Highly recommend!

Brothers best friend ✔️ age gap ✔️ secret relationship ✔️ FMC has adhd ✔️ he has sworn off love ✔️ found family ✔️ a k!ller epilogue (in the BEST WAY) ✔️ SPICYYYYY ✔️

Oh my gosh. Where to begin?!

At the beginning I guess… Sutton Bay has my whole entire heart. This series stormed its way in to my all time favourites with an arc read of Those Two Words last year, I’ve been beyond lucky enough to arc read each book as it’s come out, and they’ve all offered something so uniquely them.

Now, we’re here, on the last book of Ronnie’s debut series… and Our Long Days blew me away. I dropped my entire arc schedule to read this as soon as it hit my kindle. I have zero regrets, and a heart full of Dex and Florence.
It was SO special, so incredibly well written, and from the first page I was head over heels for these two characters. I laughed and cried… oh boy did I cry.

Florence is like my soul sister, the character I have been desperate to know since the first book, and she was incredible. She was funny and fierce, a thousand times stronger than she gives herself credit for and my gosh the way I related to her… the validation that her adhd diagnosis and her feelings towards her brain gave me. And don’t even get me started on the letter from her Dad… every book, the letters have had me SOBBING and this one… threw me for a loop. IYKYK.

Dexter 🥹 you absolute gem of a man. Not only was he kind, caring and never ever shied away from who Florence was.. but he ADORED HER FOR IT, for how her brain worked. He knew instinctively the right thing to do & say and the fact that he didn’t believe he was worthy of her, of her love, of a future full of happiness… that broke me. He was everything.

Also the spice… holy crap on a cracker THE SPICE. I knewwww Dex would be feral, but I truly underestimated this man. He was so hot, so dominating, so obsessed with her. He couldn’t get enough & loved her bratty side just as much as she loved being a brat 😈 .

Ronnie, you are incredibly talented. Your words are so special and you should be so proud of yourself.

FLORENCE AND DEX!!!!

Gahhhhh I didn’t think this series could own more of me but I was wrong!! The whole of Sutton Bay will have my heart forever and ever!

As the last book of the series, this one was unbelievably bittersweet but I could not have hope for a better ending.

Florence and Dex were funny, vulnerable, raw, sexy, and everything in between. These two were absolutely made for each other. Their love is patient and quiet yet fiery in the sheets and I DEVOURED them.

Ronnie is unreal at writing mental health reps and I will forever be grateful to her for that - my messy and chaotic brain felt so seen and validated with Florence, and the way I MELTED at Dex being her best cheerleader. And vice versa btw - Dex may be a little grumpy on the outside, but really he’s a big old softie with his own struggles and Florence saw him for him and he needed that!!

Obsessed with them and all of Sutton Bay. A must read series if you like small town romance full of spice and emotional depth. Unbelievably well developed characters that you can’t help but relate to.

OUR LONG DAYS tropes:
💖 “one night only”
💖 secret relationship
💖 age gap
💖 brother’s best friend
💖 boss x assistant
💖 she falls first, he falls harder

Thank you thank you THANK YOU Ronnie for the opportunity to read an ARC

REVIEW POST - Book 70 of 2025

Our Long Days by Ronnie Mathews

It's time to say goodbye to the Sadlers, and what an ending Dex and Flo's book gave us.

Leaving a series behind is never easy, but I love how the epilogue gives us glimpses into all of the couples on this occasion, not just the main characters in this story. It really felt like a full circle moment, closing the door on all of them peacefully.

I love Flo and as a list making girlie myself, I felt her every brain move. I can't imagine what it's like to like with an ADHD diagnosis, but I can relate to the feelings she has, the rejection she places upon herself, and the constant self deprication for even the smallest mistake on any given day. The worry of what people think of her, the aim to please, and the strive for perfection, is exhausting for most of us who feel like this.

Whilst Dex works hard to the the calm in her storm, much like we've seen from all the men in this series actually (it's clear to see why he and Patrick are so close with this shared trait), let's not lose focus on the fact that he is also carrying a heavy burden himself. The way he feels about himself, the way he sees himself, and the way he chooses to hide himself from the world and ultimately his future happiness is quite heartbreaking.

Their story is a rocky one, but one that shows that love is so many things!

So long Sutton Bay, we've seen the seasons change, and it's been a fabulous trip!

No notes, just pure perfection! Ronnie knocked this one out of the park. I am so sad this series is over but she wrapped it up so beautifully and in my opinion, saved the best for last.
Florence is the youngest Sadler sibling and has just moved back home after traveling the world. She is trying to find herself but doesn’t want to disappoint her family. Dex is friends with Florence’s older brother and after one night together, they can’t seem to stay away from each other.
This was the perfect ending to the series! I loved the banter between Florence and Dex. They just knew what each other needed and they were able to be vulnerable with each other. Their relationship was so beautiful and I loved how they helped each other through tough situations. That epilogue had me in tears and I will be rereading this series soon because I will never be over the Sadler family!

Read if you love:
✨brother’s best friend
✨age gap
✨boss x employee
✨she falls first, he falls harder
✨”one night only”
✨secret relationship

Thank you Ronnie for the arc!

3.5 Stars!

Firstly, I want to thank LoveNotes PR for an ARC of Our Long Days.

Before I start with the story I just want to mention how much I loved the representation of ADHD and Hearing Disabilities; Meniere's. We need more of this in books and I loved how it stayed a plot point throughout the story.

We follow Florence and Dex as they try to navigate working together after a spending the night with each other. I loved Florence, I enjoyed reading her thoughts in her chapters. She always said whatever came to mind and didn't want anyone to fix her, other than herself. I was rooting for them both from the beginning.

I also thought the way the story dealt with grief was done really well, and it made me emotional at the end.

This is a cozy small town romance, that also delves into deeper topics and I really enjoyed it.

This was such a beautiful story! What a way to end a series!

The ADHD rep in Florence really made me feel seen and I think it was executed really well. I was unfamiliar with Ménière’s disease, which Dexter suffers from, but that was also put into the story in a thoughtful way. I loved the chemistry between Flo and Dex and could not put this book down as soon as I picked it up.

Florence’s growth throughout the book was so heartwarming to read. Watching her finally start to believe in herself made me so happy.

Tropes:
- age gap (24/35)
- brother’s best friend
- boss x assistant
- ADHD rep
- found family
- small town

Review!
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I highly recommend this book... no spoilers in my review.

In the 4th and final of the Sutton Bay series, Ronnie does not disappoint us with this final book. It is a beautiful ending and I loved it.

Florence our FMC and Dex our MMC are thrown together suddenly on new years and then slowly there lives become intertwined...as much as they both fight it and there are a fair few bumps along the way they keep falling together and fighting the want to be together through lots of silliness from Dex.

Both have their own struggles, and both have things to overcome. The relationship between them becomes something else. I loved this final installment, and I loved the ending and how the series was completed.

Thank you so much, Ronnie, for the arc copy of this book. I have enjoyed this whole series thoroughly.

this book pulled on my heart strings and beat me up with a shoe but it’s something i would go through all again because i was obsessed with this book. the best way to wrap up the sutton baby babies. dex and florence were everything to me, that lumberjack was so hot. florence is such a bad bitch, i lived for their dynamic, watching the heal one another in their own way? beautiful.

DANG IT RONNIE! 🥺

I'm not crying your crying!

Ronnie has done it again with the conclusion to the Sutton Bay Series. She helps you build an emotional attachment to Florence & Dex and then rips your heart apart for a brief moment to then turn around and stitching you back up.

Lumbersnack & Trouble are by far my favorite couple of Sutton Bay at this point (sorry not sorry Booth but I can't resist the lumbersnack).

Between Flo's spicy brain & Dex's hearing loss they are by far one of the most relatable couples that Ronnie has written. They show that not all MCs are perfect, which is still unfortunately not the norm in the publishing industry.

Flo pushing off seeking treatment calls to me strongly because I have had the hardest time accepting that my spicy brain will always make my life a little more unpredictable. She has such a big heart which makes her so lovable & relatable. I love that she accepts that she is quirky and doesn't try to put on a show with others and just stays true to herself.

Dex does so much to help Flo believe in herself and not fall to the negativity that her spicy brain provides her while he lets himself suffer in silence because he doesn't want anyone else to have to suffer with him. I loved seeing Flo break down Dex's walls and get him allow others to provide him the support he needs while also helping him to take care of himself.

I will definitely be continuing to follow Ronnie's career because her characters and writing style call to my heart

ARC Review:

4.5 🌟

I loved this one! I related to Florence SO much and had never read an FMC with ADHD that was, in my opinion, depicted so well.

Dex...I mean. He's a lumberjack, tattooed man with a dad bod. He falls hard for Flo, and their story is beautiful.

Wow. Wow. Wow.

A few weeks ago I stumbled upon Ronnie Matthews after looking for romance books to keep my attention and get me out of my slump. I’m so grateful I took the chance.

This ARC was incredible.
The spicy scenes? Perfection.
The tension? Delectable.
I love not knowing what happened at first, but those flashbacks she put in there? Top tier.
I never expected to feel as connected to Dex and Flo, but truly they are my favorite couple. Dex is sweet, thoughtful, and just the right amount of Daddy I want in my MMC. Flo reminds me of so many people diagnosed in my generation with ADHD. The representation isn’t a stretch in my eyes and it’s just done SO well.

Also, can we talk about the emotional last chapters? I’ve grown to love the Sadler family, and the last pages are the perfect bow to tie the story up.

This book is my favorite one of the series and honestly one I’ll read again.

Thank you Ronnie Matthews! Well done!

I don’t even know where to start. I swear to God, Our Long Days wrecked me in the softest, slowest, most devastating way. This book hit me in a way I didn’t expect. It’s not just another small-town romance. It’s about that ache of feeling lost, of wondering where you fit when everyone around you seems to have it figured out. And that’s the thing...this book isn’t loud. It doesn’t shout its heartbreak. It bleeds it. Softly. Patiently. It hurts because it’s so human.

Florence Sadler broke me open. She’s the girl who’s always been “too much” — too wild, too lost, too unsure of who she’s supposed to be. The one who laughs too loud because it’s easier than crying. The one who keeps running, not because she wants to, but because she doesn’t know where she’s allowed to stop. And watching her slowly realize she deserves more — more peace, more love, more her — had me sobbing like she was a real person I needed to protect. She’s messy, restless, and so heartbreakingly real. I saw pieces of myself in her. Florence doesn’t magically find herself because of Dex. She grows into who she’s always been capable of being.

And then there’s Dexter. God, Dex. The man who tries to keep everything neat and under control, until Florence walks in and turns his whole world upside down. Their chemistry isn’t just sparks, it’s that slow, magnetic pull you can’t explain. You feel it in every glance, every hesitation, every unspoken word between them. It’s love that builds, not explodes and that’s what makes it so beautiful. And Dex learns to loosen his grip on perfection and let himself feel. It’s so intimate, the way their love story unfolds. Quiet moments that somehow hit harder than grand gestures.

Their love isn’t neat or easy. It’s the kind that aches in the spaces between words. The kind where you can feel the tension in every look, every breath, every moment they’re trying not to touch. Ronnie writes intimacy like she’s seen the inside of your soul. The way fear can disguise itself as indifference, how love doesn’t fix you but makes you brave enough to start trying.

By the time I finished, I just sat there, staring at the last page, feeling that bittersweet mix of peace and longing. It’s the kind of story that doesn’t just make you swoon. It makes you breathe a little deeper.

If you’ve ever felt like you were standing still while everyone else moved on… if you’ve ever wanted someone to choose you not despite your chaos but because of it… if you’ve ever loved someone who made you feel seen in a way that terrified you, Our Long Days will ruin you and rebuild you, one aching page at a time.

Our Long Days is the fourth and last in the Sutton Bay Series by Ronnie Mathews and it’s a beautiful and emotional story centred on Dexter Moore and Florence Sadler.

Florence, struggling to find her path, accepts a job from her oldest brother's best friend, Dex. Dex finds his orderly life completely upended by Florence, who is the light he never knew he was looking for.

They’ve known each other for all their lives, Flo’s had a crush on him since she was a teenager, but after one night together on New Year’s, something changes. The connection between them is now irresistible, pulling them into a magnetic relationship despite the complications of their existing ties and the risks of a boss-assistant dynamic.

Dex and Florence were wonderfully developed and deeply endearing. It was a joy to watch them navigate their feelings. Their journey was incredibly sweet, marked by the genuine way they supported each other and faced their fears together. The moments where they leaned on one another warmed my heart.

The pacing of the story was excellent, and Ronnie’s writing is engaging and kept me hooked until the very end. Beyond the central romance, the family dynamics added a rich layer to the narrative. The scenes involving Florence and her brothers were sometimes funny and sometimes touching. Getting glimpses into the HEA of the previous couples was delightful.

This story was heartwarming and it made me laugh, cry and swoon. The epilogue was a masterpiece, offering charming and distinct final moments for all four couples, followed by a beautiful scene where all eight characters come together for a special occasion.

This book was the perfect ending for this series that is one of my favourite small town series ever! It was bittersweet to say goodbye to these characters, but I’m so happy for all of them to get their happy ending!

"She’s the ocean. Ferocious waters. Carving her way through the world. It’s easy to get lost, but the second I stop fighting, a calmness waits.
If loving her is getting lost at sea, let me float away with the current.
I’d happily drown at her hands."

I was lucky to receive an ARC of Ronnie Mathews's newest book, All We Need (the final book in the Sutton Bay Series). It follows the story of Florence and Dex.

I was excited to return to Sutton Bay.

I have not so patiently been waiting for Florence and Dex's story, ever since meeting them in Those Two Words.

I'm not sure what Ronnie put in this book, but I lost myself in Florence and Dex's story and could not put it down.

This is hands down my favourite book in the Sutton Bay series to date, and I also found my favourite book boyfriend written by Ronnie!

I adored everything about their story and thought they were perfect together. They balance each other out perfectly.

Watching them grow both individually and as a couple and seeing them navigate whatever challenges came their way while learning to lean on one another was everything.

Ronnie did a great job writing about two chronic illnesses, and I thought she treated them with the care they deserved.

I loved seeing how Florence and Dex both navigated their illnesses, learning what works for them while also supporting each other through this process.

I adored seeing Patrick, Johanna, Lottie, Quinn, Graham, Alessandra, and Booth again and getting to catch up with each of the previous couples as well as Claire and George.

It is bittersweet knowing this is the end of the Sutton Bay Series, but Our Long Days was the perfect way to end it. I can not wait to see what Ronnie comes out with next!

Thank you so much to Ronnie Mathews and @lovenotes.pr for this ARC 🩷

Our Long Days is the final book in the Sutton Bay series, and what a perfect conclusion it is!

While I absolutely loved the romance (and I’ll get to that!), what stood out most was the way Ronnie Mathews explored both Florence and Dexter’s vulnerabilities. They’re both fiercely independent, determined to handle things on their own, and watching how that slowly shifts over the course of the book was deeply moving. I resonated so strongly with Florence’s character, I saw so much of myself in her. The way she and Dexter support each other, quietly but powerfully, was such a joy to read. It’s a beautiful reminder that life doesn’t have to be perfect, but with the right person, everything can feel a little bit brighter.

Now, onto the romance, because wow. I adored their dynamic from the very first page. We’ve got: brother’s best friend ✔️, forbidden love ✔️, secret fling ✔️, she falls first but he falls harder ✔️✔️✔️. It was completely enthralling, and I found myself counting down the minutes until I could dive back in.

As with the rest of the series, we get more of the Sadler family dynamic and I honestly love every single one of these characters. Ronnie Mathews has created such a rich, warm, and believable world. Seeing how everyone’s stories came together in the epilogue genuinely got me in the feels.

If you love small-town romance with a generous dash of (very well-written) spice, I highly recommend this series. It’s heartfelt, romantic, and just so satisfying from start to finish.

Huge thanks to Ronnie and the team at Love Notes for sending me an early copy of this book. This review is 100% honest, after flying through books 1–3 last month, I was elated to get my hands on the conclusion to this wonderful series.

Tropes:
🪓Brothers best friend
🪓Age Gap (24/35)
🪓Boss X Employee
🪓Only one night
🪓She falls fast, he falls harder

I knew. I knew Ronnie would ruin me with the last book in the Sutton Bay series but I was not prepared for how hard this book hit me *I have a crying picture as proof and I never take those*

Florence was such a beautiful, real, raw character. I felt her in the depths of my soul, her struggles and acceptance of how life is different to how you map it out really makes you feel seen. With her ADHD diagnosis, she tries to tackle it on her own the best way she knew how but what she needed was Dexter Moore standing by her side. I loved the way she stood by Dex and softly gave him the courage to face his own life choices. I can’t overstate how much I adored Florence as a character. The only way describe her would be sparkly. She is a sparkly, messy and strong human.

Dexter Moore. The lumbersnack with a dad bod and a moustache worthy of a rodeo ride. I’m so sorry Graham, but you did get dethroned as Sutton Bay king (please don’t write about this heartbreak in your journal I couldn’t take the pain) Dex is everything you want in an MMC and then even more. He goes to every length to help Florence find her path and tackle her list. He really saw her for who she is and not her diagnosis, finding ways to make her daily life more manageable. Fighting his own struggles, he has his walls up high but Florence bulldozed them and then some. Both of their courage to face their fears brings the book together and will also make you bawl like a little baby.

Without a doubt, this is the perfect ending to a truly brilliant debut series. I've said since book 1 that Ronnie Mathews does not write like a new author. She has some serious writing chops and can tackle mental health rep, grief, and chronic conditions like no one else can!

Even when writing what could be considered as more difficult topics, Ronnie does so with a real understanding and a lightness of touch that shows she's done her research and/or is familiar with the topic.

Her writing carefully weaves together heat, chemistry in abundance, humour, vulnerability, and a depth of emotion that had me leaving her a voice message sobbing at 1am this morning.

The small-town vibes are perfect, and Sutton Bay as a series is up there with some of my very favourites. The author has finished on an absolute high with Dex and Florence's story. I mean, who doesn't love an age gap, brother's best friend, boss romance! To me, this is the best in the series, but they're all 5-star. Both Florence and Dex are just so likeable as characters. Dex is honestly just... I have no words to describe the perfection of this man

Bravo Ronnie! I can't wait to see what you achieve with your next series ✨️

I am in tears. I hate saying goodbye to a series that has totally consumed me and I think this one broke me the most. Ronnie, I don’t know how you did it but you created the most perfect world and I don’t ever want to leave it.

This book made me laugh, cry and just feel so much love.
Florence and Dexter obliterated all my expectations for this book. It was absolutely amazing, a beautiful ending to Sutton Bay.

🫐 Brothers Best Friend
🌸 Secret Relationship

🫐 She Falls First, He Falls Harder

Every interaction between Florence and Dexter made me squeal with happiness, there is no universe where these two wouldn’t be together.

We had so much chemistry between them, I was holding my breath till they got together. The spice, the bossy side of Dex, holy moly it was perfect ❤️‍🔥

I loved how both characters had sensitive issues, that whilst kept them sort of fearful of relationships and themselves, actually made their love so much stronger. Florence with her ADHD and Dexter with Ménière’s disease. Their story was beautifully written.

Thank you to Ronnie for the ARC.

4.5/5

Ronnie delivered a banger of a book to wrap up her debut series! I laughed, cried and swooned! Florence and Dex were just as wonderful individually, as they were together.
The fire and chemistry, the love and care between them will just make you melt!

Florence was a sassy ray of sunshine and Dex a true “lumbersnack”!

Florence and her ADHD was so relatable! Her “neurospicy” brain made her unique and not the hot mess she thought herself to be. Dex struggled with Ménières and accompanying hearing loss. His struggles and fears to let someone in we’re also relatable. I loved the way these two complemented each other and loved and cared for one another - truly heartwarming.

Florence’s grief over the loss of her father was heartbreaking and reminds us that grief comes in waves and has no timeline to end.

Loved the found family sisterhood. The way the women all gather to support Florence when she needed it the most, was exactly what we needed.

I loved getting glimpses of the other siblings and their partners - and don’t get me started on those epilogues!! [insert sobbing emoji].

The spice was ablaze! These two did not hold back!
[Spice: 3.5-4/5]

There is so much more to be said about this book but I’d rather you go read it!

Thank you so much Ronnie Mathews and Love Notes PR for me review copy!
