Love & Other Atrocities

Rate this book
Get ready for one Hell of a love story...

After spending centuries tormenting sinners in Hell, Annoth’zagoz, a minor demon, is thrilled to finally be tasked with her first Possession. The only problem is the human she's been assigned. Depressed over his recent break-up and lay-off, the only thing Theo Keating wants to do is watch Star Wars on repeat and become one with his couch. He certainly isn’t interested in committing any of the atrocities Annoth has planned for the two of them.

Enter Ben de la Cruz, a former priest turned couch-surfing con man, who finds himself roped into Annoth's scheme to be rid of Theo and find a more functional human host. What Ben lacks in exorcism skills, he more than makes up for in pure charm and some experience with marital counseling, not to mention a killer smile.

Hijinks ensue as Annoth, Ben, and Theo attempt to outfox one another while exploring somewhat unconventional exorcism methods, such as late-night movie marathons, hot chocolate dates, and definitely not falling for each other. Can Annoth succeed in winning Theo over to the Dark Side, or will her encounters with humanity result in something far more atrocious... like love?

where do I start?! This book was such an enjoyable read. The story progression was perfect speed and the characters all were so likable and had their own unique personality. i loved the banter between all of them and they just all blended well. Annie, Ben and Theo were the perfect trio. They all had amazing character developments and complimented each other. Now for those spicy scenes.. you just have to read it. The writing is done so well that you feel the intensity of it all. But please read all the trigger warnings before diving in!
I fell in love with each characters and the overall storyline. I can't wait to follow this story into the next book and I definitely want to read the authors other books due to the incredible writing.

F*cking hilarious!

Sooo the first few chapters which could have easily been a serious/dark topic was masterfully made so friggin funny I had to keep stopping reading - to calm down - just to breathe again so I could continue...

The spice is very 🥵🌶🌶🌶 with ⚔️
Both men are bisexual and our little demon only has eyes for our men. Their dynamic should simply NOT work. BUT IT DOES!!

"Father" Ben is an ex-priest come con-man, who thinks he has nothing left to lose... "Saint" Theo is such a goody two-shoes but also battling depression and completely numb emotionally. Which brings us to Annoth, our smexy demon. She tries to possess Theo but with a black hole where his emotions should be, she is stuck with him and unable to possess him.

The trio are trying to juggle their situations and help seperate Theo from Annoth but with lust bubbling under their waistband... And their hearts?!? They find themselves in the most unlikely situation 3 'people' could ever find themselves.

What does a new demon, an ex-priest and depressed golden retriever type male have in common? This story.

This story follows Annie, a newly anointed (pun intended) demon whose first assignment is Theo. Theo is a newly dumped male who is really going through it, depressed and just trying to survive. When Annie realizes how badly this assignment is going, she forces Theo into an exorcism to start over. It sounds fun, right? Wrong, they hired a priest who really isn't a priest, and it goes into the epic failure bucket.

You watch these three very unique characters grown and developed throughout the novel, and it honestly shocked me how much I loved each and every one of them. Very fun weekend read!

I was lucky enough to receive an arc of this amazing novel and am leaving a review of my own thoughts and feelings.

This booook!!! Yall. Read it. It’s so funny and well written. Each character is so memorable and unique and likeable. Annoth is a demon finally tasked with her first possession, cue Theo. Theo is a mess he’s been recently dumped and fired and his depression diet consists of cereal and stale pizza. They hire Ben, an ex-priest turned con man, to do an exorcism so annoth can find a less pathetic host. The plot pace is perfect. The jokes are hilarious. The spice was excellent. There’s mm and mf and mmf. I also love it’s the fmc wielding shadows and a tail, and not the MMC which is the scenario in most of the demon pnr I’ve read. This book was everything I wanted in a summer read. It’s so new and fresh and funny and hotttt. I’ve never read anything like it. I loved it.

So this is MMF almost Romcom with just a dash of Demon.

Its a nice feel good story. You cheer for the trio together, and it was nice to see people grow and change in the course of the story.

I cried that the turning point where Annie choose they are worth everything.

The preface almost made me not read the book. I don't feel like its needed. If a person chooses an mmf book they understand that that's the type of couplings your going to have. The trigger warnings were enough to cover it.

"Listen...Annatar or whatever you said your name was-" "Annoth'zagoz of the Seventh Tower!" "Sure, ok, Andor-zygote."

"...they'll write it on my headstone: Here lies Ben, who loved Annie so much, it rotted his brain."

...then look up and meet their eyes: Blue and brown. The flowers and the soil.

Ben shoots back. "Anyway, I've had a thought. Shocking, I know, but hear me out."

I raise my eyebrows. "You taught our demon girlfriend a Bible verse?" "She didn't burst into flames, so l think it's fine," Ben replies.

Annoth’zagoz, a minor demon, is thrilled to finally be tasked with her first Possession. The only problem is the human she's been assigned. Depressed over his recent break-up and lay-off, the only thing Theo Keating wants to do is watch Star Wars on repeat and become one with his couch. Enter Ben de la Cruz, a former priest turned couch-surfing con man, who finds himself roped into Annoth's scheme to be rid of Theo and find a more functional human host.

This might be my newest obsession!
Annoth'zagoz aka Annie, is just a big bundle of shadowy goodness, underneath all that fire and brimstone. And she has a TAIL!

We get almost 400 pages of this hot, sizzling, funny, tense, and tear-jerking story. Theo and Ben are being dudes, as much emotional depth as a cup of coffee, but since Annie is a Demon, we're not having much luck there either I'm afraid. But they're very cute together.

It's a beautiful paranormal story between 3 people, queer, lovely. It touches on topics like grief, acceptance, accountability, and unexpected love.

Oh, and it has a cliffhanger from HELL!

I'm so excited for you guys to get your hands on this beauty of a debut!
It's out June 30th!

Thank you to Rae Linehan for providing me with a copy of the book. I am excited to leave a review.

Love & Other Atrocities was a super fun read. Rae Linehan weaves a story that is laugh out loud hilarious with an abundance of Star Wars references that also highlights the importance of meeting people where they are and helping them through the mess that sometimes is life.

Theo is such a relatable character as we see him struggling with depression as well as anxiety that he has had for much of his life while also revealing himself to be a deeply loving and compassionate person to those around him.

Ben adds levity to the cast of characters as well as being a complex character who brings out people’s strengths through his charming demeanor while also highlighting that not one thing in our life defines us.

Annoth’zagoz . . . well, what can I say . . . watching her learn about people, human behavior, and Earth while she challenges what she was taught and trying to exist authentically was both entertaining and inspiring.

Through all the laughs and even some tears, is a beautiful story of how we are all capable of giving and receiving love and belonging to a community. Including a demon from the seventh tower.

**ARC READ**

Annie is a demon sent on her first possession mission and is unfortunate enough to be sent to possess Theo, who has had his heart ripped out and fallen into deep depression. In an attempt to separate them, they hire Ben to perform an exorcism only to find Ben is actually an ex-priest living out of his car. The 3 try to work together to find a solution, but as time passes, feelings blossom between all 3, and Annie wonders if remaining on Earth with the two men she loves is possible.

Ive been so fortunate to read the Ulvvori Chronicles by Linehan, and this book was so far from her fantasy that I was excited to see how it went. Let me tell you - NOT disappointed. Linehan writes the most wonderful golden retriever-esque MMCs that make you want to protect them with your entire being. I loved this trio so much, and I LOVED watching their relationship grow and develop. The amount of representation present in this book was just wonderful and so so so appreciated. There were plot aspects I expected to see that I am BEYOND thrilled were not included - I thoroughly enjoyed the pace and story of this book.

🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

I saw the author posting teasers for this book on Instagram and knew I HAD to read it. This book is laugh out loud hilarious, incredibly spicy, and surprisingly poignant. I think I ran through the full spectrum of human emotions - much like our darling demon Annie does.

Each of the characters charmed me in their own ways. Theo probably reminds me the most of myself, Ben is so dreamy but with his own dark secrets, and Annie is - well, a demon learning what it means to be human. I love all the nerd references (Theo is obsessed with Star Wars for example) scattered throughout the book. But honestly the best part of the book is the relationship development between the Theo, Ben, and Annie. They're such different personalities that compliment each other and watching them fall in love is so romantic, hot AF, and emotional.

Thanks to the author for the ARC & chance to read this early! Everyone NEEDS to read this!

I flew through this book! It was funny, it was SPICY. Who knew throwing an ex-priest, a demon, and an anxious sunshine together would result in such chemistry and connection? And I was HERE for it.

Yes, this book is packed with steam and humor, but there’s also so much personal growth and healing woven in. Watching these three not only grow but come together (literally) gave me ALL the feels. And did I mention there’s tail stuff? 🔥

If you’re in a reading slump and need something fun and fiery, you’re going to want to read this one! Trust me.

Thank you R.H. for the opportunity to read this as an ARC!

What an amazing book! I loved the character development of all of them, especially Annie. I kinda missed Ben's POV but it worked even without it. The spice was HOT and there was never a dull moment. The ending had me at the edge of my seat but fortunately everything was resolved and there was a HEA, with just a little setup for the next book, but not a true cliffhanger. I really loved the book and I hope there will be a next one soon!

Okay but… HOLY HOTTTT 🥵 This book? Unhinged in the BEST way. If you’re looking for an MMF done right, this is it.

What happens when you throw together a demon, a con man ex-priest, and a Star Wars -obsessed, anxious golden retriever of a man?
Pure chaotic magic. And smut. LOTS of smut.

RH delivered a deliciously filthy read with heart, humor, and heat.

Add it to your TBR immediately. You’re welcome. 😏

Wow!! Where do I begin???

The character development is top notch throughout this book. All broken and depressed to loving and trusting.

I don’t typically gravitate towards a M-M romance book, and this was M-M-F. I didn’t hate it, but still not my first choice.

This book is SPICYYYY.

Holy smokes!!!! I hope you have a fan that will crank cold air on you while you read this book. R.H. Linehan has raised the bar for spicy scenes. I am not sure when my heart rate is going to return to normal now. They just ramp up and ramp up. I’m still trying to recover enough to write this review. I am usually not a huge fan of MMF spice because it is usually not well done like this. This is fully a team sport. Everyone gets that participation trophy. Several…several participation trophies.

Ok, there is more than spice in this book. Let me gather my thoughts here. Whew! Theo Keating is reeling from a breakup, when he also discovers he has been chosen for a little demon possession. Annoth’zagoz (Annie) is baffled that this human feels…nothing. What in the he!! is she supposed to do with this? Ben de la Cruz to the rescue…sort of. Just not in the way Annie or Theo expected.

Mental health is addressed in many different ways. Religious trauma and still having religious parents was handled well. Also, a freaking standing ovation for showing bi men as bi men, and speaking up as such. There is so much bi erasure, and I loved seeing more than one person speak up against it. Other LGBTQIA+ relationships are represented as well. I hope you like Star Wars, and if you don’t, you will at least smile when hearing about Star Wars now. Cats!!! Ok, there are dogs too, but CATS!!

I didn’t expect to cry reading this book (and we will have words when I recover, RH). You are also going to laugh (confession time cracked me up). The character development was so great to watch with all three main characters. Along with the mind blowing s*x. It really is a great book, and I need the next book ASAP. Until then, I’m going to go listen to some Green Day and some country music. This is one tail you will definitely want…I mean, tale you will definitely want to read. ;)

Thank you, R.H. for letting me be a part of the Snowballers Anonymous and read an ARC. This review is my own muddled, honest words.

NOTE: PLEASE review content/trigger warnings before reading, and always take care of yourself. <3

When I saw Rae post for readers, I immediately ran so fast to sign up ("Start the car!") as I have absolutely loved everything of hers that I've read. And this was no exception... she left me laughing hysterically, kicking my feet, crying, and fanning myself from the spice.

Demon Annoth’zagoz is finally given a chance to do a possession after centuries in Hell torturing souls. She's thrilled to bits - but quickly deflates when she realizes her assigned human is just ... a lump with seemingly zero emotions. Nothing to grab onto to control.

Theo is deep in depression after a breakup and the loss of his job. Pizza and Star Wars are the only things keeping him going. With the arrival of Annoth, his life is flipped upside down, and Theo wants nothing but to get rid of Annoth and get back to his pizza, and Annoth wants nothing more than to find a more suitable host. Enter Father Ben, summoned to perform an exorcism... except, he's a con man, realizes demons are real, and freaks out.

This all leads to a hilariously heartwarming romp that has left me wanting more, more, more! I don't think I've ever highlighted so much on my Kindle, and I keep going back and looking at everything and reliving each piece of the story.

Ben is a soothing balm to both halves of the demon possession, and the resulting triad relationship is spicy, beautiful, queer, and so full of love... and a tail! *swoon*

This whole books is incredible, and I just love the individual growth of Theo, Ben, and Annie, but also their growth together - as couples and a trio. The love that blossomed is something not to be missed, and I implore you to run, not walk, and read this for yourself.

I messaged Rae several times with reactions, and to thank her for including certain topics (no spoilers), and I am so grateful to have been given the chance to read this book.

Thank you SO SO much to Rae for the eARC! My opinions are my own.

ARC review here!

I absolutely loved it. The character development of Annoth?! Perfect. The build up of the relationships?! Amazing. The mental health/LGBTQ+ representation?! Top tier. The comedy and drama Annoth brings to Theo’s life with Ben?! Hilarious, she’s unhinged. I can definitely say it did not start out the way I expected it to, but honestly? It made it so much better, bc you got to see how depression can really be impactful not just on your mental health, but physically, emotionally and how it can make it so much more difficult to actually just survive. Healing from depression isn’t linear, it takes a few steps at a time and a lot of acceptance and understanding, which I think was shown in this book perfectly.

Also the Dedication?! The Anti-Dedication?! One of my absolute favorites so far, no doubt. And I also loved the Author’s Note as well, acknowledging the importance of what’s going on in the world right now towards those in the queer community along with providing links to programs you can donate to, I really appreciated that especially as someone that’s a part of the queer community. The only thing I wish was added was the POV of Ben; we only get the POV of Theo first and Annoth, but I would’ve loved to have read from Ben’s POV every now and then.

I can’t wait for the next book; I’m assuming there will be given how it ended👀 and I can’t wait to figure out what happened with Annoth and the deal and how it’s going to affect Theo and Ben, bc I have no doubt it’s going to be meeesssyyy😆 anyways yall, this was a great book, and I highly recommend, especially if you want to see any mental health and LGBTQ+ representation, this book does it perfectly👌

When a demon finds humanity

A simple possession. Corrupt the soul and take over to cause as much chaos as possible. Except this soul is currently dealing with losing his girlfriend and his job and is just barely moving forward. Nothing strong enough to grab to completly take over. Looks like it won't be as simple as she expected.

So instead she takes a human form and they watch movies, talk and just kind of hang out. However, one moment changes her outlook on him. Maybe it's best to be exorcized and try again with someone else.  However, the priest they get isn't actually a priest any more. Now the three of them are cohabitating and getting to know each other and the people around them.

The more the demon learns the less she understands about what she was told of humanity. What will she do as she falls for the two men. She was never meant for these feelings and she isn't sure what to do now.

This book is a chaotic mix of a demon learning about the world, a ex-priest who is trying to find a new place in the world and a man down on his luck trying to move on.

I really loved this story and love how they all learned about each other and the world together. How they all came to realizations they never would have without the demon.

That little twist at the end was super surprising and I can't wait to see what's next.

This was an ARC copy I received from the author & let me tell you this book does not disappoint. It starts with the MMC, Theo, who's going through a breakup and bit of a rough patch and the FMC, Annoth (Annie), who is a daemon trying to posses him but can't bc our MMC is down on his luck and a little void of feelings. Throughout the book you see their relationship start to build and Annie learns all about the human world. Along their journey they meet Ben, our other MMC who is SUPPOSED to be the priest who performs the exorcism to get Annie out of Theos body, but there's a hiccup of course! All three main characters start to develop feelings for each other and really start to lean on each other to overcome their personal problems. The question is, will it be enough for Annie stay in the human world? Or will she end up pulling Theo to the dark side?

This book is dual POV between Annie and Theo. It's a found family trope that will pull at your heartstrings, the way Annie ends up viewing the human world will give you all the emotions. I really enjoyed this book and their personalities and the bonding over their love for Star Wars is an added bonus. This book is SPICY!!! Very descriptive scenes and as always check the trigger warnings before reading.

Went into this expecting the filthiest demon smut I’ve ever read and got everything I wanted and more. 👀 Not only was Love and Other Atrocities the sexiest, spiciest, most beautifully horny book I’ve possibly ever read, but it somehow managed to tug on my heart strings at the same time.

Never have I read something that encapsulates the feeling of love as eloquently as this book did! Love isn’t just the big grand gestures, but the small moments that too often go unnoticed. Theo, Ben, and Annie gave me a newfound appreciation for the small (and BIG😉) acts of love all around us.

Now to what you’re all here for, the tail! And FMC with a tail that can SHAPESHIFT?? It’s everything I’ve ever needed times a million! And no, don’t get your mind out of the gutter because she CAN and DOES use her tail in the most deliciously naughty ways.

A priest, a demon, and a Star Wars nerd, I mean really what more can you ask for in a PNR?! If you’ve read this far, do your self a favor and GO READ LAOA!! You won’t regret it!
