What's a girl to do when her twin sister steals her fiancé? Make a scene at the family BBQ. Finding out that said family knew about the betrayal? That requires packing up and moving to the other side of the country, as far away as possible, and absolute radio silence on my part. When fame happens upon the book you wrote with vague details of the betrayal, they decide to out themselves, thinking they have an ace up their sleeve.
What they don't have is a leg to stand on. And they haven't met the new Stormi. I'm the wallflower they remember. And I have some of the best friends by my side.
Tropes and - Cheating - OW Drama - Betrayal - Starting Over - Friends to Lovers - HEA
I liked the concept. I’m a sucker for an evil twin sister (blame my mom’s old school HP’s), but the execution left me bored for a sizeable hunk which wasn’t great since this was a novella.
We had 80 pages to work with, so I feel like the plot should’ve been reasonably fast paced, but instead we had the slowest slow burn with Sebastian in the friendzone for two years while Stormi was thinking about the weather and solar panels. Things picked up a bit when her terrible family showed up, but again that was over pretty quickly, and we were back to her and Seb taking the next six months dating “exclusively and slowly”.
Bottom Line- This wasn’t bad, it was just boring. The pacing was off, and the plot didn’t flow naturally or feel balanced. So much time was spent on filler that when their relationship finally moved forward, it felt rushed. Then the “plot device” at 85% felt like it was just randomly thrown in to fill up the end of the book where I felt the pages would’ve been better used for following up with some comeuppance for her awful family and either a more evolved relationship for the couple (because they went from friends to engaged in a few pages) or follow up on her relationship with the dad.
Not rating because I dnf’d at 83%. The book is only 80 pages long and I couldn’t push myself to finish it. It was that bad.
Let me put it to you this way. When a story is only 80 pages long and it needs to encompass betrayal, moving on, healing, fighting against the betrayers and then finding new love…I should not have to read through pages of talk about renovating her deck and possibly getting solar panels but then deciding on not getting solar panels because the weather in Washington state would make it not worth having them. Are you effing kidding me?
Weird. I’ve read her stuff on WATTPAD that was good so what happened here? I have no idea. Bad Time jumps To much details about stuff like her construction on her house. Little chemistry Dead ex trope 🤮 And what was with the cancer at the end? Don’t authors know we don’t want heavy crap like that a chapter before the end. Dumb
Anyways I love a woman leaving her cheating ex only to get a new improved man. But this wasn’t fleshed out.
Cheating not on page Her fiancé cheats w her twin H has a dead ex fiancé he loved and buried her in her wedding dress 😳 No V No steam No connection at all
I really enjoyed how Stormi was decisive about cutting her family out with surgical precision. Bastian was amazing and Jason was ...well,let's just say Jason is a red flag .

★★. She got her lick back after her fiancée cheated with her twin sister. The “let’s do this” at the end of every chapter was something alright. The random cancer plot made no sense at all or brought anything to the story.
This is a book recommended to by Kindle of an author I have never read before.
It was an amazing story! Labelled as a cheaters story, that was a tiny part it was a book of reinventing yourself; about overcoming all the negative and toxic opinions that have given the insecurity and low self esteem all your life, about loving yourself and learning to trust those who really deserve it.
I really loved the book and characters but I found the closer to the end the more the ending was rushed. More happened of page then on and awe were just narrated the basics. But it still was fabulous and I recommend giving it a read!
Oof, this was rough. For a short story, it could have managed to be shorter. I suspect this is one of the author's earlier works considering I've read much better from him/her/them. I didn't really need "good" but I would have liked "entertaining," and as it was, there was a lot of blah-blah-ing over the romance and not nearly enough family drama for me.
This was a perfectly bite-sized love story. Sometimes I worry with short stories like this that they will seemed rushed, but this somehow encompassed the betrayal and starting over perfectly. The move from friends to more was seamless and I loved the way that Sebastian supported her. Stormi’s family was so terrible to her. Story was a monster. I really hope her and their mother end up miserable for the remainder of their lives.
I thought I might have a heart attack towards the end with that Sebastian twist and was crying a bit. I am so glad this had a HEA, though. I loved Sebastian and Stormi and was so happy that everything worked out for them in the end! 💜
This is a very cute, sweet little short story about a young woman named Stormi, who has a twin sister and also a fiancé named Jason. Immediately we learn that Jason has been cheating with the twin, even though he lives with Stormi. This all comes to light at a family backyard BBQ.
First, identical twins aren’t actually identical. There are always cosmetic differences in their appearance. I’ve worked with sets of twins and believe me, it’s fairly easy to tell them apart. And when personalities enter the picture, it’s even easier.
The other twin is completely evil. She’s practically dedicated her life to ruining everything in Stormi’s life. And stealing the fiancé is pretty much the last straw.
KU read, and with some good editing this could be a five star. I loved Stormi and Sebastian, and I adored their chemistry and relationship. This is adorable.
Note from the author: "Triggers and Tropes are as follows: Cheating, OW Drama, Betrayal, Starting Over, HEA, Friends to lovers. If any of these offend you, please don’t read any further. If these don’t bother you, proceed.-EJ"
Stormi & Sebastian, Book 1 of the Shorts series, was about...of course, 23-year-old Stormi Buchannan, a web designer and writer, and Sebastian Stone, owner and senior editor of ReadItAndWeep Publishing.
Three weeks after Jason, Stormi's fiancé, proposed, he was breaking it off because he had "fallen for the wrong sister". So he chose her twin sister, Story, over her, and both of their families had known about it before she did "for over a year".
With the help of her BFF and her employer, Stormi was packed and had moved across the country within a week of the breakup. She had gone radio silent with her entire family, Jason, and his family as well.
Once she made it to the other side of the country, Stormi set about putting her life back together. First, she bought, remodeled, and furnished a small home. Then she wrote a self-help book and found a publisher...who happened to be Sebastian. They soon became friends, and before they knew it, two years had passed.
The short story did a lot of time-jumping, and it was written more in a diary style than a novel. The author would write about something that would be bait for the reader to look forward to something happening, only to veer off in another direction and never touch the subject again. With all of the time jumps, the author managed to lose more plot ideas than make them work. Issues got touched on, but then never finished. Quite a few of those issues were major plot twists that just...vanished into thin air and left unresolved. There were also a lot of storylines that got picked up and changed mid-stride. It would look like it was going in one direction and felt like, as one step was about to be made, the author grabbed the reader by the arm and yanked them onto another path...one that threw the reader for such a loop that it came out of left field.
There was too much going on for such a short novella, causing too much confusion and inconsistencies. It broke up the flow of the book because the author didn't always wait for a new chapter before leaping from one path to another without warning.
I would have given this a higher rating if it weren't for the fact that it just felt unfinished. It was almost like a half-written manuscript got published before it was ready, and that was a major disappointment because this story had so much potential to be really good. I could only give it a two-star rating...and even that was a stretch.
Summary: This is a friends to lovers romance. Spoilers/trigger warnings (if any) and final thoughts can be found below.
Our FMC is Stormi. The beginning of the book finds her at a family barbecue, where her fiancé discloses that he has been cheating on her with her twin sister and is ending their engagement. Her twin sister has basically made her life a living hell. Even worse, her parents always choose her sister over her.
So she is done, and rushes back to her apartment, packs as much as she can, and pulls a runner to the other side of the country.
Deciding to not let her trauma define her, she embarks on a journey of self discovery and healing. She details this adventure in a book under a pen name which is what brings the MMC, Sebastian into her life. He’s her editor and they quickly form a friendship.
At some point, her family, mostly mom and sister, figure out the story written is really by her and decide to call her out publicly but she absolutely has the last laugh.
This situation brings the main characters closer and they move from friends to more before finding their HEA.
⚠️SPOILERS/DETAILED TRIGGERS⚠️
*The cheating is not described on page.
Final thoughts: This book was good. It was very fast paced and a short read. I was blown away at the audacity of the sister and mom and was so happy they got some comeuppance. I would recommend this book for the drama but I also love when the FMC pulls a runner and she definitely did that and went on to make a beautiful life for herself, so this was a great HEA for our FMC.

This story had all of the feels! The h was a survivor who was born into a toxic, dysfunctional family. She was fortunate enough to get dumped to her loser of a fiancee who married her twin and their affair and marriage was supported and endorsed by her family, nice. She evolved and she grew which really ticked off mama and twin, dad finally rallied and supported her. Outing the vipers was masterly accomplished, her ex was weak and regretful.
The literary process allowed her to meet a wonderful man, establish new friendships, retain those positive friends from her former home and to reconcile with her father. A cancer scare ignited a huge threat in the h that the H was hiding a secret that would hurt her again. He proved his strength and demonstrated his love of her and their family throughout his illness.
Love the writing style, the storyline and character development.
This was perfection! It had every trope I love! I was not prepared for this novella at all! I picked this on a whim and I am so glad I did. This had me gasping, giggling, celebrating the justice served, and loving how they get together. Then just when I think all is well on its way to HEA, that horrible twist!!!! That’s when I cried and had to take a few minutes. Thankfully that passed quickly and I was filled with all the good feelings at the end. Can’t wait to keep reading more from this author!
Unfortunately, this wasn't for me. It really needs an edit. Not just for proofreading and format errors, but I feel like there were things that might be okay in a longer book that didn't need to be in a short story. If it's a quick read, I think the focus should be on the main events and not renovations on a new home or a surprise cancer side quest that added nothing to the story.
The "Let's do this" at the end of almost every chapter was weird. I'm not sure why we needed that repetition.
The comeuppance was lackluster, and the aftermath for them was not at all satisfying.
Gaps in story that could have been avoided. Authors tend to rush and skip key points when writing shorter stories. A big part missing, and the point if the whole book, was she never got the main female character to fully feel empowered to face her family. Turns out but you never got a sense that one could really feel themselves healed and empowered to not have them control your emotions anymore.
Indeed a very short read - like many years have gone by in so few pages It was fine - I’m annoyed that the dad didn’t decide to do anything until the law suit/tv interview thing - that was strange I think I would have liked a reaction from the ex and sister and mom about her life turned out better - but maybe I’m just petty like that

This was a very short & sweet read. I just loved Sebastian. He was perfect for Stormi and I loved how he took care of her and protected her. Even though this is a pretty short book there were some parts I glossed over because they were overly detailed. There's also a bit of drama in the epilogue that I felt was a little unnecessary but overall felt like this was a great read.
Very enjoyable book. Quick read. Not sure about the C part though. Most of the book was lighter (even though her family sucked). I think I would have enjoyed it more without that part. But that is personal preference. Author writing style keeps you interested from beginning to end. You feel connected with the H and h. **

How was there so much in this and some other books feel like they drag. I could have lived without the storyline close the end though. That felt a little too much for me. Otherwise a fast, interesting read.
After a gut wrenching betrayal, the FMC began a a journey of self healing and ends up with her happily ever after. This story was fantastic. It gives you all the feels. Highly recommend. You’ll enjoy reading it.
The synopsis is misleading. There's nothing after the original betrayal. She moved on just fine; she wasn't traumatized or anything. Also, nothing about the characters or plot was worth it, and the writing was not remotely engaging.
not what I was expecting and not in a positive way, either. there were too many details on the non necessary stuff. like, why do we need details on her home reno? why not give us details on her upbringing instead. on the fact that the mom was having an affair like what was the point.
a short read so not too much detail which wasn't so bad as it flowed.Glad the mfc was strong and resilliant.Loved the payback part but was sad in places but being so short it glossed over that
Fast and sweet, I just wish it was developed into a longer and detailed story, it has a good bone. There's mention of cancer if anybody is triggered by it. I'll explore more story from the author.
I loved it. Beautifully small, precise, loving, funny and amazing. Im excited to read the other two. Loved the fall out with her mum and sister. And that her dad was amazing.
This is a quick read about Stormi finding herself. You would think it skips to a perfect life but it doesn’t. It shows that she still has a lot of ups and downs after the fall out. It’s a good read.
