Catching Carrie

Rate this book
Running from relationships isn’t so simple when love is in hot pursuit.

Carrie Darwin doesn’t do commitment. By day, she helps women explore their pleasure at the sex toy store she manages; by night, she indulges in a series of hot, casual liaisons. But everything changes when she meets Taylor Price—a bold, breathtaking blonde new in town. What starts as a sizzling one-night encounter ignites feelings that are anything but casual. Intensely passionate, deeply stirring, and impossible to ignore.

Taylor goes after what she wants. Whether in her career as a physiotherapist for a winning women’s football team or in her love life, she’s fearless in the pursuit of happiness. Breaking through Carrie’s walls may be her biggest challenge—and her sweetest victory…if it doesn’t break her heart first.

With intimate, passion-fueled moments and undeniable chemistry, Catching Carrie is a slow-burn sapphic romance that fans of steamy lesbian fiction, confident heroines, and second-chance love won’t be able to resist.

Sexy, heartfelt, and addictive, this contemporary sapphic romance features strong women, slow-burn tension, and a one-night-to-forever love story. Perfect for readers of steamy lesbian romance, queer love stories, and emotionally charged sapphic fiction.

Opposites attract and create a new challenge for Carrie. Taylor has all the patience and drive to go after Carrie who does not do relationships. As hearts get into the game , who is chasing who? See what happens when desires collide!

A beautiful opposites attract love story! Carrie was burned bad by her first love, Reggie. Since then she's only interested in one night stands. That is until she meets Taylor. She won't be a one night stand. This is a FAVORITE and I LOVE this story! 5 stars!

Carrie is determined to live her life as she chooses... The odd hook up here and there... Nights out with friends... That is... Until she meets Taylor one night in a bar.
That bar scene sets the tone for their relationship...
Taylor can see the potential and is determined to 'Catch' Carrie...
The chemistry in that scene is purrrrrrfect 💋 Taylor has such swagger 😂

I think Taylor out of the two is my favourite... Nothing wrong with Carrie!!
Taylor just has this calm understanding nature... And handles any situation thrown at her....well almost 😏
She has amazing communication skills that don't come across as unrealistic.

There are some wonderful scenes between the two of them , from moments of leaning into each other's personal spaces or just the dialogue.

Even though Carrie is wary & gun-shy of commitment and relationships she seems to find her person in Taylor.

Will she let Taylor Catch Her?

A Life Of Out Running Love - Not Possible!

Claire has done it again. Pulled us in with her storytelling and style. This storyline has Carrie Darwin, beautiful, confident and the manager of a sex shop for women’s pleasure seeking her own with her next one night conquest. At the club with her friends, Carrie locks in on a beautiful blonde with an amazing smile, thinking she could be good for the evening.Taylor Price has noticed the overly confident sexy woman staring at her. Her friends pushed her to get a drink and flirt. New in this town and already a few drinks in her, Taylor made a move. When Carrie introduces herself and Taylor smiles at her, Taylor asks for her phone to put her number in. But that wasn’t Carrie’s style so she tells her she wanted to just hang for the evening. But Taylor tells her she is here with friends, it’s a shame and walks away. This scene was the first chapter. Now taken in, of course we had to keep going deeper. Both women could not get the other out of their mind. Claire takes us through two women who need to be open and honest but are they. There is a lot of vulnerability going on here and I love it. There are a few nuances here that brings everything together with a HEA that makes us smile.

Fun, fun, fun!

Taylor is a physiotherapist for a winning women’s football team, and she is intrigued by Carrie when they meet one night in town. Carrie only does one night stands, but there is something about Taylor and the passion they shared that has her thinking twice, not that she is going to make it easy for Taylor. But it is in Taylor’s nature to follow her passions, and Carrie isn’t one she wants to give up on.

One thing I always love about Claire’s stories, is the simplicity. They are always fun, but they go for situations that would be true to life and relatable in a less dramatic way than some other situations. Carrie is just protecting herself and having fun, Taylor is just ambitious, fate brings them together, and life just happens. It was wonderful to read this story because everything just felt at a pace life would have. Normal dating, bumping into one another, playing hard to get, but having fun. All just easy and a joy to read.

Carrie was really on a journey though. Taylor being that one woman who was there to change her life and show her happiness and commitment could be good for her. It knocks Carrie because she is so used to being casual and in control, never seeing people again and with Taylor that’s not how she feels. Then there was that moment that every character like Carrie needs, where they realise they care deeply and have fallen in love. That was my favourite part of this story.

Really enjoyed it. A must read for anyone that likes a fun and cute, flirty romance.

Great book

Loved the story of Carrie and Taylor. It is hard to get over your 1st love, but when Carrie met Taylor, she could not deny their connection, and she had to try to make it work. It is worth the time to read it.

Warmth, erotica, and real love it seems have melted into one.

Claire Highton-Stevenson has cast her line out and caught my heart while reeling in Carrie! These characters are no flash in the river, they are full bodied and make the landing in the net seem effortless by Taylor. These characters supporting characters are just enough to keep the play lively. Ok, enough fishing references, this is a damn good story start to finish. If you haven’t read any thing by Claire before (is that even possible?), read this!

Another cracking read

I’m beginning to wonder if CHS is human. So many outstanding books, one after the other, after the other… Each one an instant read for me.
Loved this so much. Carrie and Taylor fit perfectly amongst CHS’s other leading ladies.
I loved how Carrie goes from ‘I don’t do relationships “ to, ‘well, maybe I could try”, ending up a total squishmallow.
My favourite character was Taylor though, I can’t think of a single reason for that choice, her entire personality and character just resonates with me. I’ll reread and maybe get back to you on this…
Overall, a superb read, loads of emotion, feelings galore, and a nice spicy kick. Personally, I’d love to read more about this couple.

Love this story

Can we all just agree that Claire is such a great writer?!? Taylor and Carrie are total opposites who meet and fall in love but to get to that point there are a few winding roads they have to navigate. With some cameos from previous Claire books Catching Carrie is the perfect feel good book we all need to read! 5 🌟

I enjoyed the way Carrie and Taylor developed as a couple. When events occurred, they actually talked instead of dropping off an emotional ledge.

Sweet, sexy, and love angst, what more could you want

Catching Carrie by Claire Highton-Stevenson is a captivating sapphic romance that had me hooked from the very first page. Carrie’s journey from casual encounters to risking her heart with Taylor is beautifully written, full of witty dialogue, sizzling chemistry, and genuine emotion. The characters feel real and relatable, and their push-and-pull dynamic makes the eventual connection even more rewarding. A perfect blend of heat and heart—this is a must-read for anyone who loves friends-to-lovers and the joy of watching love catch someone completely off guard.

Mild gripe: the title is hard to read.

Carrie views herself as a 'power lesbian' and only engages in one night stands, avoiding commitment. She's interested in Taylor, but senses she's into relationships.

Taylor thinks Carrie is hot, but the woman seemingly blows her off. But they run into each other again, and this time Taylor gives into temptation.

Now Carrie finds herself wondering if she should risk more...

Good, solid read. No third act breakup, some drama but felt in character. 3.5 stars
