Those words stayed in the front of my mind, reminding me that I had to go back down into the city, deep into gang territory, to rescue another woman. I had concerns about how well she would get along with the others, though. Gigantic mutants could sometimes be... testy.
But on the brighter side of things, Hope was doing great! Our settlement grew stronger every day, with improved power systems, gardens, and finally some clean water. Our numbers slowly but steadily increased, as did our safety.
But then a secret from Jacob's dark past gets brought to the surface, shocking everyone. And it seemed our fighting wasn't done yet. If we wanted peace, we were going to have to shed a lake of blood first.
Still not much basebuilding or plot, I also am not really understanding what they've been eating, they later have to grow crops...so they've have some hypothetical food source. They talk a lot about other's food sources, but the only thing they ever eat is goose, but that can't be a reliable source of food for 12+ people. The stuff about the authors cat was emotional and I felt the emotion in it, I think the author can do good work with the right formula.
I'm probably at the sunk cost point for this series...so finishing it.
Well hope is coming together and the community is getting stronger. A few bombshells, about the Druid leader and that is all the spoilers for now. Now where will the community go? Our hero has to go meet his girls dad! Looking forward to the next book.
The community of Hope survived a Druid attack, and Sharp comes to be part of it. Tensions rise as the Druids torture members of Hope and threaten more violence. This is a threat too many. A great series, recommend
quick read and really just a big chapter of the overall story. Waiting on the next one to continue this story that is turning into an ode to his cat lol
