Jonah Greenwood. He's big, nerdy, and exactly my damn type. Well, he would be, if I'd only been able to work up the courage to ask him out at any point in the two years since I first met him.
It seems like a lost cause, but when he catches me checking him out in a Friday afternoon meeting, finds me after work in the parking lot, and accepts my absolutely reckless proposition for a no-strings hookup, all bets are off.
Susie's Orc is a short, spicy, slice-of-life monster romance novella with a guaranteed HEA. For full content details, please visit the author's website.
Hi, I'm Leigh! I am an indie romance author who writes mainly in the fantasy and paranormal genres. I've been a romance fanatic since the first time I snuck one of my mom's Harlequin paperbacks, and never looked back.
When I'm not writing, I spend a ton of time outdoors camping, hiking, and taking photos. I'm also big into tarot, astrology, and all things witchy,
When you’ve been pining for each other for over two years and finally give in? Oh, it’s gonna be fast, passionate, and spicy—and that’s exactly what this was! 🔥💀
The storyline was surprisingly solid and could’ve gone on a little longer, but let’s be real… we know why we’re here. 😜 This novella did not disappoint. A fun, filthy, and feel-good monster romance. Enjoy the chaos!
very cute, i just dont find Jonah’s sudden switch to his dominant side genuine. i feel like it could’ve been written in a more authentic tone, otherwise i enjoyed the book.
I originally read this as the short story “The Orc from Accounting” and loved it, so I was very excited to see Susie’s Orc was being released, this time with Jonah’s POV. It’s such a cute, spicy story between two coworkers that have been mutually yearning for YEARS before finally making a move. They each have their insecurities, but both are so sweet with one another as they work through them together.
Susie and Jonah’s relationship is slightly awkward and off to a bumpy start, but overall so very adorable. And the spice? SPICIN’. Jonah may be a shy orc accountant but he has a sexy alter-ego that comes out for Susie and Susie alone 🔥
I enjoy Leigh Miller’s Monster Relations Bureau stories and this novella is no exception. Definitely give her a try if you’re dipping your toe into monster romance!
A very sweet update to The Orc from Accounting! I’ve been in love with Jonah for only a bit less than Susie, to the tune of ~14 months. I loved getting his perspective. It really rounded out an already excellent short story.
I adore Leigh Miller for her ability to create extraordinarily ordinary love between people in the midst of fantastical circumstances. And very spicy spice that still manages to be sweet. When I read her books, it all just comes together very naturally.
This novella is very much in line with her other writing with perfect pacing, a sweet and spicy romance, and would be a perfect chaser between darker books. (Or in my case, in the middle of one.) These nervous nerds are adorable as they just run full speed into their ‘fuck it’ moment. Did I stay up too late to read it because I found out it was up just as I was going to bed? Yes, but I have no regrets. “Today’s apparently the day I jump off the deep end completely, and if I’m going to do it with anyone, I’m glad it’s with Jonah from Accounting.” 😉
Details? FMC’s name is Susie and she is 27 years old. MMC’s name is Jonah, and he is 30 years old. No condoms used, neither have been with anyone else since meeting, and both are on their own birth controls. No other women or other men.
Bits-and-bobs? Susie and I both have a thing for big hands.
My thoughts? This was quick and sweet (spicy as heck). It was easy to read about Susie and Jonah beginning their relationship, and there was really no conflict within the relationship once they decided to be together. There was a slight miscommunication after their part-one of their hook up, but it is dealt with on the Monday after (they hooked up on the Friday). So it was literally only a weekend that wasn’t dragged on. I really enjoyed reading this, and it went down nice and easy.
Made me chuckle in the post office while waiting in line
While reading some of this I was standing in line At the post office And the banter and teasing between these 2 characters made me chuckle as if I was the one receiving the text messages. Here for it. Susie reminds me of one of my co-friends. Witty, anxious, but also has sweet element that fits well especially when deciding she wants something. Jonah? Well need me a him lol. That's all I'll say on that. Other than wishing I read in order I loved the cute, steamy story
This was such a surprise! Not only did it suddenly get released, but it had the same feel as the rest of the books! I loved the little novella the first time around, but getting Jonah's pov made it for me. I knew he was a cutie pie, but being in his head and seeing how he felt about Susie made it all the more better. I cherish the Monster Relations Bureau series and any excuse I have to go back there is a win, and this is such a cute addition to the world. Loved it!
♥️🥵 This book was equal parts sweet & steamy. These characters are unbelievably adorable in all their awkward shyness! ♥️ I loved the mutual pining! So when they finally both worked up the courage those fireworks could light it up! And they sure did! Like a match to dry tinder, once these two got going there was no stopping them!
So sweet! So steamy! I really enjoyed this novella! 🩷🩷🩷 I will definitely be reading more in this series!
Dual POV, 1st person | monster, orc, coworkers, novella
This book starts off with a bang and doesn’t let up. A fun little book without much drama.
—— “What I don’t expect? I don’t expect Jonah to reach right out and cup my pussy over my black work slacks. I don’t expect him to lean in close and press his lips on the tender spot beneath my ear. “Is this what you were thinking about in that meeting?””
That was a fun and quick read. It's my 4th book from Leigh Miller, and it's always cute. This one was on the shorter side, so they go down quite quick to business. But I mean, that's the whole point of the book right? A bit too short for me, but it works.
Pick it up if you like: - Insta love/lust - Monster Romance (open door) - Cute characters
A fun holiday read. You don't have to think about this, you can just enjoy the ride. I love Leigh Miller's writing and like to save her books for while on holiday.
The story follows Jonah and Susie, who have had a secret crush on each other since Susie started working at the bureau 2yrs prior. They have admired each other from afar until one late Friday afternoon meeting sets things into action for the 2 of them.
I think this covers a meaningful topic which would not normally gain any traction as it is the male character with self-esteem issues. Very well covered and it just goes to show the right person doesn't see them, they just see you.
I really enjoyed this. It was a short novella following Susie and Jonah who are both equally a bit awkward. I loved their chemistry and the texting was a highlight.
It was hot and spicy. He realized in a work meeting that she smelled aroused and kept staring at his hands. He is a bit insecure about his appearance because he lost a lot of weight and has loose skin.
I had the absolute pleasure of reading this story in its first iteration as a novella and my gosh am I glad we got a longer version that included Jonah's point of view.
The perfect quick read set in the world of the Monster Relations Bureau, you will love the office romance that burns through the pages after years of secret crushing.
I think Leigh could probably write about a grocery shopping trip between any couple set in this universe and I'd be frothing at the mouth to get my hands on it, if I'm being honest. As someone who is a big fan of monster romance, this series contains everything you would want and this book is a great way to dip your toes into the world if you're curious about adventuring into the rest of the stories.
If you like: - MMCs who willing to be vulnerable and open with their partners - FMCs who will stand for themselves and their worth in the face of slights - steamy video calls between new lovers.. .. you'll absolutely love this story.
That one was not meeting my taste. The overcompensation issue with the MML's weight loss body anxiety was interesting addition but the overall relationship dynamics was just not for me. I hate male dominance and power plays.
