An illustrated anthology of LGBT stories that inspire!
Even a kickass hero needs a hand from a secondary character, and Eric Arvin needs that extra power boost right now. This anthology is a volunteer effort organized by Eric’s fans and fellow writers in order to raise funds and help cover the cost of his high-tech recovery. His wicked sense of humor is intact, but his body needs a bit of assistance.
These stories are meant to inspire. They’re a warm hug, a wave from afar, a wink and a nod. Discover new authors and graphic artists as you, too, get revved up to slay whatever ails you!
Keira aims for the perfect mix of character, plot, and heat in her M/M romances. She writes everything from swashbuckling pirates to heartwarming holiday escapism. Her fave tropes are enemies to lovers, age gaps, forced proximity, and passionate virgins. Although she loves delicious angst along the way, Keira guarantees happy endings!
I wrote one of the stories, but until I bought my own copy, I didn't know who else donated stories. I'll just leave a few one-liner's about each story.
1. The Gift of Odin- Gotta love Norse Gods. 2. Pink- Let's just say I'll never look at my kitchen aid again without thinking of this story. 3. The Janiman- Smarts conquers the test of strength. 4. Bait and Tackle- Bully gets back what he was dishing out. 5. If The Shoe Fits- Slow and steady wins the race. 6. Amoung Giants- Sun Magic saves the day, Moon Magic saves the night. 7. Bashir- Helping family and friends. 8. Turnabout- Be strong for those you love. 9. The Power of Zero- You can overcome. 10. A Holiday Homecoming- Home is where the Heart is. 11. Somethings are Worth Fighting For- Friends Fight for Each other. 12. Love On the Divide- My story - Challenges 13. StarFall- Anyone can slay a dragon.
I'm not sure why I put this aside for so long, but I'm glad I finally finished it! Of course, now I can't remember the specifics of each story so I can't put it on all the appropriate shelves...
Great collection of stories by authors I know and some I don't. Would have bought it anyway - because of the cause it supports but I got so much out of it, discovered more authors to read. Too difficult to name any one that's my fav - we'll all have ones we'll skip over - but isn't that the same with any anthology. Great collaboration guys.
A collection of some pretty great stories, and for one of the best causes I can think of. Buy it, read it, finish it with a smile on your face. That's all.
"Kickass Anthology" isn't your usual kickstarting compendium; it's better and more on-theme than the norm. A bunch of GLBTQ writers and sympathizers (did I leave anyone out?) contributed these stories with the goal of supporting author Eric Arvin (SIMPLE MEN; GALLEY PROOF), who needed megabucks medical treatment.
I regretfully must agree with Goodreads reviewer Nagisa Furukawa, who opined that the book isn't really "kickass" at all despite the many Southerners who contributed to it. Most of the stories are positivistic, optimistic, intelligently written and with no small amount of humor. "Smartass" would have been a slightly better title, actually. Not that there's anything wrong with that, especially when Eric Arvin has friends like these. Readily available on Kindle as well as in paperback; why not buy it and kick it around to help a deserving writer?
Starfall by Keira Andrews is free (subscription to author's newsletter not mandatory) July 1-31, 2024 on Bookfunnel as a part of Summer Sparks Giveaway.
This was such a mixed bag, but for a great cause, so I feel guilty rating it so low. Eric Arvin could really use the help financially... but many of these stories were so bland I skipped them after a few pages. It was kind of the authors to donate their time, but many of these stories felt like "B" sides.
Buy it to help Eric, and read what you fancy. There are some good stories in here, and your mileage may vary depending on your tastes.
EVERYONE get "Kickass Anthology" by TONS of amazing authors, with all proceeds going to Eric Arvin! And with a huge price drop to $0.99 you have no excuse! http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00QU9GBXK
