Harlow is a real class act!
Hope Callaghan really weaved another great story together, Wynn Harbor Inn: Winter Wonderland. You have to be a true Michigander to be able to write a story about the frost biting, bitter cold of upper Michigan. I am sure that every northern state can vouch for the deep biting bitter cold but an author that is from our wonderful winterland of Michigan, Hope writes it best. In this enjoyable read we find
Harlow Wynn waiting impatiently for her divorce decree from Robert, her conniving, money grubbing husband who is also her manager for her acting career. He has used every trick in the book to get back together with Harlow, not wanting his lucrative money gravy train to disappear. Harlow finally gave in to letting Robert manage her career for ten months after their divorce was final. Finally after hearing that Robert had signed the paperwork, Harlow was on the phone to her realtor asking to put a bid on a little cottage that she had found that was right on Lake Huron with a perfect view of the Mighty Mac-the Mackinaw Bridge only to find out that the house had just had a purchase agreement written up but with many contingencies. So there was still a little bit of hope. Harlow tried to find out who on the island had just put a bid in right before her but could only come up with an initial and a name. The name was attached to a spiteful girl that had tried to make trouble for Harlow during her short stay back home on the island. Harlow's Dad, David was working with the fire chief Caleb, to find out how their beloved Inn had burned to the ground and killed his wife, & Harlow's precious mom.
Robert, Harlow's now ex is determiined to make her life miserable. He asked to see her and wouldn't tell her why, she knew that he wouldn't stay in a quiet little town so she said yes. Again he manages to throw a wrench in her life but when she finds out he was already at Machinaw Island she wants to know why. She soon finds out with the help of her friends, again he is not playing on the same kind playing field
as she is. It gets really interesting from there but I won't give anymore away.
There are lots of humor, intrigue and love in this series. I can't wait until the next book in the series is published.
This is a extremely enjoyable series just like all of Ms. Callaghan books, you will not want to put it down. Get ready for a great cozy mystery, you won't want to miss this great read!

A cozy mystery series with a famous Michigan setting - Mackinac Island at Christmas. Winter Wonderland is a page turning read with relatable characters: Harlow, her father David Wynn, Aunt Birdie, their neighbor Lottie Fletcher and the close knit group the Magnificent Mackies.
Harlow with her father and fire chef Caleb Jackson continue to investigate the inn’s fire and her mother’s death. This reader experienced a house fire in 1997. Fire chief Caleb Jackson’s investigation and comment in Chapter 14 is spot on. Caleb witnessed more than his share of tragedies – the loss of a life, of a beloved pet, or of a home, all gone in a blink of an eye. It was the part of the job he dreaded most.
Hope Callaghan always includes local facts into her stories. This reader, who lived in Onaway, Michigan, for a year, remembers how the Mackinac work horses were moved to the mainland in winter. And how snowmobiles tried to cross the famous ice bridge when the Straits of Mackinaw froze. With the charcuterie craze, I enjoyed the inclusion of the charcuterie board filled with tasty treats shaped like Santa.

Another great book for this short series!
Harlow is looking into buying a property in Mackinac Island but when she finally goes to submit an offer she discovers someone else beat her to it. So now she is the backup offer. At least her divorce is nearly done so she can wipe that off her To Do list.
She's still waiting for the results to the investigation into her mother's suspicious death. Her husband goes to meet in person with her although she'd rather handle everything by phone or email.
Then there's her old friend, Caleb who also happens to be her high school sweetheart that broke her heart so long ago. Caleb is now the fire chief and is helping with the investigation Harlow is invested in.
There's some spying going on by Harlow's friends, but also someone is spying in Harlow.
Lots of drama, but it's just the right amount to keep me wanting more. Great book I couldn't put down until it was done, so I never did put this book down. I read it in one sitting.

Ms.Callaghan never lets me down
Somehow, I missed this book coming out. I discovered it last night. This book is recommended for any age, as are all of her books. Christmas had to be delayed on the island due to bad weather and lack of deliveries. All Harlowe wants for Christmas is her divorce papers, and to be able to finally put in a bid for her dream home. The morning her divorce papers arrive, she puts in her bid, only to learn she may be too late. Her friends help her figure out how that could have happened and why. Who tried to keep her from getting it? Christmas was celebrated, and I sure do wish I really was one of her friends. This series brings me right into it, making me feel like I was there. I just worry that this is book 4. It says 4 out of 5. I don't want the series to end.

A wintry Christmas on the island!
I’ve enjoyed all of the Wynn Harbor Inn stories and look forward to reading each one. In this one, number four, Harlow has pretty much totally recovered from her accident and is looking forward to spending Christmas with family and friends on Mackinac Island after getting a boatload of snow recently. Her favorite Christmas present were the signed divorce papers from Robert, who already has her next movie under contract, ready to film in a month or so. Another very enjoyable read, where I feel like I’m catching up with old friends! I received an advance copy of this book and write this review voluntarily.

This book takes place 6 months after a terrible automobile accident .The movie star Harlow, returns home to recuperate and reconciles with her father whom she mistakenly blames for her mother's death in a fire. Harlow is loving being back home and is quickly making friends and making Mackinac island her permanent home.

This reads more like a novella. It's a very quick read focusing on day-in-the-life opportunities mostly with Harlow. Robert is on the island and Harlow's friends follow him a bit to see what he's doing also. Pretty much a Christmas to New Years overview. Lots of focus on food and drink as well as a restaurant and a few parties. Final decisions about the house Harlow is interested in. Short information about the fire investigation.

What an amazing story! As the drama continues to unfold in this magical island it becomes clear that there is something special about the story. Another glimpse into life on Mackinaw Island. This time in winter at Christmastime. Harlow is delighted to be spending the holiday with her father and friends, even if the holiday is delayed when the weather prohibits mail, including gifts from off the island from making it on time.

Enjoyable and Seasonal
Harlow Wynn is still adjusting to all the changes in her life. She is regaining herself as well as cherished family and friends. There is mystery corners the fire that destroyed her family's business and took her mother's life. That is very slow going and realistic as its been years. I look forward to reading the next installment of this series.

Excellent series
Harlow wraps up her latest movie and heads back to Mackinac island. She hires a fire investigator to determine the cause of the fire that killed her mom. Her and Robert's divorce is getting finalized. She presents gifts to her friends. Can hardly wait for the next book.

I am.loving the story of Harlow Lynn's life. Glad she divorced her search husband! She is successful, but vulnerable, funny and a little sneaky. This was a great tale of community and the love of the women around her.

Good-feeling story
Robert, aka The Jerk, once again comes to the island. He shows his true colors, but Harlowe is truly over him. Christmas on the island surrounded by wonderful friends is Harlowe’s happy place. The future looks bright but always with stumbling blocks.

Fun and uplifting
I love this series but the books are too short.. I want to know so much more. Harlow is a good person and her friends are very loyal. I look forward to finding out about Robert and Cheyenne and Harlow's new movie and her co-star.

Wonderful series.
Great read! Very talented writer. I love the way the story intertwines eitout confusing you and gives you just enough information for you to invision the scene but does not overdo it.

I really enjoyed this series a lot looking forward to the next book. The characters get you involved in their lives in a way that’s makes you want to be their friends. Or in some cases their enemies. I don’t even like snow and I wanted to visit Mackinac Island in the winter.

Harlow seems so real. Reading was like having a story unfold right before your eyes.

Surprisingly short story- not a novel, this continues Harlows move back to Mackinaw Island. No big mysteries or surprises. A nice Christmas escape.
