In post-Civil-War Texas ex-con Roy Huckaby comes into possession of a Mexican treasure map. He searches for the treasure but gets mixed up in a feud between two families. Eventually he finds the location of the treasure, but he does not dig it up. Weak characters; only interesting one is an escaped black convict, but he comes and goes for no purpose.
