Baltimore City is known as Charm City, the biggest city in Maryland. However, in a different realm above Baltimore City, there exists Charmden, a place filled with fairies. In this magical realm, Eboenia, a 22-year-old fairy, finds herself caught in a whirlwind of adventure. On her Wedding day, she gets captured by War, a mysterious and powerful warlock—or so he seems. Despite being natural enemies, Eboenia and War form an unexpected bond. As they grow closer, War starts teaching her the dark arts, challenging her to explore a darker side of herself. With secrets coming to light, Eboenia must decide if she'll follow in War's footsteps or find her own way back to her fiancé. This dark paranormal romance tells the story of a warlock and a fairy finding unexpected comfort in each other while navigating a world full of secrets, magic, and the human world.
What I liked about this book was that it was about black elves, fairies and warlocks. I love the paranormal and fantasy genre and want to see more black books in the genre. I also liked that it was dark romance, captive x captor and enemies to lovers. All that wrapped together would make for a great read right?!
Well, it should've but the story as a whole was just ok. Getting into what I didn't like, first and foremost the lack of triggers. It's 2025. There's no reason to not have a TW at the beginning of your books. There were scenes of rape and one character experiences a still birth. None of that was mentioned at the beginning of the book. It didn't trigger me because I'm not a sensitive reader but it could definitely trigger other people. It was very irresponsible of Natavia to not put those warnings out. All she put at the beginning was CW for explicit sex scenes and graphic violence with dark themes. That's it. Authors might think that's enough but it's not.
I also wasn't a fan of Eboenia's lack of backbone. When War put the curse on her to bound her to him, she fought a little bit in the beginning and then just accepted it. Girl never tried hard to break free. She was fine being his sex slave but also wanted him to love her. Sis had Stockholm syndrome and didn't even know it. She was also too damn soft hearted. Folks do you wrong and you just accept it and let them live? Hell no. She only ever killed at War's urging not because it's what she wanted to do.
This one is petty but oh well, the corny ass phrases used for a vagina, dick and cum juices were giving me second hand embarrassment. The cringe was very real. It's fine if authors don't want to be vulgar but you can also do better than corny poetic flowery phrases nobody would ever say in real life.
The plot twist of Sin and Eboenia being twins unbeknownst to her, so she was intimate with and almost married to her blood sibling was too much for me. We didn't need that GoT as plot in this book. Let the white authors have that shit. I don't ever want to willingly read anything involving incest. Not to mention, she was only traumatized by that information for a little while and them moved on. How?
Lastly, I would've liked to see more development between War and Eboenia. Their dynamic was mostly sex, her being desperate for him to love her back, him being possessive and obsessive but still treating her like a sex slave. That's it. The attraction and chemistry was there but that's it. Nothing deep, imo. The romance was very much not there.
Overall, it was an ok read. I loved the paranormal and fantasy elements the most and the fact that it involved black characters but that's it.

This was not dark romance this was sadistic, and that’s with me not getting past chapter 3. I feel like authors don’t really know what dark ROMANCE is, that’s just what they label it, but there is no real romance. I’ve read one or maybe 2 books that wrote in this genre very well. Most authors forget the romance part of it, and go past dark into sadistic and narcissistic. From my understanding there is even incest in this book. I won’t know because I DNF at 3 chapters.
Already there is rape and a fantasy version of drugging. The MMC is basically a damn rapist, and he drugged the FMC to get her to fall in line. There was nothing sexy or romantic about it. I can only imagine where the story will go from here. With the MFC being blood bonded to the MMC it will never be real love, she no longer has free will. RAPE is NOT okay, it never will be, and no matter how these authors try to cover it up with the whole Stockholm syndrome trope it’s still not okay. And for this you can’t even say the girl has Stockholm syndrome because she is not even herself anymore. She’s not of her own mind/body.
This author is always a hit or miss for me. It seems that ever since she started doing fantasy/paranormal it’s been a miss. I honestly didn’t even realize this was her until I read another review. Otherwise I more than likely wouldn’t have bothered reading this one.

Girl, what the Helly. This was my first book by Natavia, and I was not disappointed. Eboenia is a dark, enchanting romance that asks how far you’re willing to go for love that defies everything you’ve ever known. War is that kind of dangerous you can’t look away from mysterious, powerful, and patient in all the wrong ways. The bond between him and Eboenia feels electric, testing every line between right and wrong, light and shadow. Eboenia’s journey from innocent bride to a woman standing at the edge of power and temptation kept me hooked from start to finish.
Eboenia was such a fun and entertaining fantasy read! The spice was definitely spicing 🌶 and the humor had me laughing out loud. I adored War and his Lor P*ssy Fairy 🧚🏾♀️😂—their dynamic was hilarious and captivating. The magic, drama, and world-building pull you in fast and keep you hooked. While there were a few cringy moments here and there, overall, it’s a quick, mystical, and super enjoyable read that’s definitely worth picking up!
Ms. Natavia took me for a ride! A Fairy and a Warlock whose history should really keep them at odds. I love that even though war was mean he loved his lor pussy fairy 🤣. I enjoyed myself throughly! Wars story, the history of Charmden and overlap with Eboenia was chefs kiss. The book is dark but, I believe anyone would enjoy be sure to check your triggers at the door.
A fairy and a warlock?? The tension had me kickin’ my feet like I was in the book! 😮💨🧙🏾♂️✨ Magic, drama, and a whole fantasy world that pulls you in quick. If you like mystical romance with a dark twist — add this to your list ASAP! Natavia understood the assignment. Period. 🧚🏾♀️📖🖤 10/10 would let the warlock ruin my life. 😂
I’m a big fan of Natavia’s writing, and I’ve read many of her books, but unfortunately, Eboenia just didn’t work for me. It started off with promise, but quickly dropped off. For me, spice alone can’t carry a book; I need emotional depth and a believable connection between the characters, and that was missing here.
I couldn’t connect with the male main character at all. He remained mean, cold, and unlikable for nearly the entire book, only softening in the last eleven pages, which made the romance feel forced and unearned. It came across like he was using her purely for sex, which made it hard to root for them as a couple.
Also, while I appreciate the trigger warning, I honestly don’t think any amount of caution could have prepared me for the incest element. That was a hard stop for me. 🥴
I really hate leaving a one-star review, especially because I truly respect Natavia’s creativity and unique storytelling voice. I’ll definitely continue to read and support her other work, but this one just wasn’t for me.
This book started strong and captured my attention from the jump. I was intrigued by the different realms and how the fairies and warlocks existed in the human realm while they were none the wiser.
Enemies to lovers really has to be done right for me to like it. Unfortunately, I didn't like this one. I held out hope for a while that the MMC would grow on me. He never did. He wasn't likable until the very end of the book.
Since Eboenia was bound to War, I was never convinced that she loved him. And with how badly she was treated, she shouldn't have. She was nothing more than a sex slave but was developing feelings for him? It didn't make sense. Especially with her knowing he put a spell on her to make her crave him. It was lust, not love. A lust that she couldn't even control.
I saw one of the plot twists coming, but I didn't anticipate the others. There were so many interesting aspects of this book, but the actual romance part didn't deliver for me.

Omg, I don't even know where to start. Ok, start here.. Read This Book! It was so dang entertaining. I laughed, I was in awe, I was sickened, I was left speechless. Eboenia and War's love is something to behold. It was traumatic yet, necessary. The world building, how descriptive Natavia is with the descriptions of the forest, the characters, and the bald female representation just put the hammer to nail for me. I love plus size representation and flawed representation. So unfortunate that Lune had to reap what Hoax had instilled in her. Hoax, his destiny was set for him from the beginning of the book, you knew his ass had to pay. But, the happily ending and the beautiful display of their new world was so, graphic and detailed. Eboenia is The lor P*y Fairy. Don't play with her, she is a warrior. War is Everything! When he put on that all black and the Tims, I was like, oh yeah.
Wow! This book has so many moving parts but they weaved together so seamlessly and kept me in a chokehold the entire time. I literally started the book earlier in the day and finished it today…I just couldn’t put it down! I was immediately drawn to this book and the magical world of black fairies…I love seeing Black representation and the fact that it included such a gripping and exciting plot left me wanting more. Some of themes that I appreciated within this book were the bonds of friendship, female empowerment, Black magic, love (true enemies to lovers), freedom, growth, found family and so much more. If you are a fan of Granger’s books, I highly recommended reading this series. Oh, almost forgot to mention the spice…when I say this book is deliciously spicy, I mean just that (nothing left to the imagination)…so read at your own risk 😛!
Eboenia is a paranormal about self-discovery & unfurling the layers of lies told over centuries to a people. Eboenia becomes the arm of the truth slayer, who catapults her to learn the truth about her magic & family history. The Truth Slayer is her captor turned lover. Come read the book that shows you what happens when the seemingly weak link becomes one of the strongest.
Eboenia been going through it real bad. (No spoilers here) so you will have to read the book to see what all she endured 😞 I must say she is a strong 💪🏾 little fairy 🧚🏾♂️ because she got her happy ending with someone whom you thought 💭 she would want dead ☠️ (well she did in the beginning) this was a really good read, I’ll be waiting for her bf Jinx story to come out soon.
Noooo she knew she should have put some trigger warnings in here also I started this book and was like ABSOLUTELY TF NOT but then the character growth was amazing and tbh i think i got Stockholm syndrome because I wasn’t supposed to like that man AT all and i didn’t at first but this book has many twists
This story was a time!!! It started off dark, a little traumatizing but if you can get past that then you will see how it all unfolds so check your triggers if you got them. My trigger meter must be off or I’m just that unhinged be I couldn’t stop reading once I got started. Warlocks against fairies in a realm above the real world where the fairies were ruled by a leader who wanted power and did deceitful things to maintain it. Eboenia rebelness (not a word, I know lol) lived her fairy life to the fullest in the real word and on the night before she was due to wed comes across a fine specimen of a man that later on turns her every way but lose after a invasion happens and stop her so call wedding where she learns the truth about who she really is and the power she wields. Now in this story like there is a whole bunch of lies, betrayal, fawking, Grim with his pettiness and battles scenes that keeps you on the edge of your seat! The erotica is eroticing!!! Now I’m gonna say much more other than that to read this dayum book because you won’t be disappointed!!
I really wanted to love this book but it was just something about it I didn’t like. The energy from the FMC and MMC was constantly changing and sometimes cringy. I love this author and really wanted to love this since I love her other supernatural stories. There were some plot twists which were interesting but it was still just ok.
This was my first Natavia book and I absolutely loved it. Funny, suspenseful, dark and nasty 🔥🔥🔥
I was side eyeing War in the beginning but yea his smart mouth won me over real quick. BDE will do it every time. My girl Eboenia just wanted her back blown out and bayybee War did just that. He loved his Lor P*ssy Fairy 😮💨
The way they balanced each other out was perfection. She brought out that softer side and he helped her embrace the darkness
Nativia did not play with this book. Every character was a standout. Hate them or love them they left their mark. When I say there’s so many quotes and one liners. Literally LOLing but also sweating cause 🥵. I would ask if they’re looking for a third but neither one of them want to share 😂
This was a great story and now I have to get this for my bookshelf. It’s definitely a reread
My first paranormal and I loved it. I need more. I need Blair, Jinx, Crash out and Grim story. The plot twists were crazy. The evil friend wasn’t who I thought it would be. A whole mess. And there’s 🌶️🌶️
4.5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐✨ This book was straight madness in the best way. Twists flying, secrets dropping, and characters moving like they had nothing to lose. I wasn’t ready—and that’s exactly why I loved it.
War? Yeah, he walked in giving big energy and never let up. No sugarcoating, no playing nice. He came for Eboenia’s entire worldview and flipped it on its head. Their connection was fire—messy, deep, and full of heat. And the way he moved through pain? Had me sitting with it for a minute. He’s not just a brute—he’s layered, and it shows.
Eboenia held her own, though. She’s bold, rebellious, and definitely not built to play the role they tried to force on her. That wedding? Cancelled. That life? Shattered. And once the truth started spilling? She stepped into her power with no apologies. She wasn’t just discovering herself—she was reclaiming everything they tried to bury.
Crash Out, Grim and Jinx? Comic relief and real ones. Grim & Crash Out had me cracking up with the petty, and Jinx was the kind of friend every girl needs—ten toes down and not afraid to get dirty. As for the ops? Let’s just say karma clocked in and collected what was owed. No sympathy. No second chances.
This world was wild. Dark from the start—real heavy in some places—so if you’ve got triggers, tread lightly. But if you can handle the grit, you’ll find a realm that’s rich with power plays, betrayal, and straight-up chaos. The fairies and warlocks dynamic? Fresh. The politics, the history, the rebellion—it gave.
And don’t even get me started on the spice. When I say the steam was steamin’? The intimacy scenes were more than heat—they told stories, cracked open emotions, and raised the stakes every single time.
Bottom line: this book does not come to play. It’s bold, intense, a little unhinged—but in the best way possible. If you like your fantasy with edge, heart, and heat, go ahead and tap in. This one’s a ride you won’t forget.
I loved that all the characters were black! It’s rare to find a dark romantasy with black characters. The sex scenes spicy! Plot and smut. The action packed scenes with goriness and fighting were written so vividly I thought I was there! Enemies to lovers, connecting even in the past life! I need a second book.
RN: Sinnnnnn let me tell you something. He piss me off the entire book! You were a coward and a b!***. You let another man take what’s yours right in front of you! SMH You were getting upset that she was out and such while you was getting your thang wet and having sex with one of her best friends. When Lune made slick remarks I definitely side eyed while I was reading. It made perfect sense. But, he was her brother though?! Like what the hell. Thankfully he was because he serve his purpose in the end.
Blaire with Crane? Ms goodie two shoes?! Haha Blaire was getting piped. What I didn’t like was she was going to let him kill her sisters. Nah that thang ain’t that good! But thankfully War erased her memory.
Cashaun aka Azarion aka big Zaddy War haha The entire book he was giving BDE. If I were Eboenia, I would’ve folded too. In all ways possible lmaooo but seriously he was about his business and stood up for what he believed in, even when everyone thought he was evil and demonic.
Eboenia listen loved her down okay! She was always strong, bold, and courageous! I love how she was able to tap into her power. She stood ten toes down for her man! True Bonnie and Clyde story.
Ate this book down! I love how Natavia combined urban fiction with fantasy. I talk to other people and often times they can’t get into fantasy because of the dialogue and dialect of the characters. Love how she integrated the two. A refreshing read. Just got Brick. Going to see what the book is about. If it’s like this, I know it will be good.

Had to look up definition of dark romance again. This still fits. But I thought it was more like taboo but it seems it wasn’t. This is like urban lit +fantasy which I don’t get to see a lot . I’ll be honest, I did want to dnf a few times but was curious about the back story and kept going. That alone tells me the author did accomplish the number one goal of keeping the reader interested. Some of it was cringe for me for me though . Baby serum ? Love potion? The stomach bulge, Lor p fairy ???? These just weren’t for me. I did have to go back and see if the author was a woman lol.
This book needs to go back for another round of editing to make it a smoother read and make sure some plot points are more clear. That aside , keeping in mind the genre I’m reading, the story was interesting. I think if we pulled out the plot a bit more and took more time with it, it could do so much more. It was a quick read though and that plot twist felt like she picked the wildest thing to throw in there. But I did NOT see it coming and it certainly added another layer to the mix. At around the 60 percent mark is when we finally get some real Movement happening and I finished the book straight through from That point, despite any eye rolls.
It’s heavy on the explicit scenes. But not the worst I’ve seen. But it is dark and taboo in some areas most of the time.
2 stars for me means it was story that served its purpose but it wasn’t for me. I gave it a bit more because I think the premise actually was interesting.
Wow. Eboenia is a truly dark and paranormal Black romance with incredible world building, gore, violence, wars, sex -- whew! There's a lot going on in this story. I thoroughly enjoyed Eboenia and I liked all of the characters, even the ones I was supposed to despise. Though very gory at times with lots of body horror, Natavia (the writer) does a great job at telling this paranormal story, while blending real Baltimore lingo and references. It makes for a more enjoyable story.
I appreciate Natavia's contributions to this sub-genre and the way she shows up for and represents Black people.
I'm new to this genre, so it was challenging to follow some of the developments in the story, but the book is so engaging that I couldn't stop reading it and the story unfolds really well making it fairly easy to understand (probably even more so for someone more familiar with paranormal books).
I recommend Eboenia to anyone who's interested in fantasy or paranormal stories, but also to anyone who likes to experiment with their reading.

This book had me rolling my eyes constantly. To start, Eboniea was an incredibly weak and frustrating protagonist. While I understand she was under a spell and not responsible for what happened to her, it made no sense that she repeatedly labeled people as her “enemies” when they were actively trying to save her from the very man who kidnapped and assaulted her. This same man murdered her people, yet she seemed more upset that others were angry about it than about the crimes themselves. War, as a character, was equally unbearable. He was cold, cruel, and lacked meaningful character development. Any growth he showed happened abruptly at the very end and felt rushed and forced. I especially disliked how he accused her sisters of being disloyal simply because they were skeptical of him… which was completely reasonable, considering he was holding them captive and was literally their enemy. Expecting blind trust in that situation made no sense. Overall, the plot felt incoherent. Nearly every male character was written as misogynistic and abusive, and the story relied heavily on violence and sexual trauma without purpose or depth. None of the main characters had redeeming qualities, and I found them all irritating rather than compelling. The random incest revelation at the end was the final straw. The entire book felt like a mess, and unfortunately, it just didn’t work for me at all. This book was just a long drawn out rape fantasy tbh.
this has to be one of the first few books i had to dnf. there was so much hope that i had for this book, prior to reading it, but the warning the author gave at the beginning, still couldn’t prepare me for what i was signing myself up for.
for the starters, i didn’t think the readers were going to be introduced to the MMC that fast. couldn’t stand him and his asshole ways, sorry not sorry! and the whole “lor pussy fairy” every 5 seconds?? couldn’t stand it and i even started to cringe 💀
sin and hoax were just irritating ESPECIALLY hoax. not even a couple pages in, and hoax is doing some trifling ish. i read some of the reviews that other readers had and it looks like he got what he got so im glad.
the author didn’t build enough emotional connection between the two main characters, eboenia and war. honestly the more i read, the more the title of the book started to make sense (if you get it, you get it). there was literally forced sex, but under the guise of “binding souls together” and i couldn’t get passed that, i couldn’t. i didn’t know how the story was going to pan out, but i wasnt going to force myself to continue if i was already getting disgusted 3 chapters in.
I had high hopes for this one. A Dark Paranormal Romance with Black-coded characters, win! A Captive/Captor trope, win! Explicit sex, sure! But reading the book, my hope quickly dissolved.
😬The world building was a little muddled, and it needs to be crisp to help me buy into the darker elements like noncon, dubcon, murderyness, etc.
😬 Characters behaved immaturity and lacked depth. It felt very paint by numbers. The nuances were not there, and when given certain situations based on what we were told about the characters, I thought a complex response was it didn't materialize. War was a little cringe. It came across very muwhahahaha level terroritory. Ebonenia was just textbook Captive FMC without rhyme or reason.
😬 Non/Dubcon is in effect. It's one of my fav tropes. However, I get really annoyed in fantasy books where a spell is casted for the FMC (who could have been persuaded or wooed into acceptance) to force her lust and bond to the MMC. That dissolves all of my interest.
It had everything! Paranormal characters, enemies to lovers, sisterhood, found family, forced proximity, touch her and ☠️, some Stockholm Syndrome, and a bunch of action. The cover caught my eye, but the well written story kept my attention from the first page. The FMC Eboenia, aka "Lor 😻 fairy," was a fun-loving party goer that was days away from an unwanted, arranged marriage to Sin. His corrupt father, Hoax, was the leader of their land, Charmden, and he was as evil as they came. On the day of their wedding, War and his army came and wrecked havoc, taking out many soldiers and sending their leader into hiding. War had his own ulterior motives, so he took Eboenia back to his world as his captive, leaving her friends and everyone else to search for her. Eboenia quickly learned that there was so much that she didn't know, and also that many people she trusted kept important and life altering secrets from her. This book was so good, and it just continued to get better and better with each passing chapter. Job well done Natavia.
Natavia has spun the block and done it again 😩🔥 Eboenia is THAT book! It’s giving mystery 🕵🏽♀️, action 💥, betrayal 🥀, romance 💋, and a sprinkle of street heat 🚗💨 all marinated in pure page-turning chaos.
Let’s talk about War… 😮💨 That man is not to be played with. AT. ALL. Period. Eboenia Oh, sis BEEN had the fire, she just needed someone to strike the match 🔥if you get my drift🪭. And Hoax and the others got exactly what was coming to them and then some. No spoilers, but baybeeee 😏 you’ll understand when you read it.
Now Jinx and Grim? 😂 The comic relief I didn’t know I needed. I’m lowkey wondering if they gon’ end up a thing or just forever chaotic besties 🤷🏽♀️😂
Final verdict? 10/10. Chef’s kiss. If you’re not reading this, what are you even doing with your life? 📚✨
