Saving the Beast

Rate this book
A Primal Panther...

An injection of a feral virus surges through his veins, trapping him in the skin of his animal. He’s fighting for dominance, struggling not to lose himself to the beast. There’s only one thing that can save him, one person who can help set him free.

A Mate’s Love...

Diane left everything she knew behind to follow the Professor into the unknown. Now, she lives among people she never knew existed and fights daily to keep them alive and healthy. She’s felt a spark with Zane since the day he arrived, but his avoidance leaves her guessing.

Mine...

As the virus rages, only the touch of a mate can rescue the man trapped inside, leading Diane down a path she feels ill-prepared to take. If she’s not his mate, Zane might just kill her. If she is, then she’s the only one with a chance at saving the beast.

Some of the scenes are repetitive with the other previous books. Diane seemed a tad too insisting while Zane was trying to get away. Ehh, it could've been me but I was bored half the time.

Normally I like to focus on the two main characters and not much of the other characters from the previous books in the series but one quote caught me and had me laughing, Tah he's something, "Tah snorted. "I swear if one more person tries to hide s*** from me. I'm going to come totally effing unglued on their a**." Zane in kitty form is a naughty boy, well in human form he's naughty as well but the kitty sure has a mind of his own, "he inhaled again, hissed and buried his nose in her crotch. "S***!" she exclaimed and jerked back. He followed and buried his nose again. "Stop that!" she scolded." Zane he's more possessive since the boy is a tad bit more primal and a little more wilder than the other males in this series, "mine," he grunted. "You are mine. I won't tolerate another man's scent on you. Ever." I can't wait for the next book in this series.

Really love this shifter series. I also love that while each book has their own couple as the focus, all the other characters are involved in the story. I need the rest of Kenzie's story!

I loved Saving the Beast by Lacey Thorn. It is the fourth installment in the Awakening Pride series and is best read in chronological order. I loved Diane. She was the backbone of the pride without being aware of it. She provided comfort and confidence when she was floundering. I loved that she never realized how much she depended upon Zane until he wasn’t there. This was a woman, who was comfortable within her field and willing to try her best for her friends, but she needed Zane to ground her and with him missing it was glaringly apparent. I adored that Zane tried to give Diane time. He understood that she was uncomfortable in social settings and even though she was his mate his duty was to protect her, even if it is from himself. But I loved that Diane stepped up when Zane was lost. She was unsure if she could save him but she was darn sure going to try. I loved that inner core of strength that Diane didn’t know she had until Zane was in danger.
Ms. Thorn gave us two strong characters with this story. She managed to connect the two in spite of themselves and she did it quite well. I thought this story was well written and well thought out. The characters were fully developed and felt real. I was rooting for them and hoping they would have their happily ever after. I am looking forward to what Ms. Thorn has in store for this emerging new pride.

This is the fourth installment in the Awakening Pride Series Diane and Zane's story. Zane has been injected with the feral virus and only his true mate can save him. Diane believes she's his true mate and will risk everything to save the man she loves. Diane has been a little wary around Zane from the start and now that she is finally coming to terms with her feelings he's gone. The feral virus traps Zane in his animal form but even then he recognizes Diane as someone important to him. Tired of waiting for others to decide what to do Diane decides she is going to find Zane and bring him back. While evading the hunters Diane and Kenzie start tracking Zane knowing exactly what will happen once he is located. Zane goes to Diane and claims what is rightfully his. This was another awesome read from Lacey Thorn. I've been hooked since the first book in this series. This books has it all heat, hot sex, strong characters and more. It will keep you reading til the last page and leave you wanting more. Can't wait til the next installment. If you don't have any of Lacey Thorn's books you should definitely go and buy them now.

It is fascinating that a book where the main character is injected with a serum that makes him go insane for the touch of his mate, and the author (thankfully) managed to tone the sex down some. Yes there was still quite a bit of it, but she managed to advance the plot quite well. She has trouble keeping the perspective of other characters while advancing the main characters of each novel. Diane and Zane were the main characters, though she led nicely into the next book leaving a bit of a cliffhanger, so they had main billing. While these two have main billing, Tah and the rest of the Pride have almost no presence at all. That doesn't manage to detract from the books very much really. It would be neat if she could write some books from different perspectives, like what Tah is thinking while the rest of the Pride is being mated off. Oh well. This still manages to be an very interesting series. I am almost sorry that I am over half way through the last book in the series so far.

This book, like the previous Awakening Pride books, was a fast and enjoyable read. The plot was engaging and well-fleshed and the major plot threads were sewn up before the end with enough hints of what is to come to whet our appetites for the next book in this series.

My primary nitpick would be that the ratio of sex scenes to plot was too high but given the fact that Zane is suffering from feral cat fever along with the shot that Diane is given, I suppose the preoccupation with sex in this book is understandable.

The book does suffer from some grammatical errors which really should have been caught in editing but they aren't prevalent enough to be too jarring. Another issue is that the author had a geography error that also should have been caught (hint: Colorado is west of Oklahoma and Texas, not east).

Those issues aside, this was an entertaining book to read and I look forward to the next one.

I was gifted Saving the Beast by the author for an honest review. Saving the Beast, book 4 Awakening Pride is Diane and Zane's story and what an amazing story. Zane has been injected with a feral virus, his beast is starting to take over and only his true mate can save him. Diane was a bit afraid of Zane at first and while others of the Pride have doubts, she believes she is his true mate and will risk life and limb to save him. Hot, sexy and oh so sensual Saving the Beast will keep you turning pages till the end. With a well-written story line and strong characters, Lacey Thorn has done it again. I recommend this book to all fans of hot, sexy shifters as well as those who are fans of contemporary romance.

This is the fourth book in the Awakening Pride Series by Lacey Thorne. Finally Diane and Zane's story. Zane having been injected with the feral virus and only his true mate can save him. Diane believing she's his true mate and will risk everything to save the man she loves. This was another awesome read from the supremely talented Lacey Thorn. I've been in love with Lacey’s writing since I found her several years ago and this series brings the same heat, hot sex and strong alpha men and women and more. I cannot wait for the next book in this series to come out. As long as Lacey Thorne keeps on writing I will continue to read….. love love love her books and so will you….. check them all out they are well work it.

Fast becoming one of favorite shifter series!

Another great entry! Love Zane and Diane together. Wish it were longer. New shifter Gabriel is intriguing. Poor Kenzei! Can't wait to see what happens with them. The plot thickens with the hunters and the virus. Babies in the mix and moving the pride to a new location was surprising. So many more yummy shifters to have stories told....

Great series

So glad I found this author. She is an auto buy for me now along with Rebecca Zanetti, Lora Leigh and New Species books. They all have shifters trying to survive with their human mates and people trying to destroy them. This author is excellent at bringing former characters and their relationships along with the new love interests. Looking forward to seeing how Kenzie and Gabriel find their HEA.

My second favorite book in this series!!

I love how Diane has to take charge and trust her instincts to try and save Zane. She isn't 100% sure that they are mates but needs to take the chance - and it's a big one! But this results in holy hotness and a bad-a$& alpha tied to her. Loved it!

You definitely should read this series in order for the optimum enjoyment and understanding of the story. Please start with Waking the Beast and go from there. Excellent PNR series!

Saving the Beast(Interracial Shifter Romance)(Awakening Pride,Book Four)

Zane and Diane make a great couple. They went through a lot to get where they are. There is a lot of turmoil within the Pride, the Hunters are getting closer.Abby just gave birth and now they have to pack up and move. The move will be hard on Diane cause she is pregnant and Kinsey may also be pregnant. So much to say about the story, but just read it.

A shift in the wind

This book shows us the way to a completely new path for our favorite shifter pride. It is packed to the covers with new mates, new life, new friends, new family and within all of that their is action, adventure and a new twist on an old enemy. My mind runs wild with all the possibilities, I can only hope the author is thinking the same thing. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

Another awesome book in this series. Zane seemed a bit more in control than the previous books, and I loved the interaction between Diane and his beast when she went looking for him. Super hot and sexy scenes combined with a continuing story arc makes this a must continue series! The teasers regarding future potential stories have me craving the next book already.

This installment was better than the last. Really liked how the heroine stepped up to help her man. There is a sub-story about another couple that broke my heart. This is probably second best to the first in the series Waking the Beast (Awakening Pride, #1) by Lacey Thorn

Loved it!

This is the 4th book in the series and I am officially hooked. Zane and Diane's story is filled to the brim with suspense, danger and some really hot Steamy sex. These books are like a drug, they are so addictive. The Pride is starting to grow and they are learning. Amazing series and I can't wait to get my next fix.

I liked how the story is a continuation of the series, but gives you enough background that it can be read as a standalone. It has been quite a while since I read the previous stories, so that got me caught up, so I could delve into this story. There were a lot of moving parts to the story, but at the centre of it all were Diane and Zane, and getting him back, while making sure she was safe. Loved how they have always connected, and when push came to shove, she realized their bond was always there. A good mix of intrigue, action, heat, and emotion, as the good guys take the day, but the bad guys are still out there!

3.5 stars.

My main issue with this series in general is I don't like the sex scenes. They're repetitive and each couple has the same tastes (I may rage if the next guy also mentions anal - I have no issue with it being added, but it's like the only 'other' thing that seems to be added and all the girls seem to be 100% cool with it and I just don't find that realistic)

I did like this more than the last book, and I found the fever stuff super interesting and liked all the new characters and plot lines added.
