After botching a resurrection spell, the kingdom’s greatest wizard hitches a ride in Tera’s head.
Tera never thought paying attention in her deathriser classes was a big deal. After flunking her midterms, her mom finally put her foot down and grounds Tera. That doesn’t stop her from sneaking out to Summercloud Fair one night with her friends. In a rush to beat her parents home the night of the fair, Tera witnesses the incineration of the kingdom’s greatest wizard. Thinking she’s about to become a hero, she attempts a basic resurrection spell from class, completely forgetting one of the most important rules—there needs to be a body. After Aeridonis’s consciousness moves into Tera’s head, she learns about the true evil behind his death and realizes the new roommate in her mind is the least of her problems.
From the author of the Eos Dawn Series (dystopian trilogy) and Thieves of Joy (psychological cyberpunk romance) comes a fun adventure story in a fantastic new universe! A YA fantasy perfect for a cozy day in.
Jen Guberman is the author of Deathriser of Darkwood, Thieves of Joy, and the Eos Dawn Trilogy. She's not a New York Times Bestseller and she has no critical acclaims, but her mom thinks her books are pretty good.
She graduated from Gardner-Webb University in December 2017 with her BA in Communications and with membership in Alpha Chi, Lambda Pi Eta, and Pi Delta Phi honor societies.
She loves watching psychological thrillers, playing video games, making jewelry, and playing with design ideas on Photoshop.
Jen lives in Huntersville, North Carolina, with her husband and their two cats.
Tera never expected all this to happen just because she failed a test. Deathriser of Darkwood follows a young deathriser (kind of like a necromancer) after she screws up a resurrection spell and ends up with a stubborn wizard living in her head.
Death riser of Darkwood: Into the Fire is the second boon to complete this duology. I have absolutely fallen in love with this story, setting, characters and more. The characters are all unique and very relatable in YA fashion. The story is original and so adventurous. The world building from book 1 flows well into book 2 and creates wonderful imagery to go with all the magic. If you’re a fan of Harry Potter, or any sort of magical setting with a school, fantastical creatures and interesting characters or all ages you need to give this duology a read immediately.
Reading this duology was an absolute incredible adventure!! Following a young deathriser (like a necromancer) after a botched spell that leads to a stubborn wizard getting stuck in her head is definitely a perfect plot...
...add in a perfectly crafted world built from Book 1 along with a creative blend of characters and a unique magic system like no other, beyond masterful!!
I truly loved and enjoyed this duo along with being a part of the Street Team to promote Book 2...
Definitely ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️+ and highly recommend...if you love fantasy, adventure, and magic, be sure to check out BOTH Deathriser of Darkwood: From the Ashes and Deathriser of Darkwood: Into the Fire by Jen Guberman!!
