I absolutely loved this book! It was a fun read, and when I had to stop reading it for a short time, I always looked forward to picking it back up again.

What I loved: The characters are what made the book excellent—especially the little girl, Ollie, who made a “daddy list” of good and bad qualities for a man she might consider to be her new daddy. She was quick for a seven year old … witty, sassy, and sweet all rolled up into one tiny package. I would love to meet a child with those cute attributes. I also enjoyed the way she kept writing things down when the “daddy” candidates did something wrong or something right.

What I didn’t like: Nothing, really. Ollie might have been a little too sassy to the adults in her life which came across as disrespectful at times, but she was so sweet it was not that obvious. She was either reprimanded by her mother for her impertinence or she made it right in her own way.

I highly recommend this book to anyone loving wildwest stories. With a little romance thrown in, it makes the book perfect. Ms. Pace did a beautiful job, and she certainly has a way with words. Her phrases were original and fit the era perfectly. Over all, I give this book five stars, and I look forward to reading more books by this author.

I bought this book and was not solicited for a review.

Out of the cheesy Christian romances I've read lately, this one has stuck with me the best. First, I like the characters (adults and children alike), and the fact that it brings to light a little known 19th century pastime of women running road footraces against men adds to its memorable qualities. Bass and Daisy's relationship felt natural and Bass' acceptance of Daisy's daughter Olivia worked well. In fact, I liked everything about this book except the ending. Olivia had a lot of issues to overcome, including accepting a previously unknown half-brother. Her anger at Bass (and the rest of her family) was a key point toward the end of the novel, and she came to grips with it far too quickly.

Excellent! Humorous and Heartwarming!

The Daddy List is truly DeWanna Pace's crowning jewel. She was at her very best in this story. Her wit shines through along with the depth of her heart as she wrote Daisy's and Bass's tender love story. Their love developed slowly as they learned to let go of the past and learn to trust again, but it was a love for all time. So many rich characters. Daisy's daughter, Ollie, was such a pistol as she searched for a "Daddy." DeWanna captured her unique way of putting things perfectly and I never knew what that little girl was going to do next. Then there were Daisy's brothers-in-law who kept me in stitches, especially Max. If you're looking for a story what will keep you glued to the page, this is the book for you. I fully recommend it.

I was fortunate to critique with DeWanna so I got to read the story first hand as it unfolded. She was friend and a colleague and I will miss her so much.

The Daddy List by Dewanna Pace was a WONDERFUL book. It's a Love Inspired Historical. Daisy Trumbo husband was killed in the war. He cheated on her and has a son 8 years old. Daisy has a daughter 7 years old. Ollie wants a new daddy. Ollie is a little spit-fire. Ollie interviews men for daddy material. Bass Parker stopped in Trumbo's home town with his sister. Ollie decides Bass would make a good daddy. So must funny and serious things go on in this story. A Must read. A book to keep and re-read.

I have read several other of the 'Love Inspired Historical' novels by other authors, and found this one to be much less enjoyable. The characters were flat, and the writing was weak. The main characters spend most of the time thinking about how much they liked the other one, but we were supposed to believe that they were miserable.

I like fluffy escape books, but couldn't get into this one.

"Pace’s Love Inspired Historical debut is not only memorable, but a pleaser from the opening humorous scene, to Daisy’s precocious daughter, to the endearing romance between Daisy and Bass" (RT Book Reviews, 4 stars).

I absolutely loved this Love Inspired Historical Romance. It had action, romance, children and a goat. It is set in the 1860's and has what I call flavor, in it. It was a real treat, with a few laughs sprinkled in here and there. Want to read more of this author's work. I've rated this a 5*.
