This was such a tense and twisty read, I thoroughly enjoyed it!
One of the Girls follows a group of women on a hen weekend for Lexi. But there are many hidden secrets among the women, will they all make it home safely?
I absolutely loved the Greek setting for this book, I really felt like I was swept away. It added a summery and tense atmosphere to the book that I lapped up. The short chapters kept the tension high and the pace fast, I felt like I was flying through the book. I loved the clear shifts between multiple points of view. Once I was able to decipher who each character was, it added so much depth. I loved seeing the thoughts of each character and developing a real understanding of their personalities.
I did not see the twists coming and felt like I was on a rollercoaster! Just as I thought things would settle another twist was thrown into the mix. I loved the slow uncovering of the truth as secrets were aired. I also thoroughly enjoyed the ending, it felt like a great way to wrap this story up. I listened to the audiobook of this novel and really liked the narrator. I will definitely be reading more by Lucy Clarke from now on!
I recommend this novel to fans of twisty thrillers with a beautiful setting. I want to thank Tandem Collective, Xigxag and Lucy Clarke for the opportunity to listen to the audiobook of this novel and give my personal thoughts.

I knew I was going to like this book, but instead….I LOVED it!!!
I went into this book realizing (given the Bachelorette Party/Hen Weekend theme) that there’s going to be a handful of women who I’m going to have to make up specific looks for given the descriptions of the women. (I usually just imagine friends/family members or celebrity faces as the characters in the book.) it’s the only way I can help myself differentiate between everyone without getting confused. So, always to start, the six or so women characters get jumbled, but in this book, I quickly fell into a groove and that’s a real talent when an author can do that.
Although a bit slow at the start, this book gripped me almost instantly. Each character has a secret and each secret comes out throughout the whole book. I liked that there were new surprises tucked in there to keep me reading on from beginning to end.
Each character was well-thought-out and their personalities/who they are didn’t stagger.
The conclusion was so unexpected and totally worth the wait! Nothing about this book seemed corny or OTT and I also really liked that about this book.
This was exactly the read I needed!!!
I would recommend this to anyone who likes twists and turns throughout a book and if you’re like me and have a guilty pleasure of wedding-themed books, you should give this a try!

Character driven, trapped in an island with a murderer premise sets on Greek Island of Aegos with well played, smart twists and unexpected conclusion! Yes, I’m easily sold!
I adored the setting and character development, slow burn tension of the story!
The bachelor party a.k.a. hen weekend gathering of a bride Lexi Lowes and five friends was an intriguing start to pick my interest! As soon as I read a few chapters: I just stopped and visualized the holiday gathering with girls: Sun, beach, wine, staying at luxurious villa! I think it took at least one hour coming out of the trace! Even thinking about that dreamy getaway made me smile!
Only thing bothered me was number of the characters: Both POVs are not equally interesting! It was fun to see each character’s different motivation to attend the wedding. Some of them are truly darker thoughts, acting like great example of villanelles!
I found some of the characters dull, yes I’m talking about Robyn! I couldn’t relate with her. I even thought skipping her parts but it would cause problem for me to understand entire premise fully so I patiently read her POV!
Lexi and Bella were more interesting POVs than the others!
This was truly entertaining pop corn and booze read for me! There are so many well built twists and the ending was also jaw dropping!
Absolutely likable thriller if you enjoy the great Greek island premise and strong character driven mysteries!

Excellent thriller!
Many times when I read a thriller filled with secrets, I roll my eyes because the secrets the people are keeping seem ridiculous. In this book, however, the secrets are dark and very surprising.
It is Lexi's hen weekend and six women head to a remote home in Greece to celebrate. These include Brooke, Lexi's wild maid-of-honor, Brooke's girlfriend Fen, whose aunt owns the house, Robin, a childhood friend of Brooke and Lexi, Ana, Lexi's more recent close friend, and Eleanor, Lexi's fiance's sister. They all come ready for sun and alcohol soaked adventures, but the different things that are revealed along the way--some in public and some privately--will shake the group to their core.
We know from the beginning that someone dies. We just don't know who, why, or how. This idea propels the story forward, and as the secrets are brought to light, I found myself changing my mind again and again as to who it could be.
The story is told from alternating perspectives of each of the women, and that helped me keep them all straight and learning about their inner motivation, insecurities, desires, and plans. I was definitely surprised many times with the twists and turns the story took, and I grew to like or at least appreciate each of the women even though some of them took me a while to warm up to.
I was happy to be surprised by this thriller, if you're looking for some great twists, definitely pick this one up.

Bella wants only the best for her best friend Lexi's Hen Do. It has to be one for the record books, as special as Lexi herself. That's why she picks her girlfriend, Fen's, Aunt's villa on a remote Greek island as the destination.
The guest list is small, just Bella, Lexi, Fen, Robin, Bella and Lexi's other closest friend from childhood, Eleanor, Lexi's soon to be sister-in-law, and Ana, a new friend Lexi has made in her adult life.
Even though the setting is stunning, the property exceeding all expectations, the rest doesn't turn out quite as Bella had anticipated.
Everyone seems a bit on edge, Bella's not crazy about Lexi's new friend, Ana. Who even is she anyway!?
Then there is the future sis-in-law, she's awkward. Of course there's tension with Robin. Bella and Robin have been estranged since that incident in high school. And why is Fen acting so remote?
Most unsettling for Bella though is Lexi herself. Who is this woman? Where is the party girl she used to know? The professional dancer who would hop from club to club imbibing in anything she could get her hands on well into the night?
But this story isn't told just from Bella's perspective. She just happens to be the person that I connected with the most; take from that what you will.
This story is told from all the ladies perspectives and my goodness, is there a lot racing through the minds of these women. The history, the self-doubt, the insecurities, the grudges, they run deep!!
Someone is not making it back from this weekend. You know that as you're reading. This is not going to end well. But who and how and more importantly, why!?
One of the Girls took me by surprise. I loved this. It's not perfect, no, but it resonated with me in so many different ways. I was absolutely captivated by these women.
I'm actually sorry I put off reading this for so long. It was a great fit for me as I enjoy a lot of drama, suspense and low-key girl squad vibes.
When I tell you the dramatic narrative left me unable to put this down, I am not exaggerating. I loved how this was formatted to slowly reveal the truth of all the relationships at play here. It's complicated, but so is life.
I definitely would recommend this to any Reader who enjoys a lot of deep drama in their stories. We're talking interpersonal relationships so mired, you wonder why the characters are even friends. Personally, I love that.
I also really enjoyed the conclusion to this. I loved the just desserts, if you will, and the way some of the storylines really came full circle. It gave me some real satisfaction at the end.
We love closure.

If we'd been more astute, if we'd listened more closely, if we'd not turned away from her - from ourselves - we could have stopped it. That's what makes this so much worse. We could have changed it.
Now it's too late. It's over. We can never unsee the trail of her red wrap as it fluttered in the morning breeze, caught in the zip of a body bag.
ABOUT 'ONE OF THE GIRLS': It was supposed to be the perfect weekend away. Six very different women travel to a sun-soaked Greek island for a bachelorette trip, to celebrate Lexi’s upcoming wedding. From the glorious ocean views to the quaint tavernas and whitewashed streets, the vacation seems too good to be true. But dangerous undercurrents run beneath the sunset swims and midnight cocktails – because each of the women is hiding a secret. MY THOUGHTS: I have to say right off that the publicity blurb is just a little misleading. But I can't tell you how, because that would spoil it. But I will say that I didn't find the story particularly twisty, and it is more a psychological drama than thriller.
Six women, each of whom have their own voice, and a secret:
Lexi, the bride-to-be, ex-dancer, ex-wild-child, and about to be married to the solid and reliable Ed; Bella, Lexi's maid-of-honour who is not at all sure that she likes this new, settled Lexi; and partner of Fen who borrowed her aunt's house on the Greek island of Aegos for the getaway; Robyn, the recently divorced single mum who is back living with her parents; Eleanor, Ed's sister who is still grieving following a medical misadventure which resulted in the death of her fiance Sam; and Ana, the newest member of the group, Lexi's newest friend who is perhaps concealing the most damning secret of them all.
The story starts slowly, but as the true natures of these women are revealed, the pace does pick up. There is a good amount of misdirection as to who both the victim and the perpetrator might be as alcohol fueled cracks begin to show in the women's relationships, and true feelings are revealed.
One of the Girls (I have to ask, why not Women in the title rather than girls? None of them are in the first flush of youth.) is a quick easy read. I wouldn't call it gripping or thrilling, but it was ultimately satisfying and the characters are mostly interesting.

This is a Psychological Thriller. This thriller was very slow moving, and I found the beginning super boring. The twists I saw coming way before they were revealed. I thought the ending was good, but it was not great. I just wanted more from this book. I received an ARC of this book. This review is my own honest opinion about the book like all my reviews are.

It’s Lexi Lowes hen weekend on the Greek island of Aegos and she’s there with five friends and under strict instructions not have contact with her fiance Ed. However, almost as soon as she arrives at the remote villa Lexi feels prickles of unease. Six women, a hen do, a Greek island, sun, sea, food, wine, sounds idyllic, what could possibly go wrong? The story is told by all six women which flows well.
This is definitely a case of oh what a tangled web we weave and with a great island backdrop to the drama as who could resist such a setting? The storyline does get intriguing although it starts slowly but it’s well worth hanging in there as once the initial excitement of their arrival wears off and reality sets in the pace speeds up. The characterisation it’s good although some characters are much more interesting than others, Robyn’s point of view is a bit dull at times and Fen’s isn’t as interesting as the others either. However the perspectives of Lexi, Bella, Eleanor and Ana make up for that and its interesting mix with the ever changing dynamics between them being very entertaining. The tension builds well as each characters good and bad memories are revealed and their lies and deception create increasingly building under currents which all connects dramatically towards the end. The finale is a surprise and a good one as it’s not what you expect.
Overall this is a good easy read and maybe a perfect novel to take poolside as you sip the drink of your choice.

It’s Lexi Lowes hen weekend on the Greek island of Aegos and she’s there with five friends and under strict instructions not have contact with her fiance Ed. However, almost as soon as she arrives at the remote villa Lexi feels prickles of unease. Six women, a hen do, a Greek island, sun, sea, food, wine, sounds idyllic, what could possibly go wrong? The story is told by all six women which flows well.
This is definitely a case of oh what a tangled web we weave and with a great island backdrop to the drama as who could resist such a setting? The storyline does get intriguing although it starts slowly but it’s well worth hanging in there as once the initial excitement of their arrival wears off and reality sets in the pace speeds up. The characterisation it’s good although some characters are much more interesting than others, Robyn’s point of view is a bit dull at times and Fen’s isn’t as interesting as the others either. However the perspectives of Lexi, Bella, Eleanor and Ana make up for that and its interesting mix with the ever changing dynamics between them being very entertaining. The tension builds well as each characters good and bad memories are revealed and their lies and deception create increasingly building under currents which all connects dramatically towards the end. The finale is a surprise and a good one as it’s not what you expect.
Overall this is a good easy read and maybe a perfect novel to take poolside as you sip the drink of your choice.

Six women (Bella, Fen, Robyn, Eleanor, Ana, Lexi) have traveled to a sun-soaked Greek island for Lexi's hen weekend. What should have been fun in the sun, turned into much, much, more. One of the women, has a secret. But who, which one and what secret?
This book proved to be a quick read as I was trying to figure out which woman had the secret. Who was the one speaking in the italicized sections, and what is going to happen if the secret is revealed?
Readers get a glimpse into each character’s minds and motivations. This was interesting and a nice touch. It could have been messy with so many characters, but the author made it flow nicely.
This would make a great book for lounging by the pool or relaxing on vacation. This doesn't take much thought and is an enjoyable read.

I've just one complaint, and it's not with the story "which rocked!" It's with the synopsis. This isn't much of a twisty tale.
There really isn't much of a mystery at all. We begin knowing that someone will die and they are possibly wearing red. That is known from the very beginning.
Everything else? No mystery. No dirty deeds.
So, what makes this story so compelling? The people. I loved them all, to varying degrees! Jeezum crow! Did these women have secrets!😍
I kept running through my head who I liked the least. Because I knew someone was going to die.
Turns out? Aw, come on! Y'all know I'm not saying another word!

Whoa… so many surprising twists and turns in this one I really didn’t see coming!! One Of The Girls started out a little slow and took a bit for me to really get into but once I did, I couldn’t put it down. 6 women together in Greece for a hens weekend equals a ton of drama! I loved how a lot of the characters ended up tying into each other somehow in the end. I really enjoyed all the characters and their uniqueness, except for Bella! I wouldn’t consider this book a thriller, more along the lines of a suspenseful drama. Overall, an enjoyable read I would recommend!

Picturesque scenery and azure bue water so stunning that I felt as if I was on an exotic vacation while reading this. The warm temperatures - both ocean and air - were balm for the dark days of winter and I couldn’t help imagining myself floating in tranquility.

I can’t say why some writers are able to penetrate my thought process and why others seem trite, but I enjoyed this for more than just the mystery aspect. I'm adding Lucy Clarke to my 'be on the look out' list.

A Girls Trip from Hell!
Oh, how I wanted to love this….
Having read and really liked all of Lucy Clarke’s other books I was eagerly awaiting her next book, sadly One of the Girls did not deliver.
Six women travel to the Greek Island of Aegos for Lexi’s Hen Weekend. What seems like paradise at the start, turns into the exact opposite just a few short days later.
Told in alternating chapters by Lexi, Bella, Robyn, Eleanor, Ana, Fen, and an unknown narrator, we slowly learn each character’s background and the undercurrent that lies beneath the surface of their friendships.
Sadly, none of the women are all that likable and neither is the storyline. Every character is withholding here, a secret, a lie, something, and when all rise to the surface, it isn’t pretty.
While this was intended to be a suspenseful, twisty read, the despicability of the characters and Bella in particular, made this less so, at least for me. I am, however, only one reader and in this instance, was the wrong reader for this novel.

If any reader enjoys many dark secrets and lies then you must hurry and read this book because it is a most perfect book to read during the summertime!
Six women from different backgrounds are traveling to an exotic isle in Greece for a fabulous hen party (bachelorette party) weekend that will impact each of their lives in ways they could never have foreseen and some will experience the pain of betrayed friendships while others will find new beginnings on this isle of beauty. They will all face an event that has tragic consequences and it will either fracture and break fragile relationships or it will allow loyalty and love to heal open and deep wounds. One thing is for sure. None if these women will ever be the same after this tragic Hen Party Getaway!
(1) The beautiful and loveable bride to be. (2) The gorgeous but mean-spirited bully. (3) The unhappy and depressed introvert. (4) The thoughtful, athletic and nature loving enthusiast. (5) The long-time friend and single mother of a toddler yearning for unachieved happiness. (6) The quiet and aloof single mother who is only known to the bride-to-be.
Secrets and lies in a secluded atmosphere combined with lots of alcohol is never a healthy recipe for anyone, especially these women who will soon find out that not one of them will be left unscathed by the time sirens signal the arrival off several police cars!
What a terrific, fun and engaging book this was. The author Lucy Clarke was a great writer and storyteller. She really captured the exotic atmosphere of the Greek isle and villa which made the story a true pleasure to read. Many red herrings throughout pointing th finger at someone yet then misdirecting the reader to the next person. From the prologue you know someone will be killed but until the end you won't know who, what or why they were killed. (Loved that) The hot dry sun, the shimmering blue water, the tension and unspoken angry feelings brewing and bubbling beneath the surface of almost all of the women and made if feel as if an explosion was coming soon yet I just didn't know which woman would boil over first.
Remind me to never go on a weekend getaway with 5 other friends to a beautiful secluded villa somewhere in Enchanting Greece and possibly never returning.

I wanted to love this one because the setting is in a remote part of Greece on the beach. The background of the waves crashing, the scenery of the cliff side trails, the market in town and the
comradery of a girls' Hen party set the stage for a perfect getaway. So what happened....I read through waiting for the climax and with all six girls' POV it was sure not to let me down. I'm not sure what the downfall was for me but knew I had to finish, so 3/4 of the way it began to pick up and I'm glad I finished it. It does turn deadly and not who I expected to die, so there's your twist. All women have a sort of secret to reveal and some are not who they appear to be, so there's your other twist. I'm glad I finished, but sad that Lexi's Hen trip wasn't what she had hoped it would be...

In the interest of complete honesty, this was not a book I enjoyed. Just for context, I say this as a 22-year-old woman whose favorite genre is thrillers with female main characters, which is precisely what One of the Girls is.
My first issue arose when I realized I didn't actually like many, if any, of the six main characters, all women in their thirties as far as I can tell. We have the heavy-drinker-partier type, the absolutely-downtrodden-personality type, the couple who hangs all over each other the whole weekend while using the word "babe" an inordinate amount of times. Based on the vast differences between the women, I hoped to connect with at least one of them. But I ended up really feeling nothing.
One problem I had that skirts between a character issue and a writing issue is the repetition. When one woman's feelings are described a certain way, in very specific words, it is almost a certainty that her feelings will be described in a following chapter in the exact same words. It gets repetitive very quickly. I can't tell you how many times one of the women felt a tightening in her breast. I mean, come on, there has to be another way to describe that.
Moreover, the whole book carries a distinct pro-female, anti-male tone that feels a lot more like an inserted author bias than the opinions of the characters, which makes it painfully easy to draw a map of what will happen at the end. Overarching themes are fine; overarching themes that make the story predictable are...less fine. But for the sake of not spoiling, I promise not to say anything further. I just prefer books that are more mysterious throughout, including the end, such as You Are Not Alone and Final Girls .
That said, I always wish a new story success, whether it's my cup of tea or not, and I do hope this book finds its way to the right people, even though I wasn't one of them.

This was the second time I desperately wished for a book character named 'Bella' to die.
I wasn't exactly thrilled by this thriller, as everything was quite predictable. The hens' (am I the only one who detests that word in this context btw?) backstories were interesting, though.

I wish I read this while I was lounging at my pool, so I could have pretended I was sipping Prosecco while I listened in on a bunch of secrets and a whole lotta drama.
Featuring ~ multiple 3rd person POV, secrets, lies
Six ladies are off to the the Greek Islands for a hen party (this is one of my favorite British terms!) to celebrate Lexi's upcoming nuptials to Ed.
We have Lexi, Robyn, Fen, Bella, Ana & Eleanor and a mysterious person as our storytellers.
I really loved that it was told in multiple POV's ~ it really showed how each of them felt about one another and all the lies they tell and all the secrets they try to keep. I found it was paced and written well. I thought I knew where the story was going and I was correct and not correct. I guessed somethings and others were a surprise. Definitely gives off Big Little Lies vibes.
I was lucky enough to both read and listen to this one and I enjoyed both formats equally. Natalie Simpson and Sofia Zervadachi did a lovely job narrating for 10 hours and 8 minutes, easy to follow along at 2x.
I have not read this authors work before, but I'd be delighted to do so.

With a beautiful setting as this one you get sucked in immediately. The Island gives you that perfect setting for this thriller to unfold.
We get to know each character really well. Robyn was very dull in the beginning but really broke out of her shell towards the end. Although Bella's intentions were always good I found her to be extremely self centered.
I found the writing and plot likeable with little hidden secrets and with a good solid twist this was a very enjoyable book!

This was ok. I feel like I’ve read this story before and this version was boring to me. The characters dialogue annoyed me; all the conversations and arguments were tiresome. It was a struggle to finish.
Another girls bachelorette trip, this time 6 girls travel to a beautiful Greek island. One of them won’t be coming home. Each of these ladies have secrets, which no doubt will come out. One of the six is determined not to let this wedding happen, even if it takes murder to do it.

Highlight, weil es mich so gefesselt hat, dass ich dranbleiben, unbedingt weiterlesen wollte und das obwohl es kein "klassischer" Thriller ist. Sehr lange bleibt sehr viel offen: Wir wissen nur, dass eine Person auf dem Junggesellinnen-Abschied in Griechenland stirbt - jedoch nicht, wer und wie es dazu kam. Dabei nehmen wir die Point of View von sechs vielschichtigen Frauencharakteren ein, die sich durch ihre Erzähltöne sofort voneinander unterschieden und daher greifbar wurden. Anfangs fokussiert es sich vor allem auf die Dynamiken untereinander und Geheimnisse, die zwischen ihnen stehen - dementsprechend startet es langsam, bevor es Fahrt aufnimmt, was mich persönlich nicht gestört hat. Verdächtige Gedankengänge regen bis dahin dazu an, Theorien aufzustellen und wieder zu verwerfen. Durch die offenen Fragen, die abrupten Perspektivwechsel und regelmäßigen Cliffhanger wurde ich ans Geschehen gefesselt, sodass ich das Buch in 2,5 Tagen beendet habe. Alles löst sich erst beim finalen Showdown auf, bei dem einige Entwicklungen mich überraschen & auf falsche Fährten führen konnten. Beendet habe ich das Buch mit diesem gewissen "Oha"-Effekt, es war so rund, einfach auf schriftstellerisch genial gemacht, dass ich begeistert zurückbleibe hihi😍😮💨

Alles löst sich erst beim finalen Showdown auf, bei dem einige Entwicklungen mich überraschen & auf falsche Fährten führen konnten. Beendet habe ich das Buch mit diesem gewissen "Oha"-Effekt, es war so rund, einfach auf schriftstellerisch genial gemacht, dass ich begeistert zurückbleibe hihi😍😮💨

I love a mystery that cycles through all the characters in giving their perspective. I wasn’t quite as into the brief interludes of a mysterious voice giving slightly ominous reflections on the events of the story but overall it was a fun thriller. Six friends go to a made up island in Greece for one of the girls’ hen weekend (or bachelorette getaway). But several of the women have been keeping secrets and when you place 6 people in one home with lots of alcohol does anything stay secret? I liked that in addition to the mystery this book was at its heart about the friendships of the women and how they developed and continued to grow. I liked the writing and would definitely read more by this author. I liked some of the characters better than others, but they were all well written.

What happens on the hen weekend, stays on the hen weekend.
From the beginning we know there is a death and there is something red draped on the victim. What happened? Was it that wall that is too short for the rocky, 100-foot drop to the beach below. Or was it that blue rowboat? There are six women on the trip and as the days go past they discover how connected they really are. There is so much more than who they are to Lexi, the bride. The author layers the plot with many types of relationships: best friends forever, fractured friends, yoga friends, friends to lovers, bully friends, and more. . . And on top of that are catastrophic life events like losing a fiance', divorce, sibling difficulties, sexual assault, and more. . . There are too many issues and the ending was not to my reading tastes. So, this is not one I enjoyed as much as many other GR readers. There were some shades of Lucy Foley and Liane Moriarty to the plot that many will enjoy. I thought it went on a bit long and was glad things started to get more interesting at 50%.

I recommend to read this if you like character studies and slow-burn mysteries.
Someone is going to die at the end of the weekend/hen party, but who? 🧐 Before getting there, we learn to know the six girls and the relationships between them. I enjoyed reading every POV and flipped through the pages to discover each character's secret.
The setting in Greece was perfect! I appreciated the descriptions of the location and of the food.😍 🇬🇷
It was my fourth read by Lucy Clarke and she's an author I highly recommend, especially if you like books that make you travel! 📚🛩️

Ho-hum....another book with girls in the title where the girls are off to an exotic location where everyone has a secret, someone dies and everything is resolved.
The highlight of the novel isn't the story and/or the characters but the Greek island the six women travel to for a friend's bachelorette trip.
This plot has the silliest, most ridiculous twist in which everyone is connected by dumb old coincidence!
I hate that and how these women are all connected to each other in some way is very corny and unbelievable.
The narrative is not very suspenseful or dramatic; tension and anxiety is foreshadowed in that we know all six women are holding secrets but the pacing is slow, tedious and the reader has to get through a lot of filler before secrets are revealed.
I soon grew tired of hearing about how gorgeous and charming Lexi was and how her BFF is so protective of Lexi's time and how wild she is.
I skimmed 90% of this.
This wasn't thrilling or twisty; I saw all of the twists coming, not to mention I had a difficult time liking and/or relating to any of the women.
I won't be reading any more books by this author ever again.
This was a laugh riot and not in a good way.

Let me just go ahead and knock this one out real quick since stories like these are kind of a dime a dozen. One of the Girls (that my brain is still insisting was called “Only Us Girls”) is a pretty formulaic tale of a hen gathering gone bad. Six narrators – including bride-to-be Lexi, her lifetime BFF Bella, her new BFF Anna, her other childhood BFF Robyn, Bella’s partner Fen and soon to be sister-in-law Eleanor all tell the goings on of this Greek getaway. Skeletons fall out of closets, someone dies. The end. The person I wanted to die ended up being the one dead and the only character I liked remained likeable throughout so that was a plus. The others ran together so much that I really had to pay attention to the chapter headings indicating exactly who I was reading about. And what is the point of going to some fabulous destination and never actually doing anything???? I was hoping for at least a teensie bit of . . . .
But these basic bitches just sat around the villa eating tzatziki and hummus by the spoonful (literally) and getting wasted. At the end of it all this felt like a mashup of other popular books and wholly unoriginal.

I have a lot of sporadic thoughts about this book, so don't mind me completely jumping around while trying to come up with a review. I'm going to be a hot mess, but let's see...
This book is definitely not a psychological thriller and I think this is my biggest problem with ONE OF THE GIRLS. This newly released book is being marketed as a psychological thriller, when in fact it really is a character-driven drama between the dynamics of women-centric friendships. Going into this book, I thought it would be similar to Ruth Ware's In a Dark, Dark Wood, but this book is not really that suspenseful. ONE OF THE GIRLS is a bachelorette party gone awry when secrets are revealed and a killer is among the group of friends. I loved that the bachelorette (or should I say "hen" party) takes place on a fictional Greek Island (always wanted to go to Greece), but the writing and storyline always felt distant to me. With a big group of friends, having each person with distinct and almost equally as toxic secrets felt a little bit odd to me, especially since they were like every cliché in thriller storytelling. I think I was just the wrong audience for this one, but if you like slow burn dramas, this could be more up your alley.
