Not all our actions are our own.

Sometimes it’s the darkness whispering in our ear.

Sometimes it’s the light blazing a path to a saving grace.

Ely has always been a little strange and impulsive, often caught up in weird situations, or losing moments of his life through blackouts. Now older, he has become aware that not all his actions have been his own. He has been sharing these moments with others, unseen. They have been using him to do their bidding.

Seeking help from his estranged sister, Sera, the siblings are haunted by the past. A darkness is pursuing them as they are embroiled in a secret war for dominion.

A Good Samaritan isn’t there by accident.

Those moments when a person reacts and can’t explain why they did a heroic thing, or an evil thing.

The predator doesn’t choose their victim randomly.

The dead obsess the living to do their desire.

Someone knows and can feel us.

The spirit world is using us as its vessels.

We are compelled.

Compelled by Kevin Doyle is an unforgettable psychological and supernatural thriller that grips you from the very first page and refuses to let go. With its chilling premise, that not all our actions are truly our own, this novel digs deep into the unsettling space between free will and spiritual manipulation.

Ely is a beautifully complex protagonist. His blackouts, impulsive behavior, and creeping realization that unseen forces are sharing his body make for a deeply disturbing and utterly compelling journey. As the layers peel back, what initially feels like psychological instability evolves into something far more cosmic and terrifying. The tension builds steadily, and the sense of dread lingers long after you’ve put the book down.

The dynamic between Ely and his estranged sister Sera adds emotional weight to the story. Their fractured bond, haunted past, and reluctant alliance ground the supernatural elements in something painfully human. The “secret war for dominion” unfolding around them feels epic yet intimate at the same time.

This story grabbed me from the first chapter. Kevin Doyle creates a world that feels both supernatural and deeply human at the same time. I felt Ely’s confusion, fear, and pain as if it were my own. The themes of control, identity, and unseen forces were brilliantly woven together. It’s eerie but also strangely moving ;I couldn’t stop thinking about it

I wasn’t expecting such emotional depth from a paranormal thriller. ‘Compelled’ explores what it really means to lose control, not just to dark powers, but to guilt, memory, and trauma. The writing is crisp, the dialogue believable, and the pacing perfect. It’s one of those stories that makes you pause and think about the battles we all fight inside.

A truly compelling read: the title fits perfectly. I appreciated how the author didn’t rely on cheap scares or clichés. Instead, the tension comes from the characters’ humanity — their regrets, their love, their loss. It’s thoughtful, unsettling, and beautifully written. This one will stay with me for a long time.

Dark, unsettling, and addictive this story makes you question who’s really in control. A haunting exploration of free will, possession, and the unseen battles shaping our lives. Ely’s journey is chilling, mysterious, and impossible to put down
